    Some months ago I found a project-management / time-estimation software that would ask you to sort out your tasks in terms of difficulty (1, 2 or 3) and would then estimate the time you would take to deploy. The system would auto-adapt as you were working. I've forgot the software name. For the past days I've been digging emails and searching Google with no results.     I've got a commercial SaaS application, an online collaboration/lean project mgmt tool. I want to offer a "Community Edition", with specific limitations on how the software can be used, for free. For example free for groups using it to manage open source projects free to K-12 teachers to use in the classroom free for authors collaborating on Lean/Kanban/AgileSoftwareDevelopment books and research papers. free for community conference organizers, user group organizers, etc. The license would grant use of the software with limitations. The software itself can enforce limitations on the number of users/projects. I'm looking for a license agreement / EULA that I can use to specify what uses the software can be used for (see above). It would restrict the users from using it in different ways, such as for commercial use, managing consulting projects, client work, etc. I've been combing the web for good examples of such agreements, and so far coming up short. Any ideas? To be clear, this would not be an open source license of any kind. It would cover the use of commercial software, for specific "community" uses, as we define them.

    Say you have the following css applied to a div tag .divtagABS { position: absolute; margin-left: auto; margin-right:auto; } the margin-left and margin-right does not take effect but if you have relative, it works fine i.e. ,divtagREL { position: relative; margin-left: auto; margin-right:auto; } why is that? i just want to center an element can someone explain why setting margins to auto in absolute position does not work?

I have a main Dialog (the one that is created automatically when I select new MFC Application in Visual Studio 2008 Professional). When I click a button on this dialog I want to open another dialog and set a CString value into a CEdit control. my code: ... void OnClickedButtonX(){ SecondDialogClass Dlg2; Dlg2.asocVar2Cedit.SetWindowTextW(L"my text"); Dlg2.DoModal(); } //asocVar2Cedit is the associeted control variable to the //CEdit control on the second Dialog (Right Click > Add Variable.. in VSC++) ... this code generates a "Debug Assertion" error in winocc... Any ideas ? Thank you in advance.

    just some general and specific questions about running a business which uses open source software and sells training, services, and other value added solutions utilizing the open source asset(s). 1) how much modification do you need to make to an existing open source software/framework to give a new brand ? open source (GPLv3) branding issues here.... for ex) Mambo and Joomla, i think they are pretty much same ? but they have different labels. 2) Is there a disadvantage of promoting open source software/framework/suite in hopes of selling value added services and solutions on top of the Open source asset ? 3) can Open source assets be marketing point for lowered Total Ownership Cost and transparency ? meaning, clients will not be using some mysterious, opaque proprietary asset ? 4) is competition fierce? cost of developing software is non existing because you are using an open source asset. barrier to entry is minimal ??

    I've got a few questions about best practices in Python. Not too long ago I would do something like this with my code: ... junk_block = "".join(open("foo.txt","rb").read().split()) ... I don't do this anymore because I can see that it makes code harder to read, but would the code run slower if I split the statements up like so: f_obj = open("foo.txt", "rb") f_data = f_obj.read() f_data_list = f_data.split() junk_block = "".join(f_data_list) I also noticed that there's nothing keeping you from doing an 'import' within a function block, is there any reason why I should do that?

    Hi there IMHO to me OOPS, design patterns make sense and i have been able to apply them practically. But when it comes to "generic programming /meta programming" of the Modern C++ kind, i am left confused. -- Is it a new programming/design paradigm ? -- Is it just limited to "library development"? If not, What design/coding situations call for using meta programming/generic programming. -- Does using templates mean i am doing generic programming? I have googled a lot on this topic but do not grasp the BIG PICTURE fully. Also see this post. After reading dicussions here under, up till now, I am sure ( might still not be correct): a) Generic programming and meta programming are two different concepts.

  • sizeToFit label voids align right / set minimum width of label

    Here is my code I am using to make a label (which contains content of an unknown length) the correct height for the content. (lines is equal to 0) myLabel.text =[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", myLabelContent]; myLabel.frame = CGRectMake(myLabel.frame.origin.x, myLabel.frame.origin.y, myLabel.frame.size.width, 800); [myLabel sizeToFit]; The only problem is, it is resizing the width as well as the height. I have two labels side by side, one aligned left, one aligned right. The left aligned one works fine. However, the right aligned one becomes intended (from the right). Because of its width resize, the content always starts at the origin.x position (in effect) because the label is made to be the shortest width required. I hope that makes sense. Is there a way to override or reset the width after auto resize had solved the height problem, or set a minimum width for the label? Many Thanks in advance, Deco

  • Windows Service suddenly doing nothing

    Hi, My windows service is using a Thread (not a timer) which is always looping and sleeps for 1 second every loop using : evet.WaitOne(interval); When I start the service it works fine and I can see in the task manager that it is running, consuming and releasing memory, consuming processor ... etc that is all normal, but after a while (random amount of time) the service simply stops!! it is still there in the task manager but it is not consuming any processor work now and its consumption to the memory is not changing. it simply (died but still there in the task manager like a Zombie). I know that many exceptions might have happened during running the service (it is really doing many things) but all those exceptions are handled in Try catch blocks, so why is my "always looping" thread stops ??? This thread also logs every time he loops, when he is freezig in this way he is not logging anything (of course)

I assumed that i would be able to do the following NSString* foo = @"12.5"; NSNumber* bar; bar = [foo floatValue]; However i find that i have used to the more verbose method of NSString* foo = @"12.5"; NSNumber* bar; bar = [NSNumber numberWithFloat:[foo floatValue]]; Am i doing it wrong or is this as good as it gets?

We are running multiple webshops in a SAAS application where it is possible that users are adding products, buying products and paying for products online, and so on... When deploying we want to do this as clean as possible, so that not payments or orders or other critical data will be lost. We have a deployment scenario set up using phing (amazing tool!) but we are missing one crucial step being the "locking of the live site" while deploying. What is a possible way to lock a live site and bring it back online after deploying?
