  • How can I erase the traces of Folder Redirection from the Default Domain Policy

    I've taken over from an IT outsourcer and have found a struggle now that we're starting a migration to windows 7. Someone decided that they would setup Folder redirection in the Default Domain Policy. I've since configured redirection in another policy at an OU level. No matter what I do, the windows 7 systems pick up the Default Domain Policy folder redirection settings only. I keep getting entries in the event log showing that the previously redirected folders "need to be redirected" with a status of 0x80000004. From what I can tell this just means that it's redirecting them locally. Is there a way I can wipe that section of the GPO clean so it's no longer there? I'm hesitant to try to reset the default domain policy to complete defaults. ***UPDATE 6-26 I found that the following condition occurred and was causing the grief here. I've already implemented the new policies for clients, and for some reason, XP was working great, 7 was refusing to process. The DDP was enforced. Because of this, and the fact that the folder redirection policies were set to redirect back to the local profile upon removal, it was forcing clients to pick up it's "redirect to local" settings. Requirements for to recreate the issue. -Create a new test OU and policy. -Create some folder redirection settings, set them to redirect to local upon removal -Remove settings on that GPO -Refresh your view of the GPO and check the settings. -You'll notice that the settings show "not configured" entries for folder redirection. -Enforce this GPO -Create another sub-OU -Create a GPO linked to this sub-ou and configure some folder redirection settings. -Watch as the enforced GPOs "not configured" setting overrides the policy you just defined. I've had to relink the DDP to all OU's that have "block inheritance" enabled, and disable the "enforced" option on the DDP as a workaround. I'd love to re-enable enforcement of the DDP, but until I can erase the traces of folder redirection settings from the DDP, I think I'm stuck.

  • Jeditable Datepicker onblur problem

    Hi, I am using inline editing using Jeditable and datepicker. I have a column in my table which displays Date as a hyperlink. When I click on this it shows me the datepicker. And when a particular date is selected its updated in the backend and the cell now is updated with the changed value. However, am having problem with onblur event while changing month or years. This event gets triggered when I click on "Prev" or "Next" buttons on the datepicker control. This causes an exception when the date is selected. This works fine as long as the date selected is in the current month. I tried all possible solutions listed here: stackoverflow.com/questions/2007205/jeditable-datepicker-causing-blur-when-changing-month If settimeout the control does not change back to a normal hyperlink on closing the datepicker or on a true onblur event.   • "Public" nested classes or not

    Suppose I have a class 'Application'. In order to be initialised it takes certain settings in the constructor. Let's also assume that the number of settings is so many that it's compelling to place them in a class of their own. Compare the following two implementations of this scenario. Implementation 1: class Application { Application(ApplicationSettings settings) { //Do initialisation here } } class ApplicationSettings { //Settings related methods and properties here } Implementation 2: class Application { Application(Application.Settings settings) { //Do initialisation here } class Settings { //Settings related methods and properties here } } To me, the second approach is very much preferable. It is more readable because it strongly emphasises the relation between the two classes. When I write code to instantiate Application class anywhere, the second approach is going to look prettier. Now just imagine the Settings class itself in turn had some similarly "related" class and that class in turn did so too. Go only three such levels and the class naming gets out out of hand in the 'non-nested' case. If you nest, however, things still stay elegant. Despite the above, I've read people saying on StackOverflow that nested classes are justified only if they're not visible to the outside world; that is if they are used only for the internal implementation of the containing class. The commonly cited objection is bloating the size of containing class's source file, but partial classes is the perfect solution for that problem. My question is, why are we wary of the "publicly exposed" use of nested classes? Are there any other arguments against such use?

  • OCS 2007 R2 User Properties Error Message

    When I attempted to configure one of our user’s Meeting settings using the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Administration Tool   I received an Validation failed – Validation failed with HRESULT = 0XC3EC7E02 dialog box error message. I received the same error message when I tried to configure the user’s Telephony and Other settings. Using ADSI Edit, I compared the settings of an user that I had no problems configuring and the user that I had problems configuring.  For the user I had problems configuring, I noticed a trailing space after the last phone number digit for the user’s msRTCSIP-Line attribute. After I removed the trailing space for the attribute and waited for Active Directory replication to complete, I was able to configure the user’s Meeting settings (and Telephony/Other settings) without any problems. If you get the error message, check your user’s msRTCSIP-xxxxx attributes in Active Directory using ADSI Edit for any trailing spaces, typos, or any other mistakes.

  • ubuntu 12.10 slow application load upon restart

    new ubuntu user. after boot (boot is quite fast), opening applications such as firefox, libra, system settings, takes close to 10 seconds to open. after the application is loaded in RAM, the application opens fine. the system feels snappy, quick. when i have two FIREFOX open, unity is snappy in showing me the two windows side by side. but upon bootup, loading the application takes 10 seconds. there is not much hdd activity. fresh install. its the same for system settings and browsing system settings. when system settings is opened for the first time (10 second), and i click for example Color, it will take quite long to open the color settings. hardware: i3 4gb ram radeon 5770 250gb sata gigabyte h55m motherboard i am using ubuntu straight out of the box, no propriety drivers. 64 bit. i have reinstalled OS, and still the same.

  • Exchange 2010 Internal Auto Discover Migrate away from current .local DNS name

    We have an Exchange 2010 Server, running within our Active Directory domain, with an internal hostname of server.example.local. The server is configured for Exchange anywhere, but currently has a self signed certificate with a name of server.example.local installed. Internally, clients connect and work fine, but externally, we are having certificate errors as you would expect. I'm about to purchase a UCC SSL Certificate to install on the server with all the relevant SANs on the certificate to correct this, but due to obvious problem obtaining a trusted cert with .local as a subject alternative name, I'm looking to configure clients on the internal network so that they don't use any reference to the .local hostname. I've configured our external DNS name for the server as exchange.example.com, and have created an CNAME for autodiscover.example.com which also (correctly) points to exchange.example.com. I've also configured internal DNS records for these two hostnames which point to the internal interface of the same server. I don't anticipate any problems here. I'm now trying to reconfigure Auto Discover internally, so that Outlook attempts to connect to exchange.example.com. I've followed the steps in KB940726 to prepare for this, and this appeared to work fine. No errors were generated and I was able to verify the CAS name in AD using ADSI edit. I've just tried testing this with a newly created test user account complete with a new Exchange mailbox, and Outlook 2007 connects fine on the internal network, but looking deeper in the Exchange profile, Outlook is still resolving the server name as server.example.local. Could it be the self signed cert, that is causing Outlook to display the server name as server.example.local, or is there still something wrong with my internal autodiscover configuration? Edit I've proven it isn't the certificate that is responsible for outlook returning server.example.local, by installing another self certified certificate with a name of test.example.com. When creating a new outlook profile, I get the mismatch error I'm expceting, but after accepting the cert, and finishing the config of the Outlook profile, again it still shows server.example.local as the server name. This means that if I were to purchase the UCC cert now, that external client would work fine, but internal clients would show a certificate name mismatch. Any ideas where to start diagnosing this?

However when we try to access the app config file in order to test the method we get an error saying - Can't retrieve the app config mail settings and says all values are null when they are not.     I am trying to automate some of the build process for my asp.net apps by creating the virtual directories it needs and setting all their settings in a batch file. So far I have been able to figure out how to create virtual directories, but how to do you configure them beyond that? For example I need to be able to set them as an application, set the default document, change framework version, turn on integrated authentication, etc. Does anyone know of any scripts that can do all this without a third party utility? Does the adsutil.vbs admin script do any of this?

    I have a Windows2k3/IIS6 server but at home i'm using Windows7/IIS7 pc. I just installed VS2010 and trying out the new Web form. After i setup a application in IIS7, I set the Application Pool to ASP.net v4.0 Classic thinking this is the correct setting to simulate IIS6 but when I browse to the website. I got HTTP Error 404.2 Not found but if i set the application pool settings to ASP.net v4.0 then everything run fine. Does anyone know how to simulate IIS6 with ASP.net 4 on Windows7/IIS7/ASP.net 4?

    When retrieving packages with Cabal, I frequently get errors with this message: user error (Codec.Compression.Zlib: premature end of compressed stream) It looks like Cabal is using my Windows Networking proxy settings (for Privoxy). From digging around Google, Cabal or its libraries appear to have (had) a problem in this area. Possible solutions I can see are: Turn off proxying while using Cabal (not very keen on this one); or Get a patch and start hacking. I'm hesitant to go down this path, as I'm a complete Haskell noob and I'm not yet comfortable with Darcs; or Give it the magic "can I haz no proxy" parameter. Hence the question.

    Hello, I'm looking for a way to (hopefully) create a text file which lists all the settings in IIS for.. Virtual Directories Web sites Which framework is used on a certain website/directory directory of hosted files etc. Basically I want to do some investigation on some of our servers to figure out where certain projects are located, without digging through right clicking and looking for the directory name manually, etc, for every domain we host. The reasoning is that I often need to find access to files/projects I haven't worked on before, but historically, we don't have a strong naming scheme, so you can't just look where something "logically" would be - so, generating a list would be very helpful. Something like this would be awesome, but I'm looking for any tips at all Domainname1.com framework: ASP.NET 1.1 directory: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\domainname1.com Applications hosted at this domain: etc, etc. Plain text, XLS, XML.. anything other than right clicking through the whole list!     There are a lot of settings that can be used in H2 database. AUTO_SERVER, MVCC, LOCK_MODE, FILE_LOCK and MULTI_THREADED. I wonder what combination works best for high concurrency setup e.g. one thread is doing INSERTs and another connection does some UPDATEs and SELECTs? I tried MVCC=TRUE;LOCK_MODE=3lFILE_LOCK=NO but whenever I do some UPDATEs in one connection, the other connection does not see it even though I commit it. By the way the connections are from different processes e.g. separate program.

    I know that in StructureMap I can read from my *.config files (or files referenced by them), when I want to pass specific arguments to an object's constructor. ForRequestedType<IConfiguration>() .TheDefault.Is.OfConcreteType<SqlServerConfiguration>() .WithCtorArg("db_server_address") .EqualToAppSetting("data.db_server_address") But what I would like to do is read from one config setting in debug mode and another in release mode. Sure I could surround the .EqualToAppSetting("data.db_server_address"), with #if DEBUG, but for some reason those statements make me cringe a little when I put them in. I'd like to know if there was some way to do this with the StructureMap library itself. So can I feed my objects different settings based on whether the project is built in debug or release mode?

  • Optimum php.ini and my.cnf settings for a small Drupal 7 site on a virtual server

    I looking for advice on how to set up the default configuration of php.ini and my.cnf for a small site (100 pages) with very little traffic (300 visitors per day). All pages have a bit of text, some images, no video, no audio, no flash/silverlight, very little javascript and jquery. For tracking I'm using GA and Piwik. The main site database is around 50MB. The site is hosted on a virtual server with 20GB RAM and 6 vCPUs so there's hopefully a lot of muscle to make it run very fast. I don't know much about tweaking php and mysql settings and would appreciate it if your answers can be as detailed as possible. Thanks

    I have a rockchip based Android tv box with heavily modified firmware. The box does not support 3g by default and I am trying to get the mobile data connection to work. I have understood that the Phone.apk and telephony provider apk has to be installed to /system/app. The logs report that the mobile data is enabled and the the phone service is running. However there is no mobile data in Settings and the Dialer app is not shown in launcher application list. What prevents them from showing up ?

  • Best memory settings for eclipse 4.2 (STS 3.1) on Windows 7 64 bit?

    I apoligize in advance if this question is indeed too subjective as SO warns me. My workstation has 8 gb of ram and runs windows 7 64 bit. I use the Spring tool Suite (3.1) but as soon as i am starting to open and modify the spring config (.xml) files, STS becomes incredibly slow. I already tried switching off "build automatically" and to increase memory settings but no luck.
