• php POST and non-english language chars passes empty

  I'm trying to program a Hebrew site with a search option. (old site and the charset of this site is windows-1255) I am using php 5.2 with Apache 2.2, on a Debian 5 (Lenny) with appropriate code pages enabled. I am using _POST to pass arguments to a script. If I pass English word to the script everything works, but when I use Hebrew nothing is passed through the POST function. When I use ECHO to show _POST, the variable is empty. What might be the problem? P.S. this is old site that worked fine on PHP 4 with debian 4, and the problem arised only after we upgrade to PHP5+debian5.

• GlassFish Starting Up Java SE Client - No Initial Context Exception

  Hi I have developed a java se client that calls some session beans on a glassfish server. I connect to the bean remote interface like this. context = new InitialContext(); em = (ICrudService) context.lookup("java:global/BackITServer/CrudServiceImpl"); This works fine from inside eclipse (gf-client on build path). When I export my project as a runnable jar and call it on the console with java -jar BackItClient.jar I get a NoInitialContextException. MMMM. I would very much appreciate some help. Will it create any problem if i remove the method (explicit implementation of interface) that i have marked "redundant" above? PS: I understand that explicit implementation of interface is very important, and it can be used when we need to give access to a method at interface level only, and to use two interface with same signature of method.

• How to re-use a thread in Java ?

  I am a building a console Sudoku Solver where the main objective is raw speed. I now have a ManagerThread that starts WorkerThreads to compute the neibhbors of each cell. So one WorkerThread is started for each cell right now. How can I re-use an existing thread that has completed its work? The Thread Pool Pattern seems to be the solution, but I don't understand what to do to prevent the thread from dying once its job has been completed. ps : I do not expect to gain much performance for this particular task, just want to experiment how multi-threading works before applying it to the more complex parts of the code. • Problem with truncation of floating point values in DBSlayer.

  When I run a query through DBslayer http://code.nytimes.com/projects/dbslayer the floating point results are truncated to a total of six digits (plus decimal point and negative sign when needed). { ... "lat":52.2228,"lng":-2.19906, ... } When I run the same query in MySQL, the results are as expected. | 52.22280884 | -2.19906425 | Firstly, am I correct in identifying DBSlayer as the cause of this effect? • Debugger does not break when debugging PowerShell console

  I'm developing a binary PowerShell module. I have a post build event that copies that module into the 'modules' directory in my "Documents\WindowsPowerShell" folder. I then have the project set to launch PowerShell.exe. My module is loaded via Import-Module and off I go. The problem is my break points are never hit and the debugger does not break on exceptions. If I run PowerShell outside of Visual Studio and then attach the debugger to the process I can break just fine. The other strange this is that my break points are not empty. Typically if different source versions are loaded they will be. I'm running Visual Studio 2010 on a Win 7 box. My module is currently targeting .NET 3.5. I've tried running both the x64 and x86 versions of PS with no luck.

  Hi Guys, I am using this code to get the tags in my wordpress posts for a theme `<?php $posttags = get_the_tags(); if ($posttags) { foreach ($posttags as $tag) { $tagnames[count($tagnames)] = $tag->name; } $comma_separated_tagnames = implode(", ", $tagnames); print_r($comma_separated_tagnames); } ?>` The PROBLEM is that it is returning tags for "all posts" not just individual posts, and I think the problem is that if a post DOESNT have tags - it just inserts tags anyway. Can anyone help modify this so: It return tags only for a post - not all tags If there are no tags for a post, dont return anything ? Really appreciate any help P.S - Can check out here for the wordpress docs

• Virtual dedicated server repetitive draining RAM, OOM constantly

  My linux (fedora red hat 7) virtual dedicated server has been experiencing OOM multiple times a day for the past several days. I thought the issue was with spamd/spamassassin but after disabling this the errors remains. It is frustrating as I barely have anything running on the server and use the tiniest fraction of bandwidth.   I am trying to load Linq on my .Net 3.5 enabled web server by adding the following to my .aspx page: <%@ Import Namespace="System.Query" %> However, this fails and tells me it cannot find the namespace. The type or namespace name 'Query' does not exist in the namespace 'System' I have also tried with no luck: System.Data.Linq System.Linq System.Xml.Linq I believe that .Net 3.5 is working because var hello = "Hello World" seems to work.   What will be the exact definition of leap year ? AFAIK "A year which is divisible by 4 is a leap year.But for century years' the years which are divisible by 400 is a leap year." But that definition makes 100, 200, 300, 400.... upto 1700 NOT LEAP years! But in Gregorian calender all of them are all leap year,check this out. You can also try "call 1700" in Linux to verify. So the correct algorithm foe leap year would be if ( (year % 4 == 0) && ( year <= 1700 || year % 100 != 0 || year % 400 == 0 )) printf("%d is a leap year.\n", year); else printf("%d is not a leap year.\n", year); But is this specific to Gregorian calender ? Even if that is the case why is it not mentioned here ? Regards, PS:The history of Gregorian callender seems interesting check out the September month of 1752.

• How to optimize Dijkstra algorithm for a single shortest path between 2 nodes?

  Hi, I was trying to understand this implementation in C of the Dijkstra algorithm and at the same time modify it so that only the shortest path between 2 specific nodes (source and destination) is found. However, I don't know exactly what do to. The way I see it, there's nothing much to do, I can't seem to change d[] or prev[] cause those arrays aggregate some important data for the shortest path calculation. The only thing I can think of is stopping the algorithm when the path is found, that is, break the cycle when mini = destination when it's being marked as visited. Is there anything else I could do to make it better or is that enough? P.S: I just noticed that the for loops start at 1 until <=, why can't it start at 0 and go until <?

I have the following files referenced in the head section. jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.css jquery-1.3.2.min.js jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.min.js Theme:smoothness UI Version: 1.7.2 for jQuery 1.3.2 I have nothing else going on in the page but still get the error 'error updating JScript Intellisense. I am using VS2008 SP1. Any ideas? TIA ps: VS shows intellisense if i refer to 1.4.1.js & 1.4.1-vsdoc.js

• Integration of Photoshop and MySQL

  I’m working to integrate Photoshop (CS4, local) with MySQL (Linux, remote), such that: a) image file information, data and meta data can be exported from PS into MySQL where same can be manipulated both manually and calculated, and then b) the MySQL fields can be referenced in Photoshop scripting for further automated image file manipulation, and c) the MySQL fields can be referenced for other purposes such as dynamic propagation of files and associated file data to a website, for example. I’ve spent many hours running searches for these concepts on StackOverflow, Google, and Adobe Support. I’m coming up empty, which leads me to believe that it’s not natively possible, and that I’ll need some middle language like PHP. Does anyone know if it’s possible for Photoshop and MySQL to bi-directionally share data? If so, how? If that’s not possible, what solution(s) might you recommend, in terms of specific tools/technologies that I can research further. Thank you.

• Obey the MediaBox/CropBox in PDF when using ghostscript to render a PDF to a png

  I've been using ghostscript to convert my single figure plots rendered in PDF to png: gswin32c -sDEVICE=png16m -r300x300 -sOutputFile=junk.png -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE Figure_001-a.pdf This works in the sense I get a png out and it contians the plot. But it contains a huge amount of white space as well (an example source image: http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1258681/files/Figure_001-a.pdf). If you view it in Acrobat you'll note there is no white space around the plot. If you use the above command line you'll find the plot is only about 1/3 of the space. When doing the same thing with an eps file I run into the same problem. However, there is the command-line parameter -dEPSCrop that one can pass to get the PS rendering engine to pay attention to the BoundingBox. I need the similar argument for rendering PDF's. I was not able to find it in docs (nor even the EPSCrop, actually).

• Problems with testing in app purchases

  I am trying to test my application with in app purchases. I created features, test user, logged out from iTunes on the iPhone and used developer certificate. Load app from XCode in debug mode. When I click "Buy" button I pass all checks for internet availability, canMakePayments and call SKPayment *payment = [SKPayment paymentWithProductIdentifier:featureId]; [[SKPaymentQueue defaultQueue] addPayment:payment]; But all what I see is a pending view and after some minutes it failed in - (void) failedTransaction: (SKPaymentTransaction *)transaction { if (transaction.error.code != SKErrorPaymentCancelled) { NSLog(@"failedTransaction"); } [[MKStoreManager sharedManager] paymentCanceled]; [[SKPaymentQueue defaultQueue] finishTransaction: transaction]; } Please advice in what direction I should go to figure out the problem and what else I should check. P.S. All related questions on SO were checked with no luck.

• How do you authenticate user generated "apps" for your app?

  I'm think something like Facebook apps here. User generated pieces of code that people can write to interact with my app. I understand how an authenticated API works, but this seems a little more complicated because not only does the APP have to authenticate itself (with a regular api-key) but the USER using the app has to be authenticated somehow too, without giving the app free reign. I've been reading a bit here to see how FB does it: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/How_Facebook_Authenticates_Your_Application And it looks like you have to pass a signature in addition to the api-key along with every call, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how this gets generated and used on the other end (my server). Figure there must be a simple explanation of this out there? Thanks! P.S. I'm building a Rails app if there are any applicable gems/plugins.
