  • jquery toggle, prevent clicking during toggle

    - by Stacey
    Given the following jquery code.. $('#toggle').toggle(function() { // perform something }, function() { // perform something else }); Is there any way to prevent the toggle from being fired again if someone clicks while it is performing the function? I referenced http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2489518/tell-jquery-to-ignore-clicks-during-an-animation-sequence and the technique did not work.

  • jQuery validation plugin dependencies

    - by Idsa
    Does jQuery validation plugin have some dependencies? For example, I saw blogposts that said delegate plugin should be used... but I don't see this plugin reference at any validation plugin example (for example, here: http://jquery.bassistance.de/validate/demo/milk/). The question arouse because validation plugin doesn't catch submit at my application.

  • Turn a number into star rating display using jQuery and CSS

    - by Max
    I have been looking at jquery plugin and was wondering how to adapt that plugin to turn a number (like 4.8618164) into a 4.8618164 stars filled out of 5. Basically interpreting a number <5 into stars filled in a 5-star rating system using jQuery/JS/CSS. Note that this would only display/show the stars rating from an already available number and not accept new ratings submissions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • jQuery - Image management

    - by kape123
    Is there a jQuery plug-in / JavaScript control that will allow me to display array of images, but with (at least) option to delete image on certain user action. Something like this: http://www.gmarwaha.com/jquery/jcarousellite/index.php but with dedicated delete button on every image. First extra option that I can think of is to rearrange order of images. If not... I guess I'll start extending mentioned jcarousellite myself....

  • jQuery Adding DOM Elements

    - by Aren B
    This may be a simple answer, but I'm trying to add a dom-created element (i.e. document.createElement(...)) to a jQuery Selector. jQuery has a great assortment of functions for adding html .html(htmlString) .append(htmlString) .prepend(htmlString) But what i want to do is add a dom OBJECT var myFancyDiv = document.createElement("div"); myFancyDiv.setAttribute("id", "FancyDiv"); // This is the theoretical function im looking for. $("#SomeOtherDiv").htmlDom(myFancyDiv);

  • Which is more Efficient HTML DOM or JQuery

    - by Quasar the space thing
    I am trying to add new Elements in an HTML page body by using document.createElement via Javascript, I am doing this with few if/else case and function callings. All is working fine. Recently I came to know that I can do this with JQuery, too. I have not done too much of coding yet so I was wondering which way is the best in terms of efficiency ? Using native DOM methods or using JQuery to add elements dynamically on the page?

  • WordPress jQuery Toggle based on category

    - by Cameron
    I have the following Nav: <li id="categories"> <ul> <li class="cat-item cat-item-8 current-cat"><a href="#">Link</a> <ul> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="cat-item cat-item-10"><a href="#">Link</a> <ul> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a> <ul> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li class="cat-item"><a href="#">Link</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> and the following JS: jQuery("#categories li.cat-item").each(function(){ var item = jQuery("<span>").addClass('plus'), that = jQuery(this); if ( that.has("ul").length ) { item.click(function(e){ var self = jQuery(this); self.text( self.text() === "+" ? "-" : "+" ) .parent().next().toggle(); e.preventDefault(); }).text('+'); that.find(".children").hide(); } that.children("a").prepend( item ); }); This builds a nice toggle menu for my categories. However what I want it to do is based on what category I am currently viewing show the corresponding menu to be opened when the user lands on the page. Thanks.

  • Using Jquery.Form Plugin + MultiFile to automatically upload a single file

    - by Alan Neal
    I wanted to find a way to upload a single file*, in the background, have it start automatically after file selection, and not require a flash uploader, so I am trying to use two great mechanisms (jQuery.Form and JQuery MultiFile) together. I haven't succeeded, but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm missing something fundamental. Just using MultiFile, I define the form as follows... <form id="photoForm" action="image.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> The file input button is defined as... <input id="photoButton" "name="sourceFile" class="photoButton max-1 accept-jpg" type="file"> And the Javascript is... $('#photoButton').MultiFile({ afterFileSelect: function(){ document.getElementById("photoForm").submit(); } }); This works perfectly. As soon as the user selects a single file, MultiFile submits the form to the server. If instead of using MultiFile, as shown above, let's say I include a Submit button along with the JQuery Form plugin defined as follows... var options = { success: respondToUpload }; $('#photoForm').ajaxForm(options); ... this also works perfectly. When the Submit button is clicked, the form is uploaded in the background. What I don't know how to do is get these two to work together. If I use Javascript to submit the form (as shown in the MultiFile example above), the form is submitted but the JQuery.Form function is not called, so the form does not get submitted in the background. I thought that maybe I needed to change the form registration as follows... $('#photoForm').submit(function() { $('#photoForm').ajaxForm(options); }); ...but that didn't solve the problem. The same is true when I tried .ajaxSubmit instead of .ajaxForm. What am I missing? BTW: I know it might sound strange to use MultiFile for single-file uploads, but the idea is that the number of files will be dynamic based on the user's account. So, I'm starting with one but the number changes depending on conditions.

  • basic delay on jquery .click function

    - by kalpaitch
    I have the most basic jquery function of them all, but I couldn't find a way in the documentation to trigger the contents of this click function after say 1500 milliseconds: $('.masonryRecall').click(function(){ $('#mainContent').masonry(); }); P.S. just noticed the .delay function jquery 1.4, although, I am using version 1.3. I don't know whether updating this would interfere with any of the other javascript I currently have.

  • jQuery/Javascript to replace broken images

    - by Dan Lord
    I have a web page that includes a bunch of images. Sometimes the image isn't available so a broken image is displayed in the clients browser. How do I use jQuery to get the set of images, filter it to broken images then replace the src? --I thought it would be easier to do this with Jquery, but It turned out much easier to just use a pure javascript solution. i.e the one provided by Prestaul

  • Registering a Named Function as a Listener with Jquery

    I'm new to javascript/jquery and I've done some poking around the web, but I can't figure out why the following is invalid: var toggleSection = function(sectionName) { // Do some Jquery work to toggle stuff based on sectionName string // (concatenate sectionName with other text to form selectors) }; $('#togglecont1').click(toggleSection("container1")); Is there something obvious I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

  • jQuery $.each(arr, foo) versus $(arr).each(foo)

    - by Brian M. Hunt
    In jQuery, what's the difference between the following two constructions of jQuery.each: // Given var arr = [1,2,3,4], results = [], foo = function (index, element) { /* something done to/with each element */ results.push(element * element); // arbitrary thing. } // construction #1 $.each(arr, foo); // results = [1,4,9,16] // construction #2 $(arr).each(foo); // results = [1,4,9,16] Is there any difference, or is it purely syntax?

  • Error in jquery attribute selector and IE6-7

    - by Guillermo Vasconcelos
    Hi, I'm trying to implement a JQuery script to process some areas inside an image map. I'm using $('area[shape="poly"]') as a selector to obtain the areas I'm interested in. It is working fine in IE8 and Firefox, but it is not selecting the elements in IE6 or IE7. This is a test page that shows this problem. I don't know if this is a JQuery bug or I am doing something wrong. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ $(document).ready(function() { var areas = $('area[shape="poly"]'); alert('areas: ' + areas.length); }); //]]> </script> <title>Test</title> </head> <body> <img id="img1" src="nothing.gif" style="width:300px; height:300px; border: 2px solid black" usemap="#map1"/> <map id="map1"> <area shape="rect" title="rectArea" coords="126,112,231,217" alt=""/> <area shape="poly" title="polyArea1" coords="274,72,262,70,251,68,240,67,228,66,217,67,206,68,194,70,183,72,181,63,192,60,204,58,216,57,228,56,240,57,252,58,264,60,276,63" alt=""/> <area shape="poly" title="polyArea2" coords="241,194,235,193,228,193,222,193,216,194,196,119,204,117,212,116,220,115,228,115,237,115,245,116,253,117,261,119" alt=""/> </map> </body> </html> This is showing 2 in IE8 and Firefox and 0 in IE6-7 Thanks, Guillermo
