  • Eclipse question - panels don't get restored when double clicking

    You know how, in Eclipse, when you double click on a file tab (which shows the class name), the editor gets expanded to the whole screen minimizing other panels? Well normally I just double click again on the tab to restore everything, but all of the sudden double clicking again doesnt do anything (the editor remains in full screen and all other panels minimized)! I am not sure what I did to cause this. Any ideas how to get it back to normal? Thanks.

  • C++ Design Question on template types

    I have a templated class template <typename T> class MyContainerClass For types to be substituted for T, it has to satisfy many requirements: for example, get_id(), int data(), etc. Obviously none of the fundamental types (PODs) are substitutable. One way I can provide this is via wrappers for the PODs that provide these functions. Is this an acceptable way? Another way would be to change the template to: template < typename T, typename C=traits<T> > class MyContainerClass and inside MyContainerClass, call traits::data() instead of data() on T objects. I will specialize traits<int>, traits<const char *> etc. Is this good design ? How do I design such a traits class (completely static methods or allow for inheritance) ? Or are the wrapper classes a good solution? What other alternatives are there?

    Is it possible to write a MACRO that has a type and a value as its input parameters (MACRO(type,value)), and returns a valid pointer to a location that holds the submitted value. This macro should perform like the following function, but in a more generic manner: int *val_to_ptr(int val){ int *r = NULL; r = nm_malloc(sizeof(*r)); *r = val; return r; } Where nm_malloc() is a failsafe malloc. The Macro usage should be compatible with this usage: printf("%d",*MACRO(int,5)); Is it possible to achieve that ?

    My slides say that A recurssive call should always be on a smaller data structure than the current one There must be a non recurssive option if the data structure is too small You need a wrapper method to make the recurssive method accessible Just reading this from the slides makes no sence, especially seeing as it was a topic from before christmas!     Hello, I belong to Asp.Net but just starting to learn JSF. I wanted to know whether all features of MasterPage are available in JSF templating? I mean say suppose i have a menu in template, and based on roles menu changes. If the Admin logs in, he will get to show more options and if general user logs in he will get to see less options. Now i have a managed bean for my "real" page(not template). How do i use this managed bean to toggle my control in template on and Off?

  • A brief question about JS or AJAX

    I have been finding ways around this for a long time but think it's time I addressed it. If I have a page that has a dropdown menu, is there anyway I can select a value which will subsequently load other values further down. Can this be done without a page reload? I will give you an example. Say I was making some tools for an admin panel, but first of all they needed to select a member to work with. They would select the member and then below, the fields about that member would be populated based on what was selected in the first menu. As I have already asked, can this be done without a page reload? Thanks for reading.

    How can I get a specific value from an object? I'm trying to get a value of an instance for eg. ListOfPpl newListOfPpl = new ListOfPpl(id, name, age); Object item = newListOfPpl; How can I get a value of name from an Object item?? Even if it is easy or does not interest you can anyone help me?? Edited: I was trying to build a binary tree contains the node of ListOfPpl, and need to sort it in the lexicographic. Here's my code for insertion on the node.   • Oh no, Not another Undefined Reference Question!

    Unfortunately yes. I have my shared library compiled, the linker doesn't complain about not finding it but still I get undefined reference error. Thinking that I might be doing something wrong I did a little research and found this nice, simple walkthrough: http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/cpp/gcc/create_lib.html which I've followed to the letter but still I get: $ gcc -Wall main.c -o dynamically_linked -L.\ -lmean /tmp/ccZjkkkl.o: In function `main': main.c:(.text+0x42): undefined reference to `mean' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status This is pretty simple stuff so what's going wrong?!?!? Can anyone suggest something in my set up that might need checking/tweeking? GCC 4.3.2 Fedora 10 64-bit

I have the form emailed to me after it gets submitted, but I can't figure out how to capture the user's email from the form field and have it send it to them automatically???     Given a 1*N matrix or an array, how do I find the first 4 elements which have the same value and then store the index for those elements? PS: I'm just curious. What if we want to find the first 4 elements whose value differences are within a certain range, say below 2? For example, M=[10,15,14.5,9,15.1,8.5,15.5,9.5], the elements I'm looking for will be 15,14.5,15.1,15.5 and the indices will be 2,3,5,7.

    I'd like to know your opinion on a matter of coding style that I'm on the fence about. I realize there probably isn't a definitive answer, but I'd like to see if there is a strong preference in one direction or the other. I'm going through a solution adding using statements in quite a few places. Often I will come across something like so: { log = new log(); log.SomeProperty = something; // several of these log.Connection = new OracleConnection("..."); log.InsertData(); // this is where log.Connection will be used ... // do other stuff with log, but connection won't be used again } where log.Connection is an OracleConnection, which implements IDisposable. The neatnik in me wants to change it to: { log = new log(); using (OracleConnection connection = new OracleConnection("...")) { log.SomeProperty = something; log.Connection = conn; log.InsertData(); ... } } But the lover of brevity and getting-the-job-done-slightly-faster wants to do: { log = new log(); log.SomeProperty = something; using (log.Connection = new OracleConnection("...")) log.InsertData(); ... } For some reason I feel a bit dirty doing this. Do you consider this bad or not? If you think this is bad, why? If it's good, why?

    Hi, in Adobe tutorials, they suggest to create a class to handle the events (see below the copy/pasted code, and link to page).     IF both methods are declared as virtual, shouldn't both instances of Method1() that are called be the derived class's Method1()? I am seeing BASE then DERIVED called each time.   • Simple stream read/write question in java

    Hi, I'm trying to upload a file via URLConnection, but i need to read/write it as a binary file without any encoding changes. So i've tried to read byte[] array from FileInputStream, but now i have an issue. The PrintWriter object i use for outputing to the server does not allow me to do writer.write(content) (where content is of type byte[]). How can i fix this? Or is there another way to quickly copy binary data from a FileInputStream to a PrintWriter? Thank you

  • Question About NerdDinner Controller Constructors

    I've been looking at the Nerd Dinner app, more specifically how it handles its unit tests. The following constructors for the RSVPController are confusing my slightly public RSVPController() : this(new DinnerRepository()) { } public RSVPController(IDinnerRepository repository) { dinnerRepository = repository; } From what I can tell the second one is used by the unit tests so it can use Fake repositories. What I cant work out is what the first constructor does. It doesn't seem to ever set the dinnerRepository variable, it seems to imply its inheriting from something but I really don't get it. Can anyone explain? Thanks
