• Getting the errors for code in unopened .aspx pages

  Is there a way to check for errors in unopened *.ASPX pages. For example, if you change the name of a function Visual Studio will catch the error on the page and list it in the "Error List" only if the page is opened and being validated? I guess the question could be is there a validation option opposed to the compile option to check for errors? (Yes, i know code should go into the pre-compiled code-behind pages.) • Circular dock/menu in css or jquery

  Is it possible to have a circular menu or dock using css or jquery.? I have a set of images as the dock items that need to be displayed as a circular dock... however the number of items in the dock are not constant and may vary.... so i cannot tend to use constant values for positioning each item in a pre-defined manner. Ajax loads some images into this particular div and i need to use css or jquery to style this so that they get displayed as circular dock items. Any idea on how this can be implemented..? I would like a browser in-specific implementation, but i also welcome if some one has some solutions specific to few browsers... UPDATE I don't think i exactly want a pie menu... it easily gets messed up as the number of dock items increase. I am looking for a spiral dock. and by spiral i mean that the menu items must be in the following alignment..

So because the page's controls' events run between the page's load and prerender events, is it true that whatever the begin task handler (handler for BeginAsync below) produces, it can't be used in the controls' events? So for example, if the handler gets data from a database, the data can't be used in any of the controls' postback events? Would you bind data to a data control after prerender?   I am using jquery validation plugin to validate a registration form. Each text input field has instructions pre-filled as values in the input box ex: for a text-input box id='Name', the default value will be set to 'Enter Your Name'. • casting BSTR as char* in a dll; different results depnding on VB/C# caller.

  I have a dll function that takes BSTR parameters. These are casted as char* before being used for other things. When the dll is called from VB code this works fine. However, when it is called from C# code, only the first character is pointed to. Both of these are excel addIns for Pre-2007 and 2007+ versions of Office, which call into a faster C++ AddIn. They actually call it directly, not through Excel. The VB function declaration looks like this: Private Declare Function Test Lib "ExcelAddIn.xll" (ByVal param As String) As String The C# function declaration looks like this: [DllImport("ExcelAddIn.xll", CharSet=CharSet.Ansi)] [return:MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.BStr)] private static extern string Test([MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.BStr)] string param); When debugging the dll and watching the input BSTR values, they appear to be correct from both; just the C# one only casts the first character. Charset=CharSet.Unicode makes no difference. Any ideas anyone?

• Compiled ASP.NET application can be viewed locally only

  I have a development website running on my local machine, I can access it locally by typing the address http://mycomputer.mynetwork.local/myapp/default.aspx however when anybody else tries to browse to it they get an error: Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. I'm using IIS7, ASP.NET 3.5 and the application is pre-compiled. Any hints?

• Mysqli prepared insert statements always returning false

  I'm writing prepared statements that are supposed to insert data into a table, on a database that's been pre-selected in the variable $GLOBALS['mysqli']. The connection has been tested, and that's not the problem I'm having. I'm only running into trouble whenever my prepared statement involves INSERT INTO. I know the tablename, and field names are correct, but $stmt is ALWAYS false. • Is it possible to show the download progress of a flash file?

  I know how to setup a preloader and I have that working. But when I debug the flash application and simulate a download, it has a blank background until a few seconds have passed. I know it is "downloading" the swf file and I'm wondering if I can show a progress bar for that, or do I need to have the swf file as small as possible and pre load everything needed and have all assets as a separate file I fetch? I found something with ProgressEvent.PROGRESS but this only loads after the flash file is finished downloading.

  I would like some idea about a good workflow for Website Design, with a high degree of "offshoring" (Elance, Odesk etc.). I would to do as much as possible "pre production", with client input, ideas etc. stored in IA diagrams, wireframe mockups etc. in something like a Wiki. Also a like the idea about having different people come up with different design proposals. Wouldlike to have some ideas of costs of different phases and tasks ($, %, hours). With Design I mean roughly the aspects of a site that can be done with client-side tools, especially XHTML and CSS. What other tools should I use than IA diagrams.

• IPSec help on Windows 2003 please!!

  Hey guys, I am trying to configure IPSec between a web and app server in our environment. I want all traffic between these two servers to use IPsec and be encrypted. These servers are on the same domain so i am currently using Kerebos for security, I have also tried pre-defined keys and nothing changed. When I try and ping between the servers I get "Negotiating IP Security" everytime. I have also confirmed that when I change "Require Security" to "Permit" everything works so IPSec is working, I believe its something with my security setup. Under the security tab both servers have the default 3DES keys first and then DES keys. I have also specified tunnel endpoints (the alternate server's IP). What am I missing? Thanks for any help..

  I required to write a small web application that allow customer to select predefined layout template in html and be able to modify it. The application need to allow customer to add block text to pre defined area and images. The block texts need to be able to reorder based on customer need. eg. move up , move down or move to sidebar. THe complete layout will be able to convert to table layout and inline css due to email program doesn't like div & css. • How to count new lines in Internet Explorer?

  Hey, all. I'm doing my own syntax highlighter for Javascript and CSS, and I've run into an issue with Internet Explorer (big surprise). I grab all the contents of a code.block tag (example below) using innerHTML, and .split("\n") that result to get each line by itself. This works wonderfully except in IE. I have tried using innerText and .split("\r\n") also without success. Can anyone recommend a solution? • Drupal, Views, Exposed filter: custom default selected tags

  hi I'm using Drupal, Views with a exposed filter (using taxonomy). My customer wants to set from back-end the default selected tags (in order to pre-filter the views content). In the exposed filter settings, there is functionality. However, it doesn't work properly: when I click on "Select None" link (I'm using better_exposed_filter module) I expect none of the tags are selected, instead, the default configuration (default selected tags) are selected, so actually it doesn't work anymore. I hope it is clear. So, I was wondering if I can prepare a custom menu in which my user can check/uncheck the default selected tags in the view. thanks

My question is: 1.Should i receive the entire packet from PC using inside the UART interrut service routine (ISR)? In this case, i have to implement a state machine inside the ISR to assemble the packet (which can be lengthy with if-else or switch-case blocks). 2.Detect a REQUEST command (one byte)from the PC in my ISR set a flag, diable UART interrupt alone and form the packet in my while(1) loop by polling the UART?

One of the pre-requisite is obviously to color the current tab differently, so the user can know on which tab is currently is. • C - Discard the edges of an arbitrary level of a multidimensional array

  I have some geographical data, that I'm trying to parse into a usable format. The data is kept in NetCDF files, and is read out as a multidimensional array. My problem comes because the source of the geographical data has a strip of longitude on each side of the grid that overlaps the other side. That is, I have a longitude point of -1 degree, and another of 361 degrees. Unfortunately, I've got time, latitude, and sometimes height as dimensions in this array as well, and I have no way of predicting in advance where each dimension will be in the list (or if it's a three dimensional array, or a four dimensional array). Further complicating the problem, the array can be of floats, doubles or integers, so I have to pass it around as a void. Are there any NetCDF tools that I can use to pre-prepare the files? If not, how would you suggest I go about stripping the excess longitudes?

Right now they are all DataTables, which isn't very space efficient (the rule of thumb is 10x increase in size when data is strored in a dataset).   I was recently asked by a Team Leader (not mine) if I would be willing to undertake a programming project. The members of his team are currently pre-occupied with other more important projects. I graduated college two years ago, and up until now programming has only been a hobby of mine. Recently I decided that I would like to pursue a career in software development. I accepted his offer so that I can gain some real-world experience and start building a portfolio. In about an hour I'm scheduled to meet with the Team Leader to discuss the details of what he needs. From a short e-mail exchange with him, I know that the base project is to update an existing ASP.NET form—but I also think there's more to it than that. Considering that I'd like to eventually put this project in a portfolio, what kinds of notes should I take at the meeting?

• Spring & Hibernate SessionFactory - recovery from a down server

  So pre spring, we used version of HibernateUtil that cached the SessionFactory instance if a successful raw JDBC connection was made, and threw SQLException otherwise. This allowed us to recover from initial setup of the SessionFactory being "bad" due to authentication or server connection issues. We moved to Spring and wired things in a more or less classic way with the LocalSessionFactoryBean, the C3P0 datasource, and various dao classes which have the SessionFactory injected. Now, if the SQL server appears to not be up when the web app runs, the web app never recovers. All access to the dao methods blow up because a null sessionfactory gets injected. (once the sessionfactory is made properly, the connection pool mostly handles the up/down status of the sql server fine, so recovery is possible) Now, the dao methods are wired by default to be singletons, and we could change them to prototype. I don't think that will fix the matter though - I believe the LocalSessionFactoryBean is now "stuck" and caches the null reference (I haven't tested this yet, though, I'll shamefully admit). This has to be an issue that concerns people.
