  • Is Subversion(SVN) supported on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 32bit?

    - by Chad
I've setup subversion on Ubuntu 10.04, but can't get authentication to work. I believe all my config files are setup correctly, However I keep getting prompted for credentials on a SVN CHECKOUT. Like there is an issue with apache2 talking to svnserve. If I allow anonymous access checkout works fine. Does anybody know if there is a known issue with subversion and 10.04 or see a error in my configuration? below is my configuration: # fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 32bit sudo apt-get install apache2 apache2-utils -y sudo apt-get install subversion libapache2-svn subversion-tools -y sudo mkdir /svn sudo svnadmin create /svn/DataTeam sudo svnadmin create /svn/ReportingTeam #Setup the svn config file sudo vi /etc/apache2/mods-available/dav_svn.conf #replace file with the following. <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNParentPath /svn/ AuthType Basic AuthName "Subversion Server" AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/dav_svn.passwd Require valid-user AuthzSVNAccessFile /etc/apache2/svn_acl </Location> sudo touch /etc/apache2/svn_acl #replace file with the following. [groups] dba_group = tom, jerry report_group = tom [DataTeam:/] @dba_group = rw [ReportingTeam:/] @report_group = rw #Start/Stop subversion automatically sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart cd /etc/init.d/ sudo touch subversion sudo cat 'svnserve -d -r /svn' > svnserve sudo cat '/etc/init.d/apache2 restart' >> svnserve sudo chmod +x svnserve sudo update-rc.d svnserve defaults #Add svn users sudo htpasswd -cpb /etc/apache2/dav_svn.passwd tom tom sudo htpasswd -pb /etc/apache2/dav_svn.passwd jerry jerry #Test by performing a checkout sudo svnserve -d -r /svn sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart svn checkout http://127.0.0.1/svn/DataTeam /tmp/DataTeam

  • Ubuntu: Unsupported Sources

    - by Scott
What kind of software is available in that source tree ? Also what is the best way to see what kind of software is available in a repository ? I have always reluctant to enable it because I didn't want to wind up with an unstable system.

  • Slow old notebook Hardy => Karmic

    - by Mailo
Hi, i have one very slow notebook from year about 2000. On the computer is running icewm with firefox (in this times chromium for testing). My question is if it's good step to upgrade the system to Karmic Koala? I can't install another OS on that. It doesn't have CD-ROM, it can't boot from flash, or network. The new wanted state is little bit faster system for browsing web and copying photos to local NAS. I don't mention hardware configuration, becouse it's real speed is really deep below the paper parameters.

  • Best way to Duplicate a Laptop's Hard Drive One-to-One

    - by Urda
I have a Lenovo X61 Tablet computer, with a plain SATA drive inside. I have windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10 dual booting on the computer. I want to back up both of these OS's, and their special partitions (Windows 7 has one, and of course the Linux Swap). I want a one-to-one backup, all of my mission critical data is already backed up, but I would like to get a snapshot, and store it on a larger file server at home for quick recovery. What is the best approach to do this?

  • Ubuntu 9.10: how do I troubleshoot a startup script that doesn't appear to run?

    - by TheDeeno
I've created a bash script 'foo'. I've made that script executable with chmod+x and added it the the start-up by running sudo update-rc.d foo defaults 80 Despite that, it doesn't appear to be working at startup. Is there a way to have my script echo messages to a log? Or is there some log that would record events/errors for this? atm, I feel like I'm flying blind and don't really know how to troubleshoot this.

  • What is this dm-0 device?

    - by Jeff Shattock
While poking around trying to figure out why a Linux - Linux file transfer is running slower than I think it should, I stumbled across something I'm not familiar with. /dev/dm-0 seems to be my bottleneck, but I have no idea what it is. On my destination server, the iostat command shows a device at the bottom, /dev/dm-0, as being 100% utilized. This server has 6 disks in a mdadm raid5 set, with LVM running on top of it. Each of the underlying disks are sitting around 50% util. The transfer is writing to a logical volume located on this raidset. What is this /dev/dm-0 thing? Once I know what it is, maybe I can find how to increase its speed, or at least understand why its the speed that it is.

  • [metasploit] Has anyone gotten multi/browser/java_signed_applet to work?

    - by marc
Welcome, Today i want test following exploit "exploit/multi/browser/java_signed_applet" on my Ubuntu 10.04 desktop using Metasploit framework. I'm following that guide: http://pauldotcom.com/wiki/index.php/Episode185 When im trying to start exploit, i got error: JVM not initialized. You must install the Java Development Kit, the rjb ruby gem, and set the $JAVA_HOME variable. [-] Falling back to static signed applet. This exploit will still work, but the CERTCN and APPLETNAME variables will be ignored. I have installed sun-java6-jdk, and gem install rjb And patch to JAVA look working because: ls $JAVA_HOME bin ext jre LICENSE README.html COPYRIGHT include lib man THIRDPARTYLICENSEREADME.txt If anyone, have any idea... Except installation of backtrack what is not possible... Because i need use it on my Ubuntu, (have to virtualize XP for test) regards

  • confusion in attaching detaching screen on Ubuntu

    - by Registered User
Hi, screen -list shows There are screens on: 9531.pts-0.ubuntu (03/02/2011 12:43:34 PM) (Detached) 2101.pts-0.ubuntu (03/02/2011 12:39:17 PM) (Attached) 2219.pts-0.ubuntu (03/02/2011 11:20:56 AM) (Attached) 3 Sockets in /var/run/screen/S-bond. but when I type screen -r 2101.pts-0.ubuntu There is a screen on: 2101.pts-0.ubuntu (03/02/2011 12:39:16 PM) (Attached) There is no screen to be resumed matching 2101.pts-0.ubuntu. Here I can not get back the the screen 2101.pts-0.ubuntu and infact I get exited. Where as if I do screen -r 9531.pts-0.ubuntu [detached from 9531.pts-0.ubuntu] then above you can see I went inside that session and came out and I can do it again and again. But with other sessions same is not the case? SO what mistake am I doing?

  • How Do I Install a Webmin Module?

    - by ServerChecker
I found that my Webmin doesn't come with the vsftpd module to configure vsftpd. I found on their site that that they have a download tarball. I downloaded it, but don't know what the proper steps are to add this tarball into the webmin config. I'm running Ubuntu Server 9.10 with Webmin 1.510, if that matters.

  • Ubuntu Nvidia Xorg Twinview doesnt like my monitors

    - by Andrew Bolster
Basically, using the latest available ubuntu drivers (195.36.15) I cannot for the life of me get my two monitors to operate at suitable resolutions. When not using the drivers atall and going single-screen, both monitors support 1680x1050, but this option is only shown for one monitor in nvidia-settings, and when i manually add a metamode into the xorg.conf, it just gives up initialising the second screen. • How to stop blanking screen although I am active on Ubuntu Karmic on old IBM Laptop

    - by Glen S. Dalton
How to stop blanking screen although I am active on Ubuntu Karmic on old IBM Laptop 600E? After some time of working on the machine the screen goes blank. When I hit ESC on the built-in keyboard (not on the attached USB keyboard where I work) it comes back and everything works fine until the next screen-blanking. I suspect it is some power management issue. When I use an old keyboard that has a ps2 connector it does not happen. So my guess is that the usb keyboard does not update the power management timer that detects when the session was last used? I am using fluxbox window manager. I do not want to disable power management because it is nice that the fan only works at the necessary speed (the fan spped is regulated which I can hear) But I could disable power management for testing purposes.

  • How to create a Linux Media Server using Ubuntu?

    - by Thomas
Hello all: I'm an intermediate Linux user and a relative beginner to servers. I would like some help finding resources on setting up a basic server. I have Googled, and am a member of the Ubuntu Forums, but just figure it can't hurt to ask the Stack Overflow community for help as well. I plan on installing on an old laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad R61i or Toshiba Satellite A105). I have downloaded the latest Ubuntu (9.10) but don't know how to do any of the configurations. I just want a server to store my files where I can access (download and/ or stream) from a browser. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Thomas

  • Ubuntu on Pandaboard giving me troubles

    - by Jeroen Jacobs
I'm trying to install the OMAP4 extras for ubuntu on my pandaboard. For some reason, a few packages can't seem to be agree with eachother. This what I did so far: installed on Ubuntu 11.10 on sd card Powered on Pandaboard and let it finish it's initial install Did an "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade", to install updates So far, everything went fine, and I was quite happy with my Pandaboard, but then I made the mistake of typing this: apt-get install ubuntu-imap4-extras At first, everything seemed ok, and it started downloading and installing. But then after a while it just crashed. I tried it again but then it gave me this: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done ubuntu-omap4-extras is already the newest version. You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these: The following packages have unmet dependencies: gstreamer0.10-openmax : Depends: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad but it is not going to be installed gstreamer0.10-plugin-ducati : Depends: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad but it is not going to be installed ubuntu-omap4-extras-multimedia : Depends: gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad (>= 0.10.22-2ubuntu4+ti1.5) but it is not going to be installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution). So I tried to the suggestion: apt-get -f install: Reading package lists...
