• SQL to retrieve aggregated data with computed columns

  I have a table that looks like this for about ~30 students: StudentID Course* CourseStatus 1 Math Pass 1 English Fail 1 Science Pass 2 Math Fail 2 English Pass 2 Science Fail etc. *In my actual database the 'Course' column is a CourseID e.g. (1 = Math; 2 = English etc.) which references a 'CourseName' table. I amended the table above just to make it clear the nature of the problem. I want to write a query (stored procedure) in SQL that summarises performance for a given course and returns the following: EXEC usp_GetCourseSummary 'Math' Total Students Total Pass % Pass Total Fail % Fail 25 15 60 10 40 Have been scratching my head on this one for some time. Any ideas?

• what does "Net user administrator /active:yes" do to a computer?

  i just purchased a new laptop and had some issues with it... I called tech support and they had me run this command in cmd prompt by right clicking the cmd icon and selecting "run as administrator" with root C:\windows\system32: "Net user administrator /active:no" after it was determined that it didn't fix the issue we ran this code "Net user administrator /active:yes" i then rebooted..and was asked for my windows login for my user account "Rees" as usual.. however ALL my settings where gone (including my desktop files) as though it was the first time I booted up. WHAT in the world happened with this command?? I desperately NEED my user accounts and files back to how they were!! (running windows 7) Please help!

  Hi, We're experiencing a strange problem with Oracle RAC and McAfee anti-virus. As part of the installation of the Oracle RAC we disable anti virus as directed. We have had our RAC running fine, but when we came to re-enable the AV and reboot we got the BSOD. Abnormal Program Termination (BugCheck, STOP: 0x00000035 (0x8E984678, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS Following the standard process of raising this problem with Microsoft they identify the problem and also a fix. Microsoft talk about too many file filter drivers being present and pushing the DFS upper limit beyond the default size. Upping this value, as per msdn, has no impact. We're able to recover from this BSOD by disabling AV. We don't have the problem if we run the AV service manually whilst the system is up. However, if we make the service automatic we fail to boot. • Execution of "mvn sonar:sonar" with no external access

  Hello, I try to execute the mvn sonar:sonar command on a machine where Maven is configured to have no access to external repositories (in reality, this is not exactly the case, but it helps me to explain my problem). So currently, if I run this command, I get the following error: [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] The plugin 'org.codehaus.mojo:sonar-maven-plugin' does not exist or no valid version could be found I think it means that I have some incorrect metadata in my local repository, as I have a [local repo]\org\codehaus\mojo\sonar-maven-plugin\1.0-beta-1 directory (with the JAR inside, of course). Have you any idea why my command is failing? tech infos: Maven 2.2.1, Java 1.6, Sonar 2.1.2

• Batch View updates

  I want to load a bunch of view definitions into SQL Server 2005 & 2008. I am using IF/ELSE logic to dynamically building Create or Alter statements that I then EXEC. This works fine. However, unless I get the order of the statements correct, I get errors if a view is dependent on another view that would be created in a later statement. Is there a way to turn of the valiation of the SQL statements until after they have all been entered? It seems like the worst of both worlds. SQL Server does late binding and so it won't propogate changes to tables and views, but you can't create a view without all the pieces being in place.

  In SSMS 2008, I am trying to execute a stored procedure in a database on another server. The call looks something like the following: EXEC [RemoteServer].Database.Schema.StoredProcedureName @param1, @param2 The linked server is set up correctly, and has both RPC and RPC OUT set to true. Security on the linked server is set to Be made using the login's current security context. When I attempt to execute the stored procedure, I get the following error: Msg 18483, Level 14, State 1, Line 1 Could not connect to server 'RemoteServer' because '' is not defined as a remote login at the server. Verify that you have specified the correct login name. I am connected to the local server using Windows Authentication. Anyone know why I would be getting this error?

• Using Java to retrieve the CPU Usage for Window's Processes

  Hello all, I am looking for a Java solution to finding the CPU usage for a running process in Windows. After looking around the web, there seems to be little information on a solution in Java. Keep in mind, I am not looking to find the CPU usage for the JVM, but any process running in Windows at the time. I am able to retrieve the memory usage in Java by using the exec("tasklist.exe ... ") to retrieve and parse process information. Although there is an aggregate CPU cycle timer for each process, I do not see a CPU usage column. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if possible, I would like to stay away from C libraries; however, if there is no other alternative, a solution by that means would be appropriate. Thanks a lot, Steve

  I'm getting some weirdness with QtRuby when using a TableWidget. Am I doing something wrong over here, or can I chalk this up as a bug in QtRuby? I'm on fedora11, with the following packages installed: QtRuby-4.4.0-1.fc11.i586 ruby-1.8.6.369-1.fc11.i586 These crashes also happen when running the script on Windows.

As we are using Jaclplus component and we have purchased the Jaclplus component from Byos Tech , i have checked in the membership details.And we found that our Membership has been expired on 03/10/2010 . I have asked them but they had replied that it may not be a problem on membership. Please anyone share what can be the reason for the error.I am not able to open that file(jaclplus.class.php) since its a binary file.

  I'm trying to write a stored procedure that will read an Excel file into a temp table, then massage some of the data in that table, then insert selected rows from that table into a permanent table. So, it starts like this: SET @SQL = "select * into #mytemptable FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'Excel 8.0;Database="+@file+";HDR=YES', 'SELECT * FROM [Sheet1$]')" EXEC (@SQL) That much seems to work. However, if I then try something like this: Select * from #mytemptable I get an error: Invalid object name '#mytemptable' Why isn't #mytemptable recognized? Is there a way to have #mytemptable accessible to the rest of the stored procedure? Many thanks in advance!

  I'm using nose and coverage to generate coverage reports. I only have one package right now, ae, so I specify to only cover that: nosetests -w tests/unit --with-xunit --with-coverage --cover-package=ae And here are the results, which look good: Name Stmts Exec Cover Missing ---------------------------------------------- ae 1 1 100% ae.util 253 224 88% 39, 63-65, 284, 287, 362, 406 ---------------------------------------------- TOTAL 263 234 88% ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ran 68 tests in 5.292s However when I run coverage xml, coverage pulls in more packages than necessary, including python email and logging packages which have nothing to do with my code. If I run coverage xml ae, I get this error: No source for code: '/home/wraith/dev/projects/trimurti/src/ae': [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/home/wraith/dev/projects/trimurti/src/ae' Is there a way to generate the XML for just the ae package?

• Integrating Fedex and UPS into Rails Apps

  I'm working on integrating a shipping solution into a Rails ecommerce app. We're only going to use one shipping provider. So the question is: Fedex or UPS? I'm wondering what Rails developers think about the tech side of this question. What do you think about the APIs, ease of integration, focus on developer's needs between Fedex and UPS? I was leaning towards Fedex, but from looking at the developers resources sections of both sites, it seems that UPS might be more developer friendly. Also, I'm going to be using Shopify's active_shipping gem: http://github.com/Shopify/active_shipping And I also based my app off the Spree Ecommerce solution, but I don't think that's particularly relevant to the question. Spree wrote a wrapper to integrate active_shipping with the Spree system. I gave away all my points, so SO wont' let me post another link in this question. What is a process and an event loop more precisely? I read that QCoreApplication must exec() as early as possible in main() method, so that I wonder why it is different from main Thread. could you point as some efficient reference to processes and thread with Qt?   I am trying to execute a command from within my code, the command is "echo 125 /sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness" and I can run it without problems from adb shell I am using Runtime class to execute it : Runtime.getRuntime().exec("echo 125 > /sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness"); However I get a permissions error since I am not supposed to access the sys directory. I have also tried to place the command in a String[] just in case spaces caused a problem but it didn't make much differense. Does anyone know any workaround for this ?

  Situation: I am writing a program in C that maintains a number of threads. Once a thread ends, a new one is created. Each thread forks - the child runs a PHP process via exec() and the parent waits for it to finish. Each PHP process takes the next item from a queue, processes it and exits. Basic code: http://www.4pmp.com/2010/03/multitasking-php-in-parallel/ Problem: The PHP processes are Symfony tasks and Symfony requires a fairly huge amount of memory. How can I safely calculate the required stack space for each thread so that PHP processes will have enough memory? The memory limit set in php.ini is 128Mb so should I allocate this much space in the stack?

  Hi, I have a installation setup with works like this: /exec.exe /some-command This whole setup is located on a shared disk to which my target machine have access to. All i want is to create a small MSI wrapper that basically executes the above command. I don't need to any other fancy things? I looked up on the web; there are tools that create MSI for you but they generate huge amount of other things with them as well. My need is very simple and straight forward. • Programming an Event listener for files in a directory on Linux

  On Ubuntu linux, when you watch a flash video, it gets saved temporarily in the /tmp as flv files while the video buffers. I use vlc to directly play these files. Currently, I have scripted a shortcut that directly scans and opens the latest file in /tmp with vlc, when clicked. But, I want to program a Java application that will continually monitor this /tmp directory for any new flv files, and open it in vlc automatically. I know I can use Runtime.exec() to open the VLC application with the flv files. But, I DO NOT want to run a while(true) loop (with sleep) to scan for files. How can I make use of Event Handling (Java or any other language) on Linux to complete this task?

  Hi, I am trying to send database mail when error occurs inside the transaction.My setup for dbo.sp_send_dbmail is correct , when I execute the proc I do get an email within 1 min. However when I try to use dbo.sp_send_dbmail inside another proc within transactions than I do not get the email. Sql server does show in the result window that "Mail queued" but I never receive it.
