  Anyone know how the underlying replication model in sql server works? Do they essentially depend on UTC datetime values to determine if something is new or do they keep a table of all the changes (like a table of tableID+rowid that have changed). I am building my own "replication" system and was planning on using the dates to know what to replicate. Then I started wondering what would happen if the date got off in the computer for some reason. The obvious choice is to keep a log of the changes as you go and once you replicate those changes, you remove from the log of changes. But thats a lot of extra work, instead of just checking dates. I figure if sql server replication works by just checking the dates, then that should be good enough for me. Any wisdom here? thanks

  I'm looking to achieve the following: For a specific person, for example BarackObama, I'd like to get the last 100 times/tweets he was mentioned. Not his own tweets but the tweets of others containing @BarackObama. In the end I'd like to have: the person who mentioned, location, datetime. This content should be written to a flat file. I've been experimenting with the Twitter API and Python, with success but haven't yet succeeded achieving the above problem. I know there is a dev sections on the twitter website but they don't provide any example of code!! https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1/get/statuses/mentions count=100 .... For me the scripting language or way of doing is not relevant it's the result. I just read on the internet that python and Twitter api are a good match. Thanks a lot in advance!!

• Convert date from access to SQL Server with SSIS

  Hi, I want to convert a database from access to SQL Server using SSIS. I cannot convert the date/time columns of the access db. SSIS says something like: conversion between DT_Date and DT_DBTIMESTAMP is not supported. (Its translated from my German version, might be different in English version). In Access I have Date/Time column, in SQL Server I have datetime. In the dataflow chart of the SSIS I have a OLE DB source for the access db, an sql server target and a data conversion. In the data conversion I convert the columns to date[DT_DATE]. They are connected like this: AccessDB -> conversion -> SQL DB What am I doing wrong? How can I convert the Access date columns to SQL Server date columns?

• Linq Query Giving Error

  I am getting this error when I use the Linq expression of var emp = _testModel.Where(m => m.Date == DateTime.Now).Select(m=>m); 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable' does not contain a definition for 'System' and no extension method 'System' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?). I have google'd and looked everywhere by I have no idea what it is talking about? It doesn't throw an exception. The only way I found out about this was stepping through the expression.

• Get last element of pipeline in powershell

  Hi, This might be weird, but stay with me. I want to get only the last element of a piped result to be assigned to a varaiable. I know how I would do this in "regular" code of course, but since this must be a one-liner. More specifically, I'm interested in getting the file extension when getting the result from an FTP request ListDirectoryDetails. Since this is done within a string expansion, I can't figure out the proper code. Currently I'm getting the last 3 hars, but that is real nasty. • How do you map a composite id to a composite user type with Fluent NHibernate?

  i'm working w/ a legacy database is set-up stupidly with an index composed of a char id column and two char columns which make up a date and time, respectively. I have created a icompositeusertype for the date and time columns to map to a single .NET DateTime property on my entity, which works by itself when not part of the id. i need to somehow use a composite id with key property mapping that includes my icompositeusertype for mapping to the two char date and time columns. Apparently w/ my version of Fluent NHibernate, CompositeIdentityPart doesn't have a CustomTypeIs() method, so i can't just do the following in my override: mapping.UseCompositeId() .WithKeyProperty(x => x.Id, CommonDatabaseFieldNames.Id) .WithKeyProperty(x => x.FileCreationDateTime) .CustomTypeIs<FileCreationDateTimeType>(); is something like this even possible w/ NHibernate let alone Fluent? I haven't been able to find anything on this.

  Hi! I need to calculate an end date based on todays date and a number of months. For example, todays date 04/01/2010 and the number of months is 6. Are there any functions I can use to do some math that would return "10/01/2010"? Also, I think it's important to note that I am storing the result in MySQL as a "DATETIME" so I guess I would have to do something with the time as well... ??? Thanks!

  I want to make a simple ASP.NET page that draws a months from a calendar and highlights given dates. (I'm not looking for a date picker.) What I have is a list of DateTime values and I need to display them a a nice way. Given that I'm a total beginner with ASP, simpler really is better. (I'd rather not, I'm willing to hack together something with StringBuilder and <table> if it's easier). p.s. I have no budget, so non-free controls will only be of use to other readers.

  I am trying to reproduce a SQL query using a LINQ to Entities query. The following SQL works fine, I just don't see how to do it in LINQ. I have tried for a few hours today but I'm just missing something.   I have created an archive table which will store data for selecting only. Daily there will be a program to transfer a batch of records into the archive table. There are several columns which are indexed; while others are not. I am concerned with time cost per batch insertion: - 1st batch insertion: N1 - 2nd batch insertion: N2 - 3rd batch insertion: N3 The question is: will N1, N2, and N3 roughly be the same, or N3 N2 N1? That is, will the time cost be a constant or incremental, with existence of several indexes? All indexes are non-clustered. • Getting a unix timestamp as a string in C++

  I'm using the function time() in order to get a timestamp in C++, but, after doing so, I need to convert it to a string. I can't use ctime, as I need the timestamp itself (in its 10 character format). Trouble is, I have no idea what form a time_t variable takes, so I don't know what I'm converting it from. cout handles it, so it must be a string of some description, but I have no idea what. If anyone could help me with this it'd be much appreciated, I'm completely stumped. Alternately, can you provide the output of ctime to a MySQL datetime field and have it interpreted correctly? I'd still appreciate an answer to the first part of my question for understanding's sake, but this would solve my problem.

• Saving a 'Date' using DataMapper on AppEngine+JRuby

  I have a a model as follows: class Total include DataMapper::Resource property :id, Serial property :amount, Float, :default => 0.00 property :day, Date belongs_to :calendar end I am trying to select a specific Total from the data-store. class Calendar include DataMapper::Resource property :id, Serial property :name, String has n, :totals def get_total_for(date) return Total.first(:day => date, :calendar => self) end end When I call get_total_for(DateTime.now) I receive the following error on the call to the data-store. java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: day: org.jruby.RubyObject is not a supported property type. Is Date not allowed for usage in AppEngine? Is this a DataMapper issue? I have tried changing the name of the :day property to something else (hoping it was just a name conflict) but it doesn't seem to matter. Thanks for any help you can provide.

• Counts of events grouped by date in python?

  This is no doubt another noobish question, but I'll ask it anyways: I have a data set of events with exact datetime in UTC. I'd like to create a line chart showing total number of events by day (date) in the specified date range. Right now I can retrieve the total data set for the needed date range, but then I need to go through it and count up for each date. The app is running on google app engine and is using python. What is the best way to create a new data set showing date and corresponding counts (including if there were no events on that date) that I can then use to pass this info to a django template? Data set for this example looks like this: class Event(db.Model): event_name = db.StringProperty() doe = db.DateTimeProperty() dlu = db.DateTimeProperty() user = db.UserProperty() Ideally, I want something with date and count for that date. • Does cache absolute expiration guarantee that the cache is eliminated at the exact time?

  I am using the HttpRuntime cache to store lists of objects and in our current project it was specified that the objects should be cached until midnight, so I am using DateTime.Today.AddHours(24) in order to set the absolute expiration date to midnight. For example, if today is May 26th, the absolute expiration time will be set to May 27th 0:00. But somehow, when I change the clock of my computer, the objects are still in cache. Should I wait a little (the CacheItemPriority is set to Normal)? Am I forgetting something? Thank you

• Better data-structure design

  Currently in my application I have a single table that is giving me a bit of trouble. The issue at hand is I have a value object that is mapped to this table. When the data is returned to me as an array of value objects, I have to then loop through this array and begin my recursion by matching the ParentID to parent ObjectID's. The column ParentID is either null (acts a parent) or it holds the value of an ObjectID. I know there has to be a better way to create this data structure so that I do not have to do recursive loops to match ParentID's with their ObjectID's. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. • very weird problem concerning date and time in silverlight + ria services

  Hello Friends i'm facing a very weird problem in sliverlight 4 + RIA Services, or maybe it's not weird and i'm just a newbie anyway i hope someone here can help, the problem is the following i've created a function on the server side inside the domain service this function is very simple and has a line in it that adds the server current date and time to the database (it's an HR application and employees should sign in and out thrue it each from it's own pc ) Emp.TimeOut = system.DateTime.now (C# syntax) the weird part is that for some users it always adds 3 hours to the current time(exp if he signes out at 5 it shows 8) and for others it works perfectly. the server and all the stations in the company have exactly the same time settings and the same time zone, and anyway my fucntion is on the server side so it should no be realted to the users time. any ideas why this is happening ? i've bin trying to find out why for days now but with no luck

  Hi all I am using sql server 2005 reporting service to generate report base on a database. There are two columns which are datetime type ColumnA and ColumnB. The report would display a KPI image on this report by comparing these two columns.Below is the expression for selecting image SWITCH(DateDiff("d",Fields!ColumnA.Value,Fields!ColumnB.Value)<0,"kpi_r", DateDiff("d",Fields!ColumnA.Value,Fields!ColumnB.Value)>0,"kpi_g", DateDiff("d",Fields!ColumnA.Value,Fields!ColumnB.Value)=0,"kpi_y") For most of the records, the image is correct. Only for one record, the result is very strange. For this record ColumnA=2010-04-23 08:00:00 ColumnB=2010-04-22 17:00:00 It would display kpi_r, it displayed kpi_y. • Getting .NET schema for a stored procedure result

  I have a couple of stored procedures in T-SQL where each stored procedure has a fixed schema for the result set. I need to map the result sets for each procedure to a POCO object and need the column name and type for each column in the result set. Is there a quick way of accessing the information? The best way I have found so far is accessing each stored procedure from .NET and writing my own extension method on a IDataReader/IDataRecord for dumping the information (column names and types) out. • Drupal node reference

  I am using two content types - test_parent & test_child In test_child there are two fields, both of type datetime And in test_parent there are two fields, week_no & 7 node references I am using node_save to save a new node. After saving a node of parent type, and then saving the node of child type, i want to update the node it into the parent type. I have completed creation of both nodes from code, and also i am able to update nid in parent type from code. The problem is, the change in db is getting reflected in db but not on drupal node view. Even if i edit the node from drupal, it's showing -none- selected in node reference. Please help.
