  • Facebook IFrame Application issues for certain users

    We have a strange issue with running an Facebook IFrame application (using MVC 2). When I run my app and log into Facebook, I get to the application just fine. But when my coworker does it, she gets the following error: API Error Code: 100 API Error Description: Invalid parameter Error Message: Requires valid next URL. Typically this error is resolved by updating the "New Data Permissions" setting of the Facebook application. However, in this case it doesn't help. We've also tried logging in with our accounts from different computers and it seems that neither computer nor which one the MVC ASP.NET app is running from matters. The only difference is who is logged into Facebook. We've looked at our Facebook account settings, but couldn't find any obvious differences. We both have Developer access to the FB application and we both can edit its settings. However, only one of us can actually run the application without getting the above mentioned error message. Any idea what could be happening here?

  • Application.ProcessMessages hangs???

    my single threaded delphi 2009 app (not quite yet complete) has started to have a problem with Application.ProcessMessages hanging. my app has a TTimer object that fires every 100 ms to poll an external device. i use Application.ProcessMessages to update the screen when something changes so the app is still responsive. one of these was in a grid OnMouseDown event. in there, it had an Application.ProcessMessages that essentially hung. removing that was no problem except that i soon discovered another Application.ProcessMessages that was also blocking. i think what may be happening to me is that the TTimer is--in the app mode i'm currently debugging--probably taking too long to complete. i have prevented the TTimer.OnTimer event hander from re-entering the same code (see below): procedure TfrmMeas.tmrCheckTimer(Sender: TObject); begin if m_CheckTimerBusy then exit; m_CheckTimerBusy:=true; try PollForAndShowMeasurements; finally m_CheckTimerBusy:=false; end; end; what places would it be a bad practice to call Application.ProcessMessages? OnPaint routines springs to mind as something that wouldn't make sense. any general recommendations? i am surprised to see this kind of problem arise at this point in the development!

  • Application design question, best approach?

    Hello, I am in the process of designing an application that will allow you to find pictures (screen shots) made from certain programs. I will provide the locations of a few of the program in the application itself to get the user started. I was wondering how I should go about adding new locations as the time goes on, my first thought was simply hard coding it into the application but this will mean the user has to reinstall it to make the changes take affect. My second idea was to use an XML file to contain all the locations as well as other data, such as the name of the application. This also means the user can add their own locations if they wish as well as sharing them over the internet. The second option seemed the best approach but then I had to think how would it be managed on the users computer. Ideally I'd like just a single .exe without the reliance on any external files such as the XML but this would bring me back to point one. Would it be best to simply use the ClickOnce deployment to create an entry in the start menu and create a folder containing the .exe and the file names? Thanks for the feedback, I don't want to start implementing the application until the design is nailed.

    Does anyone have any advice for migrating a PowerBuilder 10 business application to .NET? My company is considering migrating a legacy PB application to .NET (C#) and I am just wondering if anyone has any experience - good or bad - that you would like to share. The application is rather large with 10 PBL libraries, some PFC as well as custom frameworks. There are a large number of DLL calls being made as well. Finally, it uses a Microsoft SQL Server database. We have discussed porting the "core" application code to .NET and then porting more advanced functionality across as-needed.

  • Web application design with distributed servers

    I want to build a web application/server with this structure: main-server sub-server transaction-server (create, update, delete) view-server (view, search) authentication-server documents-server reporting-server library-server e-learning-server The main-server acts as host server for sub-server. I can add many sub-servers and connect it to main-server (via plug-play interface maybe), then it can begin querying data from another sub-servers (which has been connected to the main-server). The sub-servers can be anywhere as long as connected to internet. The main-server can manage all sub-servers which are connected to it (query data, setting permission between sub-servers, etc). The purpose is simple, the web application will be huge as the company grows, so I want to distribute it into small connected plug-able servers. My question is, does the structure above already have a standardized method? or are there any different views? what are the technologies needed? I need a lot of researches before the execution plan begin. thanks a lot.

  • What caused the rails application crash?

    I'm sure someone can explain this. we have an application that has been in production for an year. recently we saw an increase in number of support requests for people having difficulty signing into the system. after scratching our head because we couldn't recreate the problem in development, we decided we'll switch on debug logger in production for a month. that was june 5th. application worked fine with the above change and we were waiting. then yesterday we noticed that the log files were getting huge so we made another change in production config.logger = Logger.new("#{RAILS_ROOT}/log/production.log", 50, 1048576) after this change, the application started crashing while processing a particular file. this particular line of code was RAILS_DEFAULT_LOGGER.info "Payment Information Request: ", request.inspect as you can see there was a comma instead of a plus sign. this piece of code was introduced in Mar. the question is this: why did the application fail now? if changing the debug level caused the application to process this line of code it should have started failing on june 5th! why today. please someone help us. Are we missing the obvious here? if you dont have an answer, at least let us know we aren't the only one that are bonkers.

    I have a problem regarding running my application with a Distribution certificate. The application will work fine with a Development certificate on my iPod Touch. Once I change the Code Signing Identity to a Distribution certificate and specify an Entitlements file, the application crashes on launch. Is there anything I can do to correct this?     Hi, I'm using org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet and org.springframework.ws.transport.http.MessageDispatcherServlet In the same app but each is loading own application contexts, I need to load all beans in a single application context. The application consists of typical layers webappdao etc What I have tried is to use one single spring-root-context.xml by setting it in the contextConfigLocation. But didn't help, this has been an issue for me for a long time an I would appreciate any help with this. Any online references would be a great help. Regards Ramo

    What is the easiest way to have an application launch at startup on Ubuntu server as daemon? This is a java application (java com.run.run.Run) etc. How would I have it launch as a user and possibly have access to write to some log file where the user has permissions to write? And if I don't end up doing that, how would I launch the application as the root user at startup. Edited: It is a headless server, I don't have access to the desktop applications.

  • Android: Having trouble creating a subclass of application to share data with multiple Activities

    Hello, I just finished a couple of activities in my game and now I was going to start to wire them both up to use real game data, instead of the test data I was using just to make sure each piece worked. Since multiple Activities will need access to this game data, I started researching the best way to pass this data to my Activities. I know about using putExtra with intents, but my GameData class has quite a bit of data and not just simple key value pairs. Besides quite a few basic data types, it also has large arrays. I didn't really want to try and pass all that, unless I can pass the entire object, instead of just key/data pairs. I read the following post and thought it would be the way to go, but so far, I haven't got it to work. Android: How to declare global variables? I created a simple test app to try this method out, but it keeps crashing and my code seems to look the same as in the post above - except I changed the names. Here is the error I am getting.   • Run chromium-browser on Linux with fullscreen and application modes ON

    Some time ago chromium-browser was supporting a so called "kiosk mode", which could start chromium in fullscreen and removed unnecessary titlebar and some other UI components. Right now it looks like it's no longer supported. After few updates the same script that I was using for launching kiosk mode is not behaving the same. I checked some sites and learned that recently they introduced a so called "application mode" (--app=http://mysite.com). All cool and neat, but application mode does no longer enforce fullscreen. How could I force chromium-browser to behave exactly as in previous kiosk mode?

  • LDAP/AD Integrated Group/Membership Management Package suitable for embedding in an application

    In several web applications, it is often necessary to define groups of users for purposes of membership as well as role management. For example, in one of our applications we would like to user a group of "Network Engineers" and another group that consists of "Managers" of such Network Engineers. The information we need is contact details of members of each group. So far, we have written our own tools to allow the administrator of the application to add/delete/move groups and their memberships and either store them in a XML file or a database. Increasingly, companies already have the groups we want defined in LDAP/AD, so it would be best to create a pointer in our application to the correspoding group in LDAP. Although there are a number of LDAP libraries and LDAP browsers available and we could code this and provide a web front end to get a list of available groups and their members, we are wondering if there is already a "component framework" available that would readily provide this LDAP browsing functionality that we could just embed this into our application. Something between a library and a full LDAP browser product ? (To clarify, the use case is for an admin of our web application to create a locally relevant group name and then map it to an exiting LDAP group. To enable this in the UI, we would like to present a way for the admin to browse available groups in the company LDAP server, view their membership, and select the LDAP group they would like to map to the locally relevant group name. In a second step, we would then synchronize the members of that LDAP group and their contact details to a store in our application ) Appreciate any pointers.

  • How to speed up/slow down application's 'time'

What I intend to do is to hook to some system api,like a time interrupt happens every amount of time (which is how every application in the operating system interprets time) and make an application's call to this api return some bigger/smaller result. So from the point view of an applicaiton, time has been speed up or slow down.     Aloha all! I am trying to use the win32 API to set the parent of an application to a panel in my C# application. I can get most applications to work... However I have one application which was written in VB6 which I am having problems with... When I inspect it using spy++ the application loads in 2 main forms 'ThunderRT6Main' and 'ThunderRT6MDIForm' both with the same title. I have found the handle of both of these and tried to call SetParent on them both but the window does nothing and does not move anywhere... Is there something funky I need to do when invoking SetParent() on a VB6 app?

The document root is pointed to a specific app folder: /var/www/my-project/app I'm trying to get phpMyAdmin running on the same server but I don't want to put it in the application folder. Instead I'd like to put it here /var/www/apps/phpmyadmin I'm using a sub domain for the server. What's the easiest way for me to get access to phpMyAdmin? Another subdomain? sub subdomain? Re-direct a folder?

  • Block all other input to an application and control it from a wrapper in Java

    I have a windows application which has a complex GUI that I would like to hide from users. In order to do this, I would like to create a wrapper with an extremely simple interface that overlays this application and automates a number of actions when a user clicks a single button on the wrapper. (I hope "wrapper" is the proper term.) Is it possible to use Java to block input to the underlying application so that users cannot inadvertently mess up the automation? How would I go about this? Also, how can I automate key presses and clicks to the application without hijacking the mouse? Is this possible in Java? I have looked at java.awt.Robot, but it appears to hijack the mouse. I have also looked at AutoIT, but it too hijacks the mouse and does not integrate with Java. Neither of these options seem powerful enough for what I need, but I do not know how else to proceed.
