  • Format of DataGridView value

    I have a DataGridView which is filling from Table in SQL Server Database. One of it's columns is "price". Type of column in DGV is automatically sets as Decimal. In some cases I need to write in cells of this column text like "none", instead of price. How can I do it? DGV.Item("price", 0).Value = "none" doesn't work, because of decimal type of a cell.

  • Using Public/Private keys in reverse

    Hi, I have a situation where I need to make some data available for reading by anyone from a specific device, where the data is pre-loaded on the device, but I cannot allow anyone to create their own device and populate it with their own data in the same format. I know this sounds a little crazy, but there is a good reason! I was planning to use Public Key cryptography, encrypting the data with a public key, but then publishing the private key to anyone who wants to read the data. However, after looking at the RSACryptoServiceProvider and how it works it looks like I cannot just publish the private key as the private key can be used to create the public key. Could someone confirm that suspicion, or give me some hints on how I might be able to make this work! Many Thanks.

  • VBScript Issue Help Required.

    I need a script that can run and pull information from any drive on a Windows operating system (Windows Server 2003), listing all files and folders which contain the following fields: The server is quite big and is within our domain. The required information is: Full file path (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\testPage.doc) File type (e.g. word document, spreadsheet, database etc) Size When Created When last modified When last accessed Also the script will need to convert that data to a CSV file, which later on I can modify and process in Excel. I can imagine that this data will be huge but I still need it. I am logged in as an administrator on the server and the script will need to also process protected files. As in previous posts I have read that the script will stop if such files are processed. I need to make sure that not a single file is skipped. Please note I have asked this question before but still have not got a working script.   • Typed DataSet connection - required to have one in the .xsd file?

    In the .xsd file for a typed DataSet in .NET, there's a <Connections> section that contains a list of any data connections I've used to set up the DataTables and TableAdapters. There are times when I'd prefer not to have those there. For instance, sometimes I prefer to pass in a connection string to a custom constructor and use that rather than look for one in settings, .config, etc. But it seems like if I remove the connection strings from that section (leaving it empty), or remove the section entirely, the DataSet code-generation tool freaks out. Whereas if I don't remove them, the DataSet gripes when I put it in a different project because it can't find the settings for those connection strings. Is there any way I can tell a typed DataSet not to worry about any connections? (Obviously I'll have to give it a connection if I change any TableAdapter SQL or stored procs, but that should be my problem.)

    Hi, I'd like to make a textbox that accepts only numbers, but not integer, but rather double. I've read here about e.Handled = Not Char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) and it works, but again, it can be used only for integer, since it declines decimal point. Another thing I've read here is If Not Double.TryParse(TextBox2.Text, value) Then .... and it would work fine, except that it allows only decimal comma instead of point. I don't know whether it's because of my location settings (Hungary, we use commas instead of points), but I don't have any other idea how to solve my problem, and the SQL server I send my data uses decimal point. For each tab selected, I'd like to display different controls on the left side for use in that tab.     I'm building three web applications in .NET that will all share a users database and login information. Lets pretend that application 1 is the "parent" application and applications "A" and "B" are the "child" applications. All users have to be logged into application 1 to have access to applications A and B. Authorization, Authentication, and MachineKey sections of all web configs are present and work correctly. I have the correct web.config settings in all applications to achieve Single Sign On except one problem remains: what do I put in the "loginUrl" attribute of the forms tag in Applications A and B. Assume that the url for the login to application 1 is "www.johnsapp.com/login.aspx" How can I get applications A and B to send the user back to application 1 for authentication using only settings in web.config?

  • Stored Connection Strings per user

    In the past I've used a Singleton Pattern to load the connection string when the application starts via the global.asa file. I have a project now where each user has a unique connection string to the database. I would like to load this connection string once. The issue is that the singleton pattern will not work for me since each user has there own connection string. Basically the connection string is created dynamically. I do not want to store it is session. If anyway has a clever way of doing this in .NET let me know ?

    I'm trying to create a function to parse out all values in a multidimensional Array with all but one dimension given. The details are not relevant, but for this function I need to return an one-dimensional Array containing values of the same type the original multidimensional Array has. To pass any Array with any dimension to my function, I declared the type of this parameter as Array. However, how would I create a new Array of that specific type (e.g. Integer)? Currently I have the following code: Function GetRow(ByVal arr As Array) As Array Dim result As (...) 'This should be Integer() if arr contains Integers, etc. Return result End Function How do I declare the type of result to make it having the same type of values as arr?   • "Invalid Object Format Name" in Crystal Reports

    When working with Crystal Report Field Objects and attempting to set "EnableSuppress" to False or alter the position or width of a field object is generating an "Invalid Object Format Name" error. The debugger shows all my code running without error until attempting to actually load the report. At that point, it will run the first couple without problem, then it fails when messing with a field object, and none of the rest will run. The code is shown below. Everything that generates an error is a FieldObject, but not all fieldObjects generate errors. In the code below, everything in Section2 is a TextObject and everything in Section3 is a FieldObject.
