  • How to write (simple) macro?

    I need to write a macro (with-hooks (monster method who what) &body body) for a game I'm writing. Monster is a CLOS object, method and who are strings and what is a function (#' notation). The macroexpansion would be something to the effect of (add-hook monster method who what) ,@body (remove-hook monster method who) I have absolutely no idea how to write such a macro, and I would appreciate some help.

    A generic method is defined as follows: private static T GetComparisonObject<T>(ComparisonAttribute attribute, object objectToParse) { // Perform a some action return (T)resultObject; } The method is invoked as follows: var srcObjectToCompare = GetComparisonObject<DynamicType>(attributeToCompare, srcObject); The type for which the method needs to be invoked is configured in the config file as: <add attributename ="Count" attributetype ="MemberInformation" attributeparam ="Count" type="System.Int32" comparertype="ditCreditEMGTestAutomationDifferenceEngine.Comparers.TypeComparer, ditCreditEMGTestAutomationDifferenceEngine.dll" /> The token that is passed in < for the generic methods has to be the type for which the method is being invoked. From the type key configuration in the XML, an instance of Type represnting the type can be created{i.e. Type.GetType("System.Int32")}, but how can the Type Definition be generated which can then be passed to the the Generic method? (defmethod some-fn ((num string)) (print "a string")) (some-fn "asrt") "a string" Not with a specific string, however (defmethod some-fn ((num (eql "A")) (print "a specifict string"))) => doesn't compile I imagine it doesn't work because eql does not work on strings in the way that would be necessary for it to work. (eql "a" "a") => nil Is there a way to do it?

    PHP doesn't get much love but is still a winner at easy deployment (for cheap hosting). Are there any programming languages (besides haXe) that target PHP? Writing applications in this language and then translating it into PHP, like some languages target C as an intermediate language? The Scheme implementation Chicken compiles into C. XOTcl converts Java code into Tcl code LINJ was(?) a tool to convert Lisp into nice looking Java code … + a lot of ways to produce JavaScript without touching JavaScript.

What it means? what is the problem. This is the same with emulator too....

  • Decoding and caching json every 60 minutes

    Hi, How do I do this on a php webpage? I want to get and decode a json string and display the results as html on my page, however, I don't want it hotlinking back to the source. If I could write the decoded string to a txt file say weather.txt on the server and keep the html formatting and do it so that the page won't fetch the json script until 60 minutes has passed since the last time it was fetched regardless of how many times the page is opened during that 60 minute period and the weather.txt is viewed. All I can come up with is a simple script that hotlinks, everything else I have tried simply failed. $file = file_get_contents('http://sample.com/weather'); $out = (json_decode($file)); echo $out-mainText; Will appreciate any help with this.

  • How to quit / terminate / stop a j2me midlet?

    Surprisingly terminating a midlet doesn't work in my application. Maybe it is because I'm using Threads, but destroyApp() and notifyDestroyed() are not sufficient.   • How Does Differential Execution Work?

    I've seen a few mentions of this on SO, but staring at Wikipedia and at an MFC dynamic dialog demo did nothing to enlighten me. Can someone please explain this? Learning a fundamentally different concept sounds nice. Edit: I think I'm getting a better feel for it. I guess I just didn't look at the source code carefully enough the first time. I have mixed feelings about DE at this point. On the one hand, it can make certain tasks considerably easier. On the other hand, getting it up and running (i.e. setting it up in your language of choice) is not easy (I'm sure it would be if I understood it better)...though I guess the toolbox for it need only be made once, then expanded as necessary. I think in order to really understand it, I'll probably need to try implimenting it in another language.

  • Reflection: take values from an unknown running alpplication

    I'm writing an application that searchs for Semaphore types in the fields of unknown classes in unknown application (passed by user). I made it using Reflection and it worked. Now I want to fill up these semaphores with values, taking them from a running instance of this unknown application. So i took the class with "main" method of this unknown application, made a newInstance, and passed it when invoking the main method to start the application: Class mainClass = getItSomeWhere(); Object instance = mainClass.newInstance(); Method mainMethod = mainClass.getDeclaredMethod("main", new Class[]{String[].class}); mainMethod.invoke(instance, new Object[]{args}); and it worked fine. Now, how can I get the semaphore values, taking them from the classes of this running application, when I only have an instance of the main class? Many thanks for the answers.

  • Help using Lisp debugger

    I'm trying understand how to interpret the output of, and use, the Lisp debugger. I've got a pretty simple Backtrace for the evaluation of my function, but I cann't seem to work out how to use it to find out in which Lisp 'form' in my function the exception occurred. I'd appreciate any clues as to what I should be doing, to find the source of the error. I've attached a screen shot (if it's too small to read I can re-post it in parts), with the debug output, the function and the repl (please ignore my very wrong function, I'm just interested in learning how to use the debugger properly). In addition, I hit 'v' on the first frame to go to the source, but this resulted in the error at the bottom of the screen.

  • How to enable/create elements on the fly

    Hi all I am using a combination of PHP, jQuery and Spry to serve a series of listboxes in which a user will select first the type of vehicle, then the make, then the model and finally the specific model. All my listboxes (SELECT) are working fine, and they update properly using the Spry elements. Each listbox is populated from a different Spry XML Dataset, and this is my problem. If I present all four listboxes to the user, the script has to go and fetch all four lots of XML to populate all four listboxes, taking several seconds. What I want to do is to create/enable the listboxes in order, so at the user selects from the first listbox, the second is created/enabled, when they select from the second, the third is created/enabled... and so on. Setting the disabled attribute is no good because the script has already fetched the XML before this is processed. Any ideas?? Si

  • Why do people develop emotional attachments for programming languages?

    Aside from people who actually developed the languages, I really don't get how someone can develop passion/attachment/perhaps even obsession for a programming language... yet not a day goes by that I don't see a programmer exhibiting this behavior on the internet. I understand how people can feel this way regarding spoken languages - but there's a whole boatload of culture, history, etc that come attached with them. By comparison, the "Python Culture" (as an example) is so small as to be wholly insignificant. Does everyone have a language they love? Am I the odd one out? The dirty polygamist? Are these people rational or silly?
