  I am not sure if you can post revision programming questions in here but i am stuck with some algorithms revision If an algorithm is quadratic it takes time proportional to the number of n^2 ? So if the slides say its almost 1/2 the square of n records is this the same as saying (n^2 * 0.5) Thanks

• When running UPDATE ... datetime = NOW(); will all rows updated have the same date/time?

  When you run something similar to: UPDATE table SET datetime = NOW(); on a table with 1 000 000 000 records and the query takes 10 seconds to run, will all the rows have the exact same time (minutes and seconds) or will they have different times? In other words, will the time be when the query started or when each row is updated? I'm running MySQL, but I'm thinking this applies to all dbs.

  Hi.I am trying to get day of names with and correct order like Monday ,Tuesday.. But in my table I have records that after Monday comes Friday or I have Thursday between two Tuesday .I want to order them like Monday ,Monday ,Tuesday ,Tuesday, Wednesday so on .But I don`t want to group them. I used this query but it does not make order select Day_Name from mydb.schedule where Room_NO=(510) And Week_NO =(1) it outputs Monday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Wednesday Tuesday Thursday Thursday Thursday how can I correct it?

  We have a database setup that consists of two parts: a static structure, and dynamic additions. For each database, the dynamic can be different, and sometimes we don't have data for all the dynamic fields. Rigt now, we check for empties by looking at the total count of records in the entire table, but we want to move to a more refined method of checking for empties if possible. Is it possible to quickly check through several hundred fields and see which ones are empty and which ones are populated?

I know that delete does not reclaim the memory space, but as i found in a description of DELETE command, inserts may reuse the space deleted In MyISAM tables, deleted rows are maintained in a linked list and subsequent INSERT operations reuse old row positions. I am interested if LOAD DATA command also reuses the deleted space? UPDATE I am also interested how the index space reclaimed?

  Hi All I have a Text File (Sorry, I'm not allowed to work on XML files :(), and it includes customer records. Each text file looks like: Account_ID: 98734BLAH9873 User Name: something_85 First Name: ILove Last Name: XML Age: 209 etc... And I need to be able to use LINQ to get the data from these text files and just store them in memory. I have seen many Linq to SQL, Linq to BLAH but nothing for Linq to Text. I wish I could get a result set of 10 rows based on all time last updated records contained in the 2 columns, ex. row 1 = last_updated_1 record, row 2 = last_updated_2 record, row 3 = last_updated_1 record, etc. How could I compare inside a MySQL query the both columns values, to get unique & mixed result set ?
