• Is generic Money<TAmount> a good implementation idea?

  I have a Money Type that allows math operations and is sensitive to exchange rates so it will reduce one currency to another if rate is available to calculate in a given currency, rounds by various methods. It has other features that are sensitive to money, but I need to ask if the basic data type used should be made generic in nature. I've realized that the basic data type to hold an amount may differ for financial situations, for example: retail money might be expressed as all cents using int or long where fractions of cents do not matter, decimal is commonly used for its fixed behaviour, sometimes double seems to be used for big finance and large values sometimes a special BigInteger or 3rd-party type is used. I want to know if it would be considered good form to turn Money into Money<T_amount> so it can be used in any one of the above chosen scenarios?

  I have some 3rd party software where i can open nsites and run javascript. Because some sites make me stack overflow i ussed the trick wih Registry to modify Styles WRAD to FFFFFF. Still some sites may do stack overflow due to DOM. I thought on start of running each site i would do javascript: setTimeout("window.status='one';",10000); then on then end i would like to clear it - my question is how to if this doesnt have any actual id? Will the usual clearTimeout() without anything inside do it fine?

• Reading correctly alphanumeric fields into R

  A tab-delimited text file, which is actually an export (using bcp) of a database table, is of that form: 102 1 01 e113c 3224.96 12 102 1 01 e185 101127.25 12 102 2 01 e185 176417.90 12 102A 3 01 e185 26261.03 12 I tried to import it in R with a command like data <- read.delim("C:\\test.txt", header = FALSE, sep = "\t") The problem is that the 3rd column which is actually a varchar field (alphanumeric) is mistakenly read as integer (as there are no letters in the entire column) and the leading zeros disappeared. The same thing happened when I imported the data directly from the database, using odbcConnect. Again that column was read as integer. str(data) $ code: int 1 1 1 1 1 1 6 1 1 8 ... How can I import such a dataset in R correctly, so as to be able to safely populate that db table again, after doing some data manipulations?

• Data import wizard library for .Net?

  Does anyone know of a 3rd party data import wizard that can be embedded into applications? It should import from Excel, Access, SQLServer, csv, tab-separated flat file, XML, Oracle etc. We have a fixed data structure within our application and the user should be able to configure the wizard to match his/her import fields to our own data structure. The wizard should be a library of sorts – preferably a .Net type library. We may want to have it both web-based and desktop based (hence we may need an ASP.Net controls version and a Winforms version). We may also want integration with WPF and Silverlight. If there’s no UI wizard available, does anyone know of a non-UI library that supports easily configurable import from many, many different datasources?

  I need to connect to a database in Sqlite so i downloaded and installed System.Data.SQLite and with the designer dragged all my tables. The designer created a .cs file with public class Entities : ObjectContext and 3 constructors: 1st public Entities() : base("name=Entities", "Entities") this one load the connection string from App.config and works fine.   console.log takes a string and replaces tokens with values, for example: console.log("My name is %s, and I like %", 'Dave', 'Javascript') would print: My name is Dave, and I like Javascript I'd like to wrap this inside a method like so: function log(msg, values) { if(config.log == true){ console.log(msg, values); } } The 'values' arg might be a single value or several optional args. How can I accomplish this? If I call it like so: log("My name is %s, and I like %s", "Dave", "Javascript"); I get this (it doesn't recognize "Javascript" as a 3rd argument): My name is Dave, and I like %s If I call this: log("My name is %s, and I like %s", ["Dave", "Javascript"]); then it treats the second arg as an array (it doesn't expand to multiple args). What trick am I missing to get it to expand the optional args?

  Afternoon all, I really need your help as this is a Nightmare! I was earlier having a problem with referencing a 3rd Party Dll (Here) but have overcome this problem and am now having a problem referencing my own classes! Everything seems fine at build with no errors at all but when I go to run the application it comes up with the following Compilation Error: Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Secure' does not exist in the namespace 'source_extranet' (are you missing an assembly reference?) The line that the Error points to this line in the class: source_extranet.Secure.BackendCustomData newdata = new source_extranet.Secure.BackendCustomData(); This line of code points to a class in the same folder as the calling code class. I have scoured Google looking for an answer and haven't found anything that points me to an answer to my problem. Any help would be AMAZING!

• Android OutOfMemoryError - Loading JSON File

  The app I am working on needs to read a JSON file that may be anywhere from 1.5 to 3 MB in size. It seems to have no problem opening the file and converting the data to a string, but when it attempts to convert the string to a JSONArray, OutOfMemoryErrors are thrown. The exceptions look something like this: E/dalvikvm-heap( 5307): Out of memory on a 280-byte allocation. W/dalvikvm( 5307): Exception thrown (Ljava/lang/OutOfMemoryError;) while throwing internal exception (Ljava/lang/OutOfMemoryError;) One strange thing about this is that the crash only occurs every 2nd or 3rd time the app is run, leaving me to believe that the memory consumed by the app is not being garbage collected each time the app closes. Any insight into how I might get around this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am open to the idea of loading the file in chunks, but I'm not quite sure what the best approach is for such a task. • c# Bitmap.Save transparancy doesn't save in png

  I'm trying to save a Bitmap class that has transparancy as a png file with transparancy. I'm having no luck. The bitmap has transparancy, it just doesn't save with transparancy. this is what I'm doing bitmap setup Bitmap ret = new Bitmap(bWidth, bHeight, System.Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb); saveing ret.Save(filename, ImageFormat.Png); I also tried saving the file with a filestream, and that made no difference. When the image is in a Picture box the transparancy exists, but when I save i I just get a black background. I really don't want to use any 3rd party code, they found a way to do it, I'd like to also. thanks.

• TinyMCE or HTML5's contentEditable attribute?

  I have always hated wysiwyg editors but most of the applications I develop they are necessary for our clients to edit their content. After trying out a few different ones I seemed to like tinyMCE the best. Although powerful and seems to generate fairly good HTML it is not without its issues. Recently I have been thinking about creating a custom wysiwyg that suits my needs perfectly taking advantage of the contentEditable attribute. Is this HTML5 feature ready? Will I have many cross browser issues? What are its limitations? I guess my question finally boils down to; Will it be worth throwing in the towel on 3rd party wysiwygs and moving to contentEditable regions?

In addition to monitoring the usual OS-level suspects (I/O, disk space, logs, CPU, RAM, swapping, etc.), we're also looking to monitor, alert and report on internal application events, conditions, and counters (think queue size for internal service, or latency of a service we're getting from a third party via custom APIs). We're started looking at Nagios, Zenoss, etc., but found out those do only low-level stuff, and are currently looking at MOM and ManageEngine. Still, they are far from being an custom app monitoring tool. So - do you have anything to suggest?

• Continous Build Integration with SourceSafe and Windows Batch Files

  I want to create a continuous build integration system for .NET using just Windows batch files and Visual Source Safe. I've come up with the following batch file so far - set ssdir=\\xxxx\vss cd d:\mydir "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual SourceSafe\ss.exe" diff "$/sourcedir" -R -Q > diffout.txt This will spit out a file containg lines like "SourceSafe files different from local files" when a change has been made. My challenge is to figure out if those lines are in the file, then do a get and kick off MSBuild if they are. I'd then schedule the batch file to run every 10 minutes or so. Anyone got any thoughts on how to do that? Or any other ways of doing continuous build integration without downloading a complicated build automation system? Update: Happy to use cscript or powershell too, though not really familiar with those environments. My main aim is to avoid installing 3rd party software

• One project in Delphi 2007 doesn't show procedure name in the IDE Obj Inspector's Events

  I have a Delphi project in 2007 that doesn't show the procedure names in the Object Inspector's Events such as Form OnClose, OnCreate or OnShow in the IDE. The code is there and if you click on OnCreate (for example) you are taken to the code and the IDE fills in the name of procedure. However on reload, the procedures are missing from the IDE again. This same project causes various error messages when Delphi closes also, but I am not sure if this is related (no other project developed under this Delphi does but this one is the largest app and uses several 3rd party add-in libraries). I have moved this app to various Delphi 2007 installations and it reacts the same, so it isn't a corrupt Delphi situation. Is there any way to rebuild or fix a corrupt project like this? Any help would be appreciated.

This process will execute many times say 10 times. Ok? I want to run simultaneously this process. not one will start, it will finish and then second will start. I want after starting 1'st process, just 2'nd , 3rd....10'th must be start. Means it should be multithreading. how can i achieve this ? is that will give me error while connection with data base open and close ?

• compare previous ENCRYPT() call with new ENCRYPT() call mysql

  I'm storing a string in mysql with the ENCRYPT() function. I want to fetch a row where that string is matched, but the new ENCRYPT() call gives me a different value, so they never match. This is expected as i'm not (and can't) give it a consistent salt: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/encryption-functions.html#function_encrypt If no salt argument is given, a random value is used. This is the query i'm running that returns empty: SELECT * FROM `table` WHERE ENCRYPT('string') = `enc_string` I know this is possible because this is used by a 3rd party app, but I can't find their query where they do this. Is there a way to force ENCRYPT to use the previous salt, or predict it?

• OnPage Load display one sentence - hide others

  Hi I have created http://techavid.com/design/test3.html and when you load the page you see there are 3 images. The sun image is focused(in color), while the others are greyed out until clicked. That is how it should be for the images. Under each image you see a sentence 1st: Sun, 2nd: Airplane & 3rd: Nano, but when page loads you see all three sentences. How to make it so when page loads the first sentence underneath the active image (sun) shows only and the others do not show, they only show when clicked (though that works just need to figure out onpage load only show "1st: Sun")? thanks :) paul J.

Next code working fine: testController.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:testController animated:YES]; where testController - next controller to switch, self - current controller. And when i've set 3rd controller - it's working fine, but i have problem with back to first controller - when i back to first controller - i can't go to second controller. 1 - 2 - 3 - 1 - it's working fine, but - 2 - don't show. what's mistake ?

• Is there a 3 way merger tool that “understands” common refactoring?

  When a simple refactoring like “rename field” has been done on one branch it can be very hard to merge the changes into the other branches. (Extract method is much harder as the merge tools don’t seem to match the unchanged blocks well) Now in my dreams, I am thinking of a tool that can record (or work out) what well defined refactoring operations have been done on one branch and then “replay” them on the other branch, rather than trying to merge every line the refactoring has affected. see also "Is there an intelligent 3rd merge tool that understands VB.NET" for the other half of my pain! Also has anyone try something like MolhadoRef (blog article about MolhadoRef and Refactoring-aware SCM), This is, in theory, refactoring-aware source control.

• Exchange enrypted messages with a single recipient

  I need to exchange encrypted messages with another party. These would be in the form of email like communication (not instant chat). The solution needs to be portable (USB stick). I've tried "Portable Thunderbird/Enigmail/Gnupg/Hotmail account" but it's just impossible to setup portable, countless meaningless error messages. Anyway, I would prefer something more straightforward. Notes: We won't know each others IP addresses. Our computers will often be switched off. Encryption would ideally be using a common password. Is there a solution to this?

• Windows server's HDD Spin down daily/nightly - Does it makes sense?

  A Windows Server 2003 R2 has the following hard disk configuration: - 3 internal hard disks attached to a 3Ware unit, configured in Raid 1 + spare unit - 3 external USB backup disks: 2 Verbatim 1TB (Samsung HD103SI) + 1 Western Digital 1TB (WD10EADS) The server runs 365 days per year, h24, however: - at daytime the server/user usage is limited to the internal hard disks - at nighttime there's no user usage, apart from scheduled maintenance tasks, basically the Server will be idle from 7PM to 8AM. apart from nighly backups (few hours). I was wondering if: (a) it makes any sense let Windows manage power savings, allowing disks to spin down accordingly, ** OR** let the disks stay awlays-on, to avoid permature wearing, due to continuous spin up/down (b) leave internal disks always on, and force external disks to power down while idle (this requires third party tools, such as Verbatim's Green button utility) Your thoughts?

I have a problem when Travis CI run multiple python tests (of the The Travis CI Build Matrix) concurrently.   Hi there, I want to send an email with an attachment using the following code (Python 3.1) (greatly simplified to show the example) from email.mime.multipart import MIMEMultipart from email.mime.text import MIMEText msg = MIMEMultipart() msg['From'] = from_addr msg['To'] = to_addr msg['Subject'] = subject msg.attach(MIMEText(body)) fp = open(att_file) msg1 = MIMEText(fp.read()) attachment = msg1.add_header('Content-Disposition', 'attachment', filename=att_file) msg.attach(attachment) # set string to be sent as 3rd parameter to smptlib.SMTP.sendmail() send_string = msg.as_string() The attachment object msg1 returns 'email.mime.text.MIMEText' object at ', but when the msg1.add_header(...) line runs the result is None, hence the program falls-over in msg.as_string() because no part of the attachment can have a None value. (Traceback shows "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_content_maintype'" in line 118 of _dispatch in generator.py, many levels down from msg.as_string()) Has anyone any idea what the cause of the problem might be?
