• Design a GUI browser to view a tree

  I have a large tree. I want to be able to visualize it using a GUI tool. I want the ability to pan and zoom the tree image so that i can focus on part of the tree. Is there an existing tool to achieve this? If not i would like to write a small tool for myself to be able to do this. what is the simplest way of doing this? what computer language should i use? the image should look something like http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/df/Binary_tree.png I should be able to zoom and pan the image.

• Cancel Leave Event when closing

  I have got a textbox on a form with a method being called from the txPredio_Leave event.   Hello, let me ask your opinion. I'm 25 now, living in Germany. I started with QBASIC, did some Java in Highschool, and after School I created some Websites in PHP. Now, because my Company is Microsoft Gold Partner, I've to use Microsoft all the time. C#, MSSQL, ASPX and Sharepoint <- I really hate it! So, in my spare I concentrate to gain more knowledge (C++, Java, Silverlight or WPF), because it feels that I'm so far behind, in comparison for example to you guys, or other older employees in my company. Do think that my behaviour is useful? Should I focus my time to become i.e. a pure C# Programmer? I did C# even before I started to learn some C++. Should I learn what do with pointers, memcpy and stuff like that, even if managed code brings us so much benefits? Or is it a waste of time, better invested in learning the latest technologies? rAyt

• Printing pdf without opening

  Hello there, I want to open a PDF-print dialog (not regular browser dialog) without visually opening the document so that I can print a pdf without having the header and footer information from a regular webpage print. I know this is possible, because I have seen it in the past on a postal service website for printing postage labels, but cannot remember where. As far as I know, printing it from an iframe doesnt work, as it only opens regular browser print dialog and gives me ugly page and url information: frames['name'].focus(); frames['name'].print(); Thank you for your time. • Ms Access Save record in subform

  I have a main form with a tab control containing multiple subforms. I need to be sure that the data in a subform is saved when the user switches tabs. The problem is that DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord seems only applies to the current form so it doesn't save the data in the subform. I have tried different events on the subform such as deactivate, OnLostFocus etc but they don't fire until another field somewhere else gets the focus. The ideal solution would seem to be to put something on the OnChange event of the tab control to be sure that all the data is saved. That is my question, how to do I save the record in a subform?

• javascript textbox call event when value changes

  I have a textbox, and whenever the value of the box changes, I want to check and see if 20 digits have been entered. I thought that I would use the onChange event, but this seems to be interpreted as the onBlur event on IE. So then I thought I would use onKeyDown, but the problem comes in if the user wants to paste a value into the field, then the function never gets called. There are no other form boxes so I can't rely on onBlur or expect that they will change focus ever. How do I do this? I just want to evaluate the value of the textbox everytime the value of the textbox changes. <input type="text" onKeyDown="myfunction()">

After that, I search about BDD (Behavior Driven Development) that focus on specification more than unit testing when compares with TDD (Test Driven Development). I found some framework that work with Ruby and Java. But I do not any famous framework for .NET. Please suggest me about BDD framework and summary PROs/CONs of it. PS.   Im working on a (Audio) DSP project and just wondering if there are any sample (Open source) DSP example that are written in c or c++, for my MSP430 Chip. • Procedural music generation?

  Anyone have good book / article recommendation for procedural generation of background music? (No vocals, just instruments). I'm not interested in: How do I generate the sound of a particular note on a particular instrument I'm interested in: How do I generate the melody / score for the music. Thanks! EDIT: Thanks for the reference to Brian Eno. I'm definitely looking into the ambient/user can ignore type of music. I.e. think the background music of a game. It's there to provide some basic mood, but the focus is the game.

  Hello everyone, I'm trying to perform a (CTRL-C) copy on a window. I've already managed to do this using SendInput but unfortunately that could fail if the window doesn't have focus. I'm trying to perform the same (CTRL-C) operation using SendMessage in C#. So far I haven't been successful in getting the WPARAM and LPARAM combination for this to work. I have also tried using SendMessage with the WM_COPY message but that didn't work for my needs. Please if anyone has done this before successfully using SendMessage I would greatly appreciate your help.

• writing a fast parser in python

  I've written a hands-on recursive pure python parser for a some file format (ARFF) we use in one lecture. Now running my exercise submission is awfully slow. Turns out by far the most time is spent in my parser. It's consuming a lot of CPU time, the HD is not the bottleneck. I wonder what performant ways are there to write a parser in python? I'd rather not rewrite it in C. I tried to use jython, but that decreased performance a lot! The files I parse are partially huge ( 150 MB) with very long lines. My current parser only needs a look-ahead of one character. I'd post the source here but I don't know if that's such a good idea. After all the submission deadline has not jet ended. But then, the focus in this exercise is not the parser. You can choose whatever language you want to use and there already is a parser for Java.

• Keyboard in HTML text-input disappear when WebView call 'loadUrl' again

  Hi there, I use WebView for my Androind App. I got a problem and request a solution for help. There is a textfield in the HTML page. When it gets 'focus' and then I call mWebView.setFocusableInTouchMode(true); in Java code so that the Android soft-keyboard will pop-up to let me key in. The problem is I need using multi-thread for some processes in Java and call mWebView.loadUrl(strJSCall); as callback to execute JavaScript function, but the keyboard gets hidden! The way I try is to force the keyboard to show again. But how can the keyboard always show when 'loadUrl' is called? Dose anyone meet the same issue and solve it already? Sincerely, Jr.

I can get it so the bg disappears while the field is focused, but then it returns once they move on to the next field.   i have this function where basically add and remove the disabled attribute form a input field: $(bla).click(function(){ if (something) { console.log($target.prev("input")) // gives out the right object $target.toggleClass("open").prev("input").attr("disabled", "disabled"); }else{ $target.toggleClass("open").prev("input").removeAttr("disabled"); //this works } }) the removeAttr works fine but when i need to add the disabled again it does just nothing. My console.log is triggering (and giving me back the right input field) so I'm sure my that my if statement works. But if i inspect the DOM with firebug the disabled attribute does not appear. can someone help me? PS: please don't focus on the function or the if statement itself, works fine its just that attr that dies not work for disabled...

  Flash overlay snags on underlying divs. What is the solution? I'm using Shadowbox to overlay a Flash file on my page, but the movement within the Flash file causes it to break or "shear" where the movie comes across the divs in the HTML hidden below. The screenshot shows it far better than I could explain ;) If you move the mouse, or tap the keyboard to "focus" the screen back on the Flash it all works seamlessly. • Any good books out there for advanced concepts like lambdas, delegates, events etc?

  I've read about these features but I don't think I've seen enough to consistently apply them in my coding, eg "This would be better done with a delegate than with my other, outdated approach". I know what they do, but I want more examples of use cases, or want some heuristic to help me think in terms of such features. All the books I've seen either focus only on the basics or just mention the features as part of the language. Is there any book out there that deals with this? Preferably C# or language agnostic.

  Apart from graphical estimation of linearity (gaze-at-scatterplot method), which is utilized before applying some technique from GLM family, there are several ways to do this estimation arithmetically (i.e. without graphs). Right now, I'll focus on Fisher's eta-squared - correlation ratio: arithmetically, it's equal to squared Pearson's r (coef. of determination: R2) if relationship between two variables is linear. Hence, you can compare values of eta and r and make an assessment about type of relation (linear or not). It provides an information about percent of variance in the dependent variable explained (linearly or not) by the independent variable. Therefore, you can apply it when linearity assumptions are not met. Simply stated: is there a routine for eta/eta-squared in R?

• What is the best method for implementing mouse wheel activity in Delphi VCL forms?

  As a long time user of Delphi 7, I've rolled my own mouse wheel handling in a few controls but lately I've noticed that some recent applications only need the mouse cursor to be placed over a control (e.g a list box or tree view) for the mouse wheel activity to cause that control to scroll. This feels nice (as opposed to having to click focus a control before it responds to the wheel. Now I've moved to Delphi 2010 I'm wondering what is the 'correct' behavior? And what can I use in Delphi that avoids me having to bodge this with my own solutions now? Thanks.

  I have a treeview with an editable CellRendererText: self.renderer = gtk.CellRendererText() self.renderer.set_property('editable', True) But now I need to launch the edition from code instead from user, this is to focus the user attention in the fact he just created a new row and needs to be named. I tried this but does not work: self.renderer.start_editing( gtk.gdk.Event(gtk.gdk.NOTHING), self.treeview, str(index), gtk.gdk.Rectangle(), gtk.gdk.Rectangle(), 0) Neither does not throw errors, but the documentation about for what is each argument is not clear, in fact I really don't know if start_editing method is for this.
