  • WPF binding comboboxes to parent- child model

    - by PaulB
I've got a model with a few tiers in it - something along the lines of ... Company Employees Phone numbers So I've got a ListBox showing all the companys in the model. Each ListBoxItem then contains two comboboxes ... one for employees, one for phone numbers. I can successfully get the employee combo to bind correctly and show the right people, but I'd like the phone combo to show the numbers for the selected employee. I'm just setting the DataContext of the ListBox to the model above and using the following data template for each item <DataTemplate x:Key="CompanyBody"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Label Content="{Binding Path=CompanyName}"></Label> <ComboBox Name="EmployeesCombo" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Company.Employees}"></ComboBox> <!-- What goes here --> <ComboBox DataContext="???" ItemsSource="??" ></ComboBox> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> I've tried (naively) <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Company.Employees.PhoneNumbers}" ></ComboBox> and <ComboBox DataContext="EmployeesCombo.SelectedValue" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=PhoneNumbers}" ></ComboBox> and all other manner of combinations ...

  • Applied style in WPF ignores properties.

    - by Quenton Jones
Here's the conundrum. In two different places in my application, I use a border with the exact same appearance. In an never-ending fight against code bloat and unmanageable code, I want to define the border's appearance in a style to use when I create the border. Strangely, several of the properties I set are being ignored. Here's the code I use to create the style. Simple enough. Style borderStyle = new Style(typeof(Border)); borderStyle.Setters.Add(new Setter(Border.BorderBrushProperty, Brushes.Black)); borderStyle.Setters.Add(new Setter(Border.BorderThicknessProperty, new Thickness(4))); borderStyle.Setters.Add(new Setter(Border.OpacityProperty, 1.0)); return borderStyle; But when I set the style, the opacity property is left at its original value of 0.7. I have also tried setting the background of the border to a brush I created. It too is ignored. Thanks for any insights you may have.

  • Building IronRuby WPF GUIs

    - by Vlad
This may be a silly question but I was under the impression that it was possible to use IronRuby and MS Visual Studio 2010 together to sort of build interfaces\edit XAML in one window and code ruby in the other? Is this only possible to do with C#, Basic and C++ ? I've browsed SO and seen some IronRuby snippets like this one: button1.click do |sender, args| MessageBox.show("Hello World!") end So it stands to reason you can create GUIs somehow, but is the visual gui creator not available for ironruby?

  • Have a clickable button on top of a combobox in WPF

    - by Travyguy9
I can get a button to appear and be clickable in the drop down list of a combo box, but I cannot get the selected combo box item (the drop list is closed) to have the button be clickable. It always skips the button click and just opens the drop down list. I basically want the Button_Click event handler that I setup to be called once it is clicked. Here is my sample combo box that shows the button but is not clickable once it is in the selected item: <ComboBox x:Name="MyCombo" Width="200" Height="30" ItemsSource="{Binding ListCombo}"> <ComboBox.Resources> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:ComboItemClass}"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=SampleText}" Width="120" /> <Button Width="20" Content="..." Click="Button_Click"/> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ComboBox.Resources> </ComboBox>

  • Where should I store my App specific config files in WPF

    - by Akash Deshpande
Background : I have some Application Data. i.e. the Database, come important config files. This data is vital for the application to start else it is exited. Problem : Where should I store this data. i.e in which folder and where. Right Now (This is wrong) it is stored in a folder in Debug/App_Data. But is causing issues in git and when we publish the App the data is not found. So where can we store this folder ? Present Structure is "WpfApplication2\WpfApplication2\bin\Debug" These Files need to be present when the app is started. So they need to be a part of the app itself.

Thanks

  • WPF problem modify style of images in multiple Button Templates

    - by user556415
I'm trying to create a control panel for a video camera, the panel has buttons for up, down, left and right etc. Each camera function up, down, left and right is represented by three images (see code below) for the left side, middle and right side. The control panel is circular so the corner images kind of overlap (its complicated to explain this without a visual). When I click on up for example I have to hide the initial three images (leftside, middle and right side) and display another three images for left , middle and right that indicate that the button is pressed. I am achieving this by having a grid inside a button template. The problem I have is that for the corner images for the control there are really four images that represent this. For example for the top left corner the four images would be represent 1. Top not clicked. 2. Top Clicked and 3. Left Not clicked and 4. Left Clicked. My problem is if I need to make the images contained within the Top button have precedence when the top control is clicked or the images in the left button have precedence when the left button is clicked. So it's like I want to modify the left button's image visible property when the top button is clicked and vise versa. This is really difficult to explain so I apologize if it makes little sense but I can email the source code on request if anyone is interested in my predicament. <Grid> <Canvas> <!--<StackPanel>--> • WPF Converter to look up in generic list

    - by user310046

  • WPF: Can't get to original source from ExecutedRoutedEventArgs

    - by Ikhail
I have a problem getting to the original source of a command using ExecutedRoutedEventArgs. I'm creating a simple splitbutton, in which a menu will appear below a dedicated button, as another button is pressed. When I click a menuitem in the appearing menu a command is fired. This command is registered on the splitbutton. And the idea is to get to the menuitem beeing clicked, by using the ExecutedRoutedEventsArgs. Ok, now the problem. If I choose to have the popup menu shown by default (IsOpen="True") and I click one of the menuitems I can get to the originalsource (thus the menuitem) from the ExecutedRoutedEventArgs - no problem. However, if I first click the button to show the menu and THEN click on a menuitem, the originalsource of the command will be the button instead of the MenuItem! Here's the controltemplate for the splitbutton: <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type usc:SplitButton}"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Button Name="mybutton"> <StackPanel> <Popup usc:SplitButton.IsPopup="True" IsOpen="True" Name="myPopup" PlacementTarget="{Binding ElementName=mybutton}" StaysOpen="False" Placement="Bottom"> <Border BorderBrush="Beige" BorderThickness="1"> <Menu Width="120"> <MenuItem Header="item1" Command="usc:SplitButton.MenuItemClickCommand" /> <MenuItem Header="item2" /> <MenuItem Header="item3" /> </Menu> </Border> </Popup> <TextBlock Text="MySplitbutton" /> </StackPanel> </Button> <Button Content="OK" Command="usc:SplitButton.ShowMenuCommand" /> </StackPanel> </ControlTemplate> The OK button fires a ShowMenuCommand on the SplitButton, which sets the IsOpen property on the Popup to True. Any ideas why the OK button (after having activated the menu) is the OriginalSource when a menuitem is clicked? Thanks.

I am trying to clip a 4:3 image with a circle within a grid control. I need the circle clip to reveal the image from the middle in a perfect circle. See below. The circle should dynamically re-size with the image. I have tried Canvas.Clip and Ellipse+VisualBrush without achieving the correct behavior. Thanks!

  • How to change the overlapping order of TabItems in WPF TabControl

    - by sannoble
    I have created vertical TabItems with a Path object. The selected TabItem overlaps the unselected TabItems, this works fine. The overlapping is done by setting a negative margin in the TabItem Template. For the unselected TabItems right now a TabItem is overlapped by the TabItem below. For example in the picture Tab 4 overlaps Tab 3 and Tab 3 overlaps Tab 2. I would like to change the overlapping order for the unselected Tab Items, so that an unselected TabItem overlaps the TabItem below and is overlapped by the TabItem above, e.g. Tab 2 overlaps Tab 3 and Tab 3 overlaps Tab 4. I have tried to set the FlowDirection property of TabPanel, but this doesn't work. How can I achieve this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! Wrong overlapping of unselected TabItems: XAML-Code: <Style x:Key="styleMainNavTabControl" TargetType="{x:Type TabControl}"> <Setter Property="TabStripPlacement" Value="Left" /> <Setter Property="SnapsToDevicePixels" Value="true"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type TabControl}"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="200"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Border Grid.Column="0" Background="White" BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="0,0,1,0" Padding="20"> <ContentPresenter ContentSource="SelectedContent" /> </Border> <Border Grid.Column="1" Padding="0,30,10,0" Background="#F7F3F7"> <TabPanel Panel.ZIndex="1" Margin="-1,0,0,0" FlowDirection="RightToLeft" IsItemsHost="True" Background="Transparent"/> </Border> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> <Style x:Key="styleMainNavTabItem" TargetType="{x:Type TabItem}"> <Setter Property="MinHeight" Value="90" /> <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="14" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type TabItem}"> <Grid Margin="0,0,0,-35"> <Path Name="TabPath" Stroke="Black" StrokeThickness="1" Fill="LightGray" Data="M 0,0 a 10,10 0 0 0 10,10 h 150 a 20,20 0 0 1 20,20 v 60 a 20,20 0 0 1 -20,20 h -150 a 10,10 0 0 0 -10,10 z" /> <ContentPresenter ContentSource="Header" Margin="10,2,10,2" VerticalAlignment="Center" TextElement.Foreground="#FF000000"/> </Grid> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Panel.ZIndex" Value="100" /> <Setter TargetName="TabPath" Property="Fill" Value="White" /> <Setter TargetName="TabPath" Property="Data" Value="M 0,0 a 10,10 0 0 0 10,10 h 150 a 20,20 0 0 1 20,20 v 60 a 20,20 0 0 1 -20,20 h -150 a 10,10 0 0 0 -10,10" /> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="False"> <Setter Property="Panel.ZIndex" Value="90" /> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter>

  • WPF Databinding and Styling based on Data in an item in an IList

    - by Nate Bross
    I have a ListBox bound to a list of Items (for arguement, lets say its got a string and two dates Entered and Done). I would like to make the background color of items in the ListBox have a gray color if the Done DateTime is != DateTime.MinValue. Edit: Should I make a converter? and convert DateTime to a Brush based on the value of the DateTime? Is something like this my best option? or is there a simple Xaml snippet I could use? [ValueConversion(typeof(DateTime), typeof(Brush))] class MyConverter : IValueConverter { ... }

  • Updating the foreground of a label on window active property-WPF

    - by Deb
    I have a label which shows the name of the window. I want to update the colour of the label on the IsActive property of the window using styles and triggers so that all the labels inheriting this style should exhibit the same property. Please can anyone suggest me how? I tried like this: <Style TargetType="{x:Type Label}" x:Key="HeaderLabel"> <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding (Window.IsActive)}" Value="True"> <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="15"/> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold"/> <Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="Arial"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Black"/> <Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment" Value="Left"/> </DataTrigger> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding (Window.IsActive)}" Value="False"> <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="15"/> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold"/> <Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="Arial"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="White"/> <Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment" Value="Left"/> </DataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style>

  • Wpf Window resizes when computer is locked.

    - by Chris
I have a Window set to the height and width of my monitors: var r = System.Drawing.Rectangle.Union( System.Windows.Forms.Screen.AllScreens[0].Bounds, System.Windows.Forms.Screen.AllScreens[1].Bounds ); Height = r.Height; Width = r.Width; This is all fine until I Lock my computer (WIN+L), when I come back the window has resized itself to be on one monitor only. What I want to do is prevent the decrease in size, as I'm drawing on a canvas on the second monitor, and when the resize occurs, this is all lost.. Any thoughts on how I can prevent this? Cheers!
