• Connecting to Google SMTP with Konica Minolta Printers

  I have spent the better portion of two days trying to get a number of Bizhub MFCs to connect to Google's SMTP service. Our company recently switched from an exchange server, which handled SMTP requests to Gmail. We have 20 branches each with different MFCs. I was able to get the Cannons connected, but the Konicas are giving me major problems. The three models that are giving me issues are the C203, C250 and the C280. I have used the following: smtp.gmail.com port 465 Gmail Username/Pass aspmx.l.google.com port 25 no authentication aspmx.l.google.com port 25 Gmail Username/Pass None of these methods are working despite the fact that all of those have worked on different makes/models. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm at my whit's end.

• Resize my Google Map API

  I am new to JS, and have found the answer to a previous question, which brought up a new question, which brought me here again. I have a Reveal Modal that contains a Google Map API. When a button is clicked, the Reveal Modal pops up, and displays the Google Map. My problem is that only a third of the map is displaying. This is because a resize trigger needs to be implemented. My question is how do I implement the google.maps.event.trigger(map, 'resize')? Where do I place this little snippet of code? • Google Apps for Mail - MX entry related doubt

  I have signed up for google apps recently for my organisation. The google apps guide says that I need to edit the MX entry for my domain so that the mails get redirected to the google mail servers instead of my default mail server. But, I am having a doubt whether to edit the MX entry on my domain name provider or the hosting server. My domain name provider is godaddy.com and my server is ServInt. And, moreover, what difference does it make if I edit the MX entries on my hosting provider or my domain name provider. Thanks, niting

• Google maps KM bounds box reapplying itself on map zoom

  I have a map in which I apply a custom overlay using KMbox overlay to signify where I think the users general point of interest lies. What I want is to display this map to the user and allow them to click on the map to give me an exact location match of their POI. This all works fine except for when the user clicks on the map and changes the zoom of the map. • Change google search location beyond current country

  I often work remotely and prefer using en-us locale settings for my searches. One of our computers is located in Germany, and whenever I try to change the location in Google Search Settings, I get an answer to "Pleas enter a valid Deutschland city or zip code". I checked this post, but it doesn't apply, as my language settings en-us and the Google search language is also set to English. It clearly uses the IP address of the computer. I couldn't find an answer in the Google help pages, anyone any idea how to change it London, New-York or Amsterdam?

• Google calendar sync has stopped working

  I set up Google Calendar to sync with Lightning in Thunderbird. It has worked well for the last few weeks. It has now suddenly stopped working. I have checked the CalDAV addresses and they are all still ok. I do not know if my recent addition of syncing my new Android phone with the Google Calendar has anything to do with it, or just a coincidence. When Thunderbird tries to sync, it asks for the username and password. I enter these for the Google Calendar, and end up in a continuous circle.

In this way I've only to register a domain www.myclietdomain.com and then point that to the GoogleAppEngine application... In this way I plan to avoid hosting costs. Infact I'm paying even for hosting few static html pages... Do you think that is possible to use Google App Engine for this scope?

• Google SketchUp network licensing issue

  We have 10 licenses for Google SketchUp in my local office. We store the license file on a network drive that is accessible to all users. We've been finding that, at most, only 3 or 4 people can run it at one time before the license shows up as "expired" on another user's system. I've verified with Google that we have 10 licenses, and have downloaded updated license files from them. The only thing that I can think of is that sometimes SketchUp crashes. Could this be utilizing a license somehow without giving it up? Google has not been able to answer this question.

• Mail Server on Google Apps, Hotmail Blocks

  My company provides private research tools (sites) for companies. Each site has its own domain name and users. These sites need to be able to send outbound mail for notifications such as password reminders. We started using Google Apps for this purpose, but lately we are having tremendous problems with mailing, especially to hotmail. I added the SPF record as required. Mxtoolbox says my domains are not in any blacklists. I was told to contact https://postmaster.live.com/snds/addnetwork.aspx and add my network. Given that I am using google's mail servers for sending mail, should I add their IP address for registering my domain? Or should I add my server's IP even though I am not hosting the mail server on it? • Pass variable to Info Window in FusionTableLayer

  I am building a web application that includes a Google Map layered with data from a Google Fusion Table. I have defined the info window for the markers in the Fusion Table and all is rendering as expected, but I have one issue. I need to pass a session variable from my web application to be included in the links that are defined in the info window, but can't seem to find a way to do this.   We currently migrated from exchange to Google Apps Email and have been having issues when it comes to viewing shared calendars from within Outlook. Users are able to view other calendars from within the Google calendar tool but they cannot see these calendars in Outlook. It appears that users with the "Manage Changes" permission are able to view other calendars but they are also able to see any private appointments that a user has created as well. Is anyone aware of any 3rd party tools or workarounds that allow users to view shared calendars within Outlook without having to use the Google calendar tool?

• Can I edit the snapshots of websites on most visited sites page in Chrome?

  I saw the previous chain of discussion, but did not find a way to continue the thread - I have found the "Preference" (I have Windows 7), but in that, I did not find clearly what to modify. I did find a section called 'URLs pinned" or something like this, but it did NOT match fully the ones I have. I have activated the 'profile sync' for Chrome - don't know if it has any effect. Can you manually edit the icons of the most visited sites, for the new tab page in Chrome? When you open a new tab in Chrome, I get the 'new page' tab, where I selected the 'most popular', so I have 8 icons with the 8 most popular sites I visited; I can also pin any one of those I see on screen, such that they remain 'permanent' there. We are missing one which would point to, say, "hotmail". So, I was looking for a way to add 'hotmail' to be one of the 8. (and, by the way, we ticked the 'X' on one of those 8, and now it remains grey / shows nothing in it). So, my double-question: How can I add a URL of my choice into one of those 8 spaces? How can I restore usage of the last one?

• Is there a way to extract a "private certificate key" from Chrome and import it into Firefox ?

  This is a classical Catch-22 situation. I was using online banking the other day under Chrome. I had to order a digital certificate so that I could extend my privileges. The stupid thing is that when I got approved and opened the certificate installation menu, I saw only versions for IE/Firefox available. What the heck, I said, and chose FF - the result I got was Error 202 - ERR:CERT:INVALID. I opened FF, got to the same page, and tried to install the damn thing from there, but got a message basically saying that I must have been given a private key which obviously FF doesn't find. I read a bit, and it turned out that I really must have been given such a key but only to the browser that I ordered the cert with, i.e. Chrome. The worst thing is that if I deactivate my order, and reissue a new cert, this time from FF, I MUST go to a bank office (!!!WTF), but I am currently studying abroad, so I can't just go back. Is there a way, that I could extract that key from Chrome's profile, and import it into FF under Windows ? I will be glad to know

• Swap, Swapiness and Standby: swapping starts when waking up

  I'm running running Ubuntu 12.04 on a Lenovo W500 (Core2Duo T9400, 4GB Ram) Current kernel: 3.2.0-32-generic #51-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 26 21:33:09 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux -- but the problems exists since a couple of months, surviving quite a few software (includig kernel) updates I regularly put my machine into suspend-to-ram (S3) and when the machine comes back up Ubuntu starts to swap out processes. I was able to observe that the used swap-space starts to grow right after the box returns. See munin graphs below, the gap (obviously) shows the timeframe in STR. Needless to say that the box becomes unusable while swapping, load goes up beyond 10. What I've done so far: lowered swappiness from default (60) to 10 (via /etc/sysctl.conf: vm.swappiness=10) -- this has improved the situation much, but sometimes the problem comes back, I have not found a trigger (like memory usage) for this for now lowered swappiness to 5 -- perhaps this has brought an improvement again Before going to STR the box ran stable without (swapping) problems for hours. Today when the issue showed up again I used this script (- http://stackoverflow.com/questions/479953/how-to-find-out-which-processes-are-swapping-in-linux) to find what processes have the most used swap space.   Today while playing with Google Chrome Omnibox, I notice a strange behavior. I guess there's some "hidden" web standard behind it, but can't figure it out. Here's how to reproduce: Go to http://edition.cnn.com/ Use the search function at the higher right corner, Search a random keyword, for example: "abc" Close the tabs. Open a new tab, type until Chrome reminds you about http://edition.cnn.com/, then press "Tab" The Omnibox now shows "Search CNN.com"! And when you type "abc" and press Enter, it uses the CNN search function to do the job, not Google! I also tried it for several different sites. To some it won't work. But to some sites, like CNN, vnexpress.net, it works after I use the search function of that site once. I also learnt about chrome://settings/searchEngines (type it in your chrome box and you will see), and learnt about you can add custom search engine in chrome. But the question is, why Chrome can realize the search URL automatically to some pages, and not others? It's not because some site subscribe to Google service, because I can do the same method for my site (http://ledohoanglong.wordpress.com), and I'm sure that there's no subscription. So I guess there's a method to "expose" the search function of a site, so that Google Chrome can catch it (after I call the search function of that site once, of courses). Does anyone know about how it works behind the scene?

• How do I resolve "conflicting accounts" in google apps without breaking links to online photos on picasa?

  I have been using google apps for some time, and only recently learned I have what google calls "conflicting accounts" which is creating a problem I haven't been able to resolve. Turns out that the apps account really only covers email, google docs, and the calendar and not other features like picasa, blogger, youtube etc. and at some point they gave me a non-apps google account with my same (proprietary non-gmail) email address for the additional apps. This is the "conflicting account." I had noticed that I sometimes had to come in through another door when I went back and forth, between docs, picasa, and mail let's say, but never understood why since it was the same username and password and I didn't get any communication about it at the time. Google is now in the process of giving google apps users access to the additional apps and providing instructions for consolidating the two accounts. But if I want to move my picasa site into the new apps structure I have to download my albums and re-synch them. This would be disastrous for me as I have hundreds of photos embedded in my websites, and new web addresses would break all the connections. The alternative seems to be to rename my "personal" (non-apps) accounts as described at http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=185186: Users with conflicting Google Accounts can easily resolve their conflicts by renaming their personal Google Accounts, and the data in their personal accounts will remain safe and accessible to them. Here’s how a user can rename their personal Google Account: * Step 1: Visit www.google.com/accounts and sign in with your personal Google Account * Step 2: Click ‘Change email’ under ‘Personal Settings’ * Step 3: Enter a different email address where you can receive mail, enter your password, and click ‘Save email address’ * Step 4: Check your other email If your users don’t have different email addresses where they can receive mail, they can resolve the conflict by renaming their personal Google Accounts to @gmail.com addresses instead. Sounds easy enough, right? I gave them a gmail address. The wizard said "sorry you can't use a gmail account for this" --which contradicts the last paragraph above but ok, I switched to a new email address I just created for one of my domains. I can send email back and forth between this account and my google apps account with no problem. But when I try to use it as a replacement on the "personal" side I always get "The password you gave is incorrect." I have tried it over and over and know the password is correct. Since I like to get all my emails though one web interface I initially had the new email set up as an add-on to my google apps email account, but noting that the instructions said the "personal account" email could not be associated with any other gmail account I took it off and went back to accessing it via horde so there would be no conflict there, which seemed to make no difference. I can't figure out why it won't accept the password. Does anyone have any thoughts about that? or suggestions for another way to resolve my picasa problem? any help at all is greatly appreciated. • Why does Windows Firewall want to block Google Chrome today?

  I've been using the same public Wi-Fi (staying in a guesthouse) for over a week now. But this morning for the first time I got this puzzling warning from Windows Firewall: Why does Windows Firewall want to block one of the world's most popular web browsers today after being fine with it for years, and being fine with it on this connection for a week? Could it hinge on the words, some features? If so could it be something like a rare or new feature of Chrome that uses a different HTTP port? And if so why doesn't the security alert tell me any more about it? Or could it be a known bug in Windows Firewall? Or perhaps a known virus etc attaching itself to Google Chrome? Or is there a chance it's related to "Other browser makers follow Google's lead, revoke rogue certificates"? I haven't restarted Chrome for days and have downloaded but not installed a Windows update from a few days ago. So I'm not sure what may have managed to change on my machine since yesterday.
