  Hi, Similar to a print to pdf option, where we can choose PDF to be the output format when printing something, I am searching for something which can print to a power point file from a file. Is there any such plugin or tool? Also link to a relilable print to pdf tool would be helpful. This essentially would eliminate the export to power point option that the users are asking for. • Need decent undelete utility for Windows

  So I get the phone call from a friend or relative or client: "Looks like I accidentally deleted 4 years worth of accounting data. Oh, and I don't have any backups. Can you help?" What I need is a good Windows tool (for NTFS I think) that scans blocks marked as deleted and attempts to recover the file. And I need one that can be run from a thumb drive or since installing new software has a decent chance of overwriting the data before it can be recovered. Googling for such tools turns up mostly carefully-crafted advertisements for moderately expensive products with a "Free! Demo! Version!" which is not exactly reassuring. Any recommendations for a good tool?

• Adding multiple Exchange accounts under one profile in Outlook 2010 or 2013

  I work for two companies, each having own Exchange Server. I want to configure my Outlook for both email accounts. I am not able to add both accounts under the same profile in Outlook 2010, nor 2013. I found some how-to articles, each involving Office Configuration Tool. However, my installation does not support this tool. I have Office 2010 Home and Business, and Office 2013 Preview click-to-run. Is there another way? P.S. Having two different profiles, one for each Exchange account, is inconvenient. I cannot run two instances of Outlook at the same time and switching all the time is tedious.

• Java works under Firefox but crashes Internet Explorer

  Java works under Firefox and Chrome but not under IE. Here's what I tried (the advice normally given on forums): Java applet activated in tools - internet options - security tab - personnalise - Java applets Activated in tools - manage add-ons - tool bars and extensions - Java (tm) SSV2 helper - Activate Activated in tools - internet options - advanced tab - Use JRE for applet I've also deleted my temporary internet files (with Ccleaner), Reinstalled IE8 It is also set as the default Java for IE through the control panel - Java - Advanced tab - default Java for browsers - Microsoft Internet Explorer IE version: 8.0.6001.18702 Java version: 1.7.0_03. (also tried with 1.6.0_31) Windows XP SP3. Any advice? Thanks :) edit: I have activated the ActiveX controls through manage add-ons - all add-ons but now, although the coffe cup loading screen appears (which did not before) it makes IE crash (which is new). I might have fiddled too much with the registry by trying to completely remove Java to reinstall it, so I ran "rereg" (a tool to repair dlls and their registry entries) without success.

• Fix NTFS partition

  Okay, so i was about to resize one of my NTFS partitions but suddenly the partition tool showed me an error and it crashed, so i was no longer able to use my partition - even when i tried mounting it under linux it showed me error. I installed active partition recovery, and using it i can see all my files on that partition - it's all there, nothing's been removed. I just need somehow to fix the partition so it can be usable again. Can you tell me how, or using with which tool/software ? Thank you.

• The best software for users internet usage

  Hi, We are a small business using a Vigor 2820 as the internet router, and we'd like to install a software that could report any internet usage from our users. I already tried the "official" software made by Draytek called "SmartMonitor", but is reliability is a real issue as it doesn't seem to keep capturing packets after working 3 to 6hours (randomly), whereas Wireshark keeps capturing packets after that amount of time. As I'm really fed up with this tool, I'm looking for other solutions but I still want the same features: users statistics, websites ranking, users traffic, ... I already enabled the port mirroring feature, so it would be perfect if you could suggest me a port mirroring-based software (ideally freeware). I thought I had found the good one with Etherscout, but it just doesn't launch. I am even open to a tool that would "just" make some reports based on Wireshark captured files (*.pcap). • Anyone interested in obtaining a cable list from a visio Diagram? [closed]

  it's my first post here. Just wondering if anyone had to deal with the following problem - you have to install over say a 100 network elements and servers - cabling is done via contractors, so you need to provide them with an accurate, error-free cable list - your inputs are a set of detailed, port by port, visio diagrams. Prb is to obtain the cable list and get the cabling started while you're busy crafting the switch/routers configs. I coded a Visio plugin, which I plan to release under the GNU license, that returns a cable list from a diagram, and tested it on intermediate size infrastructure, 2K+ cables. It works well. The tool needs a little work to be user friendly, so before getting started, I wanted to know if that was worth the effort. • Amazon EC2, fastest way to get a node into an existing cluster

  I'm new to Amazon AWS. A lot of the time I hear about people folks spawning instances and almost instantly putting them behind a load balancer and into an existing cluster. In the traditional world of managed machines, this would include provisioning hardware, installing an OS, configuring the network on the machine and once the network is available, use a tool of your choice such as CFengine, Puppet or Chef to bootstrap the machine based on its class. It seems like there are "shortcuts" that are able to get a server of a particular class up and running in Amazon EC2. If I have a particular stack running on my server, such as erlang, tomcat6 etc.. what's the fastest way to get these up and running and hooked into Amazon's load balancer? From network, to software stack to kernel tuning? Is it a combination of creating an AMI then running a tool like Puppet against the new instance? Any idea

• How to increase the disk cache of Windows 7

  Under Windows 7 (64 bit), I'm reading through 9000 moderately sized files. In total, there is more than 200 MB of data. Using Java (JDK 1.6.21) I'm iterating over the files. The first 1400 or so go at full speed but then speed drops off to 4ms per file. It turns out that the main cost is incurred simply by opening the files. I'm opening the files using new FileInputStream (and of course closing them in time to avoid file leaks). After some investigating, I see that Windows' disk cache is using only 100 MB or so of RAM although I have 8 GiB available. I've tried increasing the cache size using the CacheSet tool but any values I provide are considered out of range. I've also tried enabling the LargeSystemCache registry key but (after rebooting) the CacheSet tool still indicates I'm using 100 MB of cache (and doesn't increase during the test run). Does anybody have any suggestions to "encourage" Windows 7 to cache my 9000 files?

• Bridging a Windows 7 and Ubuntu dual boot inside an OS

  I have Windows 7 and Ubuntu installed on my local PC. They're both installed on separate partitions on the same machine, and when the computer boots up the user is given the option to choose which one they want to boot use as the OS. This all works fine, but I want to use Windows 7 instead of Ubuntu, I am required to restart the computer and boot up the other OS. Is is possible to use an "inline" tool that will allow to change between both OSs as if they were windows in Windows 7? Which tool would that be? Does anyone know of anything else than Parallels? Also are there any free tools that would do this?. Many Thanks.

The description says it syncs your Outlook email and calendar items with Google Apps, but doesn't using Outlook as an IMAP client against Google Apps do the same?

• What tools can be used to download all images in a webpage?

  I would like to download all images in a web page. The tool should be smart enough to examine the css and javascript files in the page source to look for the images. Ideally, it should also replicate the folder hierarchy, saving the images in the correct folder. For example, the web page may have some images for menu items stored in images/menu/ and for background images it may be stored in images/bg/. Is there such a tool that you know of? • Unable to delete all partitions on flash drive using Windows 7 OS??

  Recently I purchased an ADATA C802 8GB flash drive. Since the drive was new I decided to run some of the HD Tune Pro (v4.50) performance tests on it, mostly just for the heck of it. To avoid accidently destroying data HD Tune refuses to write to a drive unless there are no partitions on the drive. If you do attempt to write to a drive with partitions, it posts the message "Writing is disabled. To enable writing please remove all partitions." As you would expect, the ADATA came formatted with a single primary FAT32 partition in the Master Boot Record. But a number of unexpected things happened when I attempted to delete that partition. The first thing I tried was to use the Windows 7 (64-bit) Disk Management tool (diskmgmt.msc) to delete the partition. It would not let me. The context menu choice to delete that volume was not available. Next I opened up a command prompt window with Admin authority and ran diskpart. Diskpart deleted the volume for me. However, when I attempted to run an HD Tune write test on the drive I still got the "Writing is disabled" message. Huh??? So I fired up a utility I have which allows viewing drives at the sector level and verified that the partition table in the Master Boot Record was empty. No partitions. Yet HD Tune still thought there were partitions on the drive? So why was I still getting the "Writing is disabled" message from HD Tune Pro? And why wouldn't the Windows 7 Disk Management tool let me change the partitions on this drive. After doing the above, I plugged the ADATA into my MacBook. I was then able to format it as either a GPT or MBR partitioned drive with no problems. I am not looking for suggestions on how to format this drive. I can do that. What I do not understand and was hoping I might get insight into is why this drive behaves so strangely under Windows 7? And BTW, what's up with HD Tune Pro? BTW, if I plug the drive I formatted on my MacBook back into my Windows 7 64-bit system I still run into road blocks with the Disk Management tool. For example, I cannot delete all the GPT partitions on the ADATA so I can convert it into an MBR drive. I following Microsoft's instructions, the instructions just do not work with this ADATA flash drive. Anyone know what's up with this? It makes no sense to me. Has something changed in Windows 7 (Vista)??

I'm trying to create a bunch of Virtual Machines from the commandline, using the prlctl tool, like so: $ prlctl create test1 -o linux -d centos $ prlctl set test1 --device-del cdrom0 $ prlctl start test1 Now, each time I start a new VM, the VM spends time waiting for a PXE boot. I'd like to turn this off. Can I disable PXE requests using Parallels or a Parallels commandline tool? Or, can I set the boot order of a VM from the commandline?

California) Region. From AWS doc, I understood that for moving AMI, there is a command-line tool available - ec2-migrate-bundle.   I have an OCZ Vertex LE 100GB drive. It's actually 128GiB of NAND flash, with a whopping 28%+ reserved for write combining. Most 128GiB drives are actually ~ 115GB usable (and marketed as 120GB or 128GB). There were rumors that the reserved fraction could be decreased on OCZ 100GB drives. Can anyone provide a link to firmware that does that, or an official statement that no such firmware exists? (NB: I recently installed the 1.24 firmware from the OCZ site, it didn't affect the capacity. Possibly because the rumors say the capacity change is destructive to existing content.) Of possible interest: flashing firmware was more of a pain than it should have been -- the tool didn't detect the disk until I booted an older Windows install off a secondary hard disk, I suspect the Intel SATA driver is the issue and tool only works with the msachi.sys driver.

  What is a good tool to keep track of IT inventory? Systems that are installed and running, parts being ordered, that sort of thing. I'd love a central, web based system (preferably something we can customize) but my searching so far has resulted in a lot of dead open source projects that havn't been updated in a few years and poorly created commercial websites that don't do a very good job describing their product. The software doesn't have to be free or open source - a good commercial alternative is fine. It doesn't even need to be a web-based tool, that's just what I thought would be simplist to find and easiest to deploy. The number of assets that it will be tracking will be in the dozens, so it doesn't have to be a super high-end enterprise solution but it does need to do a better job than an excel sheet in a shared folder (which is our current "solution")

• What prevents Windows from entering standby?

  Is there a tool or method to find out, what prevents Windows Vista 32 bit from entering the standby mode? My home pc is set to standby after a certain time of inactivity. But quite often it just stays awake and I have know idea why. I know of things that will keep it awake and already checked devices and network to no avail. I suspect there is some application or service that tells the os to stay active and I hope there is some tool to find the culprit.
