    when I create new silverlight project it asks Host the Silverlight application in a new Website followed by two fields- 1. Name: projectName.web 2. Type: ASP.Net Web Application Project OR Asp.Net Web Site when I uncheck this checkbox VS doen not create projectName.web project but when I check this VS creates two projects 1. projectName--contains .xaml pages 2. projectName.web-- contains default.aspx page.................. So my question is - Is it must to host silverlight app from a new website(default.aspx page) OR cant we directly host .xaml page? ProjectName.Web project is req.?? –

  • Finding latest release links on website for C++ Application

    Basically I have written a game plugin that will allow server admins to update their administration tools from within game rather than having to go download it and install it. The releases are updated regularly, and the beta versions are nightly builds. I am trying to find a way to grab the links from the website, but I cannot think of anyway to do this off of the top of my head.     Hi, My classifieds website has been present online since 2006, the html pages are indexed and rank as expected whereas a search on Google Images for site:example.com returns nothing & in Yahoo or Bing it returns only a few image results, 8 to 10.     I want to embed a search box to allow my website users to search images using google images search (not only images in my website, but general images search). However, I don't want an Iframe of something similar, but to present a custom list of the images and links in the format I chose. Ideally, I could get the links to the thumbnails to the in JSON. From what I have found so far, it seems that google no longer supports it's API: https://developers.google.com/image-search/ I am familiar with google custom search, but as far as I know, I can't control exactly how it will be presented. The reason I'm asking is because we don't want users to lose their sessions. So we want to update the live website with recompile changes in the very wee hours of the morning, but would prefer to make changes during the day to expedite them.     I am aware of this question which deals with the technical aspects of website construction, but I was unable to find any place with suggestions on knowledge you must obtain from a client before undergoing a project. As someone who freelances on the side, I think this could be incredibly useful. What important questions must one ask the client (and require an answer to) before undergoing a website? or, in other words, What must you know about the project before starting it? This can range from "When do I get paid?" to "How many pages will the site be?". I believe this is relevant to programming because you must know how to communicate with your client to get all the information necessary before you can begin programming. If not, downstream changes can put a serious delay on the project from things not hashed out beforehand. Thanks!

    I have a web page that when I run it on a remote computer I get the message saying that remote errors cannot be viewed When I go to view it on my web server machine, I get a message saying: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage • Most likely causes: • You are not connected to the Internet. • The website is encountering problems. • There might be a typing error in the address. What you can try: Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected. Retype the address. Go back to the previous page. I can get to google fine, so it is not the internet connection.... But this message gives me nothing to work on. How can I get more info as to why my page is not working? I tried going to IIS Mananger and right clicking on the site and selecting browse. But my site is an HTTPS site so that does not work. Any ideas would be great.

    I have very little experience with setting up a website from scratch in a .NET environment. As I am doing this now, I am wondering - what's the best way to go? Is it better to create a new Website Project, and include the various backend services and database code as part of that project, or is it better to split out the various aspects of the project? If the second, how would I go about doing that? I want to ensure that this project is easy to manage in the future (in terms of source control, deployment, etc), so I want to make sure I'm starting off on the right foot. I was unable to find any tutorials online, but if you have any, I would appreciate those as well. Thanks!

  • best way to make this app/website combo?

    I have an idea for an app that lets different bars upload drink specials via a webpage to that app. They would log in the website, and the website would prompt them with a box to input the drink specials. When they are done, the app pulls the information and creates a card for that bar. The app would launch into a week view where you select the day you want to see specials for. After the day is selected, it brings you to a scroll view with different bars' cards laid out vertically, each taking up the width of the screen, allowing the user to scroll through the deals for that day of the week. How should I go about doing this if I have very little programming experience? Is there any convention in doing an app like this? Can anyone suggest any reading material that would help? Thank you!

It is even okay if they're just created as "classic" mode applications. I have tried the following things: Msdeploy. This copies the whole directoried though, not good... Tried exporting the iis websites to xml... Found nothing to give them to iis7... Anybody got an idea?

    Here is a situation until today morning,every thing has been working perfectly fine with me. From past 6 months many of my domains wer accessible as http://site1.myserver.com http://site2.myserver.com http://site3.myserver.com http://site4.myserver.com All these were Reverse Proxy configurations. I have some applications on each of them. until today morning some people reported me that http://site1.myserver.com/app1 is not working but http://site1.myserver.com is accessible but http://site2.myserver.com is accessible but http://site3.myserver.com is accessible but http://site4.myserver.com not accessible In past 6 months I have not changed any of these Apache configurations (things were working perfectly so) The error which can be seen in browser are while accessing http://site1.myserver.com/app1 Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request GET /app1.   • Randomly getting a 500 error on my website

    I am randomly getting a 500 error on my websites, all of which are hosted on a shared server. It won't happen all the time, just randomly when I will refresh the page I will get a 500 error. It usually will come back after I refresh a few times. I've been reading about it and have heard that .htaccess files can cause this... I did recently start using an .htaccess file to tell my server to start using php 5. I got the code straight from the hosting company that I am with. This is what is in the .htaccess file: AddType x-mapp-php5 .php If anyone has any ideas as to what would be causing this, that would really help. Thanks!
