    Hi. The idea was to create a message box that stores my user name, message, and post datetime into the database as messages are sent. Soon came to realise, what if the user changed his name? So I decided to use the user id (icn) to identify the message poster instead. However, my chunk of codes keep giving me the same error. Says that there are no rows in the dataset ds2.   • Java M4A atom tagging free space issue

    Hey, I've been trying to be able to read and write iTunes style M4A atoms and while I've successfully done the reading part, I've come to a bit of a halt in regards to the free space atoms. I figured that I should be able edit and shift the padding around to accommodate writing an atom with more data than it originally had. I've been stuck on this for about a day now, and I've been trying to figure out how to determine the closest free space atom with enough size to accommodate the new data. so far I have: private freeAtom acquireFreeSpaceAtom( long position ) { long atomStart = Long.MAX_VALUE; freeAtom atom = null; for( freeAtom a : freeSpace ) { if( Math.abs( position - atomStart ) > Math.abs( position - a.getAtomStart() ) ) atomStart = ( atom = a ).getAtomStart(); } return atom; } That code only takes into account the closest free space atom and completely disregards the fact that it should be greater than or equal to a certain size, but I can't quite figure out how I should check for both closeness and size efficiently.

    I've wasted around 30 hours this week writing and re-writing code, believing that I had misunderstood how the OpenGL depth buffer works. Everything I tried, failed. I have now resolved my problem by finding what may be an error in the Android implementation of OpenGL. See this API entry: http://www.opengl.org/sdk/docs/man/xhtml/glClearDepth.xml void glClearDepth(GLclampd depth); Specifies the depth value used when the depth buffer is cleared. The initial value is 1. Android's implementation has two versions of this command: glClearDepthx which takes an integer value, clamped 0-1 glClearDepthf which takes a floating point value, clamped 0-1 If you use glClearDepthf(1) then you get the results you would expect. If you use glClearDepthx(1), as I was doing then you get different results. (Note that 1 is the default value, but calling the command with the argument 1 produces different results than not calling it at all.) Quite what is happening I do not know, but the depth buffer was being cleared to a value different from what I had specified.

    I have a ListActivity and in it I set my list items with a class that extends SimpleCursorAdapter. I'm overriding bindView to set my Views. I have some TextViews and ImageViews.     I'm using savefiledialog to save an image. Canvas is picturebox and the loaded image is bitmap. When I try to save it the file is created but somehow corrupted. Cause when I try againt load the image or show in different viewer it doesn't work - I mean the saved file is corrupted.   • Issue with mysql backup in cron

    I'm just trying to perform a mysqldump and have it scheduled. I'm using RHEL 5 and have added it to the crontab as shown below: 22 13 * * * root mysqldump --user=root --password=12345 mysqldb /var/backups/mysqldbdate +%d%m.sql The .sql file never ended up in the backups folder. I even attempted to run this command line and it worked fine which tells me its something to do with the cron. Furthermore, I added a simple comand like "ls" and the output to the same directory and it worked fine. Any ideas? Thanks, Aaron

The thing is that I want the main thread to wait for the animation thread to finish and then to continue. I searched around, read a little bit and decided to use the join() method. It perfectly waits for the thread to finish but I doesn't animate correctly. The repaint() method gets called 2 times instead of nine. I think maybe the problem is because I used singletons.     I have two tables : Product and ProductRateDetail. The parent table is Product. I have duplicate records in the product table which need to be unique. There are entries in the ProductRateDetail table which correspond to duplicate records in the product table. Somehow I need to update the ProductRateDetail table to match the original (older) ID from the Product table and then remove the duplicates from the product table.     One of the touted advantages of jQuery.data versus raw expando properties (arbitrary attributes you can assign to DOM nodes) is that jQuery.data is "safe from circular references and therefore free from memory leaks". An article from Google titled "Optimizing JavaScript code" goes into more detail: The most common memory leaks for web applications involve circular references between the JavaScript script engine and the browsers' C++ objects' implementing the DOM (e.g. between the JavaScript script engine and Internet Explorer's COM infrastructure, or between the JavaScript engine and Firefox XPCOM infrastructure). It lists two examples of circular reference patterns: DOM element → event handler → closure scope → DOM DOM element → via expando → intermediary object → DOM element However, if a reference cycle between a DOM node and a JavaScript object produces a memory leak, doesn't this mean that any non-trivial event handler (e.g. onclick) will produce such a leak? I don't see how it's even possible for an event handler to avoid a reference cycle, because the way I see it: The DOM element references the event handler. The event handler references the DOM (either directly or indirectly). In any case, it's almost impossible to avoid referencing window in any interesting event handler, short of writing a setInterval loop that reads actions from a global queue. Can someone provide a precise explanation of the JavaScript ↔ DOM circular reference problem? Things I'd like clarified: What browsers are effected? A comment in the jQuery source specifically mentions IE6-7, but the Google article suggests Firefox is also affected. Are expando properties and event handlers somehow different concerning memory leaks?     Hi, I have used WinDbg succesfully on a number of occasions to track down and fix memory leaks (or more accurately the CLRs inability to garbage collect a released object), but am stuck with one particular control. The control is displayed within a child window and when the window is closed a reference to the control remains and cannot be garbage collected. I have resolved what I believe to be the majority of the issues that could have caused the leak, but the !gcroot of the affected object is not clear (to me at least) as to what is still holding on to this object. What happens: when I click the MovieClip the trace action gets duplicated and the output window writes many "received" (even if the click is only one). What happens? How do I prevent this behaviour? What is causing this? Any help is appreciated. [SOLVED] I'm sorry, you will not believe this. A colleague, to make me a joke, converted the MOUSE_DOWN handler to MOUSE_OVER.

  • PHP file upload issue

    I am working on a PHP based, ticket management system. While creating a ticket, one can upload an attachment. I want to put a limit (say 10 MB) per file upload. To implement this I plan the following- 1. In php.ini set post_max_size = 10M 2.In PHP script which receives the POST- Since the file is larger than post_max_size, $_FILES[] will be empty. But I can still check the content-length header and discard the upload, if size more than 10M. While testing this I tried uploading a file of 1 GB and analysed the http traffic and this is what I found. - the entire 1 GB data is first uploaded to a to the server temporarily and discarded once the http request completes. Though I couldn't exactly find out where the file was getting saved(as it was not there in the temporary directory in the server.), but my http traffic analyzer showed that the browser did send 1 GB data to the server. - the PHP script execution started only after completion of the http request(i.e after uploading the entire 1 GB) Now I have 2 concerns: a) People may exploit my server bandwidth by trying to upload large file, which I will have to discard anyways. b) Even worse, if someone starts uploading a huge file (say 100 GB), entire 100 GB data is first uploaded to the server temporarily, that means for that period, it will consume that much of memory on my server. What's the common solution for this. Am I missing something here?

  • Makefile issue with compiling a C++ program

    I recently got MySQL compiled and working on Cygwin, and got a simple test example from online to verify that it worked. The test example compiled and ran successfully. However, when incorporating MySQL in a hobby project of mine it isn't compiling which I believe is due to how the Makefile is setup, I have no experience with Makefiles and after reading tutorials about them, I have a better grasp but still can't get it working correctly.
