  • Fetch and load a whole page with AJAX

    I realize that it's generally not a good idea to do this but the reason why I want to is because it's a really heavy page and I want to show the user progress of the download and when it's done load the page. I can either do this with some kind of spinner but is it possible for me to show the actual progress? Can I see how much and what data has been downloaded? Let's say I use jQuery for the AJAX-request how do I do this? If you have other suggestions please feel free to suggest.

    Hey, I am onto a task in which i have to create a link in a doccument library either upload or new link,clicking on which a form/page "not infopath" will get open and allow to upload the doccument and along with that we have some text boxes on the same page which will be asking for the properties of the doccument(like "Customer of the doccument","content Developer") and after filling up all of the things when user click on submit than in the doccument library the value of the url as well as properties comes into the columns/fields of the doccument library. Can anyone have the solution for this?

    Hi, I'm learning ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and need to implement an asynchronous/dynamic page update. I'm new to MVC and jQuery so I'm not sure what to look for. What I want to do is to allow a user to start a monitoring a domain layer function (similar to a news ticker) and then do a partial page update based on the continously changing results. In ASP.NET I'd do this with a javascript timer to cause a postback, and an AJAX update panel..... but this seems a bit "hacky" for ASP.NET MVC. Is there a better way?

    Basically all pages on this site I am building cannot be accessed when the user clicks on "Back" (or with key control) in the browser, and the page should expire if one is trying to navigate back in history. I put into Global.asax::Application_BeginRequest Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache) Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.UtcNow.AddDays(-1)) Response.Cache.SetValidUntilExpires(False) Response.Cache.SetRevalidation(HttpCacheRevalidation.AllCaches) Response.Cache.SetNoStore() This would clear out the cache and disallow going back to any pages when the user is logged out, but doesn't do the job while the user is logged in. I saw posts where people suggested using a javascript approach, by calling History.Forward(1) on the page. But I wouldn't like to do this, as it will require javascript enabled to work (which user can disable). Appreciate any suggestions.

  • Getting All categories in external page.

    This is very basic magento question i guess. I want to first get all the store categories, then loop through them to get their sub-categories and products and similarly continue till the last sub-category. I will be using this in an external page having Mage::app() declared at the top of the page. I am not aware of the Magento API's(if thats wat they are called) to use to get this functionality. Remember I am not using this in any of the templates, so something like getCurrentCategory() will not work here i guess. Also please guide if there are any good resources to search for particular functionality in magento and API's to implement it, or am i doomed to go through their phpdoc to know the list of methods. Any help here will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

I want to avoid using cache because for this to work it must first load all the content. I was searching online for possible solution.     Hi guys, I wrote a Flex application that sends a UrlRequest to Facebook and gets the content of page as a string. The application user clicks a button, and the application connects to Facebook. And no I do not mean using Facebook API. It is like a screen scraper. This application worked locally, but when deployed to server it gives a sandbox security error. I have my crossdomain.xml on the root, but I think the problem is not that. Not only Facebook, but I cannot get any web site when the application is deployed on server. What should I do to get the content of a remote web page?

    When viewing the admin change list for a model, is it possible to make the columns that correspond to foreign keys links to their respective pages? A simple example is I have a Foo object which contains Bar as a foreign key. If I'm viewing the admin change list for Foo (and have it set to include Bar in the display_list columns), the main column would link to the Foo instance's edit page while the Bar column would link to the Boo instance's edit page. I understand I can override the template that's used, but I was curious if there was a solution that didn't require that.

    Hi, I have this PHP piece of code that gets $_GET['id'] (a number) and do some stuff with this. When its finished I need to increase that number ($_GET['id']) and redirect to the same page but with the new number (also using $_GET['id']). I am doing something like this: $ID = $_GET['id']; // Some stuff here // and then: $newID = $ID++; header('Location: http://localhost/something/something.php?id='.$newID); exit; The problem here is that the browser stop me from doing it and I get this error from the browser (Firefox) : "The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." Some help here please!

I've been told that shadow page tables are then used directly by the processor's paging hardware to allow memory access in the VM to execute without translation overhead. I would like to understand a bit more about how the shadow page table mechanism works in a VMM. Is my high level understanding above correct? What kind of data structures are used in the implementation of shadow page tables? What is the flow of control from the guest operating system all the way to the hardware? How are memory access translations made for a guest operating system before its shadow page table is populated? How is page sharing supported? Short of straight up reading the source code of an open source VMM, what resources can I look into to learn more about hardware virtualization?

    I am using the ToolkitScriptManager from the Ajax tool kit and I am having a problem finding my button's ID. My ID's on my controls come back with $ symbols instead of _ symbols, like the following: Grid$ctl06$insertButton This obviously causes problems when attempting to find the control from the Page.Request.Form keys. I cannot seem to find the determining factor that would cause this. Now, I know this is the name and in my source I see that the ID is with the _, so why is the Page.Request.Form showing up with the $ symbol instead? Anybody encounter this before?

    I have a paged ASP.NET ListView. The data shown is filtered, which can be controlled by a form. When the filter form changes, I create a new query, and perform a DataBind. The problem however, when I go to the next page, and set a filter, the ListView shows "No data was returned". That is not weird, because after the filter is applied, there is only one page of data. So what I want to do is reset the pager. Is that a correct solution to the problem? And how do I do that?

    How do I add let's say something like ajax=1 to all links on my page with jquery. I will also need to check if the url has existing parameters. for example "http://mysite.com/index.php?pl=132" will have to become "http://mysite.com/index.php?pl=132&ajax=1" Also, if the link does not have any parameters, for example "http://mysite.com/index.php", it will become "http://mysite.com/index.php?ajax=1" I want to load the jquery script on document ready so all links are changed on page load.     Not sure if this is against stackoverflow rules as it's not a specific code question but I really need a little help. I want to know if it is possible to create a search feature (search box) on an HTML webpage that will query a database and return the results? Basically I have a database of products and their related categories. A user would come to the website, enter the category in the search field...somehow query the database and return the results on a new page. Note: the results page doesn't have to be HTML (could be PHP etc). If you could also include a little guidance on how (please nothing detailed, just need a direction). Thank you!

I just added my data fields to the details section, but instead of showing all the rows in one page, a new page is created for each row. I did not use any grouping or change the section paging settings. This only happens for a blank report, when using the report wizard it works fine, but I can't see the difference between what I did and what the report wizard did.

But there's something happening when i click ctrl+r in firefox for represhing the page. I got this confim dialog : "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier" my question what is it, (this confirm dialog ?) what i have to do on my code so it able to suppress this dialog ?
