• Asp.net Report Viewer - Custom filter parameters

  Hi all, for a data warehouse project I need to know about some best practices regarding custom report viewer filters/parameters. Usually I use the standard parameter feature for reports, like multiple select boxes, check boxes, text boxes etc.. But for the current project some reports require more complex report parameters. E.g. a user wants to analyze some measures. For that the user needs to set a filter on a specific address. There are over 100.000 address to choose from, so he has to have the ability to search for an address (full text). Since such features cannot be done with the standard parameters, I will have to create custom params within a ASPX page which are then passed to the report viewer control. So my question is: Are there any best practices on how to create custom parameters? Did anyone had similar problems, if so, how did you solve it?

  Using Javascript / jQuery, I'm trying to build a "combination checker" that will take the values of three (but can be more) dropdown lists and filter the options based on a supplied list of allowed combinations. For example: DROPDOWNS Field 1: - value_1 - value_2 Field 2: - value_3 Field 3: - value_4 - value_5 COMBINATIONS - value_1, value_3, value_5 - value_1, value_3, value_4 - value_2, value_3, value_5 When a user selects Field 3 - value_4, the unavailable options will be disabled - ie, Field 1 - value_2 (there is no combination that allows value_2 and value_4 to be selected together). It would be really great if someone could provide some pointers on how this can be achieved or just provide a fresh perspective - I'm going round in circles on this one!

• iPhone audio Filter Question

  Okay, I am going to try to make this totally not a "plz send teh codez kthxbai" I am considering an app which takes sound (eventually an audio track) and applies an audio filter to it. So I can play sounds with AudioServicesPlaySystemSound via AudioToolbox framework just fine. What I need is a very simple example of how I might take a sound and apply (for instance) midrange boost etc. Actually the kind of alteration is irrelevant -- if I can get my head around how the alteration is done I can figure out the rest. I am just finding both docs and examples of altering audio in code to be very scarce. Thanks for any help!

  I just recently got the approval to upgrade our project from .NET 1.1. to .NET 4. I loaded up the project in Visual Studio 2010 and I've got it compiled and working. However as is to be expected there are over 3000 warnings I need to start looking at and handling. The problem is this solution has about 20 projects in it. So what I'd like to be able to do is filter the warnings on project. So I could say only show warnings for this project. Does anyone know if this is possible in Visual Studio 2010 or if there is an add-on I can add?

Maybe I am getting the idea of a subclass wrong, but I have a Person model and it has an attrib called "age" so Person.first.age #=> '20' Now I want to have a model that's basically persons 55 or older so I know I can have a class like this: class Senior < Person end But how can I "pre-filter" the Senior class so that every object belonging to that class has age = 55? Senior.first.age #=> 56 Thanks!

  Hi. I want to launch my own media player application when I want to watch a video from Youtube. When I write android:scheme="http" and android:host="m.youtube.com" it is OK. But, it asks everywhere in m.youtube.com to open my app. So, it gets annoying. I tried to use pathPattern, pathPrefix and path to solve this but I didn't get ahead. All I want is clearly this: When the link is like "http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F%gl=US#" the intent filter shouldn't launch my app. When the link is like "http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?xl=xl_blazer&v=k3Cdqx1qFX8" my application should be launched. Is there anyone that can help me?

  I have a datatable that has many NULL or " " strings. Next I am type casting the DataTable to a list . Now if I want to filter those conditions on this list and get the resultant value(without NULL or String.Empty or " " records) what should I do? My code DataTableExtensions.AsEnumerable(dt).ToList().ForEach(i => { if (i[0] != null) { if ((i[0].ToString() != string.Empty)|| (i[0].ToString() != " ")) { list = dt.AsEnumerable().ToList(); } } }); But I am getting all the records.   I've created a search with a couple of comboboxes that allow users to filter their search results. The results are currently using a TileList & itemRenderer to display, and now I'd like to add an animation effect when the user filters their results. I know that you can use the itemsChangeEffect to create an animation effect when the user drags and moves result itmes. So I'd like to know if there's a way to create a similar effect triggered by the filtering on the comboboxes? Thanks.

  Hi all I dont know if its a django bug or a feature but i have a strange ORM behaviour with MySQL. class Status(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length = 50) class Article(models.Model) status = models.ForeignKey(status, blank = True, null=True) filters = Q(status__in =[0, 1,2] ) | Q(status=None) items = Article.objects.filter(filters) this returns Article items but some have other status than requested [0,1,2,None] looking at the sql query : SELECT [..] FROM `app_article` LEFT OUTER JOIN `app_status` ON (`app_article`.`status_id` = `app_status`.`id`) WHERE (`app_article`.`status_id` IN (1, 2) OR `app_status`.`id` IS NULL) ORDER BY [...] the OR app_status.id IS NULL part seems to be the cause. if i change it to OR app_article.status_id IS NULL it works correctly. • How do I use a named_scope to filter records in my model

  I have a model "Product" with a "description" field. Now I want to have a link in the index page that when clicked will show all products where the description is blank (empty). In the model I have defined a named_scope like this named_scope :no_description, :conditions => { :description => "" } I have checked that the named_scope works by calling Product.no_description.count on the console. As far as I know, the controller is then supposed to handle the filter request from the link on the "index" action but be able to distinguish it from the default which is view all products. def index @products = Product.all ... My problem is getting the controller handle the different request, what route to setup for the link on the view and the actual link on the view. Hope I explained my problem.

  I've written code to smooth an image using a 3x3 averaging filter, however the output is strange, it is almost all black.   Having some problems with my Silverlight app (with RIA services) filtering my results. The idea is on the client I set up the EntityQuery and its filters and call load. However this isn't working for me. Heres my code. public void FireQuery(string filterValue) { EntityQuery<Parent> query = m_ParentDomainContext.GetParentQuery(); query = query.Where(p => p.Children.Any(c => c.Name.Contains(filterValue))); m_ParentDomainContext.Load(query, Query_Completed, null); } Compiles just fine, however, runtime I get "Query operator 'Any' is not supported." Exception. Does anyone know of a good way to filter like this? Again, I'm looking for a way to set this up on the client.

  Hello, I'm making a hit counter. I have a database and I store the IP and $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']; of the visitors. Now I need to add a filter, so I can put away the hits, that are made by bots. I found out, that many bots usually keep some common words in the $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']; , so I's like to make and array of words, that would keep the bot from displaying in the results. Here is what I have now: while($row = mysql_fetch_array($yesterday, MYSQL_ASSOC)) { <-- Here I need a code, that would run through an array and check, if it containts the keywords and if it doesn't ... just count++; -- } Also if you know any other way of detecting and removing the bots from the results, I'd be verry thankful. That is to say the first row in the matrix {10,23,16,20,2,4} has 4 numbers from arr, this array should be grouped with the rest of the rows with 4 numbers from arr. better to use linq, thank you very much!

  It seems to work ok but I don't know if this can be impoved on or not. I want to select any HTML tag that has a class of edit-text-NUM or edit-html-NUM and change the color of it. Here is what I am using... jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('*') .filter(function() { return this.className.match(/edit-(text|html)-\d/); }) .css({ 'color': '#ff0000' }); }); Does that look ok and is the regex ok? *edit: Also is this efficient? I am aware that using jQuery('*') might be a bit of a hog if it's a large page. It only has to work from <body> down so maybe it could be changed?

• NAT: Exposing SQL Server 2008 Express to the internet

  Hi, I have a Windows Server 2003 SP2 machine with SQL Server 2008 Express installed. I have my network configured with a NAT. Internal clients can access the instance of SQL Server without a problem. I would like to enable SQL Server to be accessible from anywhere on the the internet. I am not sure how to allow my NAT firewall to allow that. I tried adding the port 1443 to it but I still can't access it from a remote machine. How can you make a given SQL Server available to the WAN? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

• Cisco VPN Connection - No internet no nothing

  Hi all, Sorry if this has been posted, I tried searching but I am not exactly sure what I am looking for, I am a developer not a networking guy. We have a client whom we need to use Cisco VPN client to connect to their servers. I have installed the software, dropped in the provided .pcf file, and I can connect. However, when I do, I lose all local and internet capabilities, no hosts resolve, and I still can't connect to their internal FTP and development sites. This leads me to believe either a setting is wrong in my Cisco software, and/or their network is not correctly configured. Does anyone know anything about Cisco VPN'ing that can give me a hand? My colleague seems to indicate that they need to enable split tunneling on their end (or a similar setting).

• Oracle Internet Directory - Required Schemas already loaded

  After a successful installation of Oracle Internet Directories (OID) I attemped to remove and re-install it with a different configuration. First I ran ./runInstaller.sh -deinstall from the OID middleware directory to uninstall. Then i ran the installer again but it complained on the Specify Schema Database step. Upon connecting to the database, the installer threw: INST-5174: Required schemas are already loaded in the specified database. I connected to the target database and removed the OID schemas I knew of SQL> drop user ODS cascade; SQL> drop user ODSSM cascade; That didn't not work and the error still appears. What steps am I missing? Note: The Database is 11g and it was brand new before installing OID so there is no other data select * from all_users doesn't show any other schemas related to OID from what I can tell, the latest user creation date is OCT 2010

• AVG 9 (Internet Security Business Edition) and IIS 6.0

  Are any of you using AVG 9 Internet Security Business Edition along with IIS 6.0 and if so have you experienced problems? We just went from 8.5 to 9.0... Luckily I tried on only one of the servers in the web farm first to run for a week to make sure it played well with my servers. A few hours after the install all web apps were giving a "connection refused" error. Neither iisrest or restarting world wide web publishing services resolves the issue, only rebooting the machine brings the webs back up. They are all ASP.Net sites by the way (v2.5). What's interesting is if I take the machine out of the load balancer, the machine runs fine and the webs are just fine for days... as soon as i put it back in the pool it's only a few hours before its sad. The only thing I can think of right now is that the Resident Shield may be causing an issue, any thoughts?

• KVM-Guests can't get past bridge - no internet connection

  I'm running a backported KVM on a Debian Squeeze. ATM the KVM-Guest can't connect to the internet through the bridge I have set up. The guests can reach each other, the host but nothing outside. I can neither ping, nslookup or do anything to a remote address. The guest are configured to have a static IP. When I didn;t have the bridge but a virtual bridge (the KVM-default) the guest could connect fine.
