• How can I switch an existing set of Subversion repositories to use ActiveDirectory?

  I have a set of private Subversion repositories on a Windows Server 2003 box which developers access via SVNServe over the svn:// protocol. Currently we have been using the authz and passwd files for each repository to control access however with the growing number of repositories and developers I'm considering switching to using their credentials from ActiveDirectory. We run in an all Microsoft shop and use IIS instead of Apache on all of our web servers so I would prefer to continue to use SVNServe if possible. Besides it being possible, I'm also concerned about how to migrate our repositories so that the history for the existing users map to the correct ActiveDirectory accounts. Keep in mind also that I'm not the network administrator and I'm not terrible familiar with ActiveDirectory so I'll probably have to go through some other people to get the changes made in ActiveDirectory if necessary. What are my options? UPDATE 1: It appears from the SVN documentation that by using SASL I should be able to get SVNServe to authenticate using ActiveDirectory. To clarify, the answer that I'm looking for is how to go about configuring SVNServe (if possible) to use ActiveDirectory for authentication and then how to modify an existing repository to remap existing svn users to their ActiveDirectory domain login accounts. UPDATE 2: It appears that the SASL support in SVNServe works off of a plugin model and the documentation only shows as an example. Looking at the Cyrus SASL Library it looks like a number of authentication "mechanisms" are supported but I'm not sure which one is to be used for ActiveDirectory support nor can I find any documentation about such matters. UPDATE 3: Ok, well it looks like in order to communication with ActiveDirectory I'm looking to use saslauthd instead of sasldb for the *auxprop_plugin* property. Unfortunately it appears that according to some posts (possibly outdated and inaccurate) saslauthd does not build on Windows and such endeavors are considered a work in progress. UPDATE 4: The lastest post I've found on this topic makes it sound as though the proper binaries () are available through the MIT Kerberos Library but it sounds like the author of this post on Nabble.com is still having issues getting things working. UPDATE 5: It looks like from the TortoiseSVN discussions and also this post on svn.haxx.se that even if saslgssapi.dll or whatever necessary binaries are available and configured on the Windows server that the clients will also need the same customization in order to work with these repositories. If this is true, we will only be able to get ActiveDirectory support from a windows client only if changes are made in these clients such as TortoiseSVN and CollabNet build of the client binaries to support such authentication schemes. Although thats what these posts suggest, this is contradictory from what I originally assumed from other reading in that being SASL compatible should require no changes on the client but instead only that the server be setup to handle the authentication mechanism. After reading a bit more carefully in the document about Cyrus SASL in Subversion section 5 states "1.5+ clients with Cyrus SASL support will be able to authenticate against 1.5+ servers with SASL enabled, provided at least one of the mechanisms supported by the server is also supported by the client." So clearly GSSAPI support (which I understand is required for Active Directory) must be available within the client and the server. I have to say, I'm learning way too much about the internals of how Subversion handles authentication than I ever wanted to and I juts simply want to get an answer about whether I can have Active Directory authentication support when using SVNServe on a Windows server and accessing this from Windows clients. According to the official documentation it seems that this is possible however you can see that the configuration is not trivial if even possible at all.

• Self-powered USB hub and power supply adapter ampere capacity

  I am looking for a power supply adapter for my USB Hub so it can support at least 2 bus-powered external hard drives. The hub's rating is 5 volts, 2 amperes. I would like to know if it would be OK to buy a power supply adapter rated at less than 2A. I've been looking for power supply adapters and the ones that do support 2A are more expensive (more expensive than the USB hub itself) compared to those that support less than 2A. Will power supply adapter that supports less than 2A (~1-1.5A) work fine to support two external hard drives? The external hard drives are both bus-powered Western Digital My Passport Essentials 250 GB. The OS is Windows XP SP3.

   One of the great things about the .NET Framework is that Microsoft has worked long and hard to improve many features. Since the initial release of .NET 1.0, there has been support for threading via .NET threads as well as an application-level threadpool. This provided a great starting point when compared to Visual Basic 6 and classic ASP programming. The release of.NET 4 brought significant improvements in the area of threading, asynchronous operations and parallel operations. While the improvements made working with asynchronous operations easier, new problems were introduced, since many of these operations work based on callbacks. For example: How should a developer handle error checking? The program flow tends to be non-linear. Fixing bugs can be problematic. It is hard for a developer to get an understanding of what is happening within an application. The release of .NET 4.5 (and C# 5.0), in the fall of 2012, was a blockbuster update with regards to asynchronous operations and threads. Microsoft has added C# language keywords to take this non-linear callback-based program flow and turn it into a much more linear flow. Recently, Xamarin has updated Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.iOS to support async. This article will look at how Xamarin has implemented the .NET 4.5/C# 5 support into their Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android productions. There are three general areas that I'll focus on: A general look at the asynchronous support in Xamarin's mobile products. This includes async, await, and the implications that this has for cross-platform code. The new HttpClient class that is provided in .NET 4.5/Mono 3.2.   I'm trying to use HAProxy as a fully transparent proxy using TPROXY in Ubuntu 14.04. HAProxy will be setup on the first server with eth1 111.111.250.250 and eth0 10.111.128.134. The single balanced server has eth1 and eth0 as well. eth1 is the public facing network interface while eth0 is for the private network which both servers are in. Problem: I'm able to connect to the balanced server's port 1234 directly (via eth1) but am not able to reach the balanced server via Haproxy port 1234 (which redirects to 1234 via eth0). Am I missing out something in this configuration? • Comparison between Cocos2d and Corona

  I'm having a really hard time deciding which way to go on this. I'm about to start developing a game and I haven't been able to find many good comparisons between these approaches. I don't have many requirements for the game yet, but here is what I do know. needs to work on iPhone I don't have much money ($400 for Unity for iPhone is probably too much. I can probably afford $99 for Corona.) Graphics will be 2D Physics support is not needed Ability to use particles would be nice Game Center support would be nice (Corona is planning to support it soon) It would be nice to be able to support Android as well if it isn't much effort. I have done my own research, so I know basic things about them. I know Corona uses Lua and Cocos2D uses Objective C. I know that Corona allows deployment to iPhone and Android, but how easy is it? Cocos2D is free, but so many people talk about how easy it is to use Corona, but I don't like being restricted to features Corona supports or the price tag. I feel so torn here.

  Possible Duplicate: Is local “User” rights enough or do developers need Local Administrator or Power User while coding? I currently work for a large utilities company which currently does not grant “Local Admin” access to developers. This is causing a lot of grief as anything that requires elevated privileges needs to be done by the Desktop Support/Server Teams. In some cases this can take several days and requires our developers to have to show why they need this access. I personally think that all developers should have local administration rights and are currently fighting with management to achieve this but I would like to know what other people think about this. To achieve this I would like to hear what people believe are the pros and cons of letting developers have local admin access to their machines.   I'm hoping to run CouchDB as a per-user Launch Agent on OS X. I'm using the coucdbx-core folder from the CouchDB Server.app as the base of my CouchDB deployment. I'd like each user to have their own couch instance (on a different port), necessitating separate config files for each instance. The logical place to put these files is in ~/Library/Application Support/ for each user. I can put the entire distribution in ~/Library/Application Support/my-app/coucdbx, and put the .ini at ~/Library/Application Support/my-app/local.ini. Starting couchdb as bin/couchdb -a ../local.ini (from ~/Library/Application Support/my-app/coucdbx) works great. But I'd like to save every user the ~50MB couchdbx and install the couchdbx-core in a shared location (e.g. within my app's .app bundle). The primary goal of this committee is to define strategic goals, coordinate activities, set data standards and offer data guidelines for the business. Not yet, there are 2 special SDK for Android and iOS app. So, What should I choose (Java, .Net, PHP,...) to carry out my task? Does AWS support all webservice protocol? • Application Lifecycle Management Tools

  Leading a team comprised of three former teams means that we have three of everything.  Three places to gather requirements, three (actually eight or nine) places for customers to submit support requests, three places to plan and track work. We’ve been looking into tools that combine these features into a single product.  Not just Agile planning tools, but those that allow us to look in a single place for requirements, work items, and reports. One of the interesting choices is Software Planner by Automated QA (the makers of Test Complete).  It's a lovely tool with real end-to-end process support.  We’re probably not going to use it for one reason – cost.  I’m sure our company could get a discount, but it’s on a concurrent user license that isn’t cheap for a large number of users.  Some initial guesswork had us paying over $6,000 for 3 concurrent users just to get started with the Enterprise version.  Still, it’s intuitive, has great Agile capabilities, and has a reputation for excellent customer support. At the moment we’re digging deeper into Rational Team Concert by IBM.  Reading the docs on this product makes me want to submit my resume to Big Blue.  Not only does RTC integrate everything we need, but it’s free for up to 10 developers.  It has beautiful support for all phases of Scrum.  We’re going to bring the sales representative in for a demo. This marks one of the few times that we’re trying to resist the temptation to write our own tool.  And I think this is the first time that something so complex may actually be capably provided by an external source.   Hooray for less work! • Free Updates and Errata for Oracle Linux

  ISO images of the Oracle Linux installation media as well as individual binary RPMs (and the sources) of major and minor releases (Updates) have always been freely available for download, use and distribution, ever since we started the Oracle Linux support program. We're now taking this a step further: in addition to the above, we will now also provide updated packages or errata for free from separate yum repositories on http://public-yum.oracle.com. If you would like to keep your Oracle Linux system up to date, you can now do so by subscribing your system to the respective "_latest" repository for your distribution, e.g. "ol6_latest" for Oracle Linux 6. See the installation instructions on the public yum front page for details on how enable these repositories. If you would like to also receive free updates to the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 2, make sure to enable the "[ol6_UEK_latest]" repository as well - updates to the kernel will be made available from this separate channel until it is included in the next set of installation media. Now what does this mean for Oracle Network Support? Getting access to the updates and errata was just one part of the offering – the following benefits will still only be available with an Oracle Linux Support Subscription only: Full indemnification against intellectual property claims.
