  • Why is Chrome ignoring my CSS selector?

    - by janoChen
    In the following page http://ada.kiexpro.com/test2/map.html I added: white-space: normal; to wrap the copyright text that is coming our from the Google map API. It works in FF and IE but Chrome seems to ignore the CSS selector: global.css: #cm_map span { white-space: normal !important; }

  • How can I show just the icon of the currently selected option?

    - by Paul Tomblin
Is it possible to have a bunch of <select> dropdowns in html that only display a small (say 10 pixels wide) icon, but when you click it the drop down has a list with the icons beside a descriptive string. (Let's see if ASCII art works on SO): [X] | X - Disable | | v/ - Enable | | O - Ignore | +-------------+ [O] [v] [X] Can that be done in CSS? Or in jQuery?

  • [[alloc] init] as a factory method

    - by iter
I want to initialize an instance of one of the subclasses of a superclass depending on the arguments to init: [[Vehicle alloc] initWithItinerary: shortWay]; // returns a bicycle [[Vehicle alloc] initWithItinerary: longWay]; // returns a car I can't find examples of code like this. I wonder if this is not idiomatic in Objective C, or I simply am not looking in the right places.

  • Using functions and environments

    - by Eduardo Leoni
Following the recent discussions here (e.g. 1, 2 ) I am now using environments in some of my code. My question is, how do I create functions that modify environments according to its arguments? For example: y <- new.env() with(y, x <- 1) f <- function(env,z) { with(env, x+z) } f(y,z=1) throws Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : object 'z' not found I am using environments to keep concurrently two sets of simulations apart (without refactoring my code, which I wrote for a single set of experiments).

  • What is your favourite online JavaScript reference manual? [closed]

    - by daniel.sedlacek
I'm an object oriented programmer and am looking for a good JavaScript online reference manual. The ideal reference manual should contain: compendious, I'm not looking for ECMA standard reference. type specific, even if JavaScript is not strongly typed, function arguments and returns have a type. browser specific, no matter the standards every browser is different. contain examples be available online. What is your favorite online JavaScript reference manual?

  • matplotlib equivalent for MATLABs truesize()

    - by Lucas
I am new to matplotlib and python and would like to display an image so that 1 pixel of the image is actually represented by 1 pixel in the figure. In MATLAB, this is achieved with the command truesize(). How can I do this in Python? I tried playing around with the imshow() arguments as well as set_dpi() and set_figwidth()/set_figheight(), but with no luck. Thanks.

  • How do Perl FIRSTKEY and NEXTKEY work

    - by mmccoo
Tie::Hash has these: sub FIRSTKEY { my $a = scalar keys %{$_[0]}; each %{$_[0]} } sub NEXTKEY { each %{$_[0]} } NEXTKEY takes two arguments, one of which is the last key but that arg is never referenced? The various Tie docs don't shed any light on this other than this in perltie: my $a = keys %{$self->{LIST}}; # reset each() iterator looking at the doc for each doesn't add to this. What's going on?

  • Is there a way to prevent a ToolWindow from being closed?

    - by brunoqc
Is there a way to hide the "X" closing icon of a ToolWindow or is there a way to use IVsWindowFrameNotify3's OnShow method to discard (ignore) the event? It seems that the OnClose method is called only when VS exit. When the ToolWindow is called, the OnShow method is called with the __FRAMESHOW.FRAMESHOW_WinHidden state. thanks

  • Copying an entire table with Postgres

    - by NudeCanalTroll
Hello, I'm trying to copy the contents of one table into another in Postgres, however it appears some rows aren't being copied correctly: ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: PGError: ERROR: column "email_date" is of type timestamp without time zone but expression is of type character varying HINT: You will need to rewrite or cast the expression. Is there any way I can have it automatically skip (or ignore) invalid rows? Here's the query I'm using: SET statement_timeout = 0; INSERT INTO emails3 SELECT * FROM emails

  • Matching Strings: a biological perspective

    - by sun
Write a function, called constrainedMatchPair which takes three arguments: a tuple representing starting points for the first substring, a tuple representing starting points for the second substring, and the length of the first substring. The function should return a tuple of all members (call it n) of the first tuple for which there is an element in the second tuple (call it k) such that n+m+1 = k, where m is the length of the first substring. Complete the definition def constrainedMatchPair(firstMatch, secondMatch, length):

  • Parameter pack argument consumption

    - by yuri kilochek
It is possible to get the first element of the parameter pack like this template <typename... Elements> struct type_list { }; template <typename TypeList> struct type_list_first_element { }; template <typename FirstElement, typename... OtherElements> struct type_list_first_element<type_list<FirstElement, OtherElements...>> { typedef FirstElement type; }; int main() { typedef type_list<int, float, char> list; typedef type_list_first_element<list>::type element; return 0; } but not possible to similary get the last element like this template <typename... Elements> struct type_list { }; template <typename TypeList> struct type_list_last_element { }; template <typename LastElement, typename... OtherElements> struct type_list_last_element<type_list<OtherElements..., LastElement>> { typedef LastElement type; }; int main() { typedef type_list<int, float, char> list; typedef type_list_last_element<list>::type element; return 0; } with gcc 4.7.1 complaining: error: 'type' in 'struct type_list_last_element<type_list<int, float, char>>' does not name a type What paragraps from the standard describe this behaviour? It seems to me that template parameter packs are greedy in a sense that they consume all matching arguments, which in this case means that OtherElements consumes all three arguments (int, float and char) and then there is nothing left for LastElement so the compilation fails. Am i correct in the assumption? EDIT: To clarify: I am not asking how to extract the last element from the parameter pack, i know how to do that. What i actually want is to pick the pack apart from the back as opposed to the front, and as such recursing all the way to the back for each element would be ineffective. Apparentely reversing the sequence beforehand is the most sensible choice.
