  • Windows API BackupRead failing with error 50 on Windows Storage Server 2008 R2

    We have a backup application that uses the Windows API BackupRead. It works correctly on Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2. It does not work on Storage Server 2008 R2. It always fails with error 50 - The request is not supported. The documentation for BackupRead gives no indication that it will not work with Storage Server 2008 R2. Anyone else have any experience using this API on Storage Server 2008 R2?

  • apt-get 403 Forbidden

    I've start a new job today and I am trying to set up my machine to run through their Windows server. I've managed to get a internet connection through the server now but now I can't run apt-get update as I get a "403 Forbidden" error. This is for every repo under my source list, apart from translations(?). I do have a proxy in apt.conf, if I don't have it I get a 407 Permission Denied error.     I got the following problem. I have written a C-Extension to Python to interface a self written software library. Unfortunately I need to return two values from the C function where the last one is optional. In Python the equivalent is def func(x,y): return x+y, x-y test = func(13,4) #only the first value is used In my C extension I use return Py_BuildValue("ii",x+y,x-y); which results in a tuple. If I now try to access the return value from Python via test2 = cfunc(13,4) print(test2) I got a tuple instead of only the first return value. How is possible to build the same behavior as in Python from C Extension?

  • Has RFC2324 been implemented?

    I know RFC2324 was an April Fools joke. However, it seems pretty well thought out, and after reading it I figured it wouldn't be out of the question to design an automated coffee machine that used this extension to HTTP. We programmers love to reference this RFC when arguing web standards ("418 I'm a Teapot lolz!") but the joke's kind of on us. Ubiquitous computing research assumes that network-connected coffee machines are probably going to be quite common in the future, along with Internet-connected fruit and just about everything else. Has anyone actually implemented a coffee machine that is controlled via HTCPCP? Not necessarily commercial, but hacked together in a garage, maybe? I'm not talking about just a web server that responds to HTCPCP requests; I mean a real coffee machine that actually makes coffee. I haven't seen an example of that.

I decided to rewrite a library I wrote in PHP to access Zune user data. I got it finished and decided to put it on github. Usage is simple: zuneCard = ZuneCard('ZuneTagHere') You can access things like user information, favorites, recent plays, and most played. The properties are documented (pydoc, under /docs).     My update manager told me that it has not checked for updates in the past 18 days, so I clicked the "check" button. It works just fine until a certain point where it says "Downloading release". The loading bar moves across the screen for a while on that message, then it just stops and says to check my Internet connection.   • Marshalling the value of a char* ANSI string DLL API parameter into a C# string

    For those who do not mix .NET C# code with legacy DLL's that use char* pointers on a regular basis, the process to convert the strings one way or the other is non-obvious. This is not a comprehensive article on the topic at all, but rather an example of something that took me some time to go find, maybe it will save someone else the time. I am utilizing a third party too that uses a call back function to inform my application of its progress.  This callback includes a pointer that under some circumstances is a pointer to an ANSI character string.  I just need to marshal it into a C# string variable.  Seems pretty simple, yes?  Well, it is, (as are most things, once you know how to do them). The parameter of my callback function is of type IntPtr, which implies it is an integer representation of a pointer.  If I know the pointer is pointing to a simple ANSI string, here is a simple static method to copy it to a C# string: private static string GetStringFromCharStar(IntPtr ptr) {     return System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.PtrToStringAnsi(ptr); } The System.Runtime.InteropServices is where to look any time you are mixing legacy unmanaged code with your .NET application.

    I came across an exercise (in the book "The Art and Science of Java" by Eric Roberts) that requires using only GArc and GLine classes to create a lettering library which draws your initials on the canvas. This should be made independent of the GLabel class. I'd like to know the correct approach to use in solving this problem. I'm not sure what I have so far is good enough (I'm thinking it's too long).     A have a redirect rule in my .htaccess that forwards agent from A.html to B.html using the following pattern: Redirect 301 /A.html http://mysite.com/B.html Since the Redirect directive requires to set the target host, is it possible to let this rule prevail only on a specific host? I have both a test and deploy domain, and only want it on the deploy domain. I can set HTTP conditions for Rewrite rules, but how can I for HTTP Redirects?

  • IIS: redirect everything to another URL, except for one Directory

    I have an IIS server (IIS 6, Win 2003) that hosts the site http://www.foo.com. I want any request to http://foo.com (no matter what path/filename is used) to redirect to http://www.bar.org/AwesomePage.html UNLESS the request is for http://www.foo.com/specialdir, in which case the HTML files in the local directory specialdir should be used. The problem I have is once the redirect is set it also affects /specialdir - even if I right click on that directory and select "content should come from ... local directory" that change does not take effect, and the directory still shows as redirecting to http://www.bar.org/AwesomePage.html. The same thing happens if I try to set individual files to load from the local system instead of redirecting - IIS gives no error, but the change does not take effect and the files still show as being redirected. How can I set specialdir to override the redirection to the new URL?

    I am trying to set up the admin application for a Tomcat 6.0.24 instance. None of the searches I've done turn up anything I can use. The manager.xml is the default provided with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04: <Context path="/manager" docBase="/usr/share/tomcat6-admin/manager" antiResourceLocking="false" privileged="true" /> If I access /manager from a web browser, I get a 404 error from Tomcat: "requested resource not available." If I access /manager/images I get the same thing. If I access /manager/401.jsp I get the actual page. In addition, the server.xml has not only the usual Realm (UserDatabaseRealm) but also one for MySQL authentication (JDBCRealm). Investigating this showed that the role of manager was not present there for the user admin; I fixed that by doing: INSERT USER_ROLE_DB SET USER_NAME='admin', ROLE_NAME='manager'; I restarted Tomcat, although I suspect that was overkill. No change. I don't see any errors in catalina.out or in localhost.* log files. What am I missing? What is the interaction between the different realms? How do I get the manager application working?

    I am trying to use wget and http to download all contents from folderAA below to directory /root/sstest wget -r --directory-prefix="/root/sstest" -o /root/sstest2.log http://site.com/folder1/folder2/folderAA/ When I submit the above command nothing is downloaded. If I submit a wget request for a specific file from folderAA the file is actually downloaded to /root/sstest: wget -r --directory-prefix="/root/sstest" -o /root/sstest2.log http://site.com/folder1/folder2/folderAA/file.txt Can someone tell me why I cannot download all file content from folderAA at once using the first wget request?

  • Connect to MySQL on remote server from inside python script (DB API)

    Very recently I have started to write python scripts that need to connect few databases on mySQL server. The problem is that when I work from office my script works fine but running a script from my home while on office VPN generates connection error. I also noticed the mySQL client Squirrel also cannot connect from my home but works fine on Office computer. I think both are giving problem for the same reason. Do I need to create a ssh tunnel and forward the port? If yes how do I do it? mySQL is installed on server I have ssh access. Please help me on this AK
