• Using a DataSet instead of custom business entities in soa and n-tier architecture

  I’m working on a large and a high volume transactional enterprise application which has been designed using n-tire application architecture .And it was developed in the .NET platform utilizing C#,VB.NEt, Framework 3.5, ObjectDataSources, DataSet, WCF, asp.net update panel, JavaScript ,JSON, 3rd Party tools. The application is supposed to accomplish a really scalable / easily maintained / robust application / integrations, and to make sure that my services are created using a format that can be understood by other systems. The problem is, this application is about 70% complete but now I was wondering if the following would cause us future issues, I’m using a DataSet and a DataTable to (get /set) the data (form /to) the stored procedure in the database using the ObjectDataSources and was wondering if this would prevent my application from achieving the above goals. Actually, I am not anti-OO. I write lots of classes for different purposes, but I didn’t use the entity objects(custom business entities) instead of the previous way because I have a large database that may contain 50 tables and I was just afraid to create entities for each table and then in the future if I need to change the schema of the database, it might cause a huge affect on the application ?

As soon as I switch to landscape mode, half the bar appears blue (the default navbar color) and half of it has my image How can I stretch the image for landscape mode and make it small again for portrait mode?   Hi, I am wondering how I could create a custom data type to use within the rake migration file. Example: if you would be creating a model, inside the migration file you can add columns. It could look like this: def self.up create_table :products do |t| t.column :name, :string t.timestamps end end I would like to know how to create something like this: t.column :name, :my_custom_data_type The reason for this to create for example a "currency" type, which is nothing more than a decimal with a precision of 8 and a scale of 2.   I have created a UIMenuController and have set it a custom menu item like so: UIMenuController *menuController = [UIMenuController sharedMenuController]; UIMenuItem *item1 = [[UIMenuItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Do This" action:@selector(item1)]; [menuController setMenuItems:[NSArray arrayWithObject:item1]]; But I wanted that object to be the only one to appear so I added this code: - (BOOL)canPerformAction: (SEL)action withSender: (id)sender { BOOL answer = NO; if (action == @selector(item1)) answer = YES; return answer; } The problem is it still shows other## Heading ## items, such as "Select", "Select All" and "Paste". This may have something to do with this being displayed in a UITextView. But how do I stop if from displaying all other items?

  I want to be able to send some extra headers with my UIWebView loadRequest method. I have tried: NSMutableURLRequest *req = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.reliply.org/tools/requestheaders.php"]]; [req addValue:@"hello" forHTTPHeaderField:@"aHeader"]; [self.theWebView loadRequest:req]; I have also tried subclassing the UIWebView and intercepting the - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)webView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType method. In that method I had a block of code which looked like this: NSMutableURLRequest *newRequest = [request mutableCopy]; for(NSString *key in [customHeaders allKeys]) { [newRequest setValue:[customHeaders valueForKey:key] forHTTPHeaderField:key]; } [self loadRequest:newRequest]; But for some unknown reason it was causing the web view to not load anything (blank frame) and the error message NSURLErrorCancelled (-999) comes up (all known fixes don't fix it for me). So I am at a loss as to what to do. How can I send a custom header along with a UIWebView request? Many thanks!

  Hi, I am using joomla Artio SEF for my website. I am using a form for new customer. So it uses index.php?form=newcustomer&Itemid=1 url as "joomla15/new-customer" as sef url. Now I need to add error message like index.php?form=newcustomer&Itemid=1&msg=".$msg after submitting this form. In this case it is not displaying as sef and showing "index.php?form=newcustomer&Itemid=1&msg=New Customer Received". I cld not use custom redirect also,becoz msg are dynamically generated. • Rendering spatial data of GeoQuerySet in a custom view on GeoDjango

  Hello. I have just started my first project on GeoDjango. As a matter of fact, with GeoDjango powered Admin application we all have a great possibility to view/edit spatial data, associated with the current object. The problem is that after the objects having been populated I need to render several objects' associated geometry at once on a single map. I might implement it as a model action, redirecting to a custom view. I just don't know, how to include the OpenLayers widget in the view and how to render there my compound geometry from my GeoQuerySet. I would be very thankful for any hint from an experienced GeoDjango programmer.

  Hello World!! :D I had a question which is pretty easy if you know the answer I guess. I read about sorting ArrayLists using a Comparator but somehow in all of the examples people used compareTo which according to some research is a method working on Strings... I wanted to sort an ArrayList of custom objects by one of their properties: a Date object (getStartDay()). Normally I compare them by item1.getStartDate().before(item2.getStartDate()) so I was wondering whether I could write something like: public class customComparator { public boolean compare(Object object1, Object object2) { return object1.getStartDate().before(object2.getStartDate()); } } public class randomName { ... • Xcode custom project template creates only references to files

  Hi, I tried to create a custom project template for setting up unit testing. The problem is that when i create a new project based on this template it creates references to the template files : When i edit a file, it changes my template files instead of my actual project files ! When i delete my template, files from my actual project becomes red ! The project template is in : /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Project Templates/Application/Test-based Application Reading some question on stack overflow i tried to install my template project in /Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Project Templates But i cannot see my template when i create a new project. • Add a custom compiler to XCode 3.2

  I have a working gcc 4.3.3 toolchain for an ARM Cortex-m3 and would like to integrate it into XCode. Is there a way to set up XCode (3.2) to use this gcc toolchain instead of the built-in GCC 4.2? What I've tried so far: I've added a modified copy of the GCC 4.2.xcplugin and changed the name, version and executable path. It shows up in XCode but whenever I set the "C/C++ Compiler Version" to the custom compiler it fails with Invalid value '4.3.3' for GCC_VERSION It seems like the valid version numbers are hardcoded somewhere else because even when I remove the original GCC 4.2.xcplugin, the value 4.2 remains valid (but is not visible in the "C/C++ Compiler Version" drop down anymore).

• Syncing google calendar with custom calendar

  I am using google calendar API to sync google calendar with our custom calendar. Right now I am trying it with a crude way by asking user if he/she wants to sync their calendar with google or not. If they say "yes" , I show them login screen where they have to enter their google user id and password and the calendar will be synced. But now when I change the month , the screen gets refreshed and all login information is lost and that changed month doesn't show up the events from google calendar. What is a best way for authentication AuthSub, OAuth or the crude way I mentioned for testing locally? I really don't know if I can use OAuth locally.

  I'm using the zend currency module to manage currencies in a web app. I can't figure out how to create a custom format for my currencies, since there are no examples on the documentation pages: http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/zend.currency.options.html From what I read there, I could use the format parameter to set a format, but I can't find a way how. Does anyone have a good code example for this problem? currently I do the following: $currency->setFormat(array (display' => Zend_Currency::USE_SYMBOL)); That works to display only the symbol, but I'm also interested in putting an extra space after or before the symbol and to display currencies like this: "$ 1,234.56 USD" "€ 1.234,56 EUR"

  What I want to do is quite simple: store data in a custom config file that I want to read later on. I created my file something.yml that I put in the global config directory. It looks like that: prod: test: ok dev: test: ko all: foo: bar john: doe Then I copied the config_handlers.yml and also put it in the config directory and added the following at the top of the file: config/something.yml: class: sfDefineEnvironmentConfigHandler param: prefix: something_ But if I'm calling sfConfig::get("something_foo"); I keep getting NULL. What did I do wrong? I just want to read values, so no need to create a custome config handler, right? I've read the doc here: http://www.symfony-project.org/book/1_2/19-Mastering-Symfony-s-Configuration-Files even though I'm running 1.4 (I don't think that changed since then). Edit: Of course I can use sfYaml::load() but I'd like to do things in a better way.

  I have a custom class extending NSObject. I am maintaining NSMutableArray of this class objects. Here is the situation, customObject { NSString *name; int ID; .....and many other properties; } customObjectsArray { customObject1, customObject2, ...etc } Now I am trying to use filterUsingPredicate to remove objects that has nil names, like below but it returns very few or none objects while I know that there are hundreds of objects that has name not nil or empty.
