  • Wildcards vs. generic methods

    - by FredOverflow
    Is there any practical difference between the following approaches to print all elements in a range? public static void printA(Iterable<?> range) { for (Object o : range) { System.out.println(o); } } public static <T> void printB(Iterable<T> range) { for (T x : range) { System.out.println(x); } } Apparently, printB involves an additional checked cast to Object (see line 16), which seems rather stupid to me -- isn't everything an Object anyway? public static void printA(java.lang.Iterable); Code: 0: aload_0 1: invokeinterface #18, 1; //InterfaceMethod java/lang/Iterable.iterator:()Ljava/util/Iterator; 6: astore_2 7: goto 24 10: aload_2 11: invokeinterface #24, 1; //InterfaceMethod java/util/Iterator.next:()Ljava/lang/Object; 16: astore_1 17: getstatic #30; //Field java/lang/System.out:Ljava/io/PrintStream; 20: aload_1 21: invokevirtual #36; //Method java/io/PrintStream.println:(Ljava/lang/Object;)V 24: aload_2 25: invokeinterface #42, 1; //InterfaceMethod java/util/Iterator.hasNext:()Z 30: ifne 10 33: return public static void printB(java.lang.Iterable); Code: 0: aload_0 1: invokeinterface #18, 1; //InterfaceMethod java/lang/Iterable.iterator:()Ljava/util/Iterator; 6: astore_2 7: goto 27 10: aload_2 11: invokeinterface #24, 1; //InterfaceMethod java/util/Iterator.next:()Ljava/lang/Object; 16: checkcast #3; //class java/lang/Object 19: astore_1 20: getstatic #30; //Field java/lang/System.out:Ljava/io/PrintStream; 23: aload_1 24: invokevirtual #36; //Method java/io/PrintStream.println:(Ljava/lang/Object;)V 27: aload_2 28: invokeinterface #42, 1; //InterfaceMethod java/util/Iterator.hasNext:()Z 33: ifne 10 36: return

  • Row Prefix - ItemsControl with UniformGrid

    - by tenfour
    I am using an ItemsControl to display a List<byte> in hex. The ItemsPanelTemplate is a UniformGrid with a fixed number of columns: <ItemsControl HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top" ItemsSource="{Binding}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <UniformGrid Columns="16"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding StringFormat='\{0:X2\}'}" Margin="5,5,5,0"/> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> I'd like to prefix each row with an 'Address' column, just like you'd see with the Notepad++ 'HEX-Editor' plugin. That is, since I have 16 columns, each row should be prefixed something like this: 0000 [00 01 02 .... 0F] 0010 [10 11 12 .... 1F] 0020 [20 21 22 .... 2F] ... Any suggestions?

  • Populate a tree from Hierarchical data using 1 LINQ statement

    - by Midhat
Hi. I have set up this programming exercise. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace ConsoleApplication2 { class DataObject { public int ID { get; set; } public int ParentID { get; set; } public string Data { get; set; } public DataObject(int id, int pid, string data) { this.ID = id; this.ParentID = pid; this.Data = data; } } class TreeNode { public DataObject Data {get;set;} public List<DataObject> Children { get; set; } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { List<DataObject> data = new List<DataObject>(); data.Add(new DataObject(1, 0, "Item 1")); data.Add(new DataObject(2, 0, "Item 2")); data.Add(new DataObject(21, 2, "Item 2.1")); data.Add(new DataObject(22, 2, "Item 2.2")); data.Add(new DataObject(221, 22, "Item 2.2.1")); data.Add(new DataObject(3, 0, "Item 3")); } } } The desired output is a List of 3 treenodes, having items 1, 2 and 3. Item 2 will have a list of 2 dataobjects as its children member and so on. I have been trying to populate this tree (or rather a forest) using just 1 SLOC using LINQ. A simple group by gives me the desired data but the challenge is to organize it in TreeNode objects. Can someone give a hint or an impossibility result for this?

  • C# algorithm for figuring out different possible combinations...

    - by ttomsen
I have 10 boxes, each box can hold one item from a group/type of items, each 'group' type only fits in one of the 10 box types. The pool can have n number of items. The groups have completely distinct items. Each item has a price, i want an algorithm that will generate all the different possibilities, so i can figure out different price points. so a smaller picture of the problem BOX A - can have item 1,2,3,4 in it BOX B - can have item 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 BOX C - can have item 13,15,16,20,21 The items are stored in a db, they have a column which denotes which box they can go in. All box types are stored in an array, and I can put the items in a generic list. Anyone see a straightforward way to do this. I have tried doing 10 nested foreach's to see if i could find a simpler way. The nested loops will take MANY hours to run. the nested for each's basically pull all combinations, then calculate a rank for each combination, and store the top 10 ranked combination of items for output

  • Ruby Alias and module_function

    - by Jesse J
I'm trying to debug someone else's code and having trouble figuring out what's wrong. When I run rake, one of the errors I get is: 2) Error: test_math(TestRubyUnits): NoMethodError: undefined method `unit_sin' for CMath:Module /home/user/ruby-units/lib/ruby_units/math.rb:21:in `sin' This is the function that calls the method: assert_equal Math.sin(pi), Math.sin("180 deg".unit) And this is what the class looks like: module Math alias unit_sin sin def sin(n) Unit === n ? unit_sin(n.to('radian').scalar) : unit_sin(n) end alias unit_cos cos def cos(n) Unit === n ? unit_cos(n.to('radian').scalar) : unit_cos(n) end ... module_function :unit_sin module_function :sin module_function :unit_cos module_function :cos ... end (The ellipsis means "more of the same"). As far as I can see, this is valid Ruby code. Is there something I'm missing here that's causing the error, or could the error be coming from something else? Update: I'm wondering if the problem has to do with namespaces. This code is attempting to extend CMath, so perhaps the alias and/or module_function isn't actually getting into CMath, or something like that....

  • Facebook Like Button for a Facebook video

    - by gridsquare
Today, i created an iframe-Tab on our Facebook Page as a landingpage. On this tab we display a video, implemented from Facebook. Now i want to add the Facebook Like Button for this video on this page, i implement the code generated by the LIKE BUTTON Developer Page. <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fvideo%2Fvideo.php%3Fv%3D345848348745&amp;layout=button_count&amp;show_faces=true&amp;width=100&amp;action=like&amp;font=arial&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;height=21" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:120px; height:21px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe> Now the button where displayed, but without a count. If i click on the like button the counter getting visible (displaying +1) and jumping back then (displaying no count). Do you know, if i can use the like button directly for the Facebook URL? http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=345848348745 Thank u!

  • In Perl v 5.10.1 on Windows, my variable loses it's value

    - by Sylvia
    I hope this is something straightforward that I'm doing wrong. I saw something online about "variable suicide" that looked good, but it was for an older version and I'm on 5.10.1. Anyway - a variable that I declared - $RootDirectory - just suddenly loses it's value, and I can't figure out why. Here's a script to reproduce the problem. When I run through the script in debug mode (perl -d) I can get it to print out the $RootDirectory at line 21 and 26. But it's gone by line 30. use strict; my $RootDirectory; my @RootDirectories; @RootDirectories = ( 'c:\\P4\\EDW\\PRODEDW\\EDWDM\\main\\db\\' ,'c:\\P4\\EDW\\PRODEDW\\EDWADS\\main\\db\\' ,'c:\\P4\\EDW\\PRODEDW\\FJE\\main\\db\\' ); foreach $RootDirectory (@RootDirectories) { # $RootDirectory = 'c:\\P4\\EDW\\PRODEDW\\EDWDM\\main\\db\\'; # print ' In foreach ' . $RootDirectory. "\n"; RunSchema (); } exit(0); sub RunSchema() { # print ' In RunSchema ' . $RootDirectory. "\n"; CreateTables (); } sub CreateTables() { # print ' In CreateTables ' . $RootDirectory. "\n"; SQLExecFolder ('tbl'); } sub SQLExecFolder() { print ' In SQLExecFolder ' . $RootDirectory. "\n"; # Variable $RootDirectory value is gone by now }

  • How to get components from a JFrame with a GridLayout?

    - by NlightNfotis
I have a question about Java and JFrame in particular. Let's say I have a JFrame that I am using with a GridLayout. Supposing that I have added JButtons in the JFrame, how can I gain access to the one I want using it's position (by position, I mean a x and a y, used to define the exact place on the Grid). I have tried several methods, for instance getComponentAt(int x, int y), and have seen that those methods do not work as intended when combined with GridLayout, or at least don't work as intended in my case. So I tried using getComponent(), which seems fine. The latest method, that seems to be on a right track for me is (assuming I have a JFrame with a GridLayout with 7 rows and 7 columns, x as columns, y as rows): public JButton getButtonByXAndY(int x, int y) { return (JButton) this.getContentPane().getComponent((y-1) * 7 + x); } Using the above, say I want to get the JButton at (4, 4), meaning the 25th JButton in the JFrame, I would index through the first 21 buttons at first, and then add 4 more, finally accessing the JButton I want. Problem is this works like that in theory only. Any ideas? P.S sorry for linking to an external website, but stack overflow won't allow me to upload the image, because I do not have the required reputation.

    - by Terryn
I am running xcode 5.1.1 and have been trying to learn objective C / iOS development. Right now whenever I try to run my code on the emulator (I do not have an actual device atm) it comes up with a black screen. Code can be found here. • Problem with generic list and extension method(C#3.0)

    - by Newbie
I have an issue. I am making an extension class for a Collection and it is generic.. like public static class ListExtensions { public static ICollection<T> Search<T>(this ICollection<T> collection, string stringToSearch) { ICollection<T> t1=null; foreach (T t in collection) { Type k = t.GetType(); PropertyInfo pi = k.GetProperty("Name"); if (pi.GetValue(t,null).Equals(stringToSearch)) { t1.Add(t); } } return t1; } } But I cannot add items to t1 as it is declared null. Error: object reference not set to an instance of the object. I am calling the method like List<TestClass> listTC = new List<TestClass>(); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "Ishu", Age = 21 }); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "Vivek", Age = 40 }); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "some one else", Age = 12 }); listTC.Search("Ishu"); And the test class is public class TestClass { public string Name { get; set; } public int Age { get; set; } } Using : (C#3.0) & Framework - 3.5 Thanks

  • Given the Following List (UL), how can it be serialized and sent to the Database

    - by nobosh
I have the follow structure which is created with a nested sortable: <UL id="container"> <LI id="main1"> <input type="checkbox" /> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur <UL> <LI id="child2"> <input type="checkbox" /> In hac habitasse platea dictumst. <UL></UL> </LI> </UL> </LI> <LI id="main3"> <input type="checkbox" /> In hac habitasse platea dictumst. <UL></UL> </LI> <LI id="main4"> <input type="checkbox" /> In hac habitasse platea dictumst. <UL></UL> </LI> <LI id="main5"> <input type="checkbox" /> In hac habitasse platea dictumst. <UL></UL> </LI> </UL> Where I'm stuck is how to send this back to the database. I"m guessing that it needs to be serialized, does that sound right to? so that is looks something like: item[]=main1&item[]=221&item_221[]=21&item_221[]=2&item_221[]=211&item[]=22 I'm a little lost at this point and appreciate any tips to move me in the right direction. • Assign different colors to individual array elements

    - by rk.
Say I have the array, arr1. I want to print this array (i.e. just display the numbers) but, I want to color the numbers based on their values. If arr1[i]<15, green, if arr1[i]20, red, else orange. Something to this effect. var arr1 = [ 5,10,13,19,21,25,22,18,15,13,11,12,15,20,18,17,16,18,23,25,25,22,18,15,13,11,12,15,20,18]; Here is what I tried doing: for(var i=0; i<arr1.length;i++){ if(arr1[i]<15){ var temp = $(this).css("color","green"); $this.text(temp); } else if(arr1[i]>20){ var temp = $(this).css("color","red"); $this.text(temp); } else { var temp = $(this).css("color","orange"); $this.text(temp); } } I tried changing the css property of individual elements and them adding them to the div, but it did not work for me. Can someone suggest how should I go about doing this?

  • Groovy & Grails Concurrency ( quartz, executor )

    - by Pietro
    What I'm trying to do is to run multiple threads at some starting time. Those threads must stay alive for 90minutes after start. During the 90minutes they execute something after a random sleep time (ex: 5minutes to 15minutes). Here is a pseudo code on how I would implement it. The problem is that doing it in this way the threads run in an unexpected way. How can I implement correctly something like this? Class MyJob { static triggers = { cron name: 'first', cronExpression: "0 30 21 * * FRI" cron name: 'second', cronExpression: "0 30 19 * * FRI" cron name: 'third', cronExpression: "0 30 17 * * FRI" def myService def execute() { switch( between trigger name ) case 'first': model = Model.findByAttribute(...) ... myService.run( model, start_time ) break; ... } } class MyService { def run( model, start_time ) { def end_time = end_time.plusMinutes(90) model.fields.each( field -> Thread.start { executeSomeTasks( field, start_time, end_time ) } ) } def executeSomeTasks( field, start_time, end_time ) { while( start_time < end_time ) { ...do something ... sleep( Random.nextInt( 1000 ) ); } } }

  • Is going for a BCS the right move for me?

    - by Michel Carroll
I'm at a fork in the road. I need somebody to give me some advice from their personal journey in IT. At the moment, I have a college diploma (2 years) in Computer Programmer, and about 2 years of professional experience in the field of software. I'm currently freelancing my programming skills to the public, and am enjoying a nice income, and the rewards of flexibly working on a variety of projects with different cool people. I'm young (21 years old), passionate about software, technology, the internet, and also business. I know if I ever want to dwell deeper into the software industry, I might have a hard time doing so without a Bachelors in Computer Science. On one side, I think I'm better off getting my BCS while I'm still young and malleable. Also, the thought of learning even more stuff in my field is really exciting to me. On the flip side, it means another 3-4 years of studying, and jeopardizing my chances of going on vacation and accumulating wealth for a long time. Considering that I'm already pretty successful with my college diploma, do you think it's a good idea for me to go get my BCS? Will it open up many more doors in the future?

  • Populating a Datagrid with variable number of columns and rows in Flex

    - by Rie Mino
I am trying to figure out how to manage a Datagrid based on an XML object like this: <matrix rows="5" columns="5"> <column> <row>0.5</row> <row>0.21</row> </column> <column> <row>0.6</row> <row>0.9</row> </column> <column> <row>0.5</row> <row>0.5</row> </column> <column> <row>0.8</row> <row>0.4</row> </column> </matrix> I will need to populate the Datagrid column names based on a different XML object and use the above XML to populate each of the column's rows. I currently am able to create the Datagrid and populate its column headers but I am unsure as to how to how to add the rows for each column. The above XML will be update with new row and column elements added and deleted. This, of course, will be bound to the Datagrid to show updates. Thanks in advanced for your help.

  • Insert text depending on time of day and day of week.

    - by ploughansen
I'm trying to piece together a php script to output different text depending on what day it is and the time of day. Example: On weekdays (mon-fri), I would like to output text according to the following periods of time (24H, server time, UTC): 00:00-08:00: "Lorem ipsum" 08:00-13:00: "dolor sit amet" 13:00-15:00: "Pellentesque habitant" 15:00-15:30: "dolor sit amet" 15:30-24:00: "Lorem ipsum" On weekends (sat-sun), I would like to output the following text in this time period: 00:00-24:00 "Lorem ipsum" Can anyone help with a php script to do that? I've already gotten some help over at the css-tricks forum. They supplied this code: <?php $date = strtotime("now"); $hour = date("H", $date); switch($hour) { case 00: case 01: case 02: case 03: case 04: case 05: case 06: case 07: case 08: $dets = array("img" => "image1.png", "txt" => "Lorem ipsum"); break; case 09: case 10: case 11: case 12: case 13: $dets = array("img" => "image2.png", "txt" => "dolor sit amet"); break; case 14: case 15: case 16: $dets = array("img" => "image3.png", "txt" => "Pellentesque habitant"); break; case 17: case 18: case 19: case 20: case 21: case 22: case 23: case 24: $dets = array("img" => "image1.png", "txt" => "Lorem ipsum"); break; } echo "<img src='$dets[img]' alt='$dets[txt]' />"; ?> But it works for all days, and only in full hours. • How do I prevent qFatal() from aborting the application?

    - by Dave
My Qt application uses Q_ASSERT_X, which calls qFatal(), which (by default) aborts the application. That's great for the application, but I'd like to suppress that behavior when unit testing the application. (I'm using the Google Test Framework.) I have by unit tests in a separate project, statically linking to the class I'm testing. The documentation for qFatal() reads: Calls the message handler with the fatal message msg. If no message handler has been installed, the message is printed to stderr. Under Windows, the message is sent to the debugger. If you are using the default message handler this function will abort on Unix systems to create a core dump. On Windows, for debug builds, this function will report a _CRT_ERROR enabling you to connect a debugger to the application. ... To supress the output at runtime, install your own message handler with qInstallMsgHandler(). So here's my main.cpp file: #include <gtest/gtest.h> #include <QApplication> void testMessageOutput(QtMsgType type, const char *msg) { switch (type) { case QtDebugMsg: fprintf(stderr, "Debug: %s\n", msg); break; case QtWarningMsg: fprintf(stderr, "Warning: %s\n", msg); break; case QtCriticalMsg: fprintf(stderr, "Critical: %s\n", msg); break; case QtFatalMsg: fprintf(stderr, "My Fatal: %s\n", msg); break; } } int main(int argc, char **argv) { qInstallMsgHandler(testMessageOutput); testing::InitGoogleTest(&argc, argv); return RUN_ALL_TESTS(); } But my application is still stopping at the assert. I can tell that my custom handler is being called, because the output when running my tests is: My Fatal: ASSERT failure in MyClass::doSomething: "doSomething()", file myclass.cpp, line 21 The program has unexpectedly finished. What can I do so that my tests keep running even when an assert fails?

  • Make Errors: Missing Includes in C++ Script?

    - by Abs
Hello all, I just got help in how to compile this script a few mintues ago on SO but I have managed to get errors. I am only a beginner in C++ and have no idea what the below erros means or how to fix it. This is the script in question. I have read the comments from some users suggesting they changed the #include parts but it seems to be exactly what the script has, see this comment. • Summing Row in SQL query for time range

    - by user3703334
I'm trying to group a large amount of data into smaller bundles. Currently the code for my query is as follows SELECT [DateTime] ,[KW] FROM [POWER] WHERE datetime >= '2014-04-14 06:00:00' and datetime < '2014-04-21 06:00:00' ORDER BY datetime which gives me DateTime KW 4/14/2014 6:00:02.0 1947 4/14/2014 6:00:15.0 1946 4/14/2014 6:00:23.0 1947 4/14/2014 6:00:32.0 1011 4/14/2014 6:00:43.0 601 4/14/2014 6:00:52.0 585 4/14/2014 6:01:02.0 582 4/14/2014 6:01:12.0 580 4/14/2014 6:01:21.0 579 4/14/2014 6:01:32.0 579 4/14/2014 6:01:44.0 578 4/14/2014 6:01:53.0 578 4/14/2014 6:02:01.0 577 4/14/2014 6:02:12.0 577 4/14/2014 6:02:22.0 577 4/14/2014 6:02:32.0 576 4/14/2014 6:02:42.0 578 4/14/2014 6:02:52.0 577 4/14/2014 6:03:02.0 577 4/14/2014 6:03:12.0 577 4/14/2014 6:03:22.0 578 . . . . 4/21/2014 5:59:55.0 11 Now there is a reading every 10 seconds from a substation. Now I want to group this data into hourly readings. Thus 00:00-01:00 = sum([KW]] for where datetime >= '^date^ 00:00:00' and datetime < '^date^ 01:00:00' I've tried using a convert to change the datetime into date and time field and then only to add all the time fields together with no success. Can someone please assist me, I'm not sure what is right way of doing this. Thanks ADDED Ok so the spilt between Datetime is working nicely, but as if I add a SUM([KW]) function SQL gives an error. And if I include any of the group functions it also nags. Below is what works, I still need to sum the KW per the grouping of hours. I've tried using Group By Hour and Group by DATEPART(Hour,[DateTime]) Both didn't work. SELECT DATEPART(Hour,[DateTime]) Hour ,DATEPART(Day,[DateTime]) Day ,DATEPART(Month,[DateTime]) Month ,([KVAReal]) ,([KVAr]) ,([KW]) FROM [POWER].[dbo].[IT10t_PAC3200] WHERE datetime >= '2014-04-14 06:00:00' and datetime < '2014-04-21 06:00:00' order by datetime

  • UINavigationController not working under ARC in iPhone

    - by user1811427
I have creared a new project "Empty Application" template in Xcode 4.3, it is having only two classes AppDelegate.h & .m I cheaked with ARC to use automatic reference count while creating the app. I added two new files "RootViewController" & "NewProjectViewControllers". I implemented code to set navigation controller as follows in AppDelegate - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { self.window = [[UIWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]]; // Override point for customization after application launch. rootViewController = [[MainViewController alloc] init]; UINavigationController *navigation = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:rootViewController]; [self.window addSubview:navigation.view]; self.window.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; [self.window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } and in hte home view (Root view controller) implemented as follows - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.title = @"Projects"; UINavigationBar *navigationBar = [self.navigationController navigationBar]; [navigationBar setTintColor: [UIColor colorWithRed:10/255.0f green:21/255.0f blue:51/255.0f alpha:1.0f]]; //To set the customised bar item UIButton *rightBarBtn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [rightBarBtn setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"plus_new.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; rightBarBtn.frame=CGRectMake(0.0, 100.0, 30.0, 30.0); [rightBarBtn addTarget:self action:@selector(addProject) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; UIBarButtonItem* rightBarItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:rightBarBtn]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightBarItem; // Do any additional setup after loading the view from its nib. } - (void) addProject { NewProjViewController *editProject = [[NewProjViewController alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:editProject animated:YES]; NSLog(@"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"); } But since i used ARC the navigation may dealoc immediately and it doesn't work, All the actions in method works except push to the next view if i do same thing with out ARC it works fine How to resolve this issue..? Thanks in advance

  • Contrary to Python 3.1 Docs, hash(obj) != id(obj). So which is correct?

    - by Don O'Donnell
The following is from the Python v3.1.2 documentation: From The Python Language Reference Section 3.3.1 Basic Customization: object.__hash__(self) ... User-defined classes have __eq__() and __hash__() methods by default; with them, all objects compare unequal (except with themselves) and x.__hash__() returns id(x). From The Glossary: hashable ... Objects which are instances of user-defined classes are hashable by default; they all compare unequal, and their hash value is their id(). This is true up through version 2.6.5: Python 2.6.5 (r265:79096, Mar 19 2010 21:48:26) ... ... >>> class C(object): pass ... >>> c = C() >>> id(c) 11335856 >>> hash(c) 11335856 But in version 3.1.2: Python 3.1.2 (r312:79149, Mar 21 2010, 00:41:52) ... ... >>> class C: pass ... >>> c = C() >>> id(c) 11893680 >>> hash(c) 743355 So which is it? Should I report a documentation bug or a program bug? And if it's a documentation bug, and the default hash() value for a user class instance is no longer the same as the id() value, then it would be interesting to know what it is or how it is calculated, and why it was changed in version 3.

  • FMOD Compiling trouble

    - by CptAJ
I'm trying to get started with FMOD but I'm having some issues compiling the example code in this tutorial: http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article2098.asp I'm using MinGW, I placed the libfmodex.a file in MinGW's include folder (I also tried linking directly to the filename) but it doesn't work. Here's the output. C:\>g++ -o test1.exe test1.cpp -lfmodex test1.cpp:4:1: error: 'FSOUND_SAMPLE' does not name a type test1.cpp: In function 'int main()': test1.cpp:9:29: error: 'FSOUND_Init' was not declared in this scope test1.cpp:12:4: error: 'handle' was not declared in this scope test1.cpp:12:53: error: 'FSOUND_Sample_Load' was not declared in this scope test1.cpp:13:30: error: 'FSOUND_PlaySound' was not declared in this scope test1.cpp:21:30: error: 'FSOUND_Sample_Free' was not declared in this scope test1.cpp:22:17: error: 'FSOUND_Close' was not declared in this scope This is the particular example I'm using: #include <conio.h> #include "inc/fmod.h" FSOUND_SAMPLE* handle; int main () { // init FMOD sound system FSOUND_Init (44100, 32, 0); // load and play sample handle=FSOUND_Sample_Load (0,"sample.mp3",0, 0, 0); FSOUND_PlaySound (0,handle); // wait until the users hits a key to end the app while (!_kbhit()) { } // clean up FSOUND_Sample_Free (handle); FSOUND_Close(); } I have the header files in the "inc" path where my code is. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?
