• Accessing Elmah.axd with SqlErrorLog in SharePoint without adding user to db

  I have installed/configured Elmah on my personal SharePoint dev environment and everything works great since I'm logged in as admin, etc. I am using the MS Sql Server Error Log. (I am also using log4net to handle DEBUG/INFO/etc level logging and log statements are also stored in the db, in the same table as ELMAH's.) However, on the actual dev server (not my personal environment), when I access http://example/elmah.axd I get the error "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'". I understand that this is the traditional error for the "double-hop problem" but I don't even want my credentials to be passed along - I would just like the database access to be made with the credentials of the Application Pool Identity. When using the SP object model the SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges is available; however, I do not want to modify the Elmah source. My production environment precludes the use of SQL Server authentication, changing impersonation to false, or giving myself permissions on the db directly. How can I get this to work? Am I missing something?

  The application that I am working on has a generic Parent Form called RSChild, that is used to perform some operations depending on whether or not the control that is contained within it is in a MdiTabManager or inside of its own modal form. Then the actual User Controls contained within Inherit from a Interface Called ObjectEdit (Objects that we allow to be edited). At a point in my code I am doing this. So I have the whole If block repeated over and over. I tried doing castTabPageToRSChild(page)RSObject.GetType and using that in the DirectCast and I also tried creating another object that was separate from that and doing the same thing. My code works as intended I'm just trying to see if there is a manner in which I didn't have a lot of replicated code. My vision would be to do something like For Each page As XtraMdiTabPage In alikePages If id = DirectCast(castTabPageToRSchild(page).RSObject, TypeOfThatObject).Id Then Return True Next However I have a feeling this is not possible due to the behavior of DirectCast.

  Building a search with some custom objects and three scopes: All, Active, and Former. I have been playing around with if statements, adding AND scope == 'Active', etc. to the end of the statement and using NSCompoundPredicates to no avail. Whenever I activate a scope, I'm not getting any matches for it. Just a note that I've seen approaches like this one that take scope into account, however they only search inside one property.

• Safari flash wmode not working - anything wrong with this embed?

  I've got a problem with this embed in Safari. It works just fine on all other browsers, IE6 included. The problem is that the embed seems to jump to the very top layer, ignoring all z-index or positioning statements. This is important, because several html design features are overlayed on the flash. This embed was written to work with swfobject, but still doesnt work when: swfobject disabled wmode = transparent/opaque/removed entirely Is this a problem with safari or the code? And if it's the code then what does safari do differently to all the other browsers? Bah. • Program and debugger quit without indication of problem

  OK, not quite a Heisenbug but similar in nature. I'm developing a WPF application. When debugging, the logic reaches a certain point, then the application quits for no reason. VS debugger catches nothing and the only indication of a problem is the following in the output window: The program '[6228] SomeApp.vshost.exe: Managed (v4.0.30319)' has exited with code 1073741855 (0x4000001f). When debugging the release version, or indeed running the debug build out of the debugger (in fact all combos that aren't running the debug version in debugger), everything works fine. I'm trying to catch unhandled exceptions with the following code: AppDomain .CurrentDomain .UnhandledException += (sender, e) => { Debug.WriteLine("Unhandled Exception " + e.ExceptionObject); }; Application .Current .DispatcherUnhandledException += (sender1, e1) => { Debug.WriteLine("DispatcherUnhandledException " + e1.Exception); }; ...but I'm not catching anything. I'm considering peppering the app with debug output statements, but it's highly asynchronous so reading this will be both arduous and tedious. So tell me, if you can... how do I start figuring WTF is going on?

• iPhone: In landscape-only, after first addSubview, UITableViewController doesn't rotate properly

  A minimal illustrative Xcode project for this is available on github. On my UIWindow, when I add second (and subsequent) UITableView's as subviews, they do not rotate properly, and thus appear sideways. This is only tested in the Simulator. Here's a little code for you: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { ShellTVC* viewA = [[ShellTVC alloc] initWithTitle:@"View A"]; ShellTVC* viewB = [[ShellTVC alloc] initWithTitle:@"View B"]; // The first subview added will rotate to landscape correctly. // Any subsequent subview added will not. // You may try this by various commentings and rearranging of these two statements. [window addSubview:[viewA tableView]]; [window addSubview:[viewB tableView]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } viewB appears sideways. Comment out the addSubview for viewB, and viewA appears correctly. Do that for viewA only, and viewB appears correctly. I am not creating these UITableViewControllers via NIBs, though the UIWindow is. In case you are wondering, ShellTVC is-a UITableViewController, and implements this method: - (BOOL) shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft); } Also, I have set the UIInterfaceOrientation in the plist file to UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft.   Hello, I am at the moment creating a matrix which is showing how far Knopflerfish, Equinox and Felix are OSGi 4.2 compliant. So far I looked at the Knopflerfish documentation (Link 1, Link 2) to get an idea of how much of the Core and Compendium specs are actually implemented. The core specification seems to be fully implemented, although there are some inconsistent statements about the Security Layer and the Declarative Services. What makes me wonder is how much of all the Compendium specs are implemented: Remote Services Log Service Http Service Device Access Configuration Admin Service Metatype Service Preferences Service User Admin Service Wire Admin Service IO Connector Service Initial Provisioning UPnP Device Service Declarative Services Event Admin Service Deployment Admin Auto Configuration Application Admin DMT Admin Service Monitor Admin Service Foreign Application Access Blueprint Container Tracker XML Parser Service Position Measurement and State Execution Environment To find out more I downloaded (Download page) the source code of Knopflerfish and had a look at it. It looks like some parts of the spec are implemented through the "original" framework provided by the OSGi Alliance (org.osgi.*). One example is the UPnP package: Does this mean that missing parts which are not directly implemented by Knopflerfish are added through the "original" OSGi framework? And does this also apply to other frameworks like Felix or Equinox?

• LINQ to SQL : Too much CPU Usage: What happens when there are multiple users.

  I am using LINQ to SQL and seeing my CPU Usage sky rocketting. See below screenshot. I have three questions What can I do to reduce this CPU Usage. I have done profiling and basically removed everything. Will making every LINQ to SQL statement into a compiled query help? I also find that even with compiled queries simple statements like ByID() can take 3 milliseconds on a server with 3.25GB RAM 3.17GHz - this will just become slower on a less powerful computer. Or will the compiled query get faster the more it is used? The CPU Usage (on the local server goes to 12-15%) for a single user will this multiply with the number of users accessing the server - when the application is put on a live server. i.e. 2 users at a time will mean 15*2 = 30% CPU Usage. If this is the case is my application limited to maximum 4-5 users at a time then. Or doesnt LINQ to SQL .net share some CPU usage.

  I'm working with some SQL Report definition files (RDLs), using LINQ to extract component query statements for validation. I'm trying to extract the <DataSet> elements from under the <DataSets> element. I seem to be getting hung up with one of the elements under <DataSet><Fields><Field> which has a namespace qualifier <rd:TypeName> I've been using LINQ to XML for other parts of the files where there is no namespace qualifiers with no trouble, by specifying a default namespace. The RDL specifies two namespaces: xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2005/01/reportdefinition" xmlns:rd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner"> When I try to get the <DataSets> element, however, I get the following error: System.Xml.XmlException - The ':' character, hexadecimal value 0x3A, cannot be included in a name. I know it has to do with the namespace qualifier (rd:) in one of the child elements, but I'm having difficulty getting a LINQ expression that works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

• Any way for a class to prevent outside code from declaring variables of its type?

  Is it possible for a class of exposing a type for function returns, without allowing users of that class to create variables of that type? A couple usage scenarios: A Fluent interface on a large class; a statement like "foo=bar.WithX(5).WithY(9).WithZ(19);" would be inefficient if it had to create three new instances of the class, but could be much more efficient if the WithX could create one instance, and the other statements could simply use it. A class may wish to support a statement like "foo[19].x = 9;" even when foo itself isn't an array, and does not hold the data in class instances that can be exposed to the public; one way to do that is to have foo[19] return a struct which holds a reference to 'foo' and the value '19', and has a member property 'x' which could call "foo.SetXValue(19, 9);" Such a struct could have a conversion operator to convert itself to the "apparent" type of foo[19]. In both of these scenarios, storing the value returned by a method or property into a variable and then using it more than once would cause strange behavior. It would be desirable if the designer of the class exposing such methods or properties could ensure that callers wouldn't be able to use them more than once. Is there any practical way to accomplish that?

• Japanese text garbled while passing to a http restlet service

  Hi , I have a perl client which is calling a http restlet service (put method). Some of the parameters in this call contain japanese text. when I printed the contents of these request parameters in the restlet service I found these chars garbled ! This is my PERL client code: my %request_headers = ( 'DocumentName' => $document_name, --> This name is a JAPANESE String 'DocumentDescription' => 'Test Japanese Chars', 'content-length' => 200, 'Content-Type' => 'application/octet-stream; charset=utf-8', 'User-Agent' => "JPCharTester", ); $s-write_request('PUT', '/test-document/TEST/TEST_DOCUMENT' , %request_headers, $content); in this call both the values of $context and $document_name are JAPANESE Strings. But ONLY the document_name is received as garbled in my backend service. • How effective can this Tagging solution be?

  Im working on an image sharing site and want to implement tagging for the images. I've read Questions #20856 and #2504150 I have few concerns with the approach on the questions above. First of all it looks easy to link an image to a tag. However getting images by tag relation is not as easy. Not easy because you will have to get the image-to-tag relation from one table and then make a big query with a bunch of OR statements( one OR for every image). Before i even research the tagging topic i started testing the following method: This tables as examples: Table: Image Columns: ItemID, Title, Tags Table: Tag Columns: TagID, Name The Tags column in the Image table takes a string with multiple tagID from the Tag table enclosed by dashes(-). For example: -65-25-105- Links an image with the TagID 65,25 and 105. With this method i find it easier to get images by tag as i can get the TagID with one query and get all the images with another simple query like: SELECT * FROM Image WHERE Tags LIKE %-65-% So if i use this method for tagging, How effective this is? Is querying by LIKE %-65-% a slow process? What problems can i face in the future?

Also tried calling -finish but even that doesn't change anything. Every time I add an operation to the queue, the queue size only increases. finish is called (checked using NSLog statements) but it doesn't really end the operation. I'm still not very confident I'm doing this right Can someone please tell me where I am going wrong? Thanks a lot

  This question isn't meant as flame-bait! As it might be apparent, I've been looking at Scalaz recently. I'm trying to understand why I need some of the functionality that the library provides. My functions are: val f: NEL[Int] => String = (l: NEL[Int]) => {println("f: " + l); l.toString |+| "X" } val g: NEL[String] => BigInt = (l: NEL[String]) => {println("g: " + l); BigInt(l.map(_.length).sum) } Then I combine them via a cokleisli and pass in a NEL[Int] val k = cokleisli(f) =>= cokleisli(g) println("RES: " + k( NEL(1, 2, 3) )) What does this print? f: NonEmptyList(1, 2, 3) f: NonEmptyList(2, 3) f: NonEmptyList(3) g: NonEmptyList(NonEmptyList(1, 2, 3)X, NonEmptyList(2, 3)X, NonEmptyList(3)X) RES: 57 The RES value is the character count of the (String) elements in the final NEL. Two things occur to me: How could I have known that my NEL was going to be reduced in this manner from the method signatures involved? (I wasn't expecting the result at all) What is the point of this? Can a reasonably simple and easy-to-follow use case be distilled for me? This question is a thinly-veiled plea for some lovely person like retronym to explain how this powerful library actually works.

I've tried to do this in the following example: u = 3.986*10^14 Meter^3/Second^2; v[r_, a_] := Sqrt[u (2/r - 1/a)]; Convert[r, Meter]; Convert[a, Meter]; If I try to use the defined function and conversion: a = 24503 Kilo Meter; s = 10198.5 Meter/Second; r = 6620 Kilo Meter; Solve[v[r, x] == s, x] The function returns the following: {x -> (3310. Kilo Meter^3)/(Meter^2 - 0.000863701 Kilo Meter^2)} which is not the user-friendly format. Anyway I would like to define a and r in meters or kilometers and get the result s in meters/second (Meter/Second). I would be very thankful if anyone of you could correct the given function definition and other statements in order to get the wanted result.

• Is there a workaround for JDBC w/liquibase and MySQL session variables & client side SQL instructions

  Slowly building a starter changeSet xml file for one of three of my employer's primary schema's. The only show stopper has been incorporating the sizable library of MySQL stored procedures to be managed by liquibase. One sproc has been somewhat of a pain to deal with: The first few statements go like use TargetSchema; select "-- explanatory inline comment thats actually useful --" into vDummy; set @@session.sql_mode='TRADITIONAL' ; drop procedure if exists adm_delete_stats ; delimiter $$ create procedure adm_delete_stats( ...rest of sproc I cut out the use statement as its counter-productive, but real issue is the set @@session.sql_mode statement which causes an exception like liquibase.exception.MigrationFailedException: Migration failed for change set ./foobarSchema/sprocs/adm_delete_stats.xml::1293560556-151::dward_autogen dward: Reason: liquibase.exception.DatabaseException: Error executing SQL ... And then the delimiter statement is another stumbling block. Doing do dilligence research I found this rejected MySQL bug report here and this MySQL forum thread that goes a little bit more in depth to the problem here. Is there anyway I can use the sproc scripts that currently exist with Liquibase or would I have to re-write several hundred stored procedures? I've tried createProcedure, sqlFile, and sql liquibase tags without much luck as I think the core issue is that set, delimiter, and similar SQL commands are meant to be interpreted and acted upon by the client side interpreter before being delivered to the server.

• GWT: uiBinder-based widget cant be instanced second time

  Hi. I created a widget using GWT uiBinder. It works fine, till the moment when I want to instance it second time. After i call constructor second time it returns only raw description from XML and statements in constructor (rootElement.add( new HTML( "panel1" ), leftId );) are just don't work. It throws no error or warning. • MySQL Full-Text Search Across Multiple Tables - Quick/Long Solution?

  Hello all, I have been doing a bit of research on full-text searches as we realized a series of LIKE statements are terrible. My first find was MySQL full-text searches. I tried to implement this and it worked on one table, failed when I was trying to join multiple tables, and so I consulted stackoverflow's articles (look at the end for a list of the ones I've been to) I didn't see anything that clearly answered my questions. I'm trying to get this done literally in an hour or two (quick solution) but I also want to do a better long term solution. Here is my query: SELECT a.`product_id`, a.`name`, a.`slug`, a.`description`, b.`list_price`, b.`price`, c.`image`, c.`swatch`, e.`name` AS industry FROM `products` AS a LEFT JOIN `website_products` AS b ON (a.`product_id` = b.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN ( SELECT `product_id`, `image`, `swatch` FROM `product_images` WHERE `sequence` = 0) AS c ON (a.`product_id` = c.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN `brands` AS d ON (a.`brand_id` = d.`brand_id`) INNER JOIN `industries` AS e ON (a.`industry_id` = e.`industry_id`) WHERE b.`website_id` = 96 AND b.`status` = 1 AND b.`active` = 1 AND MATCH( a.`name`, a.`sku`, a.`description`, d.`name` ) AGAINST ( 'ashley sofa' ) GROUP BY a.`product_id` ORDER BY b.`sequence` LIMIT 0, 9 The error I get is: Incorrect arguments to MATCH If I remove d.name from the MATCH statement it works. I have a full-text index on that column. I saw one of the articles say to use an OR MATCH for this table, but won't that lose the effectiveness of being able to rank them together or match them properly? Other places said to use UNIONs but I don't know how to do that properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In the idea of a long term solution it seems that either Sphinx or Lucene is best. Now by no means and I a MySQL guru, and I heard that Lucene is a bit more complicated to setup, any recommendations or directions would be great. • Why is Django/FastCGI/Apache logging HTTP status code 200 for every request, even 404s?

  Edit: I have now discovered that the status code is returned correctly, it just isn't recorded correctly in Apache's access.log. Title amended. This is still a problem. Any ideas? Original question follows. Hi all. I run the following stack: Django(svn) on WSGI on FastCGI on Apache on Dreamhost. Every page served by Django returns HTTP status code 200, even those resulting from statements such as raise Http404 There is a .htaccess file which directs most pages to Django, via my dispatch.fcgi file, and other pages elsewhere. The other pages return correct status codes, e.g. trying to access /.htaccess itself results in status code 403. When I run my Django project on a local development server (Apache, not Django's built-in development server), I get correct status codes, so I don't think this is caused by my Django code. My current thinking is that the problem lies somewhere in how the FastCGI/WSGI interface is configured, but I'm not sure how to proceed debugging this. Any tips on how I can find out what's causing this?

  Hi guys I want you to Guide me here. This other day I was working out some AJAX for my ASP.Net website and handling client side code in Java was taking the hell out of me. Then I got my hands on this Book jQuery In Action 2nd Edition and solved my problem with the help of Example code in the book. Now as I checked the contents I got an overview that whatever I had ever thought of doing can be done by this jQuery so easily and quite cleanly. I am actually pretty new to web development (say abt 4months ) and from C# world where we have cool libraries and Simple and Elegant coding style. (yeah including those generic, Ienumerable, lambadas, chained statements.. you got it…) and you know what you’re doing when writing some code. And we have so great IntelliSense to care., and above all we have everything Strongly Typed. But in Javascript everything is so messy.. . (and I don’t know why they are not properly indented.. see page source ) Now tell me what should I do, go straight with jQuery or should I first learn Javascript (like a disciplined boy…I even have a book for that too… got in gift :) …. ) I have seen Is it a good idea to learn JavaScript before learning jQuery? but remember I have already got a project on my hand…

• Flickr 'Invalid auth token (98)' Uploading videos from Asp.net Application

  I am attempting to allow user to upload videos to Flickr from an Asp.net application using the FlickrNet library/API. I've obtained an API key and an API secret from Flickr. Additionally I am retrieving an authToken using the AuthGetFrob method from the FlickrNet library. My Using Statements are as Follows using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using FlickrNet; I have created two methods to accomplish this task. One which gets and returns the AuthToken private string GetAuthenticateToken() { Flickr flickr = new Flickr(FLICKR_API_KEY, FLICKR_API_SECRET); string frob = flickr.AuthGetFrob(); return flickr.AuthCalcUrl(frob, AuthLevel.Write); } And One the Uploads the File Using that AuthToken public void UploadFile(string fileName, string title, string description) { try { string authToken = GetAuthenticateToken(); Flickr flickr = new Flickr(FLICKR_API_KEY, FLICKR_API_SECRET, authToken); string photoId = flickr.UploadPicture(fileName, title, description, "", true, false, false); } catch (Exception ex) { throw ex; } } However, when I make the call to 'UploadPicture' the following exception is thrown. 'Invalid auth token (98)'.
