  • Download textarea contents as a file using only Javascript (no server-side)

    I am being asked to make a "download" button that downloads the contents of a textarea on the same page as a file, with the browser's "Save As" dialog showing up. Copy/paste would do the job just fine, but it is a "requirement". Right now, I am just posting the contents of the textarea to the server, which echos them back with "Content-disposition: attachment" slapped on. Is there a way to do this with just client-side Javascript?

    Since I'm building a dynamic site, I need to track the changes between pages, ie. Ajax calls, POST, GET stuff and similar stuff. I'm looking for the same functionality like in Firebug (where you can enable "persistent" and the console is not cleared every time you reload a page or submit a form. So, my questions is: is there a way to make Google Chrome JavaScript console persistent? (And if yes, how?)

    When using Google Chrome, I receive the following error message: Error: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token < It occurs directly after my doctype declaration at the top of my HTML page <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> Any ideas what this JavaScript error message is? It only seems to occur with Google Chrome (works fine in Safari, Firfox and IE)

    just wondering if anyone knows anything of using javascript to set html to new content instead of linking to new pages, if this is generally a bad idea or if it kind of hurts SEO(which im kind of new to) Basically the home page displays given content, and the links to like contact pages and stuff, just change the body content to what would normally be a separate html page. my OCD kinda bugs me when pages reload and either flash the background or its offset somehow, so i wanted to know if making sites like this was a bad idea or whatever- i suppose at the least, i could create duplicates/hidden pages for SEO purposes

I need to save the appearance of the interface at the current time, crop out the part that I need (or only shot the part that I need by specifying the div), and send it back to the server. Clearly any external services would not be able to do this, I need a javascript (or flash) script that can save the screen appearance. Is this possible? Thanks.     in JavaScript, the typical way to round a number to N decimal places is something like: function round_number(num, dec) { return Math.round(num * Math.pow(10, dec)) / Math.pow(10, dec); } However this approach will round to a maximum of N decimal places while I want to always round to N decimal places. For example "2.0" would be rounded to "2". Any ideas?
