    I'm trying to move away from mxml to actionsctipt. I have a <s:Rect> that I've created and set its properties, but having trouble adding it. var aRect:Rect = new Rect(); //set properties like aRect.x, aRect.y, aRect.width, aRect.height //tried adding it various ways addChild(aRect); Application.addChild(aRect); Application.application.addChild(aRect); stage.addChild(aRect); But I keep getting the error 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type spark.primitives:Rect to an unrelated type flash.display:DisplayObject Originally in the mxml, it was right inside <s:Application> not nested inside anything <s:Application> <s:Rect id="aRect" x="10" y="10" width="15%" height="15%"> //then fill code here, removed for readability </s:Rect> </s:Application> What's the deal, I thought actionscript would be nicer than mxml.

  • What are some best practices for structuring cherrypy apps?

    I'm writing a cherrypy app and I was wondering what the best way is for structuring my handlers and code for larger applications? I realize assignment is simple trough cherrypy.root, but what are some practices for writing the handlers and assigning them? (Allow me to prove my confusion!) My initial thought is to write a standard handler class that infers a template to run based on the current URL or class/method combination. Then I would assign one instance of that handler multiple times to the path to create pages. I don't see this working however as the recursive references wouldn't work quite right. So, given the fact that I'm already drawing blanks on how my own source code should look, I'd love some pointers and examples! Feel free to ask some detailed questions for me to clarify. While there is plenty of cherrypy tutorial material out there, it tends to only scratch the surface.

    i have a simple datagrid having 2 columns named as image and place. where image column has mx.controls.Image itemRenderer and place is simple. my requirement is to change itemRenderer of image cell when it will be clicked. i means to say when user click on any image from image column than i want to show that image path in editable mode and when user edit that path then the selected cell will start displayed the updated image. i dont know how to do this and getting depressed . please anyone help me ! :(

  • R plot- SGAM plot counts vs. time - how do I get dates on the x-axis?

    I'd like to plot this vs. time, with the actual dates (years actually, 1997,1998...2010). The dates are in a raw format, ala SAS, days since 1960 (hence as.date conversion). If I convert the dates using as.date to variable x, and do the GAM plot, I get an error. It works fine with the raw day numbers.     This might be an age old problem and I am sure everyone has their own ways. Suppose I have some properties defined such as secret.user.id=user secret.password=password website.url=http://stackoverflow.com Suppose I have 100 different classes and places where I need to use these properties. Which one is good (1) I create a Util class that will load all properties and serve them using a key constant Such as : Util is a singleton that loads all properties and keeps up on getInstance() call. Util myUtil = Util.getInstance(); String user = myUtil.getConfigByKey(Constants.SECRET_USER_ID); String password = myUtil.getConfigByKey(Constants.SECRET_PASSWORD); .. //getConfigByKey() - inturns invokes properties.get(..) doSomething(user, password) So wherever I need these properties, I can do steps above. (2) I create a meaningful Class to represent these properties; say, ApplicationConfig and provide getters to get specific properties. So above code may look like: ApplicationConfig config = ApplicationConfig.getInstance(); doSomething(config.getSecretUserId(), config.getPassword()); //ApplicationConfig would have instance variables that are initialized during // getInstance() after loading from properties file. Note: The properties file as such will have only minor changes in the future. My personal choice is (2) - let me hear some comments?

    Hi, I am trying to convert text into graphics using c#. My input is character string and output is bitmap with the input text. After lot of search I found some ways to do it, I found some techiques which uses this kind of techinque. For Example While creating Captcha, we have to print the character in the bitmap. But for that I should have the font installed in my windows. I can not perform such operation without installing the font. I have .ttf file with me but I dont want to install it because my work for that font is temporary only. Is there any way where I can extract out the Font's graphical information by providing the Character?     I'm writing all sorts of multi lingual text to .txt files using AIR's fileStream.writeUTFBytes() For english characters everything works perfectly. But as soon as there are chinese, arabic or any other non-english characters the sentences are totally messed up. For example: ???????????.... becomes ÂØpÁùħßÂèîÊëÑÂO±Â?àÁöÑÁ°ÆÊ=°Áà±.... How can this be fixed?

  • How to use AIR 2.0 NativeProcess API with Java?

    How do you use this great new API in connection with Java? Do you use just pure native process API like nativeProcess.standardInput.write() and nativeProcess.standardOutput.read() with which you cannot debug Java side neither invoke remote java method. Or you are using some library that leverages remote method invocation such as flerry lib but that also cannot debug Java side? Or maybe you are using Merapi with which you can debug but cannot remotely invoke Java method? I'm asking this because this is maybe the most important question regarding this API and its ease of use.

  • Help me stabilize this jRun configuration (CF9/Win2k3/IIS6)

    Not sure if this would be better suited for ServerFault, but since I am not an admin but a developer I figured I would try SO. We've been struggling to keep our multi-server configuration stable for quite some time now. At the end of last month we were running under CF 7.0.2 on a two servers setup (one instance each). At that point we managed to get our uptime to around 1 week per instance before they would restart by themselves. Since the beginning of the month we upgraded to CF 9 and we're back to square one with multi-restart a day. Our current configuration is 2 Win2k3 servers, running a cluster of 4 instances, 2 instances per server. At this point we are pretty certain this is due to improper JVM settings. We've been toying with them and while some are more stable than others we never quite got it right. From the default: java.args=-server -Xmx512m -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -XX:+UseParallelGC -Dcoldfusion.rootDir={application.home}/ To currently: java.args=-server -Xmx896m -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX:SurvivorRatio=8 -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:+UseParallelGC -Dcoldfusion.rootDir={application.home}/ -verbose:gc -Xloggc:c:/Jrun4/logs/gc/gcInstance1b.log We have determined that we do need more than the default 512MB simply by monitoring with FusionReactor, on average our amount of memory consumed is hovering in the mid 300MB and can go up to low 700MB under heavy load. Most of the crash will be logged in jrun4/bin/hs_err_pid*.log always an "Out of swap space" I've attached links to the hs_err and garbage collector log file from yesterday at the bottom of the post. The relevant part is (I think) this: Heap PSYoungGen total 89856K, used 19025K [0x55490000, 0x5b6f0000, 0x5b810000) eden space 79232K, 16% used [0x55490000,0x561a64c0,0x5a1f0000) from space 10624K, 52% used [0x5ac90000,0x5b20e2f8,0x5b6f0000) to space 10752K, 0% used [0x5a1f0000,0x5a1f0000,0x5ac70000) PSOldGen total 460416K, used 308422K [0x23810000, 0x3f9b0000, 0x55490000) object space 460416K, 66% used [0x23810000,0x36541bb8,0x3f9b0000) PSPermGen total 107520K, used 106079K [0x03810000, 0x0a110000, 0x23810000) object space 107520K, 98% used [0x03810000,0x09fa7e40,0x0a110000) From it, I gather that its the PSPermGen that is full (most logs will show the same before a crash), which is why we increased MaxPermSize but the total still show as 107520K!??! No one here is a jRun expert, so any help or even ideas on what to try next would be greatly appreciated!! I can receive the device lost message, however my SW will not be respond druing releasing all objects, if I call exit(0) directly, the SW will show a crash message.   • Flash: Adjust this code to keep the duplicated movie clip

    OK, so here is my code ham_mc.onPress=function(){ startDrag(this); } ham_mc.onRelease=ham_mc.onReleaseOutside=function(){ stopDrag(); _root.ham_mc.duplicateMovieClip("ham_mc" + "x",2); x++; } The user can at first drag the movie clip. When released, the duplicateMovieClip command runs, leaving a new ham movie clip in the position the first is dragged to. PROBLEM: When I click and drag the first ham movie click again, the duplicateMovieClip runs again but REPLACES the previous generated movie clip. I added x and x++ in an attempt to give the movie clip duplication a different name every time, but this doesn't solve it. How do I change this code so that a NEW ham_mc is created every time, rather than overwriting the old one. I'm tired, sorry for the poor explaination!

  • Item Renderer having trouble updating

    I have a list ItemRenderer that has 2 states. When it initializes, I set it to 1 state and listen for an event that switches it to state 2. protected function onCreationComplete(event:FlexEvent):void{ currentState = "state1"; addEventListener(CustomEvent.Event1, switch); } protected function switch(event:FlexEvent):void{ currentState = "state2"; } The difference between the 2 states is that I hide/show some labels. The problem is that it doesn't work. I still see the visual of the old state, even though if I Alert.show(currentState), it shows the correct state name. I've tried adding the line invalidateDisplayList(); inside the switch function but still no luck. protected function switch(event:FlexEvent):void{ currentState = "state2"; invalidateDisplayList(); } What am I doing wrong. Any ideas how I can get this ItemRenderer to really update?

If I just add an includeIn like this <s:SpriteVisualElement id="canv" includeIn="over" /> I get a run-time error TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. Any ideas what the problem is, or a different way I can accomplish the same thing. What I need is to simply include the circle in the button when it's in the hover state.

    I use a service application I created in Delphi. My problem is that it is sometimes terminated by the operating system and I don't know why this happens. When I go the the system events, I can find a piece of information like this one: Event ID: 7034, The [...] service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this [...] time(s). I know you can't give me an answer why this happens, but could you please give me a clue what to pay attention to to find the reason of that behaviour? For instance what kind of exceptions could make the OS close an application. Thank you in advance.
