    Hi, in C++, using printf I want to print a sequence of number, so I get, from a "for" loop; 1 2 ... 9 10 11 and I create files from those numbers. But when I list them using "ls" I get 10 11 1 2 .. so instead of trying to solve the problem using bash, I wonder how could I print; 0001 0002 ... 0009 0010 0011 and so on Thanks

    I am a Yii beginner and am running into a bit of a wall and hope someone will be able to help me get back onto track. I think this might be a fairly straight forward question to the seasoned Yii user. So here goes...   • Why the server is not responding?

    Hello! Our server occasionally refuses to serve a simple HTML page. This is happening during a relatively high number of requests. However, the processor is not heavy loaded and there are a lot of free memory. The error seems to occure 1 out of 50 requests in average, depending on the server load. I need to find the source of the problem and take the appropriate actions to eliminate it. I have a suspicion that the problem source is a huge number of incoming network packets. There are 5000 packets per second on average. Traffic - 2 MBits/sec Can this be the cause of the error? There is an interesting thing, in case the server fails to respond, the request string is not logged to access.log by Apache. The error is repeatable from several client computers. DNS is not involved, since I have accessed the server by the IP. I have profiled the problem case with tcpdump utility. These are the good and bad sessions traced by tcpdump. The request is the same in both experiments. Good - server returns response.   • unable to sniff traffic despite network interface being in monitor or promiscuous mode

    I'm trying to sniff out my network's wireless traffic but am having issues. I'm able to put the card in monitor mode, but am unable to see any traffic except broadcasts, multicasts and probe/beacon frames. I have two network interfaces on this laptop. One is connected normally to 'linksys' and the other is in monitor mode. The interface in monitor mode is on the right channel. I'm not associated with the access point because, as I understand, I don't need to if using monitor mode (vs promiscuous). When I try to ping the router ip, I'm not seeing that traffic show up in wireshark.   • How to understand the memory usage and load average in linux server

    Hi, I am using a linux server which has 128GB of memory and 24 cores. I use top to see how much it is used. Its output is pasted at the end of the post. Here are two questions: (1) I see that each of the running processes occupies a very small percentage of memory (%MEM no more than 0.2%, and most just 0.0%), but how the total memory is almost used as in the fourth line of output ("Mem: 130766620k total, 130161072k used, 605548k free, 919300k buffers")? The sum of used percentage of memory over all processes seems unlikely to achieve almost 100%, doesn't it? (2) how to understand the load average on the first line ("load average: 14.04, 14.02, 14.00")? Thanks and regards! Edit: Thanks! I also really like to hear some rough numbers based on used percentage of memory to determine if a server is heavily loaded, since I once became the one who cramed the server without understanding the current load. Is swap regarded as almost the same as memory? For example, when memory and swap are almost of same size, if the memory is almost running out but the swap is still largely free, may I just view it as if the used percentage of memory + swap is still not high and run other new processes? How would you consider together CPU or memory (or memory + swap) usage? Do you become worried if either of them reaches too high or both? And appears that hacker can see all content of VPS, rename, delete, upload etc. From my opinion, if in PuTTY use command like chattr +i /etc/php.ini then hacker could not be able to modify php.ini. Is there any other way to get into VPS?

  • Installing chrome in Centos 6.2 (Final)

    I need to install chrome in a dedicated centos server where I only access via ssh, it doesn't have X or any windows graphical stuff. I need it to be able to pack extensions using google-chrome --pack-extension. I tried adding this to /etc/yum.repos.d/google.repo [google-chrome] name=google-chrome - 32-bit baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/i386 enabled=1 gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub And then yum install google-chrome-stable, but there's a huge list of dependencies problems: How can I install chrome without breaking anything else?     On Linux Ubuntu 11.04, after each command (cd, ls, vim...) successful or not, tmux prints out as a last line ps1_update: command not found. Is there any config option I am missing? For example Client A can ping the NIC at 10.0.0.2 and vice-versa, but it gets a general transmit failure when it tries to ping the card at 223.6.6.2, let alone trying to ping the other client. I have completely disabled the firewalls on all machines and anything else I could think of, without success. What am I missing? Edit: Since posting this, I also noticed that the default gateways on my 2 NICs keep getting zeroed out. Does anyone know a fix for this?

    I'm running Apache 2.2.15-29 on RHEL 6 (actually Scientific Linux 6.4) and I'm trying to set up a reverse proxy with content rewriting so all of the links on the proxied web pages are rewritten to reference the proxy host. I'm running into a problem with some of the content rewriting and I'd like to know if this is a bug or if I'm doing something wrong (and how to do it right, if applicable). I'm proxying a subdirectory on an internal host (internal.example.com/foo) onto the root of an external host (external.example.com). I need to rewrite HTML, CSS, and Javascript content to fix all of the URLs. I'm also hosting some content locally on the external host, which I don't think is a problem but I'm mentioning here for completeness.
