• Postfix on IspCP cannot send to google apps mail if it is in the same domain

  In my vps setup I have ispcp omega 1.0.7 installed. Everything works fine except the fact that postfix cannot send to google apps mail when the domain of google apps is also registered in ispcp. Postfix sends an email to normal addresses (hotmail, yahoo, gmail etc). I use external dns. There is also a discussion I started in the ispcp forum here .mail.log file provides these messages: mail for exampledomain.gr loops back to myself". postfix/bounce: sender non-delivery notification. postfix/qmgr: removed Any help would be appreciated.

• Lists NotifyPropertyChanging

  Well BindingList and ObservableCollection work great to keep data updated and to notify when one of it's objects has changed. However, when notifying a property is about to change, I think these options are not very good. • Using dispatchertimer in combination with an asynchroneous call

  Hi. We have an issue in our Silverlight application which uses WCF and Entity Framework, where we need to trap the event whenever a user shuts down the application by closing the web page or the browser instead of closing the silverlight application. This is in order to verify if any changes have been made, in which case we would ask the user if he wants to save before leaving. We were able to accomplish the part which consists in trapping the closing of the web page: we wrote some code in the application object that have the web page call a method in the silverlight application object. The problem starts when in this method, we do an asynchroneous call to the Web Service to verify if changes have occured (IsDirty). We are using a DispatcherTimer to check for the return of the asynchroneous call. The problem is that the asynchroneous call never completes (in debug mode, it never ends up stepping into the _BfrServ_Customer_IsDirtyCompleted method), while it used to work fine before we added this new functionality. You will find belowthe code we are using. I am new to writing timers in combination with asynchroneous call so I may be doing something wrong but I cannot figure out what. • Remove ActiveRecord in Rails 3 (beta)

  Now that Rails 3 beta is out, I thought I'd have a look at rewriting an app I have just started work on in Rails 3 beta, both to get a feel for it and get a bit of a head-start. The app uses MongoDB and MongoMapper for all of its models nad therefore has no need for ActiveRecord. In the previous version, I am unloading activerecord in the following way: config.frameworks -= [ :active_record ] # inside environment.rb In the latest version this does not work - it just throws an error: /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/railties-3.0.0.beta/lib/rails/configuration.rb:126:in `frameworks': config.frameworks in no longer supported. See the generated config/boot.rb for steps on how to limit the frameworks that will be loaded (RuntimeError) from *snip* Of course, I have looked at the boot.rb as it suggested, but as far as I can see, there is no clue here as to how I might go about unloading AR. The reason I need to do this is because not only is it silly to be loading something I don't want, but it is complaining about its inability to make a DB connection even when I try to run a generator for a controller. This is because I've wiped database.yml and replaced it with connection details for MongoDB in order to use this gist for using database.yml for MongoDB connection details. Not sure why it needs to be able to initiate a DB connection at all just to generate a controller anyway.... Is anyone aware of the correct Rails 3 way of doing this?

• Webmin/ SpamAssassin doesn't appear to be 'learning' from forwarded examples of spam

  I have spamtrap@ and hamtrap@ addresses set up on my mail server and forward examples of spam to the spamtrap address. I was hoping that after a few examples, SpamAssassin would 'learn' to identify the particular characteristics of spammy mail with common attributes, but this doesn't appear to be the case - it still gets delivered as normal mail. For example, some emails from the same sender and/ or with the same subject line, despite being sent several times to spamtrap@, are just delivered normally. Does it sound like SpamAssassin isn't working or correctly configured, or have I misunderstood a fundamental aspect of how it works?

• Converting listview to a composite control

• Delay of mail delivery - Hosted exchange provider

  Hi, I recently signed up to a new hosted email provider. When I send mail (from OWA, OR Outlook) there is a delay of up to 3 minutes from when i send the message, to when it's received (in my gmail account for example) I've listed the headers below. Is there anything I can advise my new email host to do? My previous email host delivers within 5 seconds!! • rsync ssh not working in crontab after reboot

  I was using a script to perform rsync in sudo crontab. The script does a 2-way rsync (from serverA to serverB and reverse). the rsync uses ssh to connect between servers. After i reboot both the server machines, the rsync is not working in sudo crontab. I also setup a new cronjob and it fails, The error is: rsync error: unexplained error (code 255) at io.c(600) [sender=3.0.6] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [receiver] However, when run from terminal, the rync script works as expected without issues. please help. looks like issue with ssh. however, i am able to ssh into either servers withoiut issues.

• SoundManager2 has irregular latency

  I'm playing some notes at regular intervals. Each one is delayed by a random number of milliseconds, creating a jarring irregular effect. How do I fix it? Note: I'm OK with some latency, just as long as it's consistent. Answers of the type "implement your own small SoundManager2 replacement, optimized for timing-sensitive playback" are OK, if you know how to do that :) but I'm trying to avoid rewriting my whole app in flash for now. • Reverse DNS does not match SMTP banner vs Reverse DNS mismatch

  I have to make decision whether my Reverse DNS should match SMTP banner but Reverse DNS to DNS and vice versa stays different or vice versa. Which one to choose? I have an 2x Exchange 2010 server with one SMTP Sender with TMG 2010. TMG has 2 links connected so that we have 2 separate internet providers. The problem is I have no way to control TMG behavior on which link is used to send emails as it picks it randomly. I have 2 MX records: - mail.test.com which resolves to IP and IP resolves to mail.test.com - mail2.test.com which resolves to IP2 and IP2 resolves to mail.test.com This was done to prevent smtp banner issues but it provides problems with Reverse DNS if the server on the other side is eager enough to do comparison. But I've checked with Google and they also don't have that in perfect condition.

• Postfix Stagger/Rate Limit Outbound Mail

  We have a server that sends our weekly newsletter to subscribers, To prevent people like Hotmail or Yahoo from blocking us due to sending too many simultaneous emails to them, Is there a way we can stagger email, or rate-limit outbound emails from postfix? Keep in mind, I dont want the mailserver to stop queueing mail or accepting new messages, Simply defer delivery if there are more then 3-4 messages per destination domain/ipaddress, or something similar. Note: I dont want a Sender Throttle, as described in a similar question, here. I'm looking more for a recipient throttle but haven't had any luck finding out how to do so with PolicyD or Anvil services, and was wondering if anyone else has accomplished such a task.

  I'm trying to create a form that will send an email with an attached image and am running into some problems. The form I am creating is rather large so I have created a small test form for the purpose of this question. The email will send and the attachment will exist on the email, but the image is corrupt or something as it is not viewable. Also.. I do not want to save the image to the filesystem. You may think it is convoluted to take the image file from the fileupload to a stream, but this is due to the fact that the real form I am working on will allow multiple files to be added through a single fileupload and will be saved in session, thus the images will not be coming from the fileupload control directly on submit. • Forcing the from address when postfix relays over smtp

  I'm trying to get email reports from our AWS EC2 instances. We're using Exchange Online (part of Microsoft Online Services). I've setup a user account specifically for SMTP relaying, and I've setup Postfix to meet all the requirements to relay messages through this server. However, Exchange Online's SMTP server will reject messages unless the From address exactly matches the authentication address (the error message is 550 5.7.1 Client does not have permissions to send as this sender). With careful configuration, I can setup my services to send as this user. But I'm not a huge fan of being careful - I'd rather have postfix force the issue. Is there a way to do this?

• FindByIdentity in System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagment Memory Issues

  I'm working on an active directory managament application. In addition to the typical Create A New User, Enable/Disable an account, reset my password etc. it also managages application permissions for all of the clients web applications. Application management is handled by thousands of AD groups such as which are built from 3 letter codes for the application, section and site, there are also hundreds of AD groups which determine which applications and locations a coordinator can grant rights to. All of these groups in turn belong to other groups so I typically filter the groups list with the MemberOf property to find the groups that a user directly belongs to (or everyone has rights to do everything). I've made extensive use of the System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagment namespace using the FindByIdentity method in 31 places throughout the application. This method calls a private method FindPrincipalByIdentRefHelper on the internal ADStoreCtx class. A SearchResultCollection is created but not disposed so eventually typically once or twice a day the web server runs out of memory and all of the applications on the web server stop responsing until iis is reset because the resources used by the com objects aren't ever relased. There are places where I fall back to the underlying directory objects, but there are lot of places where I'm using the properties on the Principal - it's a vast improvement over using the esoteric ad property names in the .Net 2.0 Directory services code. I've contacted microsoft about the problem and it's been fixed in .Net 4.0 but they don't currently have plans to fix it in 3.5 unless there is intrest in the community about it. I only found information about it in a couple of places the MDSN documentation in the community content state's there is a memory leak at the bottom (guess I should have read that before using the the method) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb345628.aspx And the class in question is internal and doesn't expose SearchResultsCollection outside the offending method so I can't get at the results to dispose them or inherit from the class and override the method. So my questions are Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so were you able to work around it? Do I have any option besides rewriting the application not using any of the .Net 3.5 active directory code? Thanks

• Re-deploy Reports from SCOM 2007 R2 Management Packs

  I've migrated Reporting Services on a SCOM 2007 R2 install, and noticed that the reports have not being copied. I can create a new report, but the ones I've had because of the management packs are gone. I've tried re-applying the Management Packs however it doesn't re-deploy them and when I try to access for example: Monitoring - Microsoft Windows Print Server - Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003 Print Services - State View - select any item and click Alerts on the right menu. • View Generated Source (After AJAX/JavaScript) in C#

  Is there a way to view the generated source of a web page (the code after all AJAX calls and JavaScript DOM manipulations have taken place) from a C# application without opening up a browser from the code? Viewing the initial page using a WebRequest or WebClient object works ok, but if the page makes extensive use of JavaScript to alter the DOM on page load, then these don't provide an accurate picture of the page. I have tried using Selenium and Watin UI testing frameworks and they work perfectly, supplying the generated source as it appears after all JavaScript manipulations are completed. Unfortunately, they do this by opening up an actual web browser, which is very slow. I've implemented a selenium server which offloads this work to another machine, but there is still a substantial delay. Is there a .Net library that will load and parse a page (like a browser) and spit out the generated code? Clearly, Google and Yahoo aren't opening up browsers for every page they want to spider (of course they may have more resources than me...). Is there such a library or am I out of luck unless I'm willing to dissect the source code of an open source browser? SOLUTION Well, thank you everyone for you're help. I have a working solution that is about 10X faster then Selenium. Woo! Thanks to this old article from beansoftware I was able to use the System.Windows.Forms.WebBrwoswer control to download the page and parse it, then give em the generated source. Even though the control is in Windows.Forms, you can still run it from Asp.Net (which is what I'm doing), just remember to add System.Window.Forms to your project references. There are two notable things about the code. First, the WebBrowser control is called in a new thread. This is because it must run on a single threaded apartment. Second, the GeneratedSource variable is set in two places. This is not due to an intelligent design decision :) I'm still working on it and will update this answer when I'm done. wb_DocumentCompleted() is called multiple times. First when the initial HTML is downloaded, then again when the first round of JavaScript completes. Unfortunately, the site I'm scraping has 3 different loading stages. 1) Load initial HTML 2) Do first round of JavaScript DOM manipulation 3) pause for half a second then do a second round of JS DOM manipulation. For some reason, the second round isn't cause by the wb_DocumentCompleted() function, but it is always caught when wb.ReadyState == Complete. So why not remove it from wb_DocumentCompleted()? I'm still not sure why it isn't caught there and that's where the beadsoftware article recommended putting it. I'm going to keep looking into it. I just wanted to publish this code so anyone who's interested can use it.   I'm in middle of rewriting my assembler. While at it I'm curious about implementing disassembly as well. I want to make it simple and compact, and there's concepts I can exploit while doing so. It is possible to determine rest of the x86 instruction encoding from opcode (maybe prefix bytes are required too, a bit). I know many people have written tables for doing it. I'm not interested about mnemonics but instruction encoding, because it is an actual hard problem there. For each opcode number I need to know: does this instruction contain modrm? how many immediate fields does this instruction have? what encoding does an immediate use? is the immediate in field an instruction pointer -relative address? what kind of registers does the modrm use for operand and register fields? sandpile.org has somewhat quite much what I'd need, but it's in format that isn't easy to parse. Before I start writing and validating those tables myself, I decided to write this question. Do you know about this kind of tables existing somewhere? In a form that doesn't require too much effort to parse.

• How is the MTU is 65535 in UDP but ethernet does not allow frame size more than 1500 bytes

  I am using a fast ethernet of 100 Mbps, whose frame size is less than 1500 bytes (1472 bytes for payload as per my textbook). In that, I was able to send and receive a UDP packet of message size 65507 bytes, which means the packet size was 65507 + 20 (IP Header) + 8 (UDP Header) = 65535. If the frame's payload size itself is maximum of 1472 bytes (as per my textbook), how can the packet size of IP be greater than that which here is 65535? I used sender code as char buffer[100000]; for (int i = 1; i < 100000; i++) { int len = send (socket_id, buffer, i); printf("%d\n", len); } Receiver code as while (len = recv (socket_id, buffer, 100000)) { printf("%d\n". len); } I observed that send returns -1 on i > 65507 and recv prints or receives a packet of maximum of length 65507.

• Email Deliverability on Yahoo is very poor. Any suggestions please?

  All other ISPs (Google, AOL, Hotmail) are fantastic, hitting 98-100% in the inbox. Yahoo is very random, and lately our deliverability has dropped drastically. All IPs are senders certified by Return Path and supposedly that automatically whitelists our IPs and allows us to send as many emails as we want (from what my boss says). Do I bother with applying to Yahoo's bulk sender form? I run every email campaign through: SpamAssassin (Excellent Scores) Test Accounts (for test deliverability) Old school HTML format I'm running out of ideas and I'm starting to be in the hot seat and I am very fearful for my job position. If you can offer any wise words i will be very grateful. Thank you in advance.

• Windows Server 2008, IIS7 and Windows Authentication

  We currently have a development server set up which we are trying to test some Windows authentication ASP.NET code on. We have turned on Windows Authentication in IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 R2 fine, and it asks the user for a username and password as excepted, but the problem is it doesn't appear to accept any credentials. This code for example... Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Page.Title = "Home page for " + User.Identity.Name End Sub ...always returns an empty string. One theory we have is that we dont have Active Directory installed as of yet, we are just testing this by logging on via the machine name not a domain. Is this type of authentication only applicatable to domains (if so we can probably install Active Directory and some test accounts) - or is it possible to get the user identity when logging in using the machine name? Ideally we would like to be able to test this on our local machines (Windows 7 Pro) using our own accounts (again these aren't on a domain) and IIS but this has the same issue as our dev server. • Cocoa nextEventMatchingMask not receiving NSMouseMoved event

  Hello, I created a local event loop and showed up a borderless window (derived from NSPanel), I found in the event loop there's no NSMouseMoved event received, although I can receive Mouse button down/up events. What should I do to get the NSMouseMoved events? I found making the float window as key window can receive the NSMouseMoved events, but I don't want to change key window. And it appears this is possible, because I found after clicking the test App Icon in System Dock Bar, I can receive the mousemoved events, and the key window/mainwindow are unchanged. Here's the my test code: (Create a Cocoa App project names FloatWindowTest, and put a button to link it with the onClick: IBAction). • Stack and Hash joint

  I'm trying to write a data structure which is a combination of Stack and HashSet with fast push/pop/membership (I'm looking for constant time operations). Think of Python's OrderedDict. I tried a few things and I came up with the following code: HashInt and SetInt. I need to add some documentation to the source, but basically I use a hash with linear probing to store indices in a vector of the keys. Since linear probing always puts the last element at the end of a continuous range of already filled cells, pop() can be implemented very easy without a sophisticated remove operation. I have the following problems: the data structure consumes a lot of memory (some improvement is obvious: stackKeys is larger than needed). some operations are slower than if I have used fastutil (eg: pop(), even push() in some scenarios). I tried rewriting the classes using fastutil and trove4j, but the overall speed of my application halved. What performance improvements would you suggest for my code? What open-source library/code do you know that I can try?
