  • Why Doesn't This Java Code Skip Lines with #?

    - by Nathan
    I'm trying to allow an external .txt file that is read by a Java script be able to have some comments in the beginning of the file so others can easily edit it and add more to it. But if the file contains # (the sign designated for a line that is a comment) it just returns the error that there is a "Format Error in file" (the IOException - so it is getting past that first "IF"...) Can someone help? Here's the portion of the code that deals with commenting lines out of the .txt file being called earlier in the script: while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { line = line.trim(); if (line.length() < 1 || line.charAt(0) == '#') { // ignore comments continue; } final String[] parts = line.split("="); if (parts.length != 2) { throw new IOException("Format error in file " + JLanguageTool.getDataBroker().getFromRulesDirAsUrl(getFileName()) + ", line: " + line); }

  • Get/save parameters to an expected JMock method call?

    - by Tayeb
    Hi, I want to test an "Adapter" object that when it receives an xml message, it digest it to a Message object, puts message ID + CorrelationID both with timestamps and forwards it to a Client object.=20 A message can be correlated to a previous one (e.g. m2.correlationID =3D m1.ID). I mock the Client, and check that Adapter successfully calls "client.forwardMessage(m)" twice with first message with null correlationID, and a second with a not-null correlationID. However, I would like to precisely test that the correlationIDs are set correctly, by grabing the IDs (e.g. m1.ID). But I couldn't find anyway to do so. There is a jira about adding the feature, but no one commented and it is unassigned. Is this really unimplemented? I read about the alternative of redesigning the Adapter to use an IdGenerator object, which I can stub, but I think there will be too many objects.=20 Don't you think it adds unnecessary complexity to split objects to a so fine granularity? Thanks, and I appreciate any comments :-) Tayeb

  • Dynamically sized panels

    - by codemnky
    I have a dynamically created tabpage for windows forms. the tabpage is split into two horizontal panels. The top panel should be able to hold up to 4 textboxes like this TextBox1 TextBox2 TextBox3 TextBox4 There WILL be atleast one TextBox. Maximum is 4. How do I create a TabPage with two panels where the top panel only takes up the real estate as needed(i.e only use up the real estate for one textbox or 2 textboxes, or 3 textboxes or the maximum 4 textboxes) and the rest of the tabpage is available for Panel2.

  • Javascript hasOwnProperty does not work under Google Chrome

    - by WebRookie
    I am currently working with some help and it has been going well, until this incident. function runCommand(commandString) { commands = new Object(); commands.clear = function(){ $('#terminal').html('') } parameters = commandString.split(" "); command = parameters.shift(); if( commands.hasOwnProperty(command)){ commandscommand; } else { $('#terminal').append(command+' command not recognized.'+''); } } The person who was helping me made this function, so I could run the "terminal-like" browsers that I needed to work on. It works fine when using Firefox, heres an example: guest@shell:/$ sudo make me sandwich sudo command not recognized. guest@shell:/$ clear *clears* guest@shell:/$ clear But under google chrome this happen: guest@shell:/$ sudo make me sandwich sudo command not recognized. guest@shell:/$ clear clear command not recognized. I believe that it has something to do with "commands.hasOwnProperty(command)" that is preventing it from working properly. I am using JQuery the javascript library to build the website, and I need to know how to solve this problem, or an alternative.

  • How do you find the balance between Javascript (jQuery) and code behind in ASP.NET.

    - by PieterG
    Stackoverflow members, How do you currently find the balance between javascript and code behind. I have recently come across some extremely bad (in my eyes) legacy code that lends itself to chaos (someHugeJavafile.js) which contains a lot of the logic used in many of the pages. Let's say for example that you have a Form that you need to complete. 1. Personal Details 2. Address Information 3. Little bit more about yourself You don't want to overload the person with all the fields at once, so you decide to split it up into steps. Do you create separate pages for Personal Details, Address Information and a Little bit more about yourself. Do you create controls for each and hide and show them on a postback or using some update panel? Do you use jQuery and do some checking to ensure that the person has completed the required fields for the step and show the new "section" by using .show()? How do you usually find the balance?

  • Java: calculate linenumber from charwise position according to the number of "\n"

    - by HH
    I know charwise positions of matches like 1 3 7 8. I need to know their corresponding line number. Example: file.txt Match: X Mathes: 1 3 7 8. Want: 1 2 4 4 $ cat file.txt X2 X 4 56XX [Added: does not notice many linewise matches, there is probably easier way to do it with stacks] $ java testt 1 2 4 $ cat testt.java import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class testt { public static String data ="X2\nX\n4\n56XX"; public static String[] ar = data.split("\n"); public static void main(String[] args){ HashSet<Integer> hs = new HashSet<Integer>(); Integer numb = 1; for(String s : ar){ if(s.contains("X")){ hs.add(numb); numb++; }else{ numb++; } } for (Integer i : hs){ System.out.println(i); } } }

  • How do I splice a python string programmatically?

    - by Robin Welch
    Very simple question, hopefully. So, in Python you can split up strings using indices as follows: >>> a="abcdefg" >>> print a[2:4] cd but how do you do this if the indices are based on variables? E.g. >>> j=2 >>> h=4 >>> print a[j,h] Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? TypeError: string indices must be integers

  • getting userbase vote average and individual user's vote in the same query?

    - by Andrew Heath
    Here goes: T1 [id] [desc] 1 lovely 2 ugly 3 slender T2 [id] [userid] [vote] 1 1 3 1 2 5 1 3 2 2 1 1 2 2 4 2 3 4 In one query (if possible) I'd like to return: T1.id, T1.desc, AVG(T2.vote), T2.vote (for user viewing the page) I can get the first 3 items with: SELECT T1.id, T1.desc, AVG(T2.vote) FROM T1 LEFT JOIN T2 ON T1.id=T2.id GROUP BY T1.id and I can get the first, second, and fourth items with: SELECT T1.id, T1.desc, T2.vote FROM T1 LEFT JOIN T2 ON T1.id=T2.id WHERE T2.userid='1' GROUP BY T1.id but I'm at a loss as to how to get all four items in one query. I tried inserting a select as the fourth term: SELECT T1.id, T1.desc, AVG(T2.vote), (SELECT T2.vote FROM T2 WHERE T2.userid='1') AS userVote etc etc but I get an error that the select returns more than one row... Help? My reason for wanting to do this in one query instead of two is that I want to be able to sort the data within MySQL rather than one it's been split into a number of arrays.

  • scons: overriding build options for one file

    - by Jason S
    Easy question but I don't know the answer. Let's say I have a scons build where my CCFLAGS includes -O1. I have one file needsOptimization.cpp where I would like to override the -O1 with -O2 instead. How could I do this in scons? update: this is what I ended up doing based on bialix's answer: in my SConscript file: Import('env'); env2 = env.Clone(); env2.Append(CCFLAGS=Split('-O2 --asm_listing')); sourceFiles = ['main.cpp','pwm3phase.cpp']; sourceFiles2 = ['serialencoder.cpp','uartTestObject.cpp']; objectFiles = []; objectFiles.append(env.Object(sourceFiles)); objectFiles.append(env2.Object(sourceFiles2)); ... previously this file was: Import('env'); sourceFiles = ['main.cpp','pwm3phase.cpp','serialencoder.cpp','uartTestObject.cpp']; objectFiles = env.Object(sourceFiles); ...

  • How Two Programs Can Talk To Each Other In Java?

    - by Arnon
    My first time here... I want to ?reduce? the CPU usage/ROM usage/RAM usage - in general ?speaking?, all system resources that my App use - how doesn't? :) For this reason i want to split the preferences window from the rest of the application, and let the preferences window to run as ?independent? program. The preferences program ?should? write to a Property file(not a problem at all) and to send a "update signal" to the main program - which mean, to call the update method(that i wrote) that found in the Main class. How can i call the update method in the Main program from the preferences program? Or in the other hand... There is a way to build preferences window that take system resources just when it's appear? Is this approach - of separating programs and let them talk to each other(somehow) - is a right approach for speeding up my programs? tnx

  • SQL Server Reporting Services Format Hours as Hours:Minutes

    - by Frank Schmitt
    I'm writing reports on SQL Server Reporting Server that have a number of hours grouped by, say, user, and a total calculated based on the sum of the values. Currently my query runs a stored proc that returns the hours as in HH:MM format, rather than decimal hours, as our users find that more intuitive. The problem occurs when I try and add up the column using an SSRS expression, because the SUM function isn't smart enough to handle adding up times in this format. Is there any way to: Display a time interval (in minutes or hours) in HH:MM format while having it calculated in decimal form? Or split up and calculate the total of the HH:MM text values to arrive at a total as an expression? I'd like to avoid having to write/run a second query just to get the total.

  • Giving Users an Option Between UDP & TCP?

    - by cam
    After studying TCP/UDP difference all week, I just can't decide which to use. I have to send a large amount of constant sensor data, while at the same time sending important data that can't be lost. This made a perfect split for me to use both, then I read a paper (http://www.isoc.org/INET97/proceedings/F3/F3_1.HTM) that says using both causes packet/performance loss in the other. Is there any issue presented if I allow the user to choose which protocol to use (if I program both server side) instead of choosing myself? Are there any disadvantages to this? The only other solution I came up with is to use UDP, and if there seems to be too great of loss of packets, switch to TCP (client-side).

  • sqlite3.OperationalError: database is locked - non-threaded application

    - by James C
    Hi, I have a Python application which throws the standard sqlite3.OperationalError: database is locked error. I have looked around the internet and could not find any solution which worked (please note that there is no multiprocesses/threading going on, and as you can see I have tried raising the timeout parameter). The sqlite file is stored on the local hard drive. The following function is one of many which accesses the sqlite database, and runs fine the first time it is called, but throws the above error the second time it is called (it is called as part of a for loop in another function): def update_index(filepath): path = get_setting('Local', 'web') stat = os.stat(filepath) modified = stat.st_mtime index_file = get_setting('Local', 'index') connection = sqlite3.connect(index_file, 30) cursor = connection.cursor() head, tail = os.path.split(filepath) cursor.execute('UPDATE hwlive SET date=? WHERE path=? AND name=?;', (modified, head, tail)) connection.commit() connection.close() Many thanks.

  • Git: Stage into Commit, what is the right workflow?

    - by Lukasz Lew
    I just created a big piece of code I want to commit in several separate commits. So I can stage relevant parts, commit, stage, commit, ... and so on until I have all my changes commited. The missing part is how can I test whether I split the commit correcty. I.e. whether the part that is in staging area at least compiles? To do that I must somehow bring my work tree to be in sync with index (staging area) without losing the changes to be committed later. What is the right way to do it? What is the quickest way to do it? Update: How to do it with magit?

  • MySQL : delete from table that is used in the where clause

    - by Eric
    I am writing a small script to synchronize 2 MySQL tables ( t1 to be 'mirrored' to t2 ) In a step I would like to delete rows inside t2 that has been delete in t1 with the same id. I tried this query : delete from t2 where t2.id in ( select t2.id left join t1 on (t1.id=t2.id) where t1.id is null ) But Mysql forbid me to use t2 in the same time in the delete and in the select (sound logical by the way) Of course, I can split the query into 2 queries : first select IDs, then delete rows with these IDs. My question : do you have a cleaner way to delete row from t2 that does not exist anymore in t1 ? with one query only ?

  • Java BufferedReader behavior in CSV vs TXT file

    - by Gabriel
    If i try to read a CSV file called csv_file.csv. The problem is that when i read lines with BufferedReader.readLine() it skips the first line with months. But when i rename the file to csv_file.txt it reads it allright and it's not skipping the first line. Is there an undocumented "feature" of BufferedReader that i'm not aware? Example of file: Months, SEP2010, OCT2010, NOV2010 col1, col2, col3, col4, col5 aaa,,sdf,"12,456",bla bla bla, xsaffadfafda and so on, and so on, "10,00", xxx, xxx The code: FileInputStream stream = new FileInputStream(UploadSupport.TEMPORARY_FILES_PATH+fileName); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(stream, "UTF-8")); String line = br.readLine(); String months[] = line.split(","); while ((line=br.readLine())!=null) { /*parse other lines*/ }
