  • SharePoint 2010 - Change table row /cell hover effect

    In SharePoint 2010 when you hover over a column heading (i.e. to sort) in a list table, you get a hover effect, how can you supress / change this? I can see it uses OnChildColumn(this), so is there a way to modify this - either preventing the effect (e.g. when sorting can't be done on a column), or using a different background image? Also want to do the same when you hover over a cell in any of the list table's contents.

  • Sharepoint Web Part validation set off by Publishing Controls

    I have a web part which uses validation on a textbox field to prevent submission of an empty field. When clicking on Check In to Share Draft or Publish, this validation is done, and since I am not actually trying to submit the form, but rather check it in, I'd rather this didn't happen. How can I achieve this?     Imagine I have something like the following text: The quick brown fox jumps in 2012 and 2013 And I would wish to delete the part from "fox" including the four numbers but only in the first occurrence so I end up with: The quick brown and 2013 Something likes this...: echo "The quick brown fox jumps in 2012 and 2013" \ | sed "s/fox.*\([0-9]\{4\}\)//g" ...brings me: The quick brown So it removed everything including the last occurrence of the four numbers. Any ideas?

    I have a website running on a Linux computer using Apache. I've employed mod_auth_kerb for single-sign-on Kerberos authentication against a Windows Active Directory server. In order for Kerberos to work correctly, I've created a service account in Active Directory called dummy. I've generated a keytab for the Linux web server using ktpass.exe on the Windows AD server using this command: ktpass /out C:\krb5.keytab /princ HTTP/[email protected] /mapuser [email protected] /crypto RC4-HMAC-NT /ptype KRB5_NT_PRINCIPAL /pass xxxxxxxxx I can successfully get a ticket from the Linux web server using this command: kinit -k -t /path/to/keytab HTTP/[email protected] ... and view the ticket with klist. I have also configured my web server with these Kerberos properties: <Directory /> AuthType Kerberos AuthName "Example.com Kerberos domain" KrbMethodK5Passwd Off KrbAuthRealms EXAMPLE.COM KrbServiceName HTTP/[email protected] Krb5KeyTab /path/to/keytab Require valid-user SSLRequireSSL <Files wsgi.py> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Files> </Directory> However, when I attempt to log in to the website (from another Desktop with username 'Jeff') my Kerberos credentials are not automatically accepted by the web server. It should grant me access immediately after that, but it does not.   • Baidu spider is hammering my server and bloating my error_log file

    I am getting the following errors in my /etc/httpd/logs/error_log file [Sun Oct 20 00:04:15 2013] [error] [client 180.76.5.16] File does not exist: /usr/local/apache/htdocs/homes [Sun Oct 20 00:08:31 2013] [error] [client 180.76.5.113] File does not exist: /usr/local/apache/htdocs/homes [Sun Oct 20 00:12:47 2013] [error] [client 180.76.5.88] File does not exist: /usr/local/apache/htdocs/homes [Sun Oct 20 00:17:07 2013] [error] [client 180.76.5.138] File does not exist: /usr/local/apache/htdocs/homes These kinds of errors are so often, that my error log files are over 500MB! I have done an IP trace on the client address to find that it belongs to something called baidu. Beijing Baidu Netcom Science and Technology Co in China. Is there a way that I can just get apache to deny any incoming requests from some crummy spider that is repeatedly hitting my site??? Is there a better way of dealing with the problem? I am happy to completely block out China if it means that I can actually track real errors.

How do I get back in the forms, so that the users can edit (and create) items including this column/field. The field is perfectly visible in "datasheet" mode where you can edit too but I would love to have the forms back in order :o)

    I'm using ISPConfig to setup all the websites on my server but I also like to try to fiddle with the files myself to see how it works. Like you guessed, yes, I've broken something. I can't access my webmail setup by default on the server with the alias /webmail (I access it via the http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx/webmail) Firefox tells me that The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. So I cleaned up my vhost files and the one of my websites work as intended, I think that the problem comes from my default.vhost.   • SharePoint MySite - Purge newsfeed activity?

    After setting up User Profile sync with AD I've noticed that the newsfeed section of each user's MySite is now flooded with lots of random notes detailing changes that have been pulled in about their (and their contacts') profiles. Is there anyway to purge this activity and stop updates from the sync service getting listed on the newsfeed? Our users are likely to find it strange getting updates about changes to their own profiles that they didn't make themselves.

  • SharePoint 2010 MySites - Simple explanation needed!

    I've been playing around with the 2010 beta for a couple of weeks, experimenting with topology options etc. I think I've got myself totally confused as to how it works hence if there's any SP experts out there that can explain things in simple terms for me I'd appreciate it! I want to setup a farm with 3 servers providing the content & MySites. I presume that the way to do this is to load balance or DNS round robin traffic between the 3 servers. The bit where I'm confused is that My Site Settings page asks for a specific My Site Host hence all my site traffic will be pushed to a single server even though we have 3 in the farm. If this hosts fails I presume MySites will be unavailable. Is this right? How do I configure it so that access to MySites is load balanced across the 3 servers in the farm?

  • SharePoint (2010) - Can't delete Service Application

    The search service application in our farm went bonkers complaining that it couldn't connect to itself. After multiple people fiddling to try and fix it we've ended up with two search application. The new one, which is working perfectly, and the original one which is very unhappy. I've tried deleting the original Search App in Central Admin but it just won't go - it sits on the screen saying "Processing" but it never completes regardless of how long it is left. There's lot's happening in the logs but I can't really decipher exactly why this isn't working. Things are working fine within the farm but I'd ideally like to clean up this old application if possible. Are there any other options like deleting it with stsadm? I've had a dig but can't seem to find the commands to enumerate the service applications and then delete the correct one.
