  • Dealloc'd Predicate crashing iPhone App!

    - by DVG
    To preface, this is a follow up to an inquiry made a few days ago: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2981803/iphone-app-crashes-when-merging-managed-object-contexts Short Version: EXC_BAD_ACCESS is crashing my app, and zombie-mode revealed the culprit to be my predicate embedded within the fetch request embedded in my Fetched Results Controller. How does an object within an object get released without an explicit command to do so? Long Version: Application Structure Platforms View Controller - Games View Controller (Predicated upon platform selection) - Add Game View Controller When a row gets clicked on the Platforms view, it sets an instance variable in Games View for that platform, then the Games Fetched Results Controller builds a fetch request in the normal way: - (NSFetchedResultsController *)fetchedResultsController{ if (fetchedResultsController != nil) { return fetchedResultsController; } //build the fetch request for Games NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Game" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [request setEntity:entity]; //predicate NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"platform == %@", selectedPlatform]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; //sort based on name NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; //fetch and build fetched results controller NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:request managedObjectContext:context sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; aFetchedResultsController.delegate = self; self.fetchedResultsController = aFetchedResultsController; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; [predicate release]; [request release]; [aFetchedResultsController release]; return fetchedResultsController; } At the end of this method, the fetchedResultsController's _fetch_request - _predicate member is set to an NSComparisonPredicate object. All is well in the world. By the time - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section gets called, the _predicate is now a Zombie, which will eventually crash the application when the table attempts to update itself. I'm more or less flummoxed. I'm not releasing the fetched results controller or any of it's parts, and the only part getting dealloc'd is the predicate. Any ideas?

  • Request URL in Javascript, Fetch URL Content using Java Applet, return to Javascript?

    - by Sam G
    I'm in the process of making a little experiment, it grabs a YouTube page, and returns the highest quality MP4 link, then plays this in a HTML 5 Video element. Now I was using PHP with cURL to get the URL content (YouTube), but that only works on my local server (MP4 link is locked to IP address). I can't think of any other way to get the page content due to cross domain rules except a Java applet. So I've built a Java applet that should return the content of a URL. Java import java.applet.Applet; import java.awt.*; import java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream; import java.io.InputStream; import java.net.HttpURLConnection; import java.net.URL; public class URLFetcherabc extends Applet { public void init() { } public void paint(Graphics g) { g.drawString("Java loaded. Waiting for URL", 0, 10); } public String getURL(String url, String httpMethod) { try { URL u = new URL(url); HttpURLConnection conn = (HttpURLConnection)u.openConnection(); conn.setRequestMethod(httpMethod); InputStream is = conn.getInputStream(); ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; for (int bytesRead = 0; (bytesRead = is.read(buffer)) != -1; ) { output.write(buffer, 0, bytesRead); } return output.toString(); } catch (Exception e) { }return null; } } Now I've got the applet on the page, but every-time I call the function it returns nothing. Heres my HTML for including the applet. HTML <applet id="URLFetcher" name="URLFetcher" code="URLFetcherabc.class" archive="URLFetcher.jar" height="200" width="200" mayscript=""></applet> Java-Script function fetchurl(urltofetch) { var URLFetcher = document.getElementById("URLFetcher"); var result = URLFetcher.getURL(urltofetch); //Result = URL Content return result; } The function always returns null, in Java the function does work when passed a variable via other means (parameter etc). I've tried running other functions through Javascript and the Java applet does respond. I'm new to Java applets and communicating with them via Javascript, so I'm probably making either a small mistake somewhere or its completely wrong. Any ideas? Thanks

  • Why did I get a 400 Bad Request when getting a page with PHP Curl?

    - by user307272
    Hi, I was trying to access a page using curl. I could access it perfectly using the browser and using "static" strings as the URL, like: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=1234" But when I tried to access the page using a variable in the URL string like: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=$param" I got a 400 error code. I checked out on the web and found some comments here in this stackoverflow thread: Then, just for curiosity I did the following: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=" . trim($param); and it worked! And no, $param did NOT contain any spaces. To me, it seems that it can be some encoding error, but I really can't find an explanation for it. Does anyone here in stackoverflow know what it can possibly be? Thanks in advance :)

    - by Rajendra Bhole
    Hi, I developing an application in which i calling web services on iphone. I want to implement Try.......Catch in that code for catching internet and GPRS connection error.The code is as follow, NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:mainURL5]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; NSHTTPURLResponse* urlResponse = nil; NSError *error = [[[NSError alloc] init] autorelease]; NSData *responseData = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&urlResponse error:&error]; result5 = [[NSMutableString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; I was using Try......catch but it didn't work that code as follows, @try { //prepar request NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:mainURL5]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; NSHTTPURLResponse* urlResponse = nil; NSError *error = [[[NSError alloc] init] autorelease]; NSData *responseData = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&urlResponse error:&error]; result5 = [[NSMutableString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; } @catch(NSException * e) { [clsMessageBox ShowMessageOK:@"some text" :[e reason]]; }

  • Using routing (?) to make GET request in Rails so ID doesn't show

    - by ale
    I have a link in one view myapp/locations that goes to myapp/statistics?id=1 (statistics for location with ID 1) which works fine but it doesn't look pretty. I think I've seen people do this sort of thing without needing the ?id=1? I could use a POST but this is not RESTful. Is there a way I can use routing to allow the user to go to myapp/statistics?id=1 but have the user see myapp/statistics? Many thanks.

  • jquery ajax request is Forbidden in IE. How to fix (any workaround)?

    - by 1gn1ter
    <script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $("select#oblast").change(function () { var oblast_id = $("#oblast > option:selected").attr("value"); $("#Rayondiv").hide(); $.ajax({ type: "GET", contentType: "application/json", url: "http://site.com/Regions.aspx/FindGorodByOblastID/", data: 'oblast_id=' + oblast_id, dataType: "json", success: function (data) { if (data.length > 0) { var options = ''; for (p in data) { var gorod = data[p]; options += "<option value='" + gorod.Id + "'>" + gorod.Name + "</option>"; } $("#gorod").removeAttr('disabled').html(options); } else { $("#gorod").attr('disabled', false).html(''); } } }); }); }); </script>

  • Has anyone properly interpreted HTTP request based on this demo of winpcap?

    - by httpinterpret
    The example is here, and I tried it by changing the filter to tcp and dst port 80 and the following: void packet_handler(u_char *param, const struct pcap_pkthdr *header, const u_char *pkt_data) { .... ip_len = (ih->ver_ihl & 0xf) * 4; tcp_len = (((u_char*)ih)[ip_len + 12] >> 4) * 4; tcpPayload = (u_char*)ih + ip_len + tcp_len; /* start of url - skip "GET " */ url = tcpPayload + 4; end_url = strchr((char*)url, ' '); url_length = end_url - url; final_url = (u_char*)malloc(url_length + 1); strncpy((char*)final_url, (char*)url, url_length); final_url[url_length] = '\0'; printf("%s\n", final_url); .... } But through debug, I see tcpPayload is full of messy code,not supposed "GET ..." stuff. What's wrong with my implement?

  • problems piping in node.js

    - by alvaizq
    We have the following example in node.js var http = require('http'); http.createServer(function(request, response) { var proxy = http.createClient(8083, '127.0.0.1') var proxy_request = proxy.request(request.method, request.url, request.headers); proxy_request.on('response', function (proxy_response) { proxy_response.pipe(response); response.writeHead(proxy_response.statusCode, proxy_response.headers); }); setTimeout(function(){ request.pipe(proxy_request); },3000); }).listen(8081, '127.0.0.1'); The example listen to a request in 127.0.0.1:8081 and sends it to a dummy server (always return 200 OK status code) in 127.0.0.1:8083. The problem is in the pipe among the input stream (readable) and output stream (writable) when we have a async module before (in this case the setTimeOut timing). The pipe doesn't work and nothing is sent to dummy server in 8083 port. Maybe, when we have a async call (in this case the setTimeOut) before the pipe call, the inputstream change to a state "not readable", and after the async call the pipe doesn't send anything. This is just an example...we test it with more async modules from node.js community with the same result (ldapjs, etc)... We try to fix it with: - request.readable =true; //before pipe call - request.pipe(proxy_request, {end : false}); with the same result (the pipe doesn't work). Can anybody help us? Many thanks in advanced and best regards,

  • How do you make the script wait for the status of an Ajax get request before continuing?

    - by codeninja
    Basically what I'm doing is checking for the existence of an object, if it's not found, the script will try to load the source file using getScript. I only want to check this once though then return true or false to the function that calls fetch() fetch:function(obj){ ... isReady = false; $.getScript(obj.srcFile,function(){ isReady=true; warn("was able to load object "+key); }); return isReady; } but return kicks in before the script loads =/ later the script is loaded but the function returned false. This is the beauty of asynchronous I suppose... What's the best way to handle this... Maybe I could check again at some other point if the object exists? Or maybe there's a better way to do this where I dont have to potentially lock the browser?

  • noob: how to show login error message on the same page after php server processes request.

    - by funbar
    Hi, I have a login page. User first enters information and submits the form. And I have a php script that will see if the user exists. If( authenticated == true) { // I do a redirect } else { // I want to popup an error message on the same page. } 1) I'm not sure how to show the popup message, I would like to make my div element visible with an error message returned from the server, I would have to use Ajax, right? But how? Or are there alternatives which are just as good.

  • How do I rewrite a request by hostname unless it is a specified value?

    - by Tim
    My app will have a regular domain - let's say example.com - which will have information about logging in, signing up, etc. It will also host numerous other domains dynamically. My app serves the webpage for these at http://example.com/site/foobar.com/ So, I need to redirect all requests where the hostname is not example.com to /site/[hostname]/ I'm writing this in Django and hosting with Apache. How do I set up a rewrite rule to do this? The user must not know they are on any other site but foobar.com and if the user browses to foobar.com/something - the URL must be rewritten to /site/foobar.com/something

  • Using Javascript to detect the bottom of the window and ignoring all events when a request is loading

    - by Aaron Reba
    I have an anonymous function to detect the user has scrolled to the bottom of the window. Inside of the anonymous function, I have a call to a database that takes a while to complete. var allowing_more = 1; $(window).scroll(function() { if (allowing_more == 1){ if ($(window).scrollTop() + $(window).height() == $(document).height()) { allowing_more = 0; //query allowing_more = 1; } } }); In this time, if the user scrolls to the bottom of the window again, it seems a queue is made holding the occurences the user scrolled to the bottom of the window while the query was loading. Upon completing of the query, these occurences are then executed. I have a boolean statement to detect if the anonymous function is accepting more query requests but this seems to be ignored. Is there some sort of way to ignore an anonymous function temporarily and re-enable it?

  • Are all "GET" requests to JSF "Initial Request"s?

    - by Pradyumna
    Hi, In JSF 1.1, I am assuming that GET requests are treated as initial requests (resulting in the creation of a new view), and POST requests are treated as Postbacks (resulting in the restoration of the old view). However, my application is behaving differently - it restores the same old view even for GET requests. Why does this happen? Is there a way to force the creation of a new view for GET requests? (My state-saving method is 'server'. I'm using MyFaces with JSP, and I have a t:saveState on a managed bean in the view) Regards, Pradyumna

  • How to send data many times to web browser in response to one request?

    - by robert_d
    I have a form on my web page, it allows to submit many queries to my website, every query is on a separate line in TextArea. Because waiting for all queries to complete is too long I would like to update the web page after every query completes - send result of one query to a web browser, new result should be appended to old results that are already on the web page. How to do this in ASP.NET MVC 2? I will be grateful for helpful responses.

  • Access database Need to prevent from approving overlapping OT.Second Try with modified request Not a programmer [on hold]

    - by user2512764
    Employees Signups on company Website for advance overtime line. Access table already has overtime signups which does not require user to add the time but it requires only to add location as approved. Since this table has field Employee name, Date, start time and End time and location, All the fields has the data except for location. In the data base I have created a form based on this table. Since the table already have most of the information User only has to add location in the form field in order to approve overtime. Once user approves an overtime line for example: User approves overtime for employee name 'John' which starts on 7/1/2013 at 0400-0800, location is successfully added. When user tries to add location for John again which might has the start time for 7/1/2013 at 0600=0900. Again we are not entering Start time, End time and date it is already in the table. we are only entering location as approval. Soon user enters the location for John in the form field, since there is a conflict with previously overtime line which has already been approved. program needs to check employee name, date and time in previously approved (Added location) overtime line and The location in current record needs to be deleted and go to next record. I hope I have explained it in understandable format. Thank You,

  • Load the main page if user visits a page meant for an ajax request?

    - by QAZ
    Hello, I am using jQuery for a simple website and have a main page 'index.html' which can load some content (e.g. 'info1.html' or 'info2.html') via jQuery ajax requests, and display the result of these requests inside an element in the 'index.html' page. If a user somehow visits say 'info1.html' directly, is their a way to redirect or load the main 'index.html' page? (or what's best practice for this type of thing) as Google is indexing all the small html files used for the ajax requests and sometimes a user can click into the site via these pages. Thanks.

  • SQL SERVER – PAGEIOLATCH_DT, PAGEIOLATCH_EX, PAGEIOLATCH_KP, PAGEIOLATCH_SH, PAGEIOLATCH_UP – Wait Type – Day 9 of 28

    - by pinaldave
    It is very easy to say that you replace your hardware as that is not up to the mark. In reality, it is very difficult to implement. It is really hard to convince an infrastructure team to change any hardware because they are not performing at their best. I had a nightmare related to this issue in a deal with an infrastructure team as I suggested that they replace their faulty hardware. This is because they were initially not accepting the fact that it is the fault of their hardware. But it is really easy to say “Trust me, I am correct”, while it is equally important that you put some logical reasoning along with this statement. PAGEIOLATCH_XX is such a kind of those wait stats that we would directly like to blame on the underlying subsystem. Of course, most of the time, it is correct – the underlying subsystem is usually the problem. From Book On-Line: PAGEIOLATCH_DT Occurs when a task is waiting on a latch for a buffer that is in an I/O request. The latch request is in Destroy mode. Long waits may indicate problems with the disk subsystem. PAGEIOLATCH_EX Occurs when a task is waiting on a latch for a buffer that is in an I/O request. The latch request is in Exclusive mode. Long waits may indicate problems with the disk subsystem. PAGEIOLATCH_KP Occurs when a task is waiting on a latch for a buffer that is in an I/O request. The latch request is in Keep mode. Long waits may indicate problems with the disk subsystem. PAGEIOLATCH_SH Occurs when a task is waiting on a latch for a buffer that is in an I/O request. The latch request is in Shared mode. Long waits may indicate problems with the disk subsystem. PAGEIOLATCH_UP Occurs when a task is waiting on a latch for a buffer that is in an I/O request. The latch request is in Update mode. Long waits may indicate problems with the disk subsystem. PAGEIOLATCH_XX Explanation: Simply put, this particular wait type occurs when any of the tasks is waiting for data from the disk to move to the buffer cache. ReducingPAGEIOLATCH_XX wait: Just like any other wait type, this is again a very challenging and interesting subject to resolve. Here are a few things you can experiment on: Improve your IO subsystem speed (read the first paragraph of this article, if you have not read it, I repeat that it is easy to say a step like this than to actually implement or do it). This type of wait stats can also happen due to memory pressure or any other memory issues. Putting aside the issue of a faulty IO subsystem, this wait type warrants proper analysis of the memory counters. If due to any reasons, the memory is not optimal and unable to receive the IO data. This situation can create this kind of wait type. Proper placing of files is very important. We should check file system for the proper placement of files – LDF and MDF on separate drive, TempDB on separate drive, hot spot tables on separate filegroup (and on separate disk), etc. Check the File Statistics and see if there is higher IO Read and IO Write Stall SQL SERVER – Get File Statistics Using fn_virtualfilestats. It is very possible that there are no proper indexes on the system and there are lots of table scans and heap scans. Creating proper index can reduce the IO bandwidth considerably. If SQL Server can use appropriate cover index instead of clustered index, it can significantly reduce lots of CPU, Memory and IO (considering cover index has much lesser columns than cluster table and all other it depends conditions). You can refer to the two articles’ links below previously written by me that talk about how to optimize indexes. Create Missing Indexes Drop Unused Indexes Updating statistics can help the Query Optimizer to render optimal plan, which can only be either directly or indirectly. I have seen that updating statistics with full scan (again, if your database is huge and you cannot do this – never mind!) can provide optimal information to SQL Server optimizer leading to efficient plan. Checking Memory Related Perfmon Counters SQLServer: Memory Manager\Memory Grants Pending (Consistent higher value than 0-2) SQLServer: Memory Manager\Memory Grants Outstanding (Consistent higher value, Benchmark) SQLServer: Buffer Manager\Buffer Hit Cache Ratio (Higher is better, greater than 90% for usually smooth running system) SQLServer: Buffer Manager\Page Life Expectancy (Consistent lower value than 300 seconds) Memory: Available Mbytes (Information only) Memory: Page Faults/sec (Benchmark only) Memory: Pages/sec (Benchmark only) Checking Disk Related Perfmon Counters Average Disk sec/Read (Consistent higher value than 4-8 millisecond is not good) Average Disk sec/Write (Consistent higher value than 4-8 millisecond is not good) Average Disk Read/Write Queue Length (Consistent higher value than benchmark is not good) Note: The information presented here is from my experience and there is no way that I claim it to be accurate. I suggest reading Book OnLine for further clarification. All of the discussions of Wait Stats in this blog is generic and varies from system to system. It is recommended that you test this on a development server before implementing it to a production server.
