  Hi all, If i look into PHP they have Joomla, although it was initially build for CMS only but currently it is doing much more then that, like it have Shopping Card module, blogging, forums and many more. In short for PHP guy they have Joomla as opensource, which just need a little customization and the side is ready within 3days. Now what we have in ASP.NET, the most famous opensource here is dotNetNuke but don't support web2.0. My question here is that what do we have in ASP.NET platform or in other word what is Joomla of ASP.NET.

• getting java.lang.OutOfMemoryError exception while running a Midlet (using netbeans)

  I am writing a Midlet(using Netbeans) which reads a file containing exactly 2400 lines (each line being 32 characters long) and (extract a part of each line) puts them in an array. I am doing the same for 11 such files( all files have exactly 2400 lines).The Midlet runs fine for reading 6 files and putting them in 6 arrays. However, the Midlet stops while doing it for the 7th file throwing the following exception: TRACE: , startApp threw an Exception java.lang.OutOfMemoryError (stack trace incomplete) java.lang.OutOfMemoryError (stack trace incomplete) I have tried the modifying the netbeans.conf file to increase the heap memory ( as suggested by many forums and blogs) but nothing works for me. Here are the parameters that i had modified in the netbeans.conf file: -J-Xss2m -J-Xms1024m -J-Xmx1024m -J-XX:PermSize=1024m -J-XX:MaxPermSize=1536m -J-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -J-XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -J-XX:+CMSPermGenSweepingEnabled Can anyone please help me to get me out of this ! • How to automate the finding of an M value along a route

  Kirk Kuykendall had given a script example a few years back in an ESRI forum http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=93&f=996&t=88246&mc=4 as to how to find the M (measure) value of a point in a shapefile along a route when you clicked on the point. This is very handy, BUT..I have 1500 points that I need M values for. Is there a way to automate this type of thing? I need the M values for the points to create linear events on the route. Note: I am not a programmer, but have people who can help me out.

• Jquery autocomplete for input form, using Textpattern category list as a source

  I'm using the Textpattern CMS to build a discussion site-- I have a firm grasp of XHTML and CSS, as well as Textpattern's template language, but PHP and Javascript are a bit beyond my cunning. On the input form to begin a new topic, users need to select a category from a list of over 5,000 options. Using the HTML select-type input element is very unwieldy, but it works. I would like to use some kind of Javascript magic to display a text-type input element that will read user input and display matches or autocomplete from the available categories, passing the required option's value into the appropriate database field. I've seen several autocomplete plugins for jquery, but the instructions presuppose that you understand how Javascript works. As I mentioned above, it's easy for me to generate the category list as a select-type input element, and I can hide that element using CSS. Is it possible to control select-list input using an autocomplete mechanism in a text-type input element? How would I do that?

  I want to protect my software from being used without permission. I will provide it for free to the parties I authorize to use it. Anyone knows a good protection scheme against having it copied and run by unauthorized parties ? So far, I thought about introducing a key validation mechanism: periodically, the user needs to send me (web site query) a code based on which I generate a new code that app validates against. There is an initial code, and so I can track users... Thoughts ? Later edit: I changed the licensing part to avoid unfocused discussion.

• Twitter oauth/request_token failing sometimes

  Hello there. I'm implementing Twitters OAuth for Adobe AIR in Javascript. My problem is, that out of 100 requests to api.twitter.com/oauth/request_token about 30 fail with the usual error message: Failed to validate oauth signature and token The other 70% of requests produce a correct response, so I believe that my algorithm for signing is correct. I've read about invalid timestamps in a lot of forums and mailing lists but that is not the problem. My timestamps are correct. I also checked, if the nonces are unique, so that's not the cause either. Any ideas why this is happening?

  Hi, im using symfony with doctrine, and Im trying to generate the schema yml file from a db. I get an this error SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'group' at line 1. Failing Query: "DESCRIBE group"I have a table named group in my database, and I suspect that this is screwing it up. Its not access problems as ive checked my db previleges. Any suggestions on what I can do? I have tried the quote-identifier attribute but with no luck : ( Im also struggling to find some good doctrine documentation. i cant seem to find where a list of attributes are, say for a creating a column in the schema.yml file. I tried reaching out to symfony forums but they are not responsive! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks..

• Why people are so afraid of using clone() (on collection and JDK classes) ?

  A number of times I've argued that using clone() isn't such a bad practice. Yes, I know the arguments. Bloch said it's bad. He indeed did, but he said that implementing clone() is bad. Using clone on the other hand, especially if it is implemented correctly by a trusted library, such as the JDK, is OK. Just yesterday I had a discussion about an answer of mine that merely suggests that using clone() for ArrayList is OK (and got no upvotes for that reason, I guess). If we look at the @author of ArrayList, we can see a familiar name - Josh Bloch. So clone() on ArrayList (and other collections) is perfectly fine. (Just look at the implementation). Same goes for Calendar and perhaps most of the java.lang and java.util classes. So, give me a reason why not to use clone() with JDK classes?

• IWebBrowser2: how to force links to open in new window?

  The MSDN documentation on WebBrowser Customization explains how to prevent new windows from being opened and how to cancel navigation. In my case, my application is hosting an IWebBrowser2 but I don't want the user to navigate to new pages within my app. Instead, I'd like to open all links in a new IE window. The desired behavior is: user clicks a link, and a new window opens with that URL. A similar question was asked and answered here and rather than pollute that answered post, it was suggested I open a new discussion. The members on the related post suggested I should be able to do this by trapping DISPID_BEFORENAVIGATE2, setting the cancel flag, and writing code to open a new window, but I've found out that the browser control gets lots of BeforeNavigate2 events that seem to be initiated by scripts on the main page. For example, amazon.com fires BeforeNavigate2 events like crazy, and they are not a result of link invocation. Replies appreciated!

  Hi, I know this has been discussed a million times. I tried searching through the forums and have seen some close regex expressions and tried to modify them but to no avail. Say there is a line in a csv file like this: "123", 456, "701 "B" Street", 910 Is there an easy regex to detect "B" (since its a non-escaped set of quotes within the normal CSV quotes) and replace it with something like \"B\" ? The final string would end up looking like this: "123", 456, "701 \"B\" Street", 910 Help would be greatly appreciated!

• Django: Can class-based views accept two forms at a time?

  If I have two forms: class ContactForm(forms.Form): name = forms.CharField() message = forms.CharField(widget=forms.Textarea) class SocialForm(forms.Form): name = forms.CharField() message = forms.CharField(widget=forms.Textarea) and wanted to use a class based view, and send both forms to the template, is that even possible? class TestView(FormView): template_name = 'contact.html' form_class = ContactForm It seems the FormView can only accept one form at a time. In function based view though I can easily send two forms to my template and retrieve the content of both within the request.POST back. variables = {'contact_form':contact_form, 'social_form':social_form } return render(request, 'discussion.html', variables) Is this a limitation of using class based view (generic views)? That is: User X is a member of groups G and F; groups G and F correlate to privileges P, Q, R and S; show me all the activities that require privileges either P, Q, R or S. How do you do this?

This is my approach: Generate pojo classes from my sybase database using hibernate in eclipse Use these pojo classes to generate the schema in mysql database Then somehow migrate the data from sybase to mysql I guess this approach should work??? Please let me know if there is any better or easier approach. The thing is I am not even able to get the first step done. • How can I synchronize database access between a write-thread and a read-thread?

  My program has two threads: Main execution thread that handles user input and queues up database writes A utility thread that wakes up every second and flushes the writes to the database Inside the main thread, I occasionally need to make reads on the database. When this happens, performance is not important, but correctness is. (In a perfect world, I would be reading from a cache, not making a round-trip to the database - but let's put that aside for the sake of discussion.) How do I make sure that the main thread sees a correct / quiescent database? A standard mutex won't work, since I run the risk of having the main thread grab the mutex before the data gets flushed to the database. This would be a big race condition. What I really want is some sort of mutex that lets the main thread of execution proceed only AFTER the mutex has been grabbed and released once. Does such a thing exist? What's the best way to solve this problem?

• Tabbed browsing, programaticaly navigating to another open tab

  Hello, I'm in a discussion with my co-worker. We have a web application in a tabbed browsing environment, say with 2 tabs open. Tab2 has a link to tab1, when I click the link, it opens tab1 in a new tab. We want to detect if tab 1 is already open, if so then set focus to tab1 (and not open a new window). He has gotten this working in a broswer window environment, but says it is not possible in a tabbed environment. Is it possible to for javascript to determine if tab1 is already open and then just set focus to that tab? Thanks in advance!

And it is not my intention to sound like a complete moron, but honestly, I have had a hard enough time figuring out just how to load an external .swf into my main file! And now my friend is asking me if I could please add a button within the external .swf which will unload itself and load a new on in its place... I have looked around in the forums for an answer for a while now and I believe it is time for me to break down, admit defeat, and ask for help. Can someone please tell me it's not that difficult..? • Exception Handling in MVP Passive View

  Hello, I'm wondering what's the preferred way to manage exceptions in an MVP implemented with a Passive View. There's a discussion in my company about putting try/catch blocks in the presenter or only in the view. In my opinion the logical top level caller is the presenter (even if the actual one is the view). Moreover I can test the presenter and not the view. This is the reason why I prefer to define a method in the view interface: IView.ShowError(error) and invoke it from the catch blocks in the presenter: try { } catch (Exception exception) { ...log exception... view.ShowError("An error occurred") } In this way the developers of future views can safely forget to implement exception handling but the IView interface force them to implement a ShowError method. The drawback is that if I want to feel completely safe I need to add redundant try/catch blocks in the view. The other way would be to add try catch blocks only in the views and not introducing the showerror method in the view interface. What do you suggest?
