    MySQL cluster: Error after 1 data node is shutdown and started again. We have configured MySQL cluster(version 7.1) with 2 sql/data nodes. We are using table space instead of in-memory clustering. The setup was working fine. So to test the setup I shutdown one data node, updated a table and and again stated the stopped node. Its giving this error and not starting. Any ideas ? Forced node shutdown completed. Occured during startphase 5. Caused by error 2306: 'Pointer too large(Internal error, programming error or missing error message, please report a bug). Temporary error, restart node'.

    Hi folks, I am (was) using an install of Win7 on the C Disk Partition, I formatted the D Disk Parition, and now Win7 fails to bootup. I suspect the bootup config files were stored within the D Partition, despite the install residing on the C Partition. Any ideas on how I can fix this? :)

  • What do you use for a RAM disk on Windows Server?

    We currently use AR Soft RAM Disk on some Windows 2003 servers for storing short lived temporary files. Looking forward to a move to 64-bit Windows Server 2008 I'm wondering what options there are for a RAM disk since it appears AR Soft RAM Disk was discontinued in 2005. I'm not looking for any physical disk backing, just a pure RAM disk that appears like a normal drive to Windows. Does anyone have any experience with RAM disks on Windows Server 2008, especially for 64-bit?

    I did an dist-upgrade on Debian Wheezy yesterday and got an error with syslog-nc-core. I found that i should try to reinstall it and tried but it ended with an error that apache2 isnt configured. I purged it also and when i now try to reinstall i get the error Setting up apache2 (2.4.10-1) ...   • Disk IO causing high load on Xen/CentOS guest

    I'm having serious issues with a xen based server, this is on the guest partition. It's a paravirtualized CentOS 5.5. The following numbers are taken from top while copying a large file over the network. If i copy the file another time the speed decreases in relation to load average. So the second time it's half the speed of the first time. It needs some time to cool off after this.   • Do I dare clicking Delete Volume instead of Delete Partition?

    I have a VMWare machine with one VM. That VM has a virtual disk which in windows is configured with two partitions and then a lot of slack space, as illustrated here: http://piclair.com/q8g5s What I want to do is delete the partition of 639 GB. However, since it's a dynamic disk, the right menu item says "Delete Volume" instead of "Delete Partition" (when I right click the 639GB space). My question is weather I dare to use "Delete Volume". I have read doing stuff like this on a dynamic volume can cause other partitions/volumes to go corrupt.

    I've just fitted two disks to my home server. I'm trying to format and then raid them but I'm getting a problem that hours of Googling hasn't resolved this.   • Fedora 11 System - Failed Hard Drive Removed, and Boot gets GRUB Hard Disk Error

    Greetings, I have a machine with a 120GB ATA drive that has what I thought to be non-essential data on it. I also have a 320GB SATA hard drive with the OS/Application/Files (good data I want to keep). My 120GB ATA is failing I believe, as my computer kept slowing to a halt. However, when I move the drive from BIOS my computer will not start, says "GRUB Hard Disk Error". I know that my Fedora system has an LVM setup. I am looking to just remove the 120GB drive from "the mix", and just have one hard drive. How do I recover ? Thank you. I have access to a Linux Live CD right now and can make any changes.     I'm in a process of renewing/expanding my disk sets, but not quite sure what kind of disks to get, cache-wise. What difference does disk cache amount of 16/32/64MB do, in capacities of, say, 1/1.5/2TB SATA disks? The disks will be used in a webapp server and in a media workstation, with Linux's softraid in raid-1/raid-5 configurations. Note, that as both purposes are purely for a hobby, the pricetag for a dozen of disks is a big issue.

    I want to completely wipe all the data and both OSes (Ubuntu and Windows 7) from my hard drive. I tried DBAN but it gives me an error and does not run. I am looking for an alternative. After reading some articles online, I came to know that, using a Linux live CD, it can be done using either of following commands. a) sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda b) sudo shred -vfz -n 1 /dev/sda My questions are 1) Which option (a or b) is more secure (wipes everything) and faster? 2) Does either of the options damage the hard drive or anything? I want to use hard drive again i.e. installing Windows and Ubuntu again.

  • Windows 8 disk errors

    So yesterday, I forcibly restarted my Windows 8 PC. VMWare Workstation was having some trouble with the guest Linux Mint OS. It wasn't responding for some time, so I tried suspending it September 28th or perhaps even before. It wouldn't suspend -- I forgot what the window looked like, but all options in the power menu were disabled (i.e. "Shutdown," "Power Off," and options like that were all disabled). I eventually killed the VMWare application through Task Manager, though I was too lazy to hunt down the running virtual machine itself, and decided to kill it by just shutting down my PC entirely. The PC wouldn't shut down for quite some time after the monitor went blank, so I did a cold reset by holding the power button. I then powered it on again and Windows briefly gave me some message like "Search for KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR." Windows then started diagnosing some problems and gave me the message, "Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete." That was yesterday night, and I went to sleep without waiting for it to finish. This morning, it said that the repair failed, and that the log was at C:\windows\system32\LogFiles\srt\srtTrail.txt (as I remember it -- I don't have the exact path I wrote down right now). It gave me some other options to troubleshoot, such as resetting Windows (files and settings still intact, but programs not installed through the app store will be erased). That didn't work (no error message given, I was just told it didn't work). I tried rebooting in safe mode, the same diagnosis process begins, except that this time it doesn't bother with the automatic repairs again. So I tried using the command prompt to try to see if my files are at least still there. I was on the X drive, and I couldn't cd to the C drive. I couldn't find my folder under Users (of course?), and couldn't find the srt folder under LogFiles either. I am not sure what to try next. I have backed up everything, but to the cloud, so if absolutely necessary I can start off with a fresh copy of Windows and restore all my data, though it would be a hassle. Any thoughts on what might be wrong or what I can try? My computer was purchased just this June, so the hard drive should still be pretty new.

    I have an existing raid5 device which I created using mdadm on Linux. When I created the device I set the chunk size to 64 but I would like to test the performance of various sizes but I don't want to have to rebuild my entire system to do so. If it is not possible to do it live then is it possible to do this by booting with a rescue disk? Any advice on the steps how to do this, either live or with a rescue disk, will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello I've been told I HAVE TO have custom error bars for an assignment I have to hand in. Okay, I have a scatter graph with twelve points, and the error for each one is different. It's the same plus and minus, but different for each one. The twelve different error values are sitting nicely in a column. I have been told I can reference that column in "custom error bars" simply by indicating the range of values, like F2-F14. However, I get an error message every time. When I open Custom Error Bars, it is set up like this: ={} obviously waiting for a function. The error message says remove the equals sign. How should I enter the value range, please ?

  • GLSL compile error when accessing an array with compile-time constant index

    I have this shader that works well on my computer (using an ATI HD 5700). I have a loop iterating between two constant values, which is, afaik, acceptable in a glsl shader. I write stuff in two arrays in this loop. #define NB_POINT_LIGHT 2 ... varying vec3 vVertToLight[NB_POINT_LIGHT]; varying vec3 vVertToLightWS[NB_POINT_LIGHT]; ... void main() { ... for (int i = 0; i < NB_POINT_LIGHT; ++i) { if (bPointLightUse[i]) { vVertToLight[i] = ConvertToTangentSpace(ShPointLightData[i].Position - WorldPos.xyz); vVertToLightWS[i] = ShPointLightData[i].Position - WorldPos.xyz; } } ... } I tried my program on another computer equipped with an nVidia GTX 560 Ti, and it fails to compile my shader. I get the following errors (94 and 95 are the lines of the two affectations) when calling glLinkProgram: Vertex info ----------- 0(94) : error C5025: lvalue in assignment too complex 0(95) : error C5025: lvalue in assignment too complex I think my code is valid, I don't know if this comes from a compiler bug, a conversion of my shader to another format from the compiler (nvidia looks to convert it to CG), or if I just missed something. I already tried to remove the if (bPointLightUse[i]) statement and I still have the same error. However, if I just write this: vVertToLight[0] = ConvertToTangentSpace(ShPointLightData[0].Position - WorldPos.xyz); vVertToLightWS[0] = ShPointLightData[0].Position - WorldPos.xyz; vVertToLight[1] = ConvertToTangentSpace(ShPointLightData[1].Position - WorldPos.xyz); vVertToLightWS[1] = ShPointLightData[1].Position - WorldPos.xyz; Then I don't have the error anymore, but it's really unconvenient so I would prefer to keep something loop-based.   • Microsoft Test Manager error in displaying test steps caused by malware

    Sometimes the tool is blamed for errors which are not the fault of the tool – this is one such story.  It was however, not so easy to get to the bottom of it, so I hope sharing this story can help some others. One of our test developers started to get this message inside the test steps part of a test case in the MTM. saying “Could not load file or assembly ‘0 bytes from System, Version=4.0.0.0,……..” The same error came up inside Visual Studio when we opened a test case there. Then we noted a similar error on another piece of software – this error: A System.BadImageFormatException, and same message as above, but just for framework 2.0. We found this  description which pointed to a malware problem (See bottom of that post), that is a fake anti-spyware program called “Additional Guard”.  We checked the computer in question using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware tool.  It found and cleaned out 753 registry keys!!  After this cleanup operation the error was gone.  This is a great tool !  The “Additional Guard” program had been inadvertently installed, and then uninstalled afterwards, but the corrupted keys were of course not removed.  We also noted that this computer had full corporate virus scanning and malware protection, but still this nasty little thing still slipped through.   • Serve web application error messages from Http server [closed]

    I have nginx as a http server with tomcat as a backend (using proxy_pass). It works great but I want to define my own error pages (404, 500, etc.) and that they are served by nginx and not tomcat. For example I have the following resource: https://domain.com/resource which doesn't exist. If I [GET] that URL then I get a Not Found message from Tomcat and not from nginx. What I want is that every time Tomcat responds with a 404 (or any other error message) nginx sends itself a message to the user: some html file accessible by nginx. The way I have my nginx server configured is very easy, just: location / { proxy_pass http://localhost:8080/<webapp-name>/; } And I've configured port 8080, which is tomcat, as not accessible from outside this machine. I don't think that using different location directives in nginx configuration will work, because there are some resources that depend on the URL: https://domain.com/customer/<non-existent-customer-name>/[GET] Will always return 404 (or any other error message), while: https://domain.com/customer/<existent-customer>/[GET] Will return anything different from 404 (the customer exists). Is there any way of serving Tomcat (Application Server) error messages with Nginx (http Server)? To check the message sent by the proxy_pass directive and act upon it?
