• problems mounting an external IDE drive via USB in ubuntu

  I am having a problem connecting a specific IDE drive to my linux box. It's an old drive which I just want to get about 3 GB of files off of. INFO I am trying to connect a 200GB IDE Maxtor Drive, internally and externally... externally: I am using an self powered USB IDE external drive enclosure which I have used to connect various drives, under ubuntu and windows, in the past. The other posts stated it coudl be a problem I think i may have formatted the /dev/sdc partition instead of /dev/sdc1 partition when i originally formatted the drive. internally: I only have one machine left that has an internal IDE interface, and it's got XP on it. I plugged this drive internally into this machine with windows XP and used the ext2/ext3 drivers to mount this drive, but some files have question marks (?) in the file names which is messing up my copy process in windows. I can't delete the files under windows. Ubuntu Linux will not install on my only remaining machine that has IDE controller. • Ubuntu 10.04 and fedora 14 grub conflict

  I tried to triple boot Windows xp, Fedora 14 and Ubuntu 10.04. I first installed Windows xp, then fedora followed by Ubuntu. The problem is that i don't get option to boot Ubuntu while Xp boots fine. It seems Ubuntu was unable to replace Fedora's grub with its own at MBR. Looking at their grub conf file, Fedora and Ubuntu identifies same harddisk as two different devices and i do have another 80 GB harddisk which doesn't have any OS. • overriding new ubuntu installation

  I've got a ubuntu 11.10 which has lost its support in May 2013, now I'd like to reintall up to the most up-to-date LTS, which is 12.04. My question is regarding my current partitions and doing backups. Is there a safe way to backup my data on some local partitions instead of copying files into DVDs/external drives (this is very uncormortable in my situation). Where does the difference come from?

• Turn off LogEnabled Filter at run time - Logging Enterprise Application Block

  Hi, so the story go like this: i'm using the Logging Enterprise Application block that provided by microsoft to log events in our application. The goal is to enabled event viewer logging at loading and then turn it off. What i did is to add EventLog TraceListener which write all our logs into the event viewer. What i'm trying to do is to disable it after the application was done loading. The only way that i can thing about is to add a LogEnabled Filter and then turn it off. However, i don't know how to access this filter at run time and disable log on this listener. if you have an idea, please share. Thanks

• Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c: Neue Features im Release 2

  Seit dem 14.09.2012 steht ein neues Release 2 von Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c zur Verfügung. Zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte von Enterprise Manager hat Oracle ein neues Release für alle Komponenten und Plattformen am gleichen Tag freigegeben. Das neue Release steht also sowohl bzgl. OMS als auch der Agenten für alle unterstützten Plattformen zur Verfügung. Damit kann das neue Release sofort für alle Umgebungen eingesetzt werden. Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 2 trägt die Versionsnummer 12.1.0.2 und ist vor allem ein Stabilitätsrelease. Es enthält hauptsächlich Bugfixes und Performance-Verbesserungen. Es gibt aber auch einige neue Features. Der heutige Tipp zeigt die neuen Features auf.

• Apple Developer Enterprise Program?

  I'm building an iOS application for a client (not an enterprise but non-profit association with under than 500 employess), distributed in a free version and a "paid" one. The free version will be available with iTunes/AppStore, no problem with that. But about the paid one... the distribution my client wants is different. They want to distribute it to their clients as a bonus in their subscription, and so, to control this distribution. The first answer would be "iOS Developer Enterprise Program", but it's not an enterprise and have less than 500 employees. Will the fact that my client will distribute the app' with a subscription be a problem ? I spend a lot of time to read documentation, but it is not very clear. I'm a bit lost, I admit it. Any help would grateful.

• MSR Issue on 12.1 Enterprise Controllers

  We've noticed a problem with MSR initialization and synchronization on Enterprise Controllers that are using Java 7u45. If you're running into the issue, these jobs fail with Java errors. Java 7u45 is bundled with Oracle Solaris 11.1 SRU 12, so if you're using that version or if you plan to use it, you should be aware of this issue. There's a simple fix. You can do the fix before upgrading to SRU 12, but you can't do it before you install the Enterprise Controller. First, log on to the Enterprise Controller system and stop the EC using the ecadm command. This command is in the /opt/SUNWxvmoc/bin directory on Oracle Solaris systems and in the /opt/sun/xvmoc/bin directory on Linux systems: ecadm stop -w Then run this command to fix the issue: cacaoadm set-param java-flags=`cacaoadm get-param -v java-flags -i oem-ec | sed 's/Xss256k/Xss384k/'` -i oem-ec And then restart the EC: ecadm start -w Once you apply this fix, you should be set.

• Aktuell: Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 4 ist da

  Ein neues Release für Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control ist verfügbar. Es ist das Release 4, oder genauer die Version 12.1.0.4. Der Download steht für alle unterstützten Plattformen seit dem 03.06.2014 auf OTN zur Verfügung.Natürlich gibt es viele Neuerungen, daher können hier nur wenige aufgezählt werden: - Als Repository Datenbank wird jetzt auch die Datenbankversion 12c (als Non-CDB) unterstützt - Das Sicherheitsmodell für zusammengefasste Zieltypen (z.B. Gruppen) wurde geändert. Jetzt kann man Rechte auf die Member einer Grupper vergeben, ohne dass das gleiche Recht auf die Gruppe selbst vergeben werden müsste - Default Preferred Credentials stellen sicher, dass neue EM Benutzer auch ohne weitere Konfiguration arbeiten können - Der Bereich Cloud Management, also der Betrieb einer eigenen Cloud wurde stark weiterentwickelt. - Im Datenbankbereich können die AWR Daten der einzelnen Zieldatenbanken jetzt in ein zentrales AWR Warehouse übertragen und somit besser für längere Zeit gespeichert werden.
