  • Android Emulator and adb problems

    I'm having a problem in that whenever I start a emulator, either manually through the command line, or when debugging from Eclipse, it is never recognized by adb, i.e. 'adb devices' will not list it. I have to manually kill and restart adb every time I want to recognize a new emulator. Surely, something is wrong here? (I'm on Vista 64-bit)

    I am using xampp on localhost and when I use _SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"] it returns ::1 (also does this in phpinfo()). Why does it do this? I want it to return a normal ip address like 127.0.0.1. My operating system is windows vista.

    In a .net 2.0 C# application I use the following code to detect the operating system platform: string os_platform = System.Environment.OSVersion.Platform.ToString();<br/> This returns "Win32NT". The problem is that it returns "Win32NT" even when running on Windows Vista 64bit. Is there any other method to know the correct platform (32 or 64bit)? Note that it should also detect 64bit when run as 32bit app on Windows 64bit.

    Hi guys, I'm getting angry - I cant run the emulator (under vista x64). I still get the following error: Starting emulator in execution mode * Error * Failed to connect to device 2! Reason: Emulator 2 terminated while waiting for it to register! BUILD FAILED (total time: 26 seconds) I was trying to change the port to 1999, localhost to ip address and such stuff.     I have built an application which uses user executable through WScript com object. Now the main program is located in C:\Program files\Myapp Curl executable is located in C:\Curl But it looks like my application is unable to execute curl if main application is in Program files. If i move it to another location it can execute curl nicely. Problem occurs only on Windows Xp on Vista and Win7 it works perfectly. Is there any special permissions i have to give to my app or what?

    Does anyone know how to change the subnet mask and the DHCP enabled flag on Windows XP / Vista / 7 from a C++ program? The Windows API has a GetAdaptersInfo() routine which will give you that information, but I need the counterpart SetAdaptersInfo() which doesn't seem to exist. I've looked all over MSDN and the web and don't see how to do it on newer-than-Windows-NT machines. Any information is greatly appreciated.

    I can browse using the desktop browsers via ..localhost:54647/... and from windows mobile emulators via my gateway ..//192.168.0.199:54647/..., but neither method works from either my Android emulator or from a usb attached itouch. I know I may have to run IIS locally but it's more convenient to run the development server from Visual Studio 2008. I'm running Vista with latest service packs. I'm developing a mobile app using ASP.Net MVC. Thanks!

    If I allocate memory in one thread in C++ (either new or malloc) can I de-allocate it in another, or must both occur in the same thread? Ideally, I'd like to avoid this in the first place, but I'm curious to know is it legal, illegal or implementation dependent. Edit: The compilers I'm currently using include VS2003, VS2008 and Embedded C++ 4.0, targetting XP, Vista, Windows 7 and various flavours of Windows CE / PocketPC & Mobile. So basically all Microsoft but across an array of esoteric platforms.

    I use Fiddler for intercepting HTTP traffic when using IE or Firefox. Now that I'm using chrome for most of my day, I would like to be able to see the http traffic using something like Fiddler. What do chrome developers use ? I prefer something automatic like Fiddler but something that needs config, etc would also help. P.S : I'm on windows vista 64-bit HOME PREMIUM, if that's important.

    I recently installed Ubuntu on a VirtualBox VM ... it installed just fine (much easier than on VirtualPC). However, I'm unable to get internet access from the guest OS (ie. Ubuntu).     I need to log information about how much RAM the user has. My first approach was to use GlobalMemoryStatusEx but that only gives me how much memory is available to windows, not how much is installed. I found this function GetPhysicallyInstalledSystemMemory but its only Vista and later. I need this to work on XP. Is there a fairly simple way of querying the SMBIOS information that GetPhysicallyInstalledSystemMemory was using or is there a registry value somewhere that I can find this out.
