Could not load type 'System.Data.Entity.Design.AspNet.EntityDesignerBuildProvider'. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Config\web.config 129 I want to build views while I'm debugging, and I also want my project compile! Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Asp.NET MVC ActionFilter cannot get Form Submit data

    - by Goden
I want to use custom action filter to manipulate parameters to one action. User inputs: 2 names in a form ; Action: actually needs to take 2 ids; Action Filter (onExecuting, will verify the input names and if valid, convert them into 2 ids and replace in the routedata) because i don't want to put validation logic in Action Controller. here's part of the code: Routing Info routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index"} // Parameter defaults ); routes.MapRoute( "RelationshipResults", // Route Name "Relationship/{initPersonID}/{targetPersonID}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Relationship", action = "Results" }); Form to submit (Create 2 input box and submit via jquery) <% using (Html.BeginForm("Results", "Relationship", FormMethod.Post, new { id = "formSearch" })) {% ... <td align="left"><%: MvcWeibookWeb.Properties.Resource.Home_InitPersonName%></td> <td align="right"> <%= Html.TextBox("initPersonName")%></td> <td rowspan="3" valign="top"> <div id="sinaIntro"> <%: MvcWeibookWeb.Properties.Resource.Home_SinaIntro %> <br /> <%: MvcWeibookWeb.Properties.Resource.Genearl_PromotionSina %> </div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left" width="90px"><%: MvcWeibookWeb.Properties.Resource.Home_TargetPersonName%></td> <td align="right"><%= Html.TextBox("targetPersonName")%></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="right"> <a href="#" class="btn-HomeSearch" onclick="$('#formSearch').submit();"><%: MvcWeibookWeb.Properties.Resource.Home_Search%></a> </td> Action Filter public override void OnActionExecuting(ActionExecutingContext filterContext) { Sina.Searcher searcher = new Sina.Searcher(Sina.Processor.UserNetwork); String initPersonName, targetPersonName; // form submit names, we need to process them and convert them to IDs before it enters the real controller. initPersonName = filterContext.RouteData.Values["initPersonName"] as String; targetPersonName = filterContext.RouteData.Values["targetPersonName"] as String; // do sth to convert it to ids and replace Action/Controller [ValidationActionFilter] [HandleError] public ActionResult Results( Int64 initPersonName, Int64 targetPersonName) { ... My problem is: in the actionFilter, it never gets the 2 parameter "initPersonName" and "targetPersonName", the RouteData.Values don't contain these 2 keys... :(

  • Using Castle Windsor with FluentValidation In MVC

    - by user332022
I'm working on getting FluentValidation working with Castle Windsor. I already have a wrapper around Castle Windsor. Here is the code for that: public class ResolveType { private static IWindsorContainer _windsorContainer; public static void Initialize( IWindsorContainer windsorContainer ) { _windsorContainer = windsorContainer; } public static T Of() { return _windsorContainer.Resolve(); } } I am trying to build the FluentValidation factory as is explained at http://www.jeremyskinner.co.uk/2010/02/22/using-fluentvalidation-with-an-ioc-container The article uses StructureMap, but I thought I could adapt it to Castle Windsor like this: public class CastleWindsorValidatorFactory : ValidatorFactoryBase { public override IValidator CreateInstance( Type validatorType) { return ResolveType.Of(); } } Notice, I'm just trying to call into my wrapper so that Windsor can resolve the type reference. The problem is that this doesn't compile. I get 'The type or namespace name 'validatorType' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)' How can I make this work?

  • Validate checkboxes in MVC form

    - by Frode Lillerud
Hi, I have a table in an ASP.NET MVC2 form. On each row in the table there is a checkbox. Underneath the table there is a submitbutton. I want to make the button disabled when NONE of the checkboxes are selected. <% using Html.BeginForm(....) { %> <table> <% foreach (var item in Model) { %> <tr> <td> <input type="checkbox" name="selectedContacts" /> </td></tr> <% } //End foreach %> </table> <% } //End using %> <input type="submit" value="Create selection" name="CreateSelectionAction" /> The number of lines/checkboxes will vary from 1 to many. How can I use MVC2/jQuery to require the user to selected minimum one checkbox before clicking Submit button? Edit; Of the three answers below I couldn't get any of them to work. Nothing happens when clicking the checkboxes, and no Javascript errors are raised. Setting up a small bounty.

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 validation LINQ to SQL

    - by Chino
Currently I have a DataModel object which contains my linq to sql classes(a dmbl file). Currently I use a partial class to validate the incoming input. For example public partial class User : IEntity { public NameValueCollection CheckModel() { return GetRuleViolations(); } /// <summary> /// Method validates incoming data, by given rules in the if statement. /// </summary> /// <returns>NameValueCollection</returns> private NameValueCollection GetRuleViolations() { NameValueCollection errors = new NameValueCollection(); if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(Username)) errors.Add("Username", "A username is required"); // and so on return errors; } } Now what I want to try to do is add validation attributes to the fields. For example I want to try to add the required attribute to the field Username instead/in addtion of using the validation I currently have. My question is how can I achieve this because the dmbl file is auto generated. Or maybe it is not possible and should I use a different approach?

  • Asp.Net MVC Create/Update/Delete with composite key

    - by nubm
    Hi, I'm not sure how to use composite key. My Categories table has CategoryId (PK,FK), LanguageId (PK,FK), CategoryName CategoryId | LanguageId | CategoryName 1 | 1 | Car 1 | 2 | Auto 1 | 3 | Automobile etc. I'm following this design The default action looks like // // GET: /Category/Edit/5 public ActionResult Edit(int id) { return View(); } and ActionLink <%= Html.ActionLink("Edit", "Edit", new { id= item.CategoryId }) %> Should I use something like <%= Html.ActionLink("Edit", "Edit", new { id= (item.CategoryId + "-" + item.LanguageId) }) %> so the url is /Category/Edit/5-5 and // // GET: /Category/Edit/5-5 public ActionResult Edit(string id) { // parse id return View(); } or change the route to something like /Category/Edit/5/5 Or there is some better way?

  • Using Jquery UI Tab control in ASP.NET MVC

    - by mike3333
I am new to jquery and am trying out UI plugins. For some reason this following code does not work, in the sense, it does not render the tabs and it's just a bunch of text. But when I copy the page source and paste it in the html page, and put it in the views folder, everything looks great, so , I assume all the js paths are good. Any ideas? <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> Details $(document).ready(function() { $("#tabs").tabs(); }); <div id="tabs"> <ul> <li><a href="#tabs-1">Text 1</a></li> <li><a href="#tabs-2">Text 2</a></li> <li><a href="#tabs-3">Text 3</a></li> </ul> <div id="tabs-1"> <div>tab1 content - adsfadfadsf</div> </div> <div id="tabs-2"> <div>tab 2 content -adfadfadf </div> </div> <div id="tabs-3"> <div>tab 3 content -adfadfadfadf</div> </div> </div> </div>

  • ASP.NET MVC Route Default values

    - by Sadegh
hi, i defined two routes in global.asax like below context.MapRoute("HomeRedirect", "", new { controller = "Home", action = "redirect" }); context.MapRoute("UrlResolver", "{culture}/some", new { culture = "en-gb", controller = "someController", action = "someAction" }, new { culture = new CultureRouteConstraint() }); according to above definition, when user request mysite.com/ redirect action of HomeController should be called and in that: public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Redirect() { return RedirectToRoute("UrlResolver"); } } i want to redirect user to second defined route on above, so also i specified default values for that and some Constraint for each of those. but when RedirectToRoute("UrlResolver") turns, no default values passed to routeConstraints on second route and No route in the route table matches the supplied values shows. update my CultureRouteConstraint: public class CultureRouteConstraint : IRouteConstraint { bool IRouteConstraint.Match(HttpContextBase httpContext, Route route, string parameterName, RouteValueDictionary values, RouteDirection routeDirection) { try { var parameter = values[parameterName] as string; return (someCondition(parameter)); } catch { return false; } } } now values parameter haven't culture key/value, but route parameter have that.

  • MVC moq unit test the object before RedirecToAction()

    - by Daoming Yang
I want to test the data inside the "item" object before it redirect to another action. public ActionResult WebPageEdit(WebPage item, FormCollection form) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { item.Description = Utils.CrossSiteScriptingAttackCheck(item.Description); item.Content = Utils.CrossSiteScriptingAttackCheck(item.Content); item.Title = item.Title.Trim(); item.DateUpdated = DateTime. Now; // Other logic stuff here webPagesRepository.Save(item); return RedirectToAction("WebPageList"); } Here is my Test method: [Test] public void Admin_WebPageEdit_Save() { var controller = new AdminController(); controller.webPagesRepository = DataMock.WebPageDataInit(); controller.categoriesRepository = DataMock.WebPageCategoryDataInit(); FormCollection form = DataMock.CreateWebPageFormCollection(); RedirectToRouteResult actionResult = (RedirectToRouteResult)controller.WebPageEdit(webPagesRepository.Get(1), form); Assert.IsNotNull(actionResult); Assert.AreEqual("WebPageList", actionResult.RouteValues["action"]); var item = ((ViewResult)controller.WebPageEdit(webPagesRepository.Get(1), form)).ViewData.Model as WebPage; Assert.NotNull(item); Assert.AreEqual(2, item.CategoryID); } It failed at this line: var item = ((ViewResult)controller.WebPageEdit(webPagesRepository.Get(1), form)).ViewData.Model as WebPage; I am thinking about is there any ways to test the "item" object before it redirect to other actions?

  • C# asp.net EF MVC postgresql error 23505: Duplicate key violates unique constraint

    - by user2721755
EDIT: It was issue with database table - dropping and recreating table id column did the work. Problem solved. I'm trying to build web application, that is connected to postgresql database. Results are displaying in view with Kendo UI. When I'm trying to add new row (with Kendo UI 'Add new record' button), I get error 23505: 'Duplicate key violates unique constraint'. My guess is, that EF takes id to insert from the beginning, not the last one, because after 35 (it's number of rows in table) tries - and errors - adding works perfectly. Can someone help me to understand, what's wrong? • jquery Fullcalendar : dynamic events function asp.net mvc

    - by Eran
Hi, I'm integrating Fullcalendar into my app. Consider a manager interface where he can select an employee and then view this employee's calendar. Now basically I'm using the following jquery code in my view: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#calendar").fullCalendar({ defaultView: 'agendaWeek', isRTL: true, axisFormat: 'HH:mm', editable: true, events: "/Scheduler/CalendarData" }); }); </script> Now I would like to have the controller function assigned to the events to retrieve the specific user selected by the manager: events: "/Scheduler/CalendarData/<current_user_name> Is there any way to retrieve the selected employee user name from the view (or rather pass it to the view from the controler) and then pass it onto the bound events function? I hope I was clear enough... Thanks in Advance, Eran

  • How to pass data between pages without sessions in ASP.net MVC

    - by Ashwani K
Hello All: I have one application in which I want to pass data between Pages (Views) without sessions. Actually I want to apply some settings to all the pages using query string. For example if my link is like "http://example.com?data=test1", then I want to append this query string to all the link there after and if there is no query string then normal flow. I was thinking if there is any way that if we get the query string in any link for the web application then some application level user specific property can be set which can be used for subsequent pages. Thanks, Ashwani

  • How to return model state from child action handler in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Joe Future
In my blog engine, I have one controller action that displays blog content, and in that view, I call Html.RenderAction(...) to render the "CreateComment" form. When a user posts a comment, the post is handled by the comment controller (not the blog controller). If the comment data is valid, I simply return a Redirect back to the blog page's URL. If the comment data is invalid (e.g. comment body is empty), I want to return the ViewData with the error information back to the blog controller and through the blog view to the CreateComment action/view so I can display which fields are bad. I have this working fine via AJAX when Javascript is enabled, but now I'm working on the case where Javascript might be disabled. If I return a RedirecToAction or Redirect from the comment controller, the model state information is lost. Any ideas?

Server.HtmlDecode("Österreich") HttpUtility.UrlDecode("Österreich") Neither seems to be helping. What else can I try to get my desired result?

  • Handling 2 buttons submit Actions in a single View/Form - ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM

    - by Leniel Macaferi
I have a View in which the user is able to upload a file to the server. In this view I also have 2 buttons: one to Upload a file and other to Download the last file imported. In my Controller I created 2 action methods: Import and Export. How could I manage to redirect each button click to the proper action method in my Controller? I have tried Html.ActionLink: <%= Html.ActionLink("Upload", "Import", "OracleFile")%> <%= Html.ActionLink("Download", "Export", "OracleFile")%> Html.ActionLink didn't do the trick. The action links were taking me to the right Action methods but they were generating a GET request. This way Request.Files.Count = 0. I need a POST request. Note: the most intriguing part is that the upload was working and all of sudden it stopped working. I've seen that some people are having the same problem with FileUpload tasks in which the Request.Files is always Empty. I think it's empty because you need a post to the server. Isn't it?

  • ASP.NET MVC 1.0: OutputCache, RenderPartial and WriteSubstitution

    - by David
Hi folks, after digging into this topic and having the requirement, that a single page should be totally cached, except for a Html.RenderPartial("LogOnUserControl"); i couldn't find any working solution on this... the only "it getting warmer" thing i foudn was this solution , which unfortunately is not working with a "partial view", which requires the Request.IsAuthenticated attribute ( the fakeContext is losing this info ) Have you heard of any other solution to do this?!

  • Some questions about slugs in ASP.NET MVC content system

    - by mare
In my application I'm currently using forms which allow to enter Title and Slug fields. Now I've been struggling with the slugs thing for a while because I can never decide once and for all how to handle them. 1) Make Title and Slug indenpendent Should I allow users to enter both Title and Slug separetely? This is what I had first. I also had an option that if user did not enter the Slug it was derived from the Title. If both were enter, the Slug field took precedence. 2) Derive Slug from Title, when content is inserted that's it for the Slug, no more changes Then, I switched to only Title field and derive Slug from title. While doing it I found out that now I have to change all the forms that allowed user to enter a slug. This way of doing it also prevents users to change Slugs - they can change the Title but it has no effect on the Slug. You can think of it like Slug is uniqued ID. 3) Now I'm thinking again of allowing users to change slug Though I don't think it is all that useful. How many times does the content that someone already added, spent time on writing it, even require a change of either Title or slug? I don't think it is that many times. The biggest problem with the 3rd option is that If I use Slugs as IDs, I need to update the reference all over the place when Slug changes. Or maintain a table that would contain somekind of Slug history. What are you thoughts on these, I hope, valid questions?
