• IIS7 FastCGI downloads quit at 4128760 bytes on slow connections

  I'm using FastCGI via IIS7 to host a PHP application. For whatever reason downloads that are streamed via PHP (i.e. a script that outputs a file/bytes as a response) download perfectly fine on high-speed connections but on anything slower (even on DSL) quits at EXACTLY 4128760 bytes (~3.9MB) - which makes me think it's a configuration issue... We only started having this problem when we switched from Apache to IIS - this also points to a configuration problem, I think. But if it's a configuration issue, why would it only affect slower connections? Does anyone know where (or how) I could possibly change a setting like this? I've tried changing the idleTimeout, executionTimeout, and activityTimeout values in my web.config but this hasn't helped at all. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. • Is there a Linux kernel boot parameter to configure an IPv6 address?

  I know there is a parameter named ip which lets you configure IPv4 addresses on the Linux kernel through the boot loader. That looks like the following: ip=192.0.2.1::192.0.2.62:255.255.255.192::eth0:none I'm looking for an equal parameter for IPv6 configuration. I couldn't find anything about this in the kernel documentations. Update: Because of a lot of you asked why I would need this: The idea to use a kernel configuration came up related to this problem. I suspect the regular boot-up interface configuration is not done, because the interfaces are already up. The reason for this could be that I'm using a pre-boot environment with a Dropbear SSH server to allow me to unlock my encrypted root partition. The IP addresses for this environment are configured through GRUB with the ip= parameter. There is no DHCP or Router Advertisement available on that Ethernet segment and as this is the uplink segment provided by a large hosting company, there is no way to change that fact.

• Apache web server: "proxying" a webapp from another server?

  Sorry for the lame terminology - I'm no way a sysadmin... So here's the deal. I have two Linux boxes in the same network, let's refer to those boxes by their IPs, a.b.c.d and e.f.g.h. Each box runs some webapp, normally available like http://a.b.c.d/ and http://e.f.g.h/. What I want to accomplish is this: with some Apache web server (which by the way lives on both boxes) configuration voodoo, the first app would be available via http://a.b.c.d/whatever1/, and the 2nd app would be available as http://a.b.c.d/whatever2/ - but would still reside on another server (e.f.g.h). Long story short - is it at all possible to do this with Apache configuration magic and without touching the webapps and their configuration? If so - how? :) Thanks in advance!

I have a VS package project that needs to connect to a WCF service that provides some functionality. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this name could be found in the client element. My guess is that it's taking the configuration file for Visual Studio (since it is running VS experimental mode). So yeah...why isn't it recognizing the app.config file and how could I make the application to recognize it? Any help would be very welcomed as I have already tried to fix this for some time. The initial and default configuration is very easy, but how do I swap configuration files after code is checked out and before unit tests are run. I am using TFS, NUnit. 1. When working locally I have configuration file pointing to local server. 2. On the build server TeamCity get's notification that I have checked-in code and builds new version. 3. Server runs unit tests When on 3rd step server runs unit tests I need to swap configuration files that are pointing to other servers, not the ones I am using locally.   Where is the configuration manager for SQL Express 2005? I need to configure SQL Server for TCP/IP but there is no configuration manager with the package. I see SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard, I see SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access, but no Configuration Manager. According to the MSDN, there should be one. I've even looked online for a download of the Configuration Manager for SQL Server 2005, but could not find one. Did I miss something in the download or should I just scrap SQL Server Express and download the full-blown SQL Server for Developers?

• web.config transforms not being applied on either publish or build installation package

  Today I started playing with the web.config transforms in VS 2010. To begin with, I attempted the same hello world example that features in a lot of the blog posts on this topic - updating a connection string. I created the minimal example shown below (and similar to the one found in this blog). The problem is that whenever I do a right-click - "Publish", or a right-click - "Build Deployment Package" on the .csproj file, I'm not getting the correct output. Rather than a transformed web.config, I'm getting no web.config, and instead the two transform files are included. What am I doing wrong? Any help gratefully received!   After having made several attempts to migrate from a ColdFusion 8 Standard server to a ColdFusion 10 Standard server, it feels like I am "almost" there. I'm using the 64 bit installer from Adobe's website. I'm using a Windows Server 2008 (64 bit) server with IIS 7.0. The installation itself goes smooth and the services start and are running. But at the end of the installation it says "ColdFusion Installed, but with errors" and it generates a log file. The log file reads: Migration Error: : Check that "C:\ColdFusion8" is a valid directory and is an installation of either ColdFusion MX 6 or ColdFusionMX 7 and further down says: Status: WARNING Additional Notes: WARNING - Could not migrate settings from previous version of ColdFusion Custom Action: com.macromedia.ia.action.MigrateColdFusionAction Status: ERROR Additional Notes: ERROR - class com.macromedia.ia.action.MigrateColdFusionAction NonfatalInstallException null The applicationHost.config file has new XML referencing the ColdFusion 10 directory, but IIS is still using ColdFusion 8. I'm also going to guess that the settings in the CF Administrator have not been migrated based on the message in the log above. I've followed the instructions on Adobe's site, including ensuring that ASP.NET, CGI, ISAPI Extensions, and ISAPI Filters are all enabled. • Apache start failing after apache config modifications, showing syntax error, cannot load php5apache2_2.dll into server

  I am stuck again with apache setup guys. I am working on a Windows 7 system. I copied the working php5 installation directory from teammates, copied the necessary .dll files from inside php5 installation folder (like they were in the working setup of teammates) to my windows/system32/. Apache server started successfully with the default apache config file. I was able to access localhost in browser. But php code was not parsing. I noticed no such line like the following in the apache config file:- # PHP5 module LoadModule php5_module D:/php5/php5apache2_2.dll If I add this line, apache server start fails. Running test configuration gives the following error - httpd.exe: Syntax error on line 60 of C:/Program Files (x86)/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load D:/php5/php5apache2_2.dll into server: The specified procedure could not be found. But the dll file is there in the specified location and I have given all permissions to the current system user to the php5 installation directory. The same line also appears in the apache error log, though I am not sure when exactly logs are written to the log file. I am confused if log entries are not made if I have opened the log file for reading? lol ... because I could not observe a pattern in when entries are made. I saw some log entries being made, some not. Oh, why is apache setup such a headache always????

• How have I locked me out from my Ubuntu VPS?

  I have a Ubuntu Server as VPS (OpenVZ), and yesterday I installed php-fpm, but I guess something went wrong with the installation. Because since then I cannot log in to my server over SSH with PuTTY or using WinSCP. The message I get when connecting is Network error: Connection timed out. Immediately after the installation I was not able to use emacs either, I had to re-install it with apt-get install emacs. I have tried with clearing the firewall and rebooting the server from my web-based "control panel", but it doesn't help. The commands I used for installation of the PHP-fpm was from Installing PHP 5.3, Nginx And PHP-fpm On Ubuntu/Debian. Finally, I have backup on everything so nothing is lost if I have to re-install the machine.

• Dialog box tells me there's a missing driver when installing 64-bit version of Windows 7

  I'm trying to install Windows 7 64-bit on my computer (ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, one 80GB HDD and two 1 TB HDDs). When I'm supposed to select whether I want to Upgrade or do a Custom install, I get a dialog box telling me: Load Driver A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step. I've tried to reach this step using a 32-bit installation disc, but that doesn't generate this message at all. Through the command windows (shift-F10) I can reach all of my drives, including my optical drive, without any problems--so what kind of device driver is it the installation wants? I've tried all the obvious drivers on the CD that followed my motherboard, but I can't seem to find the right one. The problem is that I don't know what device I'm supposed to load the drivers for in the first place. Can anyone help me? Edit: It turned out that my downloaded image was corrupted. I borrowed a DVD from a friend of mine, which worked!

• Ignore non-unicode programs language when installing software

  This is something that is driving me nuts for a while and I haven't been able to find a solution for this problem anywhere. I am running Windows 7 and my "Language for non-Unicode programs" setting is set to Russian. I need for some non-unicode software that has a Russian UI. However, for most of my software I prefer to use the English UI. A lot of software out there is multilingual and is too smart for my liking. When installing, it switches the UI to Russian and the software UI stays in Russian after the installation without an option to change that, besides setting the "non-unicode language" to English. It switches back to Russian once I revert the setting and reboot. Most of the time it is driver software, i.e: Intel, HP, etc. How can force the installation to run English and stay that way after install, ignoring the "Language for non-Unicode programs" setting? Now, I understand this might be specific to the installer: MSI, Install Shield, etc. But any solution will be good, even if I have to apply it for every software installation. • How can I install .NET framework 3.5 on XP machines without internet connection?

  I want to install .NET framework 3.5 on a couple of machines that do not have internet access. If I install the "no internet access"-package it still wants to download something. How can I figure out what is missing? Are there other installation packages? Edit: I would present screenshots but I cannot upload anything from here and the shots would be in german. So I present only the text translated back to english... Installing the "full redistributable package": At the bottom of the license agreement page it display this text: Size of download file: 67 MB Appoximate download time: 2h 44min (56KBit/s) 18min (512KBit/s) It shows the text even if I installed Windows Installer 3.1. After agreeing it displays the "Download and Installation Status"-Dialog with a progress bar labeled "Download:" and Status: Connection to server attempted (try X of 5). Total Download Status: 56MB/67MB I tried it in a VM with no network connection. It tries 5 times while the progress bar shows progress. Later the progress bar is labeled "Installation:". Even later it reports problems during setup and provides two buttons "Send Report Later" and "Don't Send". Now here it comes: "Setup completed" and "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 has been deinstalled successfully." (Emphasis is mine) "It is recommended to install current service packs and security updates. More information at Windows Update (link)." Edit2: Installed Service Pack 3, but still no success.

• Cake Php After Php GD library installation comes error as appending 'index.php' in urls

  I am using using Cake PHP with nginx server, inorder to enable captcha support , I installed the PHP GD library to server After the installation , All the urls in cake php is appended with 'index.php' Like www.mydomain.com/index.php instead of www.mydomain.com There cake php HtmlHelper link and image function, it all appending url "/index.php/img/flower.jpg" instead "/img/flower.jpg". Please help to solve this problem..
