  I was wondering if there was a tool to convert a path data like "M 0 0 l 10 10" to it's equivalent line/curve segment code. However converting a lot of paths by hand is very tedious.

• Passing custom info to mongrel_rails start

  One thing I really don't understand is how I can pass custom start-up options to a mongrel instance. I see that a common approach is the use environment variables, but in my environment this is not going to work because my rails application serves many different clients. Much code is shared between clients, but there are also many differences which I implement by subclassing controllers and views to overload or extend existing features or introduce new ones. To make this all work, I simply add the paths to client specific modules the module load path ($:). In order to start the application for a particular client, I could now use an environment variable like say, TARGET=AMAZONE. Unfortunately, on some systems I'm running multiple mongrel clusters, each cluster serving a different client. Some of these systems run under Windows and to start mongrel I installed mongrel_services. Clearly, this makes my environment variable unsuitable. Passing this extra bit of data to the application is proving to be a real challenge. For a start, mongrel_rails service_install will reject any [custom] command line parameters that aren't documented. I'm not too concerned as installing the services using the install program is trivial. However, even if I manage to install mongrel_services such that when run it passes the custom command line option --target to mongrel_rails start, I get an error because mongrel_rails doesn't recognize the switch. So here were the things I looked at: Pass an extra parameter: mongrel_rails start --target XYZ ... use a config file and add target:XYZ, then do: mongrel_rails start -C x:\myapp\myconfig.yml modify the file: Ruby\lib\ruby\gems\1.8\gems\mongrel-1.1.5-x86-mswin32-60\lib\mongrel\command.rb Perhaps I can use the --script option, but all docs that I found on it were for Unix 1 and 2 simply don't work. I played with 4 but never managed it to do anything. So I had no choice but to go with 3. While it is relatively simple, I hate changing ruby library code. Particularly disappointing is that 2 doesn't work. I mean what is so unreasonable about adding other [custom] options in the config file? Actually I think this is a fundamental piece that is missing in rails. Somehow, the application should be able to register and access command line arguments it expects. If anybody has a good idea how to do this more elegantly using the current infrastructure, I have a chocolate fish to give away!!!

  As an input I have a photo of a simple symbol, e.g.: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nrmsvfd0le0bkke/symbol.jpg I would like to detect the straight lines in it, like points of start and ends of the lines. In this case, assuming the top left of the symbol is (0,0), the lines would be defined like this: start end (coordinates of beginning and end of a line) 1. (0,0); (0,10) (vertical line) 2. (0,10); (15, 15) 3. (15,15); (0, 20) 4. (0,20); (0,30) How can I do it (pereferably using OpenCV)? I though about Hough lines, but they seem to be good for perfect thin straight lines, which is not the case in a drawing. I'll probably work on binarized image, too.

  Hi, I am using Visual Studio 2010 for an MVC website project. I have an big problem and dont know hot to solve it. When i am looking to the output of html in firebug indents in my aspx and ascx files are outputed as space in same places. I think its about line ending of files but i am not sure how to fix them. I am adding some pictures about problem. When i am adding a breakpoint it also add red background to spaces (this is problem) I try to delete spaces after hit ctrl+k d same problem happen. If i delete all indents make page 1 line without spaces output is fine but it not a solution.

• Scalling connected lines

  Hello, I have some kind of a shape consisting of vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines. I have starting X,Y and ending X,Y (this is my input - just 2 points defining a line) of each line and I would like to make the whole shape scalable (just by changing the value of a scale ratio variable), so that I can still preserve the proper connection of the lines and the proportions as well. Just for getting a better idea of what I mean: it'd be as if I had the same lines in a vector editor. Would that be possible with an algorithm, and could you please, give me another possible solution if there is no such algorithm ? Thank you very much in advance!

• C# StreamReader.ReadLine() - Need to pick up line terminators

  I wrote a C# program to read an Excel .xls/.xlsx file and output to CSV and Unicode text. I wrote a separate program to remove blank records. This is accomplished by reading each line with StreamReader.ReadLine(), and then going character by character through the string and not writing the line to output if it contains all commas (for the CSV) or all tabs (for the Unicode text). The problem occurs when the Excel file contains embedded newlines (\x0A) inside the cells. I changed my XLS to CSV converter to find these new lines (since it goes cell by cell) and write them as \x0A, and normal lines just use StreamWriter.WriteLine(). The problem occurs in the separate program to remove blank records. When I read in with StreamReader.ReadLine(), by definition it only returns the string with the line, not the terminator. Since the embedded newlines show up as two separate lines, I can't tell which is a full record and which is an embedded newline for when I write them to the final file. I'm not even sure I can read in the \x0A because everything on the input registers as '\n'. I could go character by character, but this destroys my logic to remove blank lines. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

• Force float left with no line break no matter what

  I'm guessing this isn't possible, but here goes. I have two tables, and I'm trying to get them to sit side-by-side so that they look like one table. The reason for this, instead of using one larger table, is that the data in the second table needs to be handled on a column basis, not row basis, for performance reasons like caching and AJAX-fetching data. So rather than have to reload the whole table for a single column, I decided to break the column out into a separate table, but have it visually seem like a single table. I can't find a way to forcibly put the second table next to the first. I can float them, but when the first table is too wide, the second one breaks to the next line. Here's the kicker: the width of the first table is dynamic. So I can't just set a huge width to their container. Well, I could set a huge width, like 1000%, but then I have a huge ugly horizontal scroll bar. So is there any way to tell the second table "Stay on that same line, no matter what! And line up right next to the previous element please!"

• finding "line-breaks" in textarea that is word-wrapping ARABIC text

  I have a string of text that I display in a textarea (right-to-left orientation). The user can resize the textarea dynamically (I use jquery for this) and the text will wrap as necessary. When the user hits submit, I will take that text and create an image using PHP, BUT before submitting I would like to know where the "line-breaks" or rather "word-wraps" occur. Everywhere I have looked so far only shows me how to process line-breaks on the php side. I want to make it clear that there ARE NO LINE-BREAKS. What I have is one LONG string that will be word-wrapped in different ways based on the width of the textarea set by the user. I can't use "columns" or any other standard width representation because I have a very complex arabic font that is actually composed of glyphs (characters) of numerous different widths. If anyone knows of a way of accessing where the word wraps occur (either in a textarea or a div if need-be), I'd really like to know. My only other solution is to actually store (in my DB) the width of every single character (somewhat tedious since there are over 200 characters in 600 different fonts, for a total of...some huge number). My hopes aren't high, but I thought I would ask. Thanks i. jamal

• ASP.NET Line Breaks in Title Element

  I'm trying to optimize SEO readability on our websites and one issue I've come across is ASP.NET butchering the title element of my MasterPage. Entered as such in my MasterPage (manually reformatted to remove line breaks caused by the <% %> tags): <title><asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="TitleContent" runat="server" /> - <%=WebsiteSettings.WebsiteName %></title> This is the output I receive: <title> Home - Website Name</title> As you can see ASP.NET is adding preceding and trailing line breaks where the <asp:ContentPlaceHolder /> is substitute becaused Visual Studio auto-formats <asp:Content /> to start and end with a line break. Obviously, this can be prevented in the Visual Studio formatting options, but this is not ideal because I only would want to remove that behavior for the TitleContent placeholder and not the rest. Is there any way I can ensure my Title is trimmed before it is rendered? I am using MVC so code-behind is not an acceptable option.

  The answer accepted here (JFreechart(Java) - How to draw lines that is partially dashed lines and partially solid lines?) helped me start down the path of changing my seriesstroke lines on my chart. After stepping through my code and watching the changes, I see that my seriesstroke does in fact change to "dashedStroke" when it is supposed to (after a certain date "dai"), but when the chart is rendered the entire series line is dashed. • sIFR3 and line-height/leading

  I've successfully implemented sIFR3 using the nightlies from the end of Oct. All is well and much easier to work with than sIFR2 except where it comes to line-height. I was able to deal with my headings fine. But I have a pullquote that needs more line-height/leading and though I've read through support and see that it needs to be applied to the .sIFR-root, it's not working. Is there something funky I don't know about? Here's my code: sIFR.replace(fedraBook, { selector: '.callout p', css: '.sIFR-root { background-color: #FFFFFF; color: #968b85; leading: 3.5;}' }); I had the leading at 1.5 but changed to 3.5 just to see if I could get it to vary at all. It does not. I tried also affecting it with this CSS selector with no joy: .sIFR-active .callout p { font-size: 1.6em; padding-top: 7px; line-height: 2.5em; } Does anyone have any ideas here? What am I missing?

• feedparser fails during script run, but can't reproduce in interactive python console

  It's failing with this when I run eclipse or when I run my script in iPython: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xe2 in position 32: ordinal not in range(128) I don't know why, but when I simply execute the feedparse.parse(url) statement using the same url, there is no error thrown. • How to draw line inside a scatter plot

  I can't believe that this is so complicated but I tried and googled for a while now. I just want to analyse my scatter plot with a few graphical features. For starters, I want to add simply a line. And frankly, the documentation-examples-gallery combo and content of matplotlib is a bad source for information. • Line Text with Nav Bar in HTML

  I have a navbar right under the title to the site, but I want to be line up the first and last items in the navbar with the beginning and end of the Title. I don't have a live preview, but I attached an image. I can get it to line up in one browser, but when I open it in the other, its off again.   I 've tried to create my own HTML Helper which work fine for my need but I can't embed many lines of jQuery code in my extension HtmlHelpers class. I've tried @ literal for jQuery code I doesn't work or I need to escape every line of code that I thing I not good for multiple line of code. I don't know if there is another way to achieve this problem like << Therefore, I need to include jQuery plugin file and put implement script after HTML tag.   Okay, so I'm using perl to read in a file that contains some general configuration data. This data is organized into headers based on what they mean. An example follows: [vars] # This is how we define a variable! $var = 10; $str = "Hello thar!"; # This section contains flags which can be used to modify module behavior # All modules read this file and if they understand any of the flags, use them [flags] Verbose = true; # Notice the errant whitespace! [path] WinPath = default; # Keyword which loads the standard PATH as defined by the operating system. Append with additonal values. LinuxPath = default; Goal: Using the first line as an example "$var = 10;", I'd like to use the split function in perl to create an array that contains the characters "$var" and "10" as elements. Using another line as an example: Verbose = true; # Should become [Verbose, true] aka no whitespace is present This is needed because I will be outputting these values to a new file (which a different piece of C++ code will read) to instantiate dictionary objects.   Ok so I have a regex and I need it to find matches in a multiline string. This is the string I am using: Device Identifier: disk0 Device Node: /dev/disk0 Part of Whole: disk0 Device / Media Name: OCZ-VERTEX2 Media Volume Name: Not applicable (no file system) Mounted: Not applicable (no file system) File System: None Content (IOContent): GUID_partition_scheme OS Can Be Installed: No Media Type: Generic Protocol: SATA SMART Status: Verified Total Size: 240.1 GB (240057409536 Bytes) (exactly 468862128 512-Byte-Blocks) Volume Free Space: Not applicable (no file system) Device Block Size: 512 Bytes Read-Only Media: No Read-Only Volume: Not applicable (no file system) Ejectable: No Whole: Yes Internal: Yes Solid State: Yes OS 9 Drivers: No Low Level Format: Not supported Basically I need to separate each line into two groups with the colon as the separator. The regex I am using is: @"([A-Za-z0-9\(\) \-\/]+):([A-Za-z0-9\(\) \-\/]+).*" It does work but only picks up the first line and separates it into the two groups like I want but it stops at that point. I have tried the Multiline option but it doesn't make any difference. I must admit I am new to the regex world. Any help is appreciated.

  This is the test page: http://www.onebagoneearth.com/ OBOEKindBag (spaces between the pagename and domain because I don't want the URL indexed as such) If you click on one of the thumbnails, or on the main image, you see a popup window, and if you enter a quantity and then click "add to cart" here, in IE7 (and IE6, but I'm not focusing on that as much), you see an invalid argument error with Code:0. The line # changes depending on which item you add to cart! The URL also changes because it depends on this line of javascript: var cartUrl = "/app/site/backend/additemtocart.nl?c=659197&n=2&buyid=" + zbuyid + "&qty=" + zqty + "&" + strOptionId + "=" + zitmId . The strOptionId variable, which contains the bag color type (ie. this changes for the different types of bags, like Kind bags, regular OBOE bags), and the zitmID variable which contains the particular bag color that you've selected (ie. Black), are what change, and also what seem to affect the line number that the invalid argument occurs on. The error definitely doesn't occur in Chrome 4, IE 8, or FF 3.5. Ideas?

  I have cheated every time I've needed to do a line count in XSLT by using JScript, but in this case I can't do that. I simply want to write out a line counter throughout an output file. This basic example has a simple solution: <xsl:for-each select="Records/Record"> <xsl:value-of select="position()"/> </xsl:for-each> Output would be: 1 2 3 4 etc... But what if the structure is more complex with nested foreach's : <xsl:for-each select="Records/Record"> <xsl:value-of select="position()"/> <xsl:for-each select="Records/Record"> <xsl:value-of select="position()"/> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:for-each> Here, the inner foreach would just reset the counter (so you get 1, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2 etc). Does anyone know how I can output the position in the file (ie. a line count)?

  I need to process a big data file that contains multi-line records, example input: 1 Name Dan 1 Title Professor 1 Address aaa street 1 City xxx city 1 State yyy 1 Phone 123-456-7890 2 Name Luke 2 Title Professor 2 Address bbb street 2 City xxx city 3 Name Tom 3 Title Associate Professor 3 Like Golf 4 Name 4 Title Trainer 4 Likes Running Note that the first integer field is unique and really identifies a whole record. So in the above input I really have 4 records although I dont know how many lines of attributes each records may have. I need to: - identify valid record (must have "Name" and "Title" field) - output the available attributes for each valid record, say "Name", "Title", "Address" are needed fields. Example output: 1 Name Dan 1 Title Professor 1 Address aaa street 2 Name Luke 2 Title Professor 2 Address bbb street 3 Name Tom 3 Title Associate Professor So in the output file, record 4 is removed since it doen't have the "Name" field. Record 3 doesn't have Address field but still being print to the output since it is a valid record that has "Name" and "Title". Can I do this with awk? But how do i identify a whole record using the first "id" field on each line? Thanks a lot to the unix shell script expert for helping me out! :)

• PHP/Javascript: Need help removing line break from code

  I am trying to get names from a .txt file. I am using file('filename.txt') but if i use a php for loop to try and trim the names, it comes out on multiple lines: This is the actual line that prints the javascript (NOTE: I am going to be putting these names into a select box, if you can fix the problem at hand the rest of the code should work so unless you a big problem with it you don't need to comment) <?php for($i=1; $i < 27; $i++){ echo "selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('".lines[$i]."','".$lines[$i]."');\n"; } ?> Heres how it comes out on the browser: selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Djamal ABDOUN ','First1 Last1 '); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Chadli AMRI ','First2 Last2 '); I need those to be on one line so i dont get a unterminated string literal js error Any ideas on what i can do here? EDIT: Oh i should probably mention, the $lines var is initiated like this: $lines = file('filename.txt'); and inside that file i have formatted like this First1 Last1 First2 Last2 First3 Last3 etc. and i hit delete after each Last name until the next first name is touching, then hit enter to put it on a new line (Editor is notepad++)

• Executing system command in php, differs in using broswer and in using command line

  Hi, I have to execute a Linux "more" command in php from a particular offset, format the result and display the result in Browser. The output at the command line is :: No of lines are : 279 (This is correct) While executing the same command directly in command line, gives me output as 279. I am unable to understand why the output of the same command is wrong in the browser. Its actually giving the word count of lines, ignoring the offset parameter. Please help !! Thanks, Amit
