  • Static library woes in iPhone 3.x with categories and C libraries

    I have a static library (let's call it S) that uses a category (NSData+Base64 from MGTwitterEngine) and a C library (MiniZip wrapped by ZipArchive). This static library is used in an iPhone 3.x project (let's call it A). To be able to use the MiniZip library I included its files in project A as well as the static library S. If not I get compilation errors. Project A works fine on the simulator. When I run it on the device, I get unrecognized selector errors when the category is used. As pointed out here, it seems there's a linker bug that affects categories in iPhone 3.x (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1147676/categories-in-static-library-for-iphone-device-3-0). The workaround is to add -all_load to the Other Linker Flags of the project that references the static library. However, if I do this then I get duplicate symbol errors because I included the MiniZip libraries in project A. A workaround is to include the category files in project A as well. If I do this, project A works well in the device, but fails to build on the simulator because of duplicate symbol errors. How should I set up project A to make it work on the simulator and the device with the same configuration?

  • filtering itunes library items by file location

    3 answers and unfortunately no solution yet. The Problem I've got way more than 1000 duplicated items in my iTunes Library pointing to a non-existant place (the "where" under "get info" window), along with other duplicated items and other MIAs (Missing In Action). Is there any simple way to just delete all of them and only them? From the library, of course. By that I mean some MIAs are pointing to /Volumes while some are pointing to .../music/Music/... or just .../music/.... I want to delete all pointing to /Volumes as to later I'll recover the rest. Check the image below. Some Background I tried searching for a specific key word on the path and creating smart play list, but with no result. Being able to just sort all library by path would be a perfect solution! I believe old iTunes could do that. PowerTunes can do it (sort by path) but I can't do anything with its list. I would also welcome any program able to handle this, then import and properly export back the iTunes library. Since this seems to just not be clear enough... AppleScript doesn't work That's because AppleScript just can't gather the missing info anywhere in iTunes Library. Maybe we could use AppleScript by opening the XML file, but that's a whole nother issue.     I am using jxl api for generating a excel sheet, in which the alternate rows are highlighted, when I sort the contents of a excel and sort manually, the cell background colors messup, usually this is because I am writing the color cell by cell, is there anyway through which i color the alternate rows of the excel while generating it, in such a way that it doesnt effect the sorting of the contents.

  • LGPL library with plugins of varied licenses

    Note: "Plugins" here refers to shared objects that are accessed via dlopen() and friends. I'm writing a library that I'm planning on releasing under the LGPL. Its functionality can be extended (supporting new audio file formats, specifically) through plugins. I'm planning on creating an exception to the LGPL for this library so that plugins can be released under any license. So far so good. I've written a number of plugins already, some of which use LGPL and some of which use GPL libraries. I'm wary of releasing them with the main library, however, due to licensing issues. The LGPL-based ones would generally be fine, but for my "any license" clause. Would distributing these LGPL-based plugins with the library require the consent of the other license holders to create this exception? Along the same lines, would the inclusion of GPL-based plugins with my library force the whole thing to go GPL? I could also release the plugins separately. The advantage, I presume, is that the plugins an d library will now not be distributed together, creating more separation. But this seems to be no different, really, in the end. Boiled down: Can I include, with my LGPL library, plugins of varied licenses? If not, is it really any different releasing them separately? And if so, there's no real need to create an exception for non-LGPL plugins, is there? It's LGPL or nothing. I'd prefer asking a lawyer, of course, but this is just a hobby and I can't afford to hire a lawyer when I don't expect or want monetary compensation. I'm just hoping others have been in similar situations and have insight.

  • Output excel spreadsheets with or without Office PIA

    I have a program that currently outputs Excel via SpreadsheetML files. I build these using streams. This is very space inefficient for Excel; the files can be 5 to 6 times as large as other Excel binary formats. I would like to output a binary excel format such as .xls or .xlsx, but I don't want to have the installation of the program depend on Office. Some users might have it installed, some might not. How can I handle this gracefully? Is it possible to not have an assembly as a dependency but based on the user enabling binary output still use the assembly?

Now i can do this in VBA with no problem, the trouble i am running into is there is also a entry that will eventually go in say column D and would need a date stamp in column E as well. is this possible. here is a sample of the code i have used so far.   • How does Task Parallel Library scale on a terminal server or in a web application?

    I understand that the TPL uses work-stealing queues for its tasks when I execute things like Parallel.For and similar constructs. If I understand this correctly, the construct will spin up a number of tasks, where each will start processing items. If one of the tasks complete their allotted items, it will start stealing items from the other tasks which hasn't yet completed theirs. This solves the problem where items 1-100 are cheap to process and items 101-200 are costly, and one of the two tasks would just sit idle until the other completed. (I know this is a simplified exaplanation.) However, how will this scale on a terminal server or in a web application (assuming we use TPL in code that would run in the web app)? Can we risk saturating the CPUs with tasks just because there are N instances of our application running side by side? Is there any information on this topic that I should read? I've yet to find anything in particular, but that doesn't mean there is none.

  • How are Flash library symbols constructed? Why are width/height already available in constructor?

    Suppose I draw a square on the stage, convert it to a symbol, export it for ActionScript with a classname of "MySquare" (and of course a base class of MovieClip). How is it that in the MySquare constructor, the width and height of this MovieClip are already available? In fact, any named instances in the clip are also available. I'm confused about how the Flash player seems to be able to pre-construct my movie clip by populating its properties and child clips before my constructor for the class ever runs. I thought that it would have to first construct the clip, calling my constructor code, and then construct and add any children, but obviously the player is doing something special for clips designed in the Flash authoring environment.

  • How do I set selection to Nothing when programming Excel using VBA?

    When I create a graph after using range.copy and range.paste it leaves the paste range selected, and then when I create a graph a few lines later, it uses the selection as the first series in the plot. I can delete the series, but is there a more elegant way to do this? I tried Set selection = nothing but it won't let me set selection. I also tried selection.clear, but that just cleared the last cells that were selected, and still added an extra series to the plot. Curt

  • How can I change my code in Excel 2003 to allow me to paste to multiple cells?

    Ran in to a little problem. If I try to paste to multiple cells that are in the range in the code below, I get a run time error 13, type mismatch. The cells in the range may have data other than X but I only want the hyperlink to appear if the cell contains X. It works fine if I just type an X in the cell or if I paste to one cell at a time. I will have times when I want to paste other text to mutiple cells in this range. Thanks to Remnant for his help on the original code. This one last hurdle will put me in the clear. Thx.
