    Anyone know of any tools to migrate emails from register.com's webmail to anything else (gmail, local mbox, anything!), I have nearly 15 years of mails and folders I want to keep. Other than spending ages writing some Perl scraper code I wondered if anyone else had already done this. sorry - It's impossible to search Google for the name of a registrar!

  • Give the path to the inserted USB key to a script

    I'd like to run a given Perl script whenever I connect my camera to my PC, so that this script will download all the photos on it. But as the drive letter for the camera may change depending on what's already connected, I need to pass this drive letter as an argument to the script. Is this doable? Thanks. PS: if this is not possible, an answer to this other question would be very helpful.

    What is the procedure for securing a Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP Server (or even Perl) for production use? Other than setting the MySql password and the root password for linux what other (maybe not so obvious) steps should be taken? Also what steps can I take if I was going to be extra paranoid that may not normally be nessasary? this is for a basic single site use but must be secure. Thank you. (sorry if this was asked before)

    Hi, I've done a far bit of research on this via Google and there seems to be quite a few ways of possibly doing this. I'm looking to incrementally backup new and updated files in two directories on my Plesk run Centos 5.2 server: /backups and /var/www/vhosts (preferable only httdocs within each vhost) Has anyone got some great feedback from using the various solutions - seems to be various Java, Perl and Ruby based solutions out there.     Hi there, We run a cluster of openvz servers and are looking for a way to automatically graph the content of user_beancounters for all ves. We currently have a fairly rudimentary cron which alerts us when limits are hit but we could like a graphing solution to show us history. Obviously we could roll our own using some fancy bash/php/perl and rrdtool but we're wondering if there are any existing solutions before we go down this path. We current run a cacti/snmp based graphing infrastructure.

Would you update every week for instance? also would you have lots of errors to handle with scripting systems like perl/cpan modules etc, since these are always tough to install anyway with compatibility issues?     Sometimes, sending a SIGTERM to a process will cause it to send SIGTERM to all its child processes. However, sometimes this doesn't work. Is there a command or a utility that will allow me to kill a process and all its child processes at the same time? I usually resort to manually collecting all the pids into one kill command, but it feels stupid. This SO question asks how to do this with perl, but anything that gets the job done would be great.

    With the following grep syntax I want to match all IP address in a file (from a ksh script) grep '[0-9]\{1,3\}\.[0-9]\{1,3\}\.[0-9]\{1,3\}\.[0-9]\{1,3\}' file The problem: It also matches words (IP) that have more then 4 octets: 1.1.1.1.1 or 192.1.1.1.160 How can I match a valid IP and only IP addresses with 4 octets? I can also use Perl – a one line syntax solution, if grep doesn't work.

The docs say that FcgidMinProcessesPerClass only enforces a minimum number of processes that will be retained in a process class after finishing requests How do I get apache to start up with a certain number of appserver subprocesses on an idle server without using artificial load to get there?

    I am looking for a command-line tool for Unix (ideally, available in a Debian / Ubuntu package) for extracting all MIME parts from a multipart email message (or the body from a singlepart with an interesting content-type, for that matter). I have been using the mimeexplode tool which ships with the Perl MIME::Tools package, but it's not really production quality (the script is included as an example only, and has issues with what it regards as "evil" character sets) and I could certainly roll my own script based on that, but if this particular wheel has already been innovated, perhaps I shouldn't.

  • How do you update an Excel file (Data Refresh and update formulas) WITHOUT opening the file?

    I have an Excel file that want to update and save automatically with out having to open it or manually interact with. Manually, I open the file up and hit data refresh which goes and does a SQL query and then hit F9 for the formulas to update and then I just close/save. (I then would mail the file out to people using a perl script or use SAS JMP to run some numbers/charts and also mail them out. Basically I need to script some things which require the XLS file to be updated.)

    Did someone achieve to do negative regexp (or part of) with Squirm ? I tried negative lookahead things and ifthenelse regexps, but Squirm 1.26 fails to understand them. What i want to do is simply: * If the url begins by 'http://' and contains 'account', then rewrite/redirect to 301:https:// * It the url begins by 'https://' and does NOT contains 'account, then rewrite/redirect to 301:http:// So far, i do that using 2 lines of perl, but squirm redirectors would take less memory
