• How to transfer visitors to the servers closes to them and where to place the servers?

  I am focusing on providing fast page refreshes for my visitors and I wonder where is the smartest spot to place my servers on? I understand that the best would be to place a server in every country or even city, but that is of course not doable with my economy. I am thinking of maybe setting up three servers, one in the middle of USA (Kansas?), one in Italy and one in Sweden. What do you think about that? I don't care about Africa since they haven't even got computers so I won't get traffic from there anyway. China, North Korea etc are probably just visiting chinese websites, they barely know english anway... The next problem is how do I redirect a visitor from Finland to the Swedish server? I don't want the visitor from Finland to be using the USA server or vice versa.

• New to JEE; architecture suggestions for a service/daemon?

  I am brand new to the JEE world. As an exercise to try and familiarize myself with JEE, I'm trying to create a tiered web-app, but I'm getting a little stuck on what the best way is to spin up a service in the background that does work. Parameters of the service: It must open and hold a socket connection and receive information from the connected server. There is a 1-to-1 correlation between a user and a new socket connection. So the idea is the user presses a button on the web-page, and somewhere on the server a socket connection is opened. For the remainder of the users session (or until the user presses some sort of disconnect button) the socket remains open and pushes received information to some sort of centralized store that servlets can query and return to the user via AJAX. Is there a JEE type way to handle this situation? Naturally what I would think to do is to just write a Java application that listens on a port that the servlets can connect to and spawns new threads that open these sockets, but that seems very ad-hoc to me. (PS: I am also new to Stack Overflow, so forgive me if it takes me some time to figure the site out!)

Now based on a user`s longitude(ex:44.8) and latitude(ex:46.3) I want to search for all the cities near him within 100 miles/KM.   I have a table of cities that all share the same area code: 367 01451 Harvard Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern 368 01452 Hubbardston Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern 369 01453 Leominster Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern The table has multiple area codes, all with multiple cities. What I'd like to do is only select one city from each area code and delete any extra cities from duplicate area codes. What would be the best query to accomplish this? This table holds one-to-many relationships where each ClientID can be enrolled in many programs. So for each program a client is enrolled in, there is a record in the table. The final result set is therefore returning a row for each row in the ProgramEnrollments table based on these joins. I presume my join is the issue but I don't see the problem. Thoughts/Suggestions? I need to write a query to get a count of the people in the arraylist for certain sections i.e. There is a field "City" in my database from the people in the arraylist of names I want to know how many of them live in Chicago, how many live in New York etc. Can someone help me how I might set up an sql statement to handle this. I think somehow I have to pass the subset of names to sql somehow.

  I have the table with zip codes with following columns: id - PRIMARY KEY code - NONCLUSTERED INDEX city When I execute query SELECT TOP 10 * FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by id column. But when I change the query to: SELECT TOP 10 id FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by code column. Again, when I change the query to: SELECT TOP 10 code FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by code column again. And finally when I change to: SELECT TOP 10 id,code FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by id column. My question is in the title of the question. I know which indexes are used in the queries, but my question is, why those indexes are used? I the second query (SELECT TOP 10 id FROM ZIPCodes) wouldn't it be faster if the clusteder index was used? How the query engine chooses which index to use?

When I for example have input fields like: first name, last name, address, post number, city. How should I query the database that I dont always get all the rows. My query is something like this: SELECT user_id, username from users where a like %?% AND b like %?% AND c like %?% AND d like %?% AND e like %?%; When I exchange the AND for OR I always get all the results which makes sense, and when I use AND I get only the exact matches... Is there any function or statement that would help me with this?

I am working on a travel guide app that is targeted for different cities. I want the users of different cities to download the app as per their cities. So I want to submit different apps for different cities(3 in my case). User can also purchase any of these cities through in-app purchase. • Changing direction of rotation Pygame

  How would you change the direction of a rotating image/rect in Pygame? Applying positive and negative degree values works but it seems to only be able to rotate one direction throughout my window. Is there a way to ensure a change in direction of rotation? Perhaps change up rotation of a spinning image every 5 seconds, or if able to change the direction of the spin when hitting a X or Y axis. I've added some code below. It seems like switching movement directions is easy with rect.move_ip as long as I specify a speed and have location clause, it does what I want. Unfortunately rotation is't like that.
