  Hello, for a publicly accessible terminal server I have created a user profile which only allows running of a few programs (demonstration of applications). This results in many people connecting to the same user name on the server, essentially sharing the same profile. How can I copy the original, empty profile on every logon to a seperate directory and delete it afterwards, so everybody starts with a clean copy of the "Guest"-Account?

  On a server running Debian Wheezy and Samba ver 3 with a tdb backend, how do I restrict a single user from changing the password? This account is one of 2 generic accounts, one for students and one for Teachers on Call (TOC). The users are created, but I'm not deploying the server yet. When looking through Google, I came across setting the maximum password age, but not setting the minumum password age (I'd be happy with a 5 year password...)

  Hi all, I'm trying to create a view to limit the options available to a user for a CCK NodeReference field. I want to pass the current user's ID as an argument to the view that selects the options for the CCK NodeReference field. Basically when the user creates a new item, I only want them to be able to reference a node which they created (not someone else's node). I've got a view set up that accepts a user ID as an argument, but how do I pass the current user's ID to the view from the CCK NodeReference field? Thanks in advance!!!

User's shell/ftp account is username/username. We want the user to be able to have full access to all files, including those created by the web server 'www' from the shell or ftp.   Gitosis is able to authenticate users based on public/private key pair. It is able to find out which user is currently committing. However, the user name and email is taken from the client's Git configuration ('git config user.name' etc.), which can be set to arbitrary values. Is there any way to associate user names and emails with their public keys and then make Gitosis uses these names and emails as the name and email of the committer? I do not care if I will use Gitosis or WebDAV or some other alternative to share the repository. It just seems to me that none of the available methods supports this enforcement of using some kind of "correct" user name and email. If there exists some alternative, please tell me about it.

  My function below calls a partial view after a user enters a filter-by string into the text box '#DocId'. When the user is done typing, the partial view is displayed with filtered data. Since my textbox needs to be in the partial view, when user is done entering a filter-by string and is shown the filtered data, the textbox is reset and the user entered data is lost. How can I set the value of the textbox back to the user entered string after the partial view is displayed? (god! i have so many questions) i have an application and a user must log-in before he/she can access pages. now once the user logs in i keep the user details in a session variable (say Session["CurrentUser"]). now if a user tries to jump to a page directly i will check if the Session["CurrentUser"] has a value or not...if not then the user will be directed to the login page... my problem is that i have done this or rather say written this "Checking Code" on almost all the pages. what i want is this code to stay on a particular location and i will just access that method all the time on all the pages...now where should i write this method ?? thank you.

  Synopsis: Each User account has a UserProfile to hold extended info like phone numbers, addresses, etc. Then, a User account can have multiple Identities. There are multiple types of identities that hold different types of information. The structure would be like so: User |<-FK- UserProfile | |<-FK- IdentityType1 |<-FK- IdentityType1 |<-FK- IdentityType2 |<-FK- IdentityType3 (current) |<-FK- IdentityType3 |<-FK- IdentityType3 The User account can be connected to n number of Identities of different types but can only use one Identity at a time. Seemingly, the Django way would be to collect all of the connected identities (user.IdentityType1_set.select_related()) into a QuerySet and then check each one for some kind of 'current' field. Question: Can anyone think of a better way to select the 'current' marked Identity than doing three DB queries (one for each IdentityType)?

How can the domain of the user be found from Active Directory programatically. One method thought of is : 1)Get the distinguished name of user from Active Directory. 2)Parse the distinguished name. 3)Get the substring that starts the first instance of "DC=". 4)Strip off the "DC=" at the beginning. 5)Replace all instances of ",DC=" with a "." 6)What is left is the DNS domain name of the user. I have the following questions in mind weight can be expressed in kilograms and grams and height in meters and centimeters, so should I capture them as a BigDecimal with an appropriate precision and scale or capture them as vanilla strings and do the manipulation in the user interface. For example, someone is browsing around your websites saving various items as favourites. He's not logged in, so they're saved to an anonymous user's data. She is able to login to her Windows box fine with her new user name, but when she tries to run the client side of our application, the server gets her old user name in the "userName" variable in the code above, which messes up our authentication (since her old user name is no longer in our database). Another piece of info: This only happens when she connects to the server code on the Production server. We have the same server code running on a QA server, and it does not have this issue (the QA server code gets her correct (new) user name) Any ideas what could be going on?

  I have a user control nested in a repeater. Inside my user control I have another repeater and in that I have a panel. I am trying to override the LoadViewState event of my user control and dynamically add controls to the panel. I want to do it in the LoadViewState so that the dynamic controls get added before the viewstate gets loaded, so they retain their values after post backs. For some reason the LoadViewState event on the user control (ascx) is not firing. Is there some way to force it to fire, or is there another method I could use? I have ruled out the user controls repeater databind event, because I need it to work even if data binding isn't happening and I can't do it on the repeaters item created event either because the child panel and inner html doesn't exist yet.

  I have a schedule checker that needs to run until a user presses a key to make it stop. My thoughts on doing this are as follows: The user starts the process Process runs every 10 seconds When the process is not running, Console.ReadLine(); gives the user the option to press "q" to stop the process My approach would work fine except the user would have to wait however long the process takes to complete before being able to stop it.
