• Convert dependencies to point to View instead of Table

  I currently have a SQL Server 2008 database in which I am planning to separate out some tables to other databases. I want to be able to replace all references to the separated tables from the original database using views. Is there a better way (other than manually changing all FK and SProc references) to switch all the dependencies to reference the view instead of the table?

• How to install Qt on Windows after building?

  I can't find any information on how to install Qt built on Windows. In wiki article How to set up shadow builds on Mac and Linux there's description of -prefix option in configure script but this option is not available on Windows. I know I can use Qt right from the build folder but it does not seem the right thing not to perform an install step. One problem with this approach is size; Qt's build folder takes about 4GB space whereas after installing using binary installer Qt takes about 1GB space. I guess the difference is due to temporary files created during building. I hope some install procedure would install (copy) only needed files leaving temporary files in the build folder.

For eg. if City_ID record for say 10 is not in City table but there is an employee detail record with City_id 10 it should display City_name as null instead of not displaying the record at all. • How to temporarily change all default user settings without destroying the original?

  My app is based strongly on a lot of NSUserDefault keys and values. I want to implement a temporary defaults profile which the user can activate to get a special task done easily. For this, some of the user defaults must be changed temporarily so the app adjusts it's interface appropriately. I started to just manually change those NSUserDefaults settings, but this also destroys the user's original settings. Is it possible to keep a backup of the user's NSUserDefault settings and restore them after the user quits the temporary mode or the app? Like I see it, NSUserDefaults actually is just an NSMutableDictionary which is generated out of a plist file. So I would just make a deep copy of that and later assign that copy somehow back to NSUserDefaults?

• IOC are at the class level, but what about database conflicts?

  With IOC I understand you can substitue implementations out by merely editing a configuration file etc. BUT, what happens when the classes are married to particular database tables and sprocs, you can't just swap out an implementation since the classes/entities are tied to particular tables and stored procedures. What I got after the standard reverse engineering procedure was: the class User contained a collection of categories, the class Category didn't contain the foreign key (user_id) but it did contain the User object.   Greetings, I have a problem as follows: I have an SQL variable declared: DECLARE @myVariable nvarchar(max) a third party library set a value for this variable. To simplify, lets say that the value is as follows: SET @myVariable = 'Select ROWGUID from MySampleTable' Now, I want to execute the following query: SELECT ROWGUID FROM myTable WHERE ROWGUID in (exec sp_executesql @myVariable ) However, the above statement does not work because it returns an error telling me that I can't execute stored procedure in that way. I made a workaround and this is what I wrote: create table #temptable (ID uniqueidentifier null) if(@myVariable is not null AND @myVariable !='') insert into #temptable exec sp_executesql @myVariable SELECT ROWGUID FROM myTable WHERE ROWGUID in (select * from #temptable) DROP TABLE #temptable This works fine.However I don't think it is a good idea to use temporary table. How can I achieve the same result without necessity of creating temporary tables? I am using SQL SERVER 2005

  Hi I have a web projects which is build in VS2003/1.1 framework and deployed in a webserver with IIS setting specified to 1.1 framework.lets say project X I also have another web project which is build with VS2008/2.0. IIS setting - ASP version 2.0 is selected and all pages are assigned to run with 2.0* dlls. Lets say project Y Now the problem seem to be when I hit project x, sometimes it throws errors like "error BC30456: 'Initialize Culture' is not a member of 'ASP.**" During troubleshooting this issue, I browsed through 2.0 Temporary ASP.Net files "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\" and found temp files generated for project X. (HUH?) How/why 1.1 project gets compiled in 2.0 only when it errors out.( or we could put it this way that it errors out every time it gets compiled in 2.0 which it is not supposed to) I'm confused as to why this is happening when project X has nothing to do with .net 2.0.

I have a query cache and a second level cache enabled (READ_ONLY mode) in Hibernate to speed up the service, as the tables being accessed change rarely. My question is, if someone goes into the DB and changes the tables manually (i.e. outside of Hibernate), does the cache recognize automatically that it needs to be cleared? Is there a time limit on the cache?

This is a once-only exercise with a trivial number of rows (100). I have an adequate solution to this problem but I'm curious to know if there is a more elegant way.
