• Google App Engine - Spring Security Issue (java.security.AccessControlException)

  I'm currently getting the AccessControlException below when I deploy to app engine (I don't see it when I run in my local environment). I'm using GAE 1.3.1, Spring 3.0.1, and Spring Security 3.0.2. Any ideas how to get around this issue? It appears to be an issue with Spring Security trying to get the system class loader, but I'm not sure how to work around this. • datagrid height issue in nested datagrid( when using three data grid)

• Jboss logging issue

  Our application is deployed on JBoss As 4.0x and we face some issues with JBoss logging. Whenever the server is restarted, JBoss stops logging, and there is no update in server.log. After that it is not updating the log file. Then we do touch cmd on log4j.xml, so that it creates the log files again. Please help me in fixing the issue we cant do touch everytime. We face this issue in both the nodes. I could not figure where the problem is? If any other issues, we can check the log files. If log itself is not getting updated/logged, how can we move further in analyzing the issues without the recent/updated logs? • Reading email address from contacts fails with weird memory issue - Solved

  Hi all, I'm stumped. I'm trying to get a list of all the email address a person has. I'm using the ABPeoplePickerNavigationController to select the person, which all seems fine. I'm setting my ABRecordRef personDealingWith; from the person argument to - (BOOL)peoplePickerNavigationController:(ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *)peoplePicker shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson:(ABRecordRef)person property:(ABPropertyID)property identifier:(ABMultiValueIdentifier)identifier { and everything seems fine up till this point. The first time the following code executes, all is well. When subsequently run, I can get issues. This crashes with a *** -[Not A Type retain]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x4e9dc60 error. But wait, there's more! I can fix it in either of two ways. Firstly, I can uncomment the NSLog at the top of the function. I get a leak from the NSLog's ABRecordCopyValue every time through, but the code seems to run fine. Also, I can comment out the CFRelease(multi); at the end, which does exactly the same thing. Static compilation errors, but running code. So without a leak, this function crashes. To prevent a crash, I need to haemorrhage memory. Neither is a great solution. Can anyone point out what's going on? Solution: It turned out that I wasn't storing the ABRecordRef personDealingWith var correctly. I'm still not sure how to do that properly, but instead of having the functionality in another routine (performed later), I'm now doing the grunt-work in the delegate method, and using the derived results at my leisure.   I am having issue with the following: I can't seem to keep the link I am selecting in each repeated item. The word "this" is getting lost. the Var event_id works for each element, but the var $something is undefined? • OpenGL alpha blending issue with back face visible.

  I'm trying to display "transparent" surfaces (not closed volumes) with both the front face and back face are visible (not culled). For example displaying a cone or cylinder where the transparency is applied on both sides. There are some visible artifacts where some part of the surface does not seems to be handling the alpha values correctly. The issue it seems is when I (opengl) is trying to apply the alpha from the front side of the surface to the backside of the surface. • Thread locking issue with FileHelpers between calling engine.ReadNext() method and readign engine.Li

  I use producer/consumer pattern with FileHelpers library to import data from one file (which can be huge) using multiple threads. Each thread is supposed to import a chunk of that file and I would like to use LineNumber property of the FileHelperAsyncEngine instance that is reading the file as primary key for imported rows. FileHelperAsyncEngine internally has an IEnumerator IEnumerable.GetEnumerator(); which is iterated over using engine.ReadNext() method. That internally sets LineNumber property (which seems is not thread safe). Consumers will have Producers assiciated with them that will supply DataTables to Consumers which will consume them via SqlBulkLoad class which will use IDataReader implementation which will iterate over a collection of DataTables which are internal to a Consumer instance. Each instance of will have one SqlBulkCopy instance associate with it. I have thread locking issue. Below is how I create multiple Producer threads. I start each thread afterwords. Produce method on a producer instance will be called determining which chunk of input file will be processed. It seems that engine.LineNumber is not thread safe and I doesn't import a proper LineNumber in the database. It seems that by the time engine.LineNumber is read some other thread called engine.ReadNext() and changed engine.LineNumber property. I don't want to lock the loop that is supposed to process a chunk of input file because I loose parallelism. How to reorganize the code to solve this threading issue?   I am using Microsoft WPF datagrid. I have noticed a strange behavior with WPF datagrid DataGridTemplateColumn. When you use the templateColumn in the grid and the template column contains some controls when you tab from the previous column the focus is not automatically given to the first element declared in the template column. The foucs is initally set on the border of the template column and when we tab of once agin the focus goes to the first column. Any workaround for this issue. How can i set the focus to go the first element in the template column of the datagrid when i tab off.

• jQuery UI sortable scroll helper element offset Firefox issue

  I have a problem with a jQuery UI 1.7.2 sortable list in Firefox 3.6, IE7-8 work fine. When I'm scrolled down a bit, the helper element seems to have an offset of the same height that I'm scrolled down from the mouse pointer which makes it impossible to see which item you originally started dragging. How do I fix this or work around the issue? If there is no fix what is a really good alternative drag-able plugin? • UITableView issue when using separate delegate/dataSource

  General Description: To start with what works, I have a UITableView which has been placed onto an Xcode-generated view using Interface Builder. The view's File Owner is set to an Xcode-generated subclass of UIViewController. To this subclass I have added working implementations of numberOfSectionsInTableView: tableView:numberOfRowsInSection: and tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: and the Table View's dataSource and delegate are connected to this class via the File Owner in Interface Builder. The above configuration works with no problems. The issue occurs when I want to move this Table View's dataSource and delegate implementations out to a separate class, most likely because there are other controls on the View besides the Table View and I'd like to move the Table View-related code out to its own class. To accomplish this, I try the following: Create a new subclass of UITableViewController in Xcode Move the known-good implementations of numberOfSectionsInTableView: tableView:numberOfRowsInSection: and tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: to the new subclass Drag a Table View Controller to the top level of the existing XIB in InterfaceBuilder, delete the View/TableView that are automatically created for this Table View Controller, then set the Table View Controller's class to match the new subclass Remove the previously-working Table View's existing dataSource and delegate connections and connect them to the new Table View Controller When complete, I do not have a working Table View. I end up with one of three outcomes which can seemingly happen at random: When the Table View loads, I get a runtime error indicating I am sending tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: to an object which does not recognize it When the Table View loads, the project breaks into the debugger without error There is no error, but the Table View does not appear With some debugging and having created a basic project just to reproduce this issue, I am usually seeing the 3rd option above (no error but no visible table view). I added some NSLog calls and found that although numberOfSectionsInTableView and numberOfRowsInSection are both getting called, cellForRowAtIndexPath is not. I am convinced I'm missing something really simple and was hoping the answer may be obvious to someone with more experience than I have. If this doesn't turn out to be an easy answer I would be happy to update with some code or a sample project. Thanks for your time! Complete steps to reproduce: Create a new iPhone OS, View-Based Application in Xcode and call it TableTest Open TableTestViewController.xib in Interface Builder and drag a Table View onto the provided view surface. The main UIViewController subclass of the project needs an outlet pointing to the UITableViewController instance. To accomplish this, simply add the following to the primary view's header (TableTestViewController.h): #import "TableTestTableViewController.h" and IBOutlet TableTestTableViewController *myTableViewController; Then, in Interface Builder, connect the new outlet from File's Owner to Table Test Table View Controller in the main IB window. • IE GIF/PNG Transparency issue with jQuery

  Ok, this is pretty weird... Here's the page in question: http://s289116086.onlinehome.us/lawjournaltv/index.php The main blue callout background was originally a PNG, but when I applied some jQuery trickery to it (click the numbers in the top right to see what I mean), an ugly white border appeared where the transparency should be. See this screenshot from IE8: http://skitch.com/darkdriving/n62bu/windows-xp-professional I figured I could sacrifice the quality/flexibility of a PNG and just resaved each of the backgrounds as GIFs and set the matte color to white (for now). Well, I was proven wrong because IE is treating the GIF transparency the same as the original PNGs. I've read here that the issue with PNGs, Javascript, and IE has something to do with multiple filters can't be applied to one image, but shouldn't GIFs be exempt from this because they lack the Alpha Channel? Is there any way to make this page look similar in IE to Firefox or Webkit browsers? Thanks in advance!

• SQL Server 2008 SQLCLR Issue

  I have a SQLCLR that was originally running on SQL Server 2005 DB. I have since rebuilt the CLR to run on SQL Server 2008. The CLR requires a reference to WindowsBase.dll. I added WindowsBase.dll as an assembly to the SQL Server 2008 DB. When I try to use the rebuilt CLR I get the message Could not load file or assembly 'WindowsBase, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. Assembly in host store has a different signature than assembly in GAC. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131050) I tried to drop and recreate the WindowsBase assembly (making sure to use the dll from the GAC) but I still get the above error. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  It's crunch time, deadline for my most recent contract is coming in two days and almost everything is complete and working fine (knock on wood) except for one issue. In one of my stored procedures, I'm needing to return a result set as follows. group_id | name A101 | Craig A102 | Craig Z101 | Craig Z102 | Craig A101 | Jim A102 | Jim Z101 | Jim Z102 | Jim B101 | Andy B102 | Andy Z101 | Andy Z102 | Andy The names need to be sorted by the first character of the group id and also include the Z101/Z102 entries. By sorting strictly by the group id, I get a result set as follows: A101 | Craig A102 | Craig A101 | Jim A102 | Jim B101 | Andy B102 | Andy Z101 | Andy Z102 | Andy Z101 | Jim Z102 | Jim I really can't think of a solution that doesn't involve me making a cursor and bloating the stored procedure up more than it already is. • iPad Simulator WebView/Google Maps API Issue

  I've only recently updated XCode to 3.2.2 and started to play with the iPad simulator. I am having an issue with a WebView. I am using it to load a url with a Google Maps API implementation. The map loads and displays properly but when I try and click and drag on it to pan the map around instead of the map being panned the whole webview is scrolled vertically, revealing the dark grey background. When I release it it bounces back into place. Also when I hold the option key down to pinch the map it does not respond. If I load the map.google.com page the map pans just fine and is responsive, but not my one. No special code here, just the usual NSUrlRequest. It works fine in the iPhone simulator, but not the iPad simulator. User Interaction Enabled is also checked. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  I'm getting memory leak with UIImagePickerController class. Here's how I'm using it: UIImagePickerController *picker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.delegate = self; picker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; [picker release]; To remove the picker i call [picker dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; in didFinishPickingImage and imagePickerControllerDidCancel. -- Instruments show around 160bytes leaking as a result of this instruction: +[UIImagePickerController _loadPhotoLibraryIfNecessary] Apparently this issue has and is disturbing many people, and solution to avoid this problem is to build a singleton class dedicated for picking images from library or capturing using device's build in camera. Anyone want to add something?

• telerik nested grid issue

  1.Here I am having a grid within a parent grid and there is a link button within the nested grid. 2.For the link button I need to use the item command event of the nested grid or I can use the item command of parent grid as well. 3.The issue is when I click on the link button within nested grid then item command event doesn’t get fired for the nestedgrid.But in case of parent grid its working fine. 4.I have tried handlers and item created event also to use handlers in code behind or in aspx.But nothing helped in getting me item command event hit for the nested grid. 5.Previously in case of repeaters there was one item command which was handling all the grids. I have tried different item command event for child and parent but it also didn’t work.

• Android Image Orientation Issue on Motorola Droid

  Hi there, Our app uses the gallery pick action to grab an image from the device to upload to a new blog post. We're seeing on the Moto Droid that images taken in portrait are being sent back to the app in landscape orientation so the image is sideways. AFAIK this only occurs on the Droid. Found this via google, but we need the full size image to be uploaded in the correct orientation so the solution doesn't work for us: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_frm/thread/1246475fd4c3fdb6?pli=1 An easy way to reproduce this is to take a picture in portrait on the Droid, then send it to yourself via Gmail. In the email message, the image will be in landscape (sideways). I've tested on the droid 2.1 update and the issue is still there.
