  • Is Google’s CDN for jQuery available in China?

    - by deanpeters
Does anyone know if Google's CDN for jQuery is available in China? http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlibs/ I might have a project where I'll need to support localization a variety of countries, including mainland China, and want to know if I'll need to find alternatives such as: http://www.asp.net/ajax/CDN/ Which is okay, but my understanding is that the Microsoft CDN doesn't support jQuery UI. I've checked over at the following Google report page, but can't really figure out if 'sites' includes their CDN delivery: http://www.google.com/prc/report.html

  • How to embed a google map with a changeable area?

    - by Tom
I haven't worded this very well But basically, I'd like to embed a map on my site - but the area it shows will change. I've tried doing this, but it never seems to work as it will focus on the wrong area - the old area, rather than the new area. Basically, I'd like a google map code that uses $place as a location. Thanks.

  • Google's Search Box in SharePoint

    - by Evan M.
Has anyone here looked at the Google Search Box for SharePoint? We're looking into it as part of our MOSS deployment since we also use Google's GSA, and I'm personally not impressed with it, while a colleague seems to think that it's the only option we should be using, or even considering. While I've got no problems with the GSA indexing our SharePoint content, the Search Box just seems clumsy. It looks horrible, the results being returned are much more limited than what I get if I use the GSA search page itself, configuring it has been nothing but a PITA and it's still only got a basic config ans isn't respecting things like user permissions or search scopes that the default SharePoint Indexer and search controls handle out of the box. What are your guys thoughts? Am I being overly critical, and should just spend more time trying to configure it? Are you using a split-personality with it yourself, where you have the GSA for enterprise wide search, but use SharePoint for local searches? Other thoughts?

  • Server 2003 on domain wont let domain user have local profile

    - by RobW
I have a few servers that are acting in this behavior, you log in and always get put into a temporary profile. The server is licensed for TS. The user I am testing with has local admin rights so it doesn't seem to be a permission issue on the server. I'll first get a message that the users roaming profile cannot be found, even though we dont use roaming profiles. I then get another message immediately after saying a local profile could not be loaded, so it will only use a temp profile. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Postfix on IspCP cannot send to google apps mail if it is in the same domain

    - by Evan Sap
In my vps setup I have ispcp omega 1.0.7 installed. Everything works fine except the fact that postfix cannot send to google apps mail when the domain of google apps is also registered in ispcp. Postfix sends an email to normal addresses (hotmail, yahoo, gmail etc). I use external dns. There is also a discussion I started in the ispcp forum here .mail.log file provides these messages: mail for exampledomain.gr loops back to myself". postfix/bounce: sender non-delivery notification. postfix/qmgr: removed Any help would be appreciated.

  • vqadmin "invalid language file" with google chrome

    - by MrStatic
We have been running our qmail setup for awhile with no issues. One of our admins has moved to Google Chrome as his main browser and we have noticed something odd. No matter what, when he loads the vqadmin page it errors on him with simply invalid language file. Yet if he loads Firefox, Opera, Safari or shudders IE8 it works fine. Searching google only results in 'Use IE' or 'Set english as your language in the browser'. A: I try to have people avoid IE if possible and B: There is no english option in Chrome.

  • Adding GLUE records for Google Apps MX records

    - by Saif Bechan
Is there a way of adding GLUE for the Google Apps MX records. I have added them all and it works fine, but in all the DNS tools I see that there is no glue sent. I know that this is not a really big problem, because the gain you get out of it is next to zero. Nevertheless I just wanted to know if it is possible and how you do it. Or if it is not possible, what is the reason for it. I have asked this question also on the Google Help Forum but with no responses so far, so I thought i'd give it a shot here.

  • DKIM for email through Google Apps domain with external outbound relay

    - by David Gardiner
I'd like to enable the new Domain Keys DKIM email authentication feature for a domain hosted in Google Apps. Some of my users use an external SMTP gateway (such that when they send email, it doesn't go through smtp.gmail.com). I have an SPF record configured for the domain, and this allows the external SMTP gateways as valid SMTP hosts. (I realise SPF is different to DKIM) Will enabling DKIM adversely affect the external gateway email? eg. Are the externally sent emails at risk of being marked as spam because they would not have the DKIM signature, or will DKIM only positively benefit emails sent through Google's SMTP server?

  • Google products are excessively slow

    - by Sixfoot Studio
Hi, We're running Windows 2000 for our office server. For years now we have had the problem where everthing Google takes an excessively long time to do anything. Gmail hangs, Analytics takes forever, Google docs times out. I have been back and forth with our ISP on this matter and they are convinced it has something to do with our server. This does not happen when I am at home so the problem either lays with our server or with the ISP. Here is a screencast to show you what I mean. http://www.screencast.com/users/jamesvanderhoven/folders/Jing/media/f7ffce9a-0250-4112-b79d-7dc58c2c8b0a Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem and is there a way to resolve this please? Many thanks!

  • Using Google's App Engine as CDN for static files

    - by Saif Bechan
I am planning on moving my static files to Google's App Engine. I was wondering if this is a good idea to do. I have read that is it possible that Google will cache your files on multiple locations, which is a good thing in my opinion. The setup should also be quite easy in eclipse with the GAE plugins. But i still have my doubts on the performance of this. Is the setup of App Engine optimized for serving static content. Now I have Nginx server my static content, will App Engine perform the same way. Are there any other ups or downs using this method?

  • Start Chrome by command line, but adding some arguments to make it login into your Google account automatically

    - by jim
Is there a way to start Chrome calling it from the command line (using Linux), but providing it some argument to make it login into some Google account automatically? I'm looking for something like google-chrome -account foo -pass bar that I can easily put in a bash script later. A little background: I have a laptop connected to my TV, which is currently using just a mouse for user interaction. There's no google account logged in by default, and that's the way I want to keep it, so my kids can't come across videos and pictures in google and youtube that they are not supposed to see (e.g.: adult content, or anything marked as not appropriate for kids by the google's safe search filters). The bad thing about this is that there are some music videos in youtube that requires you to be logged in to see, usually those we (the adults) used to sing when playing karaoke... as the only input available is a mouse, I'm looking for a way to start with my google account without having to type the whole thing usin the on-screen keyboard. You may think "Why you can't use the keyboard, if the laptop is right there?". Well, it's in a kind of uncomfortable position - too high for me without a chair or something, as it's right above the furniture in where the TV is located. Is there a way to make this scriptable? If not, do you know any other workaround? Note: using the remember me after logging off or alike options are discarded, as the safe-search chrome version must be always the default version to run.

  • Creating user accounts in Amazon EC2

    - by Tvanover
I am putting together a test environment using Amazon's EC2 for me and some friends to collaborate on a project. I am not a server guy but I do know my way around a bash prompt and have done some work on ubuntu before. I am using Amazon Linux AMI i386 EBS and have gotten apache and php running. Now I need to create the user accounts my friends and I will use to upload files (sftp) and work on the project (ssh). How should I go about this? Should I just use adduser and configure it like normal? Or should I use the AWS IAM groups?

  • How does Safari's Reader work and when does it show up?

    - by TestSubject528491
Safari's Reader feature is a cool little app that displays a web page as a newspaper article --- without all the distracting sidebars, comments, and ads. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and I'm wondering how "it knows when to show up." On my personal website, one of the pages has this option. You can click the Reader button in the URL bar and it is displayed beautifully like a page in an iBook. However, none of my other web pages (on the same site) do this. I thought it had something to do with the <article> tag, but I removed that and it still works. Anyone know how this app works? Also, does anyone know of any Chrome extensions that are just like this? Google Reader is not the same thing. PS: From the cited Apple website: Safari Reader As you browse the web, Safari detects if you are on a web page with an article. Click the Reader button that appears in the Smart Address Field and an elegant view of the article appears — without any distracting content. Not much help, is it?

  • infoWindow position and click/unclick controls - controlling KML groundoverlays

    - by wendysmith
I've made a lot of progress on this project (with earlier help with forum member Eric Badger, thanks!!) but I now need help with fine-tuning the infoWindow. Presently, you checkbox one of the historic maps choices -- the map appears as a ground overlay, and if you click it, you get info about the map which appears in a div (yellow area at the bottom). I want the info to appear in a more traditional window on the map, just to the center-right of the overlay map. It should have a close-option (X at the top corner?) Also, if you uncheck one of the boxes -- the overlay map disappears but the info window should close as well.  As you see my javascript skills are very limited. I would very much appreciate your help with this. Here's the test webpage: Here's the script: function showphilpottsmap(philpottsmapcheck) { if (philpottsmapcheck.checked == true) { philpottsmap.setMap(map); } else { philpottsmap.setMap(null); } } function showbrownemap(brownemapcheck) { if (brownemapcheck.checked == true) { brownemap.setMap(map); } else { brownemap.setMap(null); } } function showchewettmap(chewettmapcheck) { if (chewettmapcheck.checked == true) { chewettmap.setMap(map); } else { chewettmap.setMap(null); } } function showjamescanemap(jamescanemapcheck) { if (jamescanemapcheck.checked == true) { jamescanemap.setMap(map); } else { jamescanemap.setMap(null); } } var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow(); function openIW(FTevent) { infoWindow.setContent(FTevent.infoWindowHtml); infoWindow.setPosition(FTevent.latLng); infoWindow.setOptions({ content: FTevent.infoWindowHtml, position: FTevent.latLng, pixelOffset: FTevent.pixelOffset }); infoWindow.open(map); } var philpottsmap; var brownemap; var chewettmap; var jamescanemap; function initialize() { var mylatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(43.65241745, -79.393923); var myOptions = { zoom: 11, center: mylatlng, streetViewControl: false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP, }; map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions); //End map parameters brownemap = new google.maps.KmlLayer('http://wendysmithtoronto.com/mapping/1851map_jdbrowne.kml', {preserveViewport:true, suppressInfoWindows:true}); google.maps.event.addListener(brownemap, 'click', function(kmlEvent) { document.getElementById('sidebarinfo').innerHTML = kmlEvent.featureData.description; }); chewettmap = new google.maps.KmlLayer('http://wendysmithtoronto.com/mapping/1802mapwilliamchewett.kml', {preserveViewport:true, suppressInfoWindows:true}); google.maps.event.addListener(chewettmap, 'click', function(kmlEvent) { document.getElementById('sidebarinfo').innerHTML = kmlEvent.featureData.description; }); philpottsmap = new google.maps.KmlLayer('http://wendysmithtoronto.com/mapping/1818map_phillpotts.kml', {preserveViewport:true, suppressInfoWindows:true}); google.maps.event.addListener(philpottsmap, 'click', function(kmlEvent) { document.getElementById('sidebarinfo').innerHTML = kmlEvent.featureData.description; }); jamescanemap = new google.maps.KmlLayer('http://wendysmithtoronto.com/mapping/1842jamescanemapd.kml', {preserveViewport:true, suppressInfoWindows:true}); google.maps.event.addListener(jamescanemap, 'click', function(kmlEvent) { document.getElementById('sidebarinfo').innerHTML = kmlEvent.featureData.description; }); } Thanks very much! Using functions or session in o.php we can pass user input but am in the situation tat i should not add or modify o.php. thanks in advance!!

  • Does Google use any “Language” flags / tags set within a PDF file when determining its language?

    - by Ally Ak
When determining the language of a HTML page, I understand that Google looks at any language declarations that the page owner has set, and then also applies its own language detection algorithms. But does Google similarly look at language meta data set in PDF files when determining a PDF file's language? (Authors of PDF files can set document-wide properties describing the language (or languages) contained within it.) Or does Google rely exclusively on language detection algorithms and disregard the language flag set within the PDF file? Can anyone shed any light?

  • Why does my domain not show up in Google anymore?

    - by Earlz
So I have had a website since about 2006. It's http://earlz.biz.tm . Recently I've noticed that no results will show up for it in google. I do have a secondary domain(that I plan on getting rid of) pointing to it but I don't understand why google would suddenly not show my site. I believe it was showing up a few months ago and my website is hardly ever down, like one or two days I believe has been the most it's been down in a row in this time period. Is there something wrong with my DNS or other configuration that would make google not index me? For reference I've tried: earlz.biz.tm site:earlz.biz.tm and the heading from my site "Earlz.biz.tm -- The reasoning is bacon" A few show up with the therusticstone.com domain(the one I plan to point somewhere else) but none show up directly linking to earlz.biz.tm.
