  • Uniquely identify two instances of one browser that share Session state?

    - by jdk
I want to make sure that a user isn't editing the same form data in two different browser tabs or windows (of the same web browser instance). It's to stop the user from stupidly overwriting their own data as they continue through a very long form process. On the server ongoing data input through the screens is collected into the Session. Assume for any browser, all tabs and windows run in the same instance of it (i.e. not each in a separate process). Obviously the browser tabs and windows share the same cookies in this scenario so cookie modification seems out of the question for viable solutions. This is also the reason they shared the same session. Considering that the form is already created and this is one of the final touches, how can I use ASP.NET, hopefully easily, to oversee this "feature"?

  • Why browser doesnt recognize jquery when <script src="...jquery.js> is on a html page served by Goo

    - by indiehacker
jquery.js source code is not being recognised by browser using my page.html served by Google App Engine as a http:some_request to the SDK, BUT when I load the exact same page.html into the browser directly from my local hard drive as jquery.js all works OK, it is recognized, so I know my path is OK.... I don't understand? In the header of my page.html I have the following: <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> I also tried without success in the header this: <script src="/static/jquery.js" type="text/javascript"></script> I am working along with the examples in the [Jquery tutorial][1]. I am sure there is something simple I dont understand about how .html pages served to the browser from app engine interact differently with the browser than what I normally would expect....but I frustratingly just cant get it.....everything else I have with my app engine app is working fine......would love some help so i can move forward....

  • Is there server-side code which is not cross browser compatible?

    - by Ygam
Was there a case in any server-side language where a code did not work in a browser while it did work in the rest? I am asking this because I can't imagine such a scenario because server-side code runs in the server, not in the browser but I have seen discussions where, as said, there were "server-side browser compatibility issues". I can't seem to recall where I have read it. Thanks in advance :)

  • What is the preferred way of loading browser-specific CSS files?

    - by Yuval A
What is the best way to handle browser-specific CSS file loading? Assume you are running in the context of a proper MVC framework. Here are some options, you are free to discuss the pros and cons of these options as well as any other methods you know of, and prefer: Server-side solution: use the controller (e.g. servlet) to analyze the user-agent header in the request and return the proper CSS file in the view. Use browser specific hacks to load files, such as: <!--[if IE]> ... <![endif]--> Load CSS files asynchronously in client side by inspecting user-agent and adding respective files Use a client side framework to handle browser-specifics (such as jQuery browser-specific css rules)

  • How to implement a log window in a web browser?

    - by Jeremy Friesner
Hi all, I'm interested in adding an HTML/web-browser based "log window" to my net-enabled device. Specifically, my device has a customized web server and an event log, and I'd like to be able to leave a web browser window open to e.g. http://my.devices.ip.address/system_log and have events show up as text in the web browser window as they happen. People could then use this as a quick way to monitor what the system is doing, without needing run any special software. My question is, what is the best way to implement this? I've tried the obvious approach -- just have my device's embedded web server hold the HTTP/TCP connection open indefinitely, and write the necessary text to the TCP socket when an event occurs -- but the problem with that is that most web browsers (e.g. Safari) don't display the web page until the server has closed the TCP connection has been closed, and so the result is that the log data never appears in the web browser, it just acts as if the page is taking forever to load. Is there some trick to make this work? I could implement it as a Java applet, but I'd much prefer something more lightweight/simple, either using only HTML or possibly HTML+JavaScript. Also I'd like to avoid having the web browser 'poll' the server, since that would either introduce too much latency (if the reload delay was large) or put load on the system (if the delay was small)

  • how to close a child browser in c# or WatiN?

    - by user177060
I want to close the child window which is of "Browser" type. Have a look at the below code. WatiN.Core.Browser openBrowser = BrowserType.getBrowserObject().attachChildBrowser(document_name + Constants.open_document_title); I want to close the "openBrowser". Close()(available in WatiN) can only be used for the type "IE" of "Firefox" only. So, I cant use Close() method also. Is there any method to close the browser in C# or WatiN?

  • Marionette js itemview not defined: then on browser refresh it is defined and all works well - race condition?

    - by Robert
Yeah it's just the initial browser load or two after a cache clear. Subsequent refreshes clear the problem up. I'm thinking the item views just aren't fully constructed in time to be used in the collection views on the first load. But then they are on a refresh? Don't know. There must be something about the code sequence or loading or the load time itself. Not sure. I'm loading via require.js. Have two collections - users and messages. Each renders in its own list view. Each works, just not the first time or two the browser loads. The first time you load after clearing browser cache the console reports, for instance: "Uncaught ReferenceError: MessageItemView is not defined" A simple browser refresh clears it up. Same goes for the user collection. It's collection view says it doesn't know anything about its item view. But a simple browser refresh and all is well. My views (item and collection) are in separate files. Is that the problem? For instance, here is my message collection view in its own file: messagelistview.js var MessageListView = Marionette.CollectionView.extend({ itemView: MessageItemView, el: $("#messages") }); And the message item view is in a separate file: messageview.js var MessageItemView = Marionette.ItemView.extend({ tagName: "div", template: Handlebars.compile( '<div>{{fromUserName}}:</div>' + '<div>{{message}}</div>' + ) }); Then in my main module file, which references each of those files, the collection view is constructed and displayed: main.js //Define a model MessageModel = Backbone.Model.extend(); //Make an instance of MessageItemView - code in separate file, messagelistview.js MessageView = new MessageItemView(); //Define a message collection var MessageCollection = Backbone.Collection.extend({ model: MessageModel }); //Make an instance of MessageCollection var collMessages = new MessageCollection(); //Make an instance of a MessageListView - code in separate file, messagelistview.js var messageListView = new MessageListView({ collection: collMessages }); App.messageListRegion.show(messageListView); Do I just have things sequenced wrong? I'm thinking it's some kind of race condition only because over 3G to an iPad the item views are always undefined. They never seem to get constructed in time. PC on a hard wired connection does see success after a browser refresh or two.

  • Again: Android Stock browser vs. WebView?

    - by user2281606
maybe a very easy question, but this drives me crazy... I work in company where we develope apps based on webviews. Everytime something went wrong, my boss tells me: "Hey look, the page runs nicely in the android browser, so it has to run that way in the app. Make it happen." I know that every manufacturer has his own implementation, discussed here: Android WebView VS Phone Browser But i want to keep my question simple: Is the android stock browser a pimped webview or in other words, extends the android browser from webview-class ? Thanks for any response?

  • Can the Browser 'Forward' Button be Set from HTML?

    - by John C
Example: At the bottom of the StackOver Questions page are a bunch of page numbers (1,2,3...), enclosed in a set of prev and next buttons. Clicking next repeatedly will bring me to, say page 5, at which point I will have: The page's prev button will be set to 'http://stackoverflow.com/questions?page=4' The Back button on my Browser will have the same value. The page's next button will be set to 'http://stackoverflow.com/questions?page=6' The Forward button on my Browser - won't be set to anything. Obviously, if I hit the Back button on the Browser, then Forward will have a value, pointing to the URL for page 5 - but not otherwise. Is there any way, from HTML (plus Javascript), to set the value of the Browser's Forward button? Or is this one of those things that HTML is simply forbidden to do?

  • How to check whether a default browser is opened in the operating system (Java)?

    - by stempel1984
Hi, I am newbie here. During my work, I faced an interesting problem. I need to: check whether a default html browser is opened; check whether the browser is minimized/maximized (simply, a window's state); get an url address typed in the browser. If any of these conditions is not met, I have to open the browser in a maximized view with a desired url address. I primarily wanted to do all this in Java, but it came to my mind that I should employ many techniques/technologies and combine them appropriately to complete the functionality. But, which ones? That's the problem. I just recalled Windows API, but I'm not sure if it is of any help... Some users on another forum suggested that I should consider JNI (no experience at all)... I only know how to open a default browser (e.g. with use of the 'browse(URI uri)' method of the 'java.awt.Desktop' class) - that's too little to be proud of. Please give me some hints, maybe links to reasonable discussions, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions how to approach the problem.

  • Changing overflow from div dynamically [closed]

    - by user552669
Hello comunnity! I am filling a div using JQuery. This div has the CSS property 'overflow' set to 'auto' (to display scrollbars because the div has a lot of HTML inside). But the DIV doesn't display the scrollbars. I think that the problem is that I'm setting the CSS property using CSS and the DIV is filling dynamically. How can I do to display scrollbars if the HTML inside the DIV doesn't fit, but dynamically? I'm trying to set the property manually after fill the div, but didn't work: function createWB(tag){ // Fill the div // ... // Set the scrollbars $('.tab_content').css('overflow','auto'); } If a set the property to 'scroll', the scrollbars appear, but disabled. Thanks in advance! :)

  • Make content 100% height with scrollbar

    - by Ben Sinclair
I am using CKEditor (http://ckeditor.com) and I've created my own custom file browser... Problem is, when you open the filebrowser, it opens it in a new popup window and has no scrollbars. I submitted a support ticket 2 weeks ago to find out how to add the scrollbars and no answer. I can't find what to edit in the code either... So what I plan to do is make it scroll using CSS... I found this post about making the body 100% (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/886809/css-quirks-html-4-01-strict-100-body-height-and-scrollbars) but it doesn't add scrollbars. Any ideas how I can force scrollbars using CSS?

  • How Do I Export Pages from Browser with Embedded Hyperlinks?

    - by Volomike
Made a sad discovery today. I have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. My client is in the ad business and she had a marketing competition task for me. She wanted me to visit websites of the competitors, and export the home pages as PDF. However, she wanted me to do so with embedded hyperlinks. As it turns out, Firefox (and even the latest Chrome) on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS do not embed hyperlinks in PDF web page exports. Sure, there are several Chrome and FF plugins that let you export as PDF, but what these do is connect to the URL remotely, generate the PDF remotely, and then force a download in your browser to download it from a remote location. That's not good for me, though, because some of these competitor pages require an initial login. That means that all I get back on the PDF printing from these FF or Chrome plugins is a login page. Is there a way to get around this problem, to fix the broken PDF printer on Ubuntu 10.04?

  • How to change web browser's tab bar background color or image?

    - by Hanynowsky
    Running Precise. I am tweaking the ambiance theme to my taste. Yet I can't locate where I can modify the background color of the browser's tab bar (I suspect its value instruction to be somewhere in the gtk-widget or gtk-3 style files). See image: Thanks in advance. -------------------EDIT----------------------- Solution: Edited the following files: /usr/share/themes/MyTheme/gtk-2.0/apps/chromium.rc ( style "chrome-gtk-frame"{ ...}) gtk.css gtkrc (gtk-2.0 folder / first line of style dark - background - ) : style "dark" { color["bg_color_dark"] = "#303030" #original was 3c3b37 color["fg_color_dark"] = "#dfdbd2" color["selected_fg_color_dark"] = "#ffffff" fg[NORMAL] = @fg_color_dark fg[PRELIGHT] = shade (1.15, @fg_color_dark) fg[ACTIVE] = @fg_color_dark fg[SELECTED] = @selected_fg_color_dark fg[INSENSITIVE] = shade (0.5, @fg_color_dark) bg[NORMAL] = @bg_color_dark bg[ACTIVE] = shade (0.8, @bg_color_dark) bg[SELECTED] = @selected_bg_color bg[PRELIGHT] = shade (1.0, "#4D4C48") bg[INSENSITIVE] = shade (0.85, @bg_color_dark) text[NORMAL] = @fg_color_dark text[PRELIGHT] = shade (1.15, @fg_color_dark) text[SELECTED] = @selected_fg_color_dark text[ACTIVE] = @fg_color_dark text[INSENSITIVE] = mix (0.5, @bg_color, @bg_color_dark) } RESULT:

  • How To Get Browser To Open From Same Folder?

    - by Bad Learner
I don't know how to make the title any more clear. Let me give an example - When I want to add an image to an article on my blog, I click "Browse" button in the image uploader, and then upload the image to the blog. The problem is, when I want to upload another image to my blog, I want the browser to look into the same directory; but it's always takes me to the "Recently Used" directory. Is there a way to change this? I hope I have made myself clear enough. EDIT: I only use Chrome, so I am referring to it.

  • How can I make a browser trust my SSL certificate when I request resources from an external server?

    - by William David Edwards
I have installed an SSL certificate on one of my domains and it works perfectly, but on some pages I include a Google Font, which causes my certificate icon to change in: instead of: The reason, according to Google Chrome (translated with Google Translate): Your connection to xxxxxx is encrypted with 128-bit encryption. This page includes other resources which are not secure. These resources can be viewed by others while in transit and can be modified to fit. So how can I make the browser 'trust' my SSL certificate, even though I request an external resource from Google Fonts? And also, does it matter that I use links like these: <link rel='stylesheet' id='et-shortcodes-css-css' href='https://xxxxxx/wp-content/themes/Divi/epanel/shortcodes/css/shortcodes.css?ver=3.0' type='text/css' media='all' /> instead of <link rel='stylesheet' id='et-shortcodes-css-css' href='wp-content/themes/Divi/epanel/shortcodes/css/shortcodes.css?ver=3.0' type='text/css' media='all' /> Thanks!
